Is my SM-G530T bricked? - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm a total novice when it comes to android modifications and whatnot, so I'll make this to the point.
I was trying to help my dad uninstall the bloatware on his Galaxy Grand Prime (running Lolipop 5.1.1), which includes some of the apps listed in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/help/bloatware-apps-t3079843
I used Kingoroot (which I read worked with mixed results) to one-click root his phone and used Root Uninstaller (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.rootuninstaller&hl=en) to uninstall Samsung Account, Samsung Push service, Samsung Billing, Galaxy apps, and TMobile TV. Root Uninstaller said it required a reboot to uninstall packages so I rebooted and was greeted with a never-ending TMobile splash screen that would vibrate 4 times every 10-ish seconds. I cannot boot into safe mode either as I've tried the methods shown on TMobile's own website to do so with this model to no avail.
I've tried looking up the vibrating splash screen and some said that means it's bricked.
Is there any way to fix this without any loss of data?
Thanks.

Does that format the storage to do so or does it simply restore it to stock 5.1.1? I have no idea how to flash ROMs so pardon my questions.

No. It shouldn't format SD card storage or anything in sort. Although after flashing the firmware still doesn't fixed the bootloop issue your having then only way is to hard reset everything (which will wipe everything from data to storage files).
Check out this thread for flashing ROMs. It has great instructions for even beginners or noobs.

[Q] Remove Custom & "Lock" logo on boot screen

Hello all,
I have a Samsung Galxy S5 with AT&T model SM-G900A. Any time the phone reboots, on the "Samsung Galaxy S5" boot screen, it says "Custom" and has an "Unlocked Padlock" logo as if the phone were rooted or something. A while back, I was trying to do a basic root to allow use of Titanium Backup using the Towelroot app, which failed because it said my phone was not supported. I'm not sure if this has caused it, or if, as I read elsewhere, it was caused by my once changing from Dalvik to ART. However, I have since switched back to Dalvik, I know its not rooted because SU and other such apps wont work, and I have even Factory Reset the device but I can not get rid of this. I would like to return my phone to its default state. How can I get rid of this "Custom" and Lock Logo? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
-Noomrise
It won't hurt anything as long as Knox isn't tripped but you can download the full stock retail ROM and flash it in Odin or Kies 3.
Update: Phone thinks its rooted?

Okay, so here is an update. After performing a factory reset in order to try and fix this issue, I was playing around and opened the "Softcard" app and received the message that it doesn't work on rooted phones. Since the Towelroot app did not work, I don't understand this. I have also been unable to get SuperUser to install binaries, saying the phone is not rooted. Don't know what this means or if it helps, but thought id give an update. Thanks again!
Would you be so kind as to provide me with a link to the retail ROM and instructions on flashing it through Kies 3? THANKS!
I'd have to do a search. .. or you could. ?

Thanks, I found the file (I hope) and downloaded odin, and it is currently flashing. I will let you know if it a) removes the custom lock and b) fixes the softcard app thinking the phone is rooted. Thanks for your help!
It Worked!!!!!

I would like to report that flashing the stock ROM has fixed both the Custom Lock boot screen as well as SoftCard thinking my phone was rooted. Thank you Rapunzl for your help, you are awesome!

[Q] Quick Question If Someone Has a Moment, Please

I just swapped from my Amaze 4g, to a used Note 3, and I'm a little lost as far as where I should start.
It says that it's on 4.4.2, and that I cannot update due to a modified system.
Basically, I would like to get updated to 5.1.1 (or as close as is official for the Note 3), and root it.
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Samsung devices, and because I purchased this from ebay, I don't know how to tell the exact state that the former user put it in (I expected they would return it to stock prior to selling).
It's currently a T-Mobile branded, SM-N900T, on 4.4.2, build is KOT49H, security software MDF v1.0 release 2. Kernel is 3.4.0-660648.
It is supposedly unlocked for carriers, though I have not attempted a SIM card use yet, until I can tell that what I have is a valid device and the IMEI is checked out.
Any thoughts on how to validate the IMEI, and sort out how to get my new phone up to date would be appreciated. As I stated, I expected the vendor would have returned it to stock, but that is clearly not the case, so I don't want to accidentally boot loop it by doing something I shouldn't. I have not owned a Samsung before, so I want to be careful on how it differs from my Nexus 7, Amaze 4g, and Droid X, as they're all obviously very different in the OS area.
Thank you for the help1
Download tbe stock 4.4.2 rom and use odin to install. Then you will get the OTA updates.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
There is no stock 5.1.1 for note 3, only cm12.1/ aosp. Latest is 5.0 and you can use odin to flash. Maybe it's rooted that's why you can't update.

