Any info on Pumpkin AS0171B or CN10-01202B 1 din decks? - Android Head-Units

Recently purchased an Android 6 Single Din CN10-01202B-Y0801-GS-Y0004 deck from "AutoPumpkin":

I think the "generic" manufacturer is Kaier (KED3-5) noted in system version, and was wondering if anyone here started testing with it yet?
They also have the same type with Android 7:
SKU: AS0171B OS: Android 7.1Nougat CPU: Quad Core RAM: DDR3 2GB Nand Memory: 32GB Bluetooth: BT 4.0 Working Voltage: 10.8~14.8V DC Audio output: 4*45W Max Cold Boot time: about 25s Screen Size: 7-Inch Digital Screen Screen Resolution: 800*480 Capacitive Touch Screen (5 points)

But I was told by their tech support the internal components are "In fact" different and the android 6 model cannot be upgraded to 7.
Currently having ALOT of software issues, even after updating to their newest V8.2.3_20170927.200111_KED3-5 firmware.
Video player keeps freezing up, VLC player is just blank screen even after disabling HW overlays. Firmware just keeps lagging and freezing up. Seems like their Tech Support just keeps making up things off the top of their heads.
The front panel LCD has unnecessary graphic segments that don't really do anything on the right and left of display, but at least the hardware buttons are not only mapable but can also be RGB'd to any color you wish.
I'm hoping someone can come up with a custom system for it that I know would run much better. (that's why we're all here on xda right?) :fingers-crossed:
Another interesting thing is the IR remote from my old RK3188 actually works (but not all buttons, just the basic volume and power) with this unit even though they told me it didn't come with one because it's not supported :silly:
My old worn out 1GB RK3188 (Eonon GA1312) is currently performing better than this unit thank's to the awsome work by Johny DJ, dsa8310 , and Malaysk!
Purchases this newer unit because the GA1312 front panel lcd cuts out and DVD drive grinds away blindly.
(but at least IMO it was designed way better than this Pumpkin unit)

Bought this unit in April with 7.1 . Having the same issue with VLC just playing audio, no video ever. The stock video player can struggle through some videos with occasional pauses and freezes. The screen looks bleached out compared to my double din android in my van. The whole system seems very laggy and takes a full 3 minutes to boot (no fast boot in this one). You have any luck with VLC yet?

WIP: Custom Headunit building Nissan Qashqai J10

So long time lurker here, and probably in the wrong section, if so, really sorry and please move it to the correct section if needed.
I have been using an MTCB unit ( Hui Fei Type ) In my Nissan Note, tweaked it, upgraded it to android 6 and everything worked fine. Sold the car, sold the headunit. and now I have an Nissan Qashqai J10 (2009) .
This car has an pretty nice head unit in it, with navigation and rear cam feed like the one below :

}
So removing this one and replacing it with something else is something I want to avoid. After some research I had fount out there are some models that have the head unit navigation display above the traditional headunit
This gave me some new opportunities and I went ahead and bought the parts needed :
Dashboard section on ebay including the top screen
7 Inch Display from AliExpress
USB Dab+ Adapter
USB GPS receiver
Development poard to solder parts on. with the same size as the raspberry pi
12V Relay to act as switch on key ignition
12V - 5V 3A Step down to get power from the car to the development board. ( 2 pcs )
original Nissan ISO wiring harness just in case for the parts
2 push buttons ( 1 - Latching as power switch for this head unit, 1 momentary for hard reset )
FM Transmitter ... (In hindsight I do not like this idea because someone else could possible listen to it if driving close to you..., going to use the AUX on the original head unit instead )
I already had an Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lying around here and wanted to use this but found out quickly enough that is not an option because I really want to use Android 7.1+
After some looking around I have to decide what to buy next :
Alpine64 ROCK64
Alpine64 ROCKPro64
Libre Computer - AML-S905X-CC (Le Potato)
The first and the latter are roughly Raspberry Clones and therefor will fit for sure in the reserved space behind the screen. The pro version is going to be probably to big and the extra compute power is not really necessary.
I already received the dashboard part including the top screen. Sadly the screen is not functioning and has some really specific connectors so I removed the original display from the case and build the AliExpress Display in the case. it fits almost perfectly but needs an extra bezel to fill up some small gaps. (pictures will follow)
After installing Raspbian on the raspberry and some frustrations with the 7 inch display (which worked good, but the touchpanel was broken and did not detect touch 10mm from the borders all around, I'm awaiting an new one at the moment )
The up comming week i have to wait for the majority of the ordered parts and will post updates ones I get them.
Dear Sebastiano,
May I ask you if you managed to succeed with this project? I have a Nissan QQ with the same version of screen on the top of my dashboard, and I would like to replace it with an Android unit, but I'm not sure which one would fit there, and if this is possible at all, so it would be a huge help to know how your project ended.

