Format /data (not wipe!) from TWRP and then the errors about mounting /data will be gone. Note that this will wipe your internal memory, so you better backup your stuff before doing this.
Hi all,
No need to format data here link for twrp recovery
developped by @Mactavish.
Same as you i have an MLA-L11, and it work perfect

sound great (u have the same device)
sorry iam noob so let me ask u question
when my device was bricked i unbricked it using this thread >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/nova-plus/help/to-stock-using-fastboot-t3708585 by #Henkate
and download this frimware from here >> https://www.getdroidtips.com/b350-nougat-huawei-nova-plus/
and now my mla l11 works good
then i download huawei updater finder and found a update (2018.01.12) and i think its the last update
so i donwloaded it with (huawei update finder) .. (FULLOTA-MF) and (OTA-MF) its name (MLA-L11C432B361)
so i want to flash it but i dont know how
Note : i dont have Update on setting menu O.O
sorry for my bad english and my stupid brain xD !
Updating is depending on your region and cust, don't flush any update if it is not for you region.
Regions are defined by end letters in cust
Exmp: mine is meaf c185d001
Meaf: meadle east africa
And if your device work good why want you update it, only if it's for android 8
For the missing update botton in your menu, i think you haven't cust too
In what about phone in parameter, the cust line is missing i think
And what about theme manager ?

What is parameter ?!
Theme manger doesn't work and I tried a lot of method like create (hw_init) folder and give it permissions ...
Do you know how to solve it please
In about phone, and last line where the cust number is missing for you, no ?
And there's a thread on this forum to fix it
And i had this problem, and fixed it with creating hw_init folder
Redoo the instructions carefully and it will succed
If not, you have to flash cust.img ( you get it with update extracter) with fastboot method ( not tested !)

Before i have an ascend P7, and cust problem was solved by an update.app for cust partition delivered by huawei.
For nova there's no cust update.app from huawei

Cust number is missing I can't find it in about phone
Okay I will going to extract it
Will I flash it with trwp (you gave to me) ?
2.
I tried all the method on this forum to fix this problem and failed ( theme changer )
Let me explain the ( theme changer ) error :
When I open app (themes) it open but not show anything (blank page) .. I tried install themes from play store and it's appear on theme manger and when I click apply nothing happen !
Hope you can help me with this problem
1- No cust.img fashed in fastboot mode not TWRP
2- I create a video how to create hw_init folder for themes, hope can help you
3- For cust partion i create a TWRP backup for you, hope can help you too
to restore cust backup, first you need to create a backup for any partition from your recovery
( the reason is that Twrp create a folder for your backups in your SDcard )
then replace files in your Twrp folder by mine, and choose restore cust partition from recovery
i haven't tested it, i only want to help you
i will give you links when upload is finished if you want
before doing any thing from my last post i want to try another method
i have a file to fix cust partition you can try it, if not succeed then try the other method
it's for europe region custom.bin file, extract archive and with root explorer from your phone
go to Root and Data search custom.bin file ( it's in the end ) save your original file by copying it
then replace it by the one given ( change permission to 0644 )
reboot and see if the problem is solved

my device bricked after reboot :/ after putting ur coustme.bin and gave it perrmission
now lets stratr from 0 (fresh start) tell me the right firmware for my device cuz i was flash eu version
what can i do now !!
yes if you want official update you have to revert back to stock recovery, and i think 2 other things:
1- delete root by flashing stock boot file
2- relock bootloader

Okay,you have to download the firmware version for your country,and have custom recovery installed on the phone.
So if you in UK,download the rom for your phone from UK provider.(doesnt matter if its JB or KK)
http://www.ztedevices.com/support/index.html
Once you have the rom,Use winRAR to do the following:
1.open the rom from your country in winrar so you can see the contents.
2.Open system folder (dont extract,just navigate into the folders in winrar)
3.Open "etc" folder
4.Open Firmware folder
5.Select "modem_1_wg_n.img" and extract it(i just drag and drop on desktop)
6.Open the Kitkat firmware you've downloaded using winRAR
7.Open System folder
8.Open "etc" folder
9.Open Firmware folder
10. Copy the "modem_1_wg_n.img" into that location(drag and drop from desktop)
11.winRAR asks if you want to :Add/Replace file/s? Select Yes or OK to allow it to
12.copy entire firmware to phone and reflash it on the phone from the SD card
I dont know if you can just replace the modem file after having loaded the firmware.I didnt try or test it.it may or may not work.
I am working on Custom Firmware for this phone though.
latest achievement was i managed to get the phone to see the SD card as phone storage thanks to various xda guides.this will be built in
FIrmware should be ready in a few days after testing.if anybody is interested in trying it out,let me know
problem solved...

