I'm searching for good offline dictionary for my nook.
I have found quickdic where are many dictionaries and english dic is over 130 MB.
Unfortunately all downloadable dictionaries links are dead.
Do you have any working offline dictionary for android 2.1?

I use the Aard dictionaries and encyclopedias, on a 32 GB SD card, and they are excellent. They include Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Collaborative Dictionary, and WordNet and occupy around 25 GB space. There is scarcely a word, in any language, I cannot find, and response is fast. Aard is integrated with CoolReader, which is also excellent. Without Aard, I would still be reading the odd paper book.
Aard is available from the Google Play Store.
@Joydeck Aard is like using an elephant gun to kill a gnat. It's truly a great tool but 1.7 GB english dictionary? It's obvious overkill.
I don't need every word english language ever had but probably around 20 thousand most popular ones.

Whereas I do need just about every word, and not just in English!
Why not use Aard with just Wordnet if you want something simpler and smaller?
ColorDict has been mentioned on the forum in the past?
@nmyshkin ColorDict is what I was looking for

Mind share with us the download link, so we could test it out?
yes yes download link
SlideIT and www.shapewriter.com
I haven't tried SlideIT, but I have been using shapewriter for awhile. Only downside is that shapewriter isn't recognized when using a few 1 or 2 apps.
SlideIt
I tried the Shapewriter beta when it came out for WM. I went and bought Slideit as it is much better. It has a mini graffiti and it easily learns words and you can turn off the recognition mode for passwords and other spcecial needs. I am running this on a Kaiser and use the KB all the time and now I rarely use it. Not sure I would even worry about a qwerty kb again with this app.
OK I TAKE MY COMMENT ABOUT SHAPEWRITER BACK
i reinstalled it into my phone and WOW lol
its really easy to use.
i think everything should try it out
any free software available?
Awesome
I am the slowest typer/texter ever. So I just purchased the ShapeWriter and it is worth every penny.
I think this is the second best thing ever created, next to toilet paper.
It's nice, but unusable for me, because I usually write in Czech!
new version should support xT9 and I've found ShapeWriter with czech t9 from sunny soft -> PM
Yeah... English, but how the **** will they port it to other languages? Import whole dictionaries or what... lol.

I'm really interested to see how swype will work... I've signed up so I get notification when its out
I downloaded ShapeWriter and its working on my unlocked Fuze. I paid $19.99 for it.
Please see message #141
THANK YOU! So much. Can't wait to try.
very fun to use, takes a bit of getting used to at first entering words but you soon begin to pick up speed and accuracy!
Is this freeware then?

Haha, I would be using the term "legit" very loosely if I agreed with you. If this was "legit", then all the cooked ROMs would be "legit". And since HTC and M$ hasn't seriously cracked down on them, then they have to be legit!
Nonetheless, Swype works great. I really like the size of the keys in landscape. I wish the default landscape keyboard was of this size (with the space bar on the bottom rather than on the side, of course).
sounds good enough for me!
and yea the landscape keyboard is quite good to use
It was quite good and interesting.. although wonder if there is any support for other languages aswell.. for example norwegian and dutch
I've never heard of this before, but I just-now installed it -- it's quite cool and works amazingly well!
From the guy who co-invented T9 text input...
I'll give it a try although it does seems a bit complicated to use but from what user say so far it works good and much faster then typing...does XT9 work with this?
Thats a cool KB I have a question though, does anybody know whether we can make the TP messages and all backgrounds within the system BLACK instead of the default white? It will sharp up the contrast and will be definitely cool!!!!
Thx
I installed this and it is awesome, highly recommend it to anyone.
Now this is freaking Awesome ............
installed it on my german rom, but get an error. can't find english_us or similar. are there some options to change the language?

SlideIT supports the following languages:
Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.
They are going to add more additional languages as :
Turkish, Croatian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Greek, Estonian, Slovak and Polish.