I have the same watch and I would like to root and flash a new os. But I'm looking more towards the tizen os from Samsung gear s. My previous watch is the gear s and I still use it every day. But I take this watch to work. Any help would be great thanks.
Hello, I have seen this watch. But I do not buy it. I wander how long it lasts? If I charge full night then take it with me to outside at the morning, could it stay alive up to evening?
yes it does
i charge it at night put it on in am and use it all day as long as i turn off the motion gestures to wake it it will last all day. i even have it not only to bluetooth of my phone but also to the hotspot of my phone as well i can surf net, watch videos etc it is a good watch. but i would prefer wear os on it than a tablet version of android 5.1
I bought this watch a few months ago.. battery life is not great when you are tethering to another device for internet access. I have not tried it as a standalone device. Battery life is about 12 hours max for me... (but i do have several apps installed) I would like to recieve active phone notifications on the watch, but i have not found a good phone app that keeps the notifications current. Most of the apps once disconnected, do not reconnect automatically when out of bluetooth range. This kind of watch has the most potential for doing everything a smartphone can do, (you can even watch streaming services on it) but i dont use all of those apps on a watch all the time. I mainly just want phone notifications to be consistent like a tizen or wear os watch would do. Any suggestions?
I also have this same watch. But I wish to upgrade my android version 6.0 if possible. Hopefully, with the inclusion of google assistant's wake up phrase, better speech to text capabilities, and resolution changing, this device could more hands free and useful.

Suggestions on new aftermarket stereos (Skoda octavia mk2)

Hello! I own a Skoda Octavia mk2 2008/2009 and I would like to upgrade the stereos in it. Current ones do not include bluetooth, but thats something I would love to have in it. I have thought about android stereos and something else, but seems like android would fit best? What do you think? It should work with all dashboard buttons the default stereo also works with. I have seen multiple different chinese brands in aliexpress, but I'm not sure which has the best sound quality.
My current stereo:

}
Now to the real question:
What stereo would you suggest for ~150-200€ budget WITH bluetooth? Would be awesome if you also knew that it would 100% fit.
Thank you!
Hi, i bought this from European site for 85$:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000046636557.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.4c041ae9COaKGp
I was quite surprised, it works quite fast, it is just sleeping (not turned) but does not draw much power when off (just like sleeping tablet).
Wheel buttons work, radio has strong signal. This version has only 1gb of ram, it is enough for preinstalled software but fe waze or spotify is a little slow.
Preinstalled Sygic works great but does not provide traffic info.
Beware different frame size as seen in picture, i bought used but if you are not as lucky, new costs around 1000CZK.
I also installed this launcher:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=altergames.carlauncher&hl=cs
I am sure you can find even more satisfying radio for 150+ USD, there are some models with 4GB ram and Android 10.
Is there any models you suggest for 150+ USD? I can't really find any.. :c
Hard to suggest something i am not familiar with, try to look here:
https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesal...&minPrice=120&maxPrice=200&page=1&groupsort=1
Take a look at this:
https://www.erisin.com/erisin-es272...b-carplay-for-skoda-superb-octavia-p0542.html
I have a unit for Mercedes and I'm very satisfied.
I bought mine from Pumpkin and its ok.
Make sure to buy a unit which will be delivered with an can-bus adapter for Skoda|VW!
As your car is a before-facelift model, be aware that not everything will work (parking distance, changing climate).
Also keep an eye on the battery, because on this building year the new radio can drain the battery empty.