The thread is so useful... Keep up the good work, I don't have patience to try the new ROM!
Is there any chance for kernel supporting overclocking and undervoltage, also with more Gvernor and I/O Sheduler options?
Also Would be gorgeous if there's tap screen to wake option, this would need custom kernel too...
I'm now using DeviRSilva's kernel, which is doing great! Man, don't be afraid to relese it and continue tweaks
Still I'm a noob and maybe half of theese wishes are impossible, but would be so cool if they're possible to develop!

Convert TWRP Backup into flashable rom zip
I found these instructions that explain how to take a TWRP backup and turn it into a flashable zip file. This would allow someone to create a "factory" rom pre-rooted to be flashed.
For TWRP Backup
Transfer the TWRP backup from Phone to PC.
You’ll see a file named system.ext4.win which is the System partition backup of your device. Rename it to system.ext4.tar (Changing its extension from .win to .tar)
Extract the system.ext4.tar using an archive software like Winrar or 7zip.
If your TWRP backup is not in compression mode, you will directly get the system folder, else you will get a file named system.ext4, which should be renamed again to system.ext4.tar and extract it to get the system folder.
Take the boot.emmc.win file and rename it to boot.img.
Now collect a META-INF folder from any custom ROM which is made for your device. Make sure you get the correct Meta-Inf folder, else the Zip won’t work and might worsen the condition of your device.
Select the META-INF, System folders and the boot.img and right click your mouse and select add to Archive.
In the Archive settings, choose the extension of the compressed file as Zip (Make sure of this part)
Now you can use this Zip file to flash it on your Custom recovery.
we dont have the meta-inf folder...there is one in the update i got, but i dont know if this id the right one.
and we dont have custom rom to get meta-inf from.
also the main thing is, that i cannot unpack the system win file when renamed to .tar i dunno why (i got latest 7-zip app).

What they primarily want is the "update-binary" which is device specific. I don't remember if the update had one....I did take apart an update-supersu.zip and it uses a script as it's update binary...thought about trying to convert that. Theoretically you could take a meta-inf for another device's rom...and use it's meta-inf making sure to replace the update-binary. It also has an installer script that tells it to mount system and data....extract files from the zip and where to put them. I learned a bit when I was trying to make an update.zip to fix my build.prop.
It untar'd fine for me on my linux pc:

i allready build some roms for my older device, so i know what it is about.
For the proper rom zip you have to make the updater script with all the simlinks and metadata ...in the latest update there were no simlinks in the updater script...
without them you can brick your phone.
for example simlinks from 4.4.2 Os from zte V5
Code:
symlink("/data/misc/audio/mbhc.bin", "/system/etc/firmware/wcd9306/wcd9306_mbhc.bin");
symlink("/data/misc/audio/wcd9320_anc.bin", "/system/etc/firmware/wcd9306/wcd9306_anc.bin");
symlink("/persist/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini", "/system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini");
symlink("/persist/WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin", "/system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin");
symlink("/system/lib/modules/pronto/pronto_wlan.ko", "/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko");
symlink("Roboto-Bold.ttf", "/system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf");
symlink("Roboto-Regular.ttf", "/system/fonts/DroidSans.ttf");
symlink("libGLESv2.so", "/system/lib/libGLESv3.so");
symlink("mksh", "/system/bin/sh");
this you cannot copy from another device....
Never mind. I installed the second build.
How do I boot into the custom recovery? Is it power up + power button on the Idol 3?

Reboot or power on till you see the alcatel screen pop up....right away hold down up arrow and it should go into recovery.
Thank you so much...been waiting for this....
so now let ROM's start pouring in )))))))
Hmm odd. I had to reflash it. For some reason it didn't take the first time I flashed the second build TWRP to my Idol 3.
What partitions should I backup using TWRP? I'd assume: Boot, System, and Data? Should I include System Image too?

Hi,
I've modified original system.img file by adding su binaries and SuperSU apk.
I't the S118 ROM from this link, all the procedures are exactly the same as described here by mr.mrcn:

They did a factory reset before flashing or not?

There were problems with the installation or not?
Are you satisfied with your phone with this firmware!

No, this way you cannot do it. Update from sd card is possible only with original update files which are digitally signed by lenovo. If something is modified (added root in this case) in such package the update is not possible. But you can still flash it with miflash application.

No, i think that it's available only via OTA update, so it's without root so it can't be downloaded from the phone for rooting purposes.
Besides my Z90-z is bricked now so i'm not able to work on it.