All these languages...but no English?
Or is English assumed?
I installed the cab and installation went fine. But I don't see option to "swype" in my virtual keyboard. Do I have to enable it?
(I'm running Tmobile stock ROM, if that matters)
So, if you click the little triangle next to the pic of the keyboard you don't see the Swype option below?
Also, many people don't know that Swype has an options screen so I've included pics of them too.
pretty sweet keyboard. Really polished. Works as a nice alternative to EzInput. Perhaps we'll find some themes and stuff for it.
Just Downloaded it and will try it out. Looks pretty cool though.
I know that I am an outsider here now (used to have a xv6700 and a xv6800)
I have an Omnia I910 custom rom, I installed this I have the option for it but when I select it, it looks extremely distorted andI am unable to see anything to use it any ideas?
oh btw cant wait for HTC HD2 to get here I want one so bad
Anybody use it? I got a cab, and it's pretty awesome.
Swype Videos
I'm thinking it should be built into a rom, but don't know if i should post it for copyright reasons.

u know the rules , u told us about it so u gotta deliver
WOW!! This looks amazing. Looking through their site, it doesn't look as though they would mind, as they are trying to have it distributed as OEM and have a beta group in progress at the moment.
i also tried swype. but its no option for me. you need many practice i think.
the resisitve screen from tg01 is not so good for this prog. the screen faster gets dirty and will be scratched, if you use this for long time i think.
on other screens like the hd2 it would work better.
Ive been using this keyboard for a few months now and it works 100% perfectly on my TG01.
If you dont want your screen scratched you can either:
1) Buy a screen protector
2) Not use your phone at all
Im using a martin fields overlay plus screen protector, and any slight scratches that may have appeared are gone within 2 days. Those scratches arent from using swype though
I've had no problems with scratches either.. just don't wrap your fingers in sand paper and you should be fine
SlideIT
I personally use SlideIT as an alternative to Swipe, same functionality but a less cluttered keyboard. Would highly recommend.
Cheers,
is very good but it don't had romanian language
swype is my fav keyboard i've ever used, i really would check with the rights holder before ditributing it in a rom though...
I use it for about 1 month and meanwhile it's my favorite keyboard ever..
Accuracy is amazing and it looks so cool. Couldn't get enough of it.

Do some research. It took me about half an hour of googling to find the swype cab for free.
Try ShapeWriter. Same thing and its free in the market. Takes a little getting used to, but you can really fly with this thing

Hi there everyone - i am looking for a good NIV or NASB for my HD2. I have seen the trial bibles on the Marketplace and I dont really like them. Looking for something w a little more function. Thanks.
I use an amplified version that I had originally purchased for my iphone from olivetree.com and fortunately was able to transfer the rights to my Hd2. They do have a demo of the NASB and they do have free Bibles should you find one but you would have to purchase the full version but you may find it worth it.
Mine took a little getting used to with the new platform but what I like about it is the autoscroll so you can set to the speed you prefer and read as you go.

I'm not sure about this one as it's no longer supported, but it's free and worth checking out...

Well, I checked out e-sword. The interface is not great.
It does, however, have some excellent features.
First of all, there's a number of translations, commentaries and Bible dictionaries.
Second, it has a feature where you can look at up to four parallel translations side-by-side for the same scripture. You decide which four translations to use.
Third, It's fast, fairly clear and you can jump to the next chapter quickly. You can bookmark, highlight and even make notes for any text in any of the supported translations.
It would be nice if it were more finger friendly and flashy looking, but for the price, it's pretty good.

i think ill stick to swype.
For me personally, too, is not easy
I agree that using it is not easy at early but once we getting used to it then its awesome it has the unique features like time button & predefined keywords that other keyboard don't have

Swiftkey X is still the BEST in my opinion. You guys should try it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...S50b3VjaHR5cGUuc3dpZnRrZXkucGhvbmUudHJpYWwiXQ..
it looks kewl just need more settings
i try this but i really love swype keyboard....
I had installed it but I could not adjust to it. siwftkeyX is the best
it comes with a pretty steep learning curve and it's still a nascent idea. But give it some time and a whole lot of research and it may rival the best(bar swype, that is). a collaboration between swype and siine would be a wet dream. (they can name it siipe or, yeah you guessed it swiine)