Firmware Update

Hello,
I'm new to this area of tech. Im trying to get the latest firmware versions. Andriod Auto, and Some wheel keys wont work. Found several refrences to upgrading to B7.3.8, fixing the issues im having. I also believe my Canbus has outdated software, and the MCU can all be upgraded. The firmare on my CAN Pro ( Hiworld WeiChi-Foucs V2.24.0 ) can also be upgraded. I just can not find what exactly im supposed to download. The Firmware would have to work with a 768*1024 (mipi_YUNT_S6D7). Came with these specs in a Vertical mount.
SpecificationsSystem: Android 10.1
Memory: 2GB (RAM)+32GB (ROM)
Screen size: 9.7 inch
Screen resolution: 1024*600 WRONG
Power output: 4*45W
USB: Double USB interface
Factory setting keyword: 8888
Multilingual settings, Time setting
Tips
Please check the Voltage of car radio: 12V. Short circuit may happen if applied to different car voltage.
Please connect 3 lines correctly before turning on the monitor: Please check wiring: the black wire is connected to the negative pole, yellow wire is connected to the positive pole( 12V B+), and the red wire is connected to the ignition switch positive(ACC). If this is not turned on, the red and yellow wires can be combined and connected to the positive pole.
Please must use our power cables to connect our car radio.

Trying to get flashing and blinking on a Topway TS7

Hi Guys
I had a 2007 Mini Cooper Chilli with a non-functional radio, and went through the tons-of-fun disassembly and removal of the unit to put in this TS7 Android head unit with a view to running wired Carplay. The good news is that the onboard Amp is still functional, and I have a partly disassembled dash, a bucket of trim screws, and surprisingly good sound, with WiFi, GPS functional and playing MP3s from a USB stick in an unpowered hub.
My approach is to get everything working in Android mode first (using the house WiFi to access the internet), make sure I have a backup, then try to implement Carplay using TLink5, so idiot's guides to the best practise would be much appreciated.
The bad news is that there are a few weirdnesses - the unit currently starts up with the seat indicator lit, an alarm ringing which either times out or can be reset with the emergency flasher (go figure), but thereafter none of the arc of indicators (things like fullbeam) work, despite the speed and fuel arcs being lit and functional. So I suspect the CANBus mapping.
USB may be a little flaky (and was with only a USB stick prior to the hub) as it seems to want the stick pulled and restored after startup to register it. Running two cameras in a Mini is probably overkill. The front camera (on the 6-pin USB port) seems to have gotten over a snit whereby it refused to admit the SD card existed, then disappeared itself; video for the rear is working whilst I mount it - not sure if only one USB port can be used at once, in which case Spotify is fine rather than a stick - hopefully the front cam continues to record to its SD card. There were some internal plugins between the display unit and the head unit (unless I fell victim to 'the cable fits, so plug it in syndrome'. I tapped the reverse line to present to the camera (may need a relay) and glued and powered the dinky fan (we're tropical here).
So, back to the indicator lights. I updated the MCU (the main software was up-to-date), and I have the access codes, but when I look for the appropriate car, I can't find it (and have no clue what the 00 General; 03 Simple Soft; 13 Binary; 02 Raise etc mean or do). Mini Cooper should reside under BMW - any clues here? Getting hardware indicators running is probably a more tricky operation then mapping steering controls (the left-hand cluster and phone controls are fully functional, although the other set is not).
Many thanks in advance
Neil

Just a quick add: looks as though the audible alarms were door and seatbelt, but when things change (lights on for example, I get a pic of two seats back-to-back, rear seats and a lock, and an AC setting bar. Also the photo shows the unit style - I have the 2G/64G TS7.