I was basing on this book: http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-111860864X.html
And chinese rooted ROM.
The problem was to join this system_1.img system_2.img and so on files into one correct system.img file to be mounted as ext4 filesystem under linux.
There is a file rawprogram0.xml with addresses of each splitted files, but you cannot join them directly - between them there is some unused space. You can figure out how many "unused" blocks are needed between particular files from rawprogram0.xml file.

Hi all! After sarchin' on the net (and haven't found anything good), I'll make a guide on How to unroot, unbrick 'n' lock your device.
BEFORE ALL
There is one problem: The rollbacks don't exist for all models, so this guide isn't for everything models. I don't recommend to use it for India, China, Middle East regions' versions.
You can find everything needed for you
HERE for the FRD-L09
HERE for the FRD-L04 (thanks to @matt914)
TESTED DEVICES
FRD-L09 (By me)
FRD-L04 (By @matt914 again)
Code:
/*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this GUIDE
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
WHAT YOU NEED
1. Your device (that guide is only for Honor 8)
2. Your rollback and MM packages WATCH HERE
3. A MicroSD card and its MicroSD/SD or MicroSD/USB reader
4. Your PC (I've tested it with linux, but You can use Windows too).
5. Your USB cable
HOW TO
1. Download the rollback and the MM firmware from hihonor
2. Extract the zip packages, you'll find a dload folder and some pdfs (you can delete these pdfs)
FOR LINUX
3. Before all install the android-tools (google is your friend on that)
4. With THAT you'll be able to extract files from MM UPDATE.APP (thanks to @marco.minetti), you'll find lots of .img files, but we need BOOT.img and RECOVERY.img
5a. reboot your phone to fastboot (Vol-/Power while plug it to your PC)
5b. Open a terminal on the folder where you have the previous 2 files and type:
Code:
sudo fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
sudo fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
sudo fastboot reboot
6a. Your device now is semi-bricked (it can reboot to erecovery and to fastboot but it can't boot)
6b. Shut down your device (long press Power, it will reboot. Press vol+ while asked and boot to erecovery, than shutdown)
7a. Put your rollback's dload folder on the root of the MicroSD (NOT THE INTERNAL MEMORY!)(Use a MicroSD reader)
7b. Insert the MicroSD on your Honor
8. Press Vol+/Vol-/Power and it will start flashing the rollback
9. Your device still in a semi-bricked condition
10. Make passage 7 and 8 again with the MM firmware
11. Now it will boot up without any problem and with MM installed
FOR WINDOWS
3. Before all install the minimal android tool (google is your friend on that)
4. With Huawei Extractor tool, you'll find lots of .img files, but we need BOOT.img and RECOVERY.img (FROM THE MM UPDATE.APP)
5a. reboot your phone to fastboot (Vol-/Power while plug it to your PC)
5b. Open a CMD (with administrator access) on the folder where you have the previous 2 files and type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot reboot
AT THE END
If you have followed the instructions correctly you'll with a device with MM firmware. It will download b380 and than b389 (for the FRD-L09 version).
Flashing the MM package will lock your device (not relock) so you don't need the fastboot oem lock [key]

Hi
After an update (official!) I re-encountered BALONG. After using your marvelous tool, it worked again, but there's no need to reset device (as written on CMD).
In addition, for the ones that get the error "no device attached" or something similar, you've only to reboot to TWRP, connect the phone to Windows and press Win+X, click on "device manager", look for "android device" or something similar. Right click on it and select "update driver", click the second option and than select that you already have the CD driver. You'll see a list: select "ADB composite device" and than finish: you've done!
Ah, I was about to forget: thank you!

Hi.
Thanks for fast answer. I could fix the problem.
I downloaded the EMUI 3.1 as Magyar Telekom firmware from an arabic server cause ru huawei servers doesnt work lol. So I downloaded it I extracted boot, recovery, system, cust img files from UPDATE.APP with Huawei AppImage Extractor application. I flashed these with fastboot (Not TWRP, not huawei recovery). Fastboot from computer. Ok. But at the moment SIM does not work. I upgraded the system from Huawei update from settings (not recovery, system settings). After update the ROM and SIM is work perfectly.
Btw thanks your answer, topices too. This is a big help from you.
Have a nice day, Balázs.

I've tried to use it but i get this error after TWRP boot :
mount: No such file or directory
mkdir: '/cust/hw': No such file or directory
ln: cannot create symbolic link from '/cust/hw/eu' to '/cust/hw/meafnaf': No such file or directory
Is there any solution for this?