Some apps to install from Play Store...
Phone INFO Samsung - this will tell you all about your phone and the firmware etc.
Root Checker Basic - tells you if you are rooted or not.
SuperSU - this is so valuable you should buy the Pro licence. Chainfire does some great work for our phones.
TWRP - I have the zip version on my extSDCard and an Odin version on PC in case I have to rebuild from a Stock firmware. CWN works OK but most ROM builds seem to be for TWRP I think and a backup from one will not work on the other.
I don't know your previous phone so you probably need Odin v3.09 - this sits on PC and lets you flash firmware to the phone. (connected by USB)
For which you need Samsung USB drivers so the PC will recognise the phone. Install on PC before connecting phone.
Then do some browsing and find the processes to root your phone and install the ROM you want. If you just want Stock and access to all your phone, you can root it after flashing the original v5.0 download (from Sammobile or similar site - note on Sammobile you need a free account to DL) and then install Custom recovery (if wanted - it WILL trip the Knox flag but that may not matter given it's 2nd hand and might already be tripped anyway)
Read, make SURE you understand what is being said BEFORE you do anything - ask if you don't.
Good luck...
N9005 Lollipop brick
Hi All, just need a huge help here, a friend of mine has been using a N9005 which was auto restarting, she went online and downloaded this firmware...N900AUCUEOC1_N900AATTEOC1_N900AUCUEOC1_HOME.tar.md5....2.5GB in size...and flashed it, but the phone is stuck in boot loop even after recovery wiping data and cache, the phone can boot into download mode but re flashing the firmware always fails.....is there a solution for this.....please help
Thank you all for the info, especially the detailed info from Journyman16. I checked, and it is flagged as custom, which is fine, so I'm going to go ahead and try to return to mostly stock, update it, and root it.
Ok, everything went well. I had to do two attempts at rooting, but I think it's just one of those things where sometimes it doesn't restart into the process every time.
All seems good. I'm on 5.0, rooted, busyboxed, and smooth sailing.
Thank you all, again, for the tips. The Note 3 is running very well. Thank you to all of the devs that have made this process so refined. I've donated to you before, and did so again today. It's outstanding to have such well versed coders, on XDA, helping out the community.

ADB Shell on T337A / Stuck at AT&T boot logo 5.1.1

Installed Kingoroot and Xposed framework and stuck at boot screen. Most fixes seem to require ADB Sideload but I'm getting "closed" as a response. No stock rom seems to be available and I am on stock FW. Everything I've tried has failed and I believe it's due to being on AT&T lockdown. If I can just get Xposed disabled, I feel like that will work.
Thoughts?

You are screwed. No way to fix it. I like others did the same thing and I even brought it to a Best Buy store and talked to someone at the Samsung customer service. They checked out the device, saw that it was rooted and showed the custom lock on boot and would not reflash the firmware. There is no official firmware either for this device. I borrowed my friend's device and was able to pull the /system dump to create the boot.img, recovery.img and system.img files but they failed to flash in odin on my device when I tried. I noticed that the system dump showed the year 2014 so I assume that Samsung found a way to block everyone from getting the partition information from the lollipop update so no one will be able to recover their device. Would explain why no developer was able to make factory images for lollipop for this device. Sorry. You could try bringing it to a Best Buy store but I'm willing to bet that they won't help you either.
I have deleted the other files from my Google Drive and replaced it with one file. I have created a new thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-...-4-sm-t3439252 OFFICIAL FIRMWARE FOR THE AT&T TAB 4.

I have lately been actively working with the same tablet and have hit this little stop several times. It is 100% fixable.
First go the this link and download the T337A 5.1.1 OS: https://mega.nz/#!0Q4AXQgZ!Df-pTUo6eA80kGTrzpYCAJ0ilGbUzMYCE4nRtvume6s
Second, If the tablet is stuck on the ATT boot logo press and hold the power button and volume down. This is a force restart.
Once it turns off press and hold the volume down and home button to boot into download mode.
From here plug the tablet into your laptop and open up Odin. Link: http://odindownload.com/
In odin open the OS file you downloaded in the AP box.
Once Odin is ready just click start and it should restore your device to new with 5.1.1
Thanks goes to MichaelSaya for getting a 5.1.1 OS for the T337A!

Verizon samsung galaxy note 3 sm-900v please help

I have a veriozon samsung note 3 sm-n900v
today its bricked..please help
its showing secure fail : Recovery
and a caution symbol with "system software not authorized by verizon..........
Please help...it was running on lollipop
The symptom you described occurs when you flash an unsigned recovery image to the recovery partition (without unlocking the bootloader). Or possibly that the recovery partition got damaged somehow and thereafter you tried booting into recovery.
Are we talking about a pure stock phone or a previously rooted phone?
Assuming nothing else happened, your phone should boot normally so long as you can get it to stop attempting to boot the recovery.
Try this:
1) Pull battery. Wait 10 seconds. Make sure USB port is not plugged in to anything. Re-insert battery.
2) Restart phone with Vol-Down+Home+Power
3) Select "Cancel" when the warning about Download mode appears.
The above procedure clears the "BCB" - the Boot Communication Block, which is causing the phone to always attempt to boot the recovery rather than the normal boot.
If the above does not work, the put the phone in to Odin mode and flash a Stock ROM.
If your phone tries to boot, it is not "bricked"; not even close to that.

I'm in Togo (west Africa) i buy this model for my friend.the fone came with a patched rom(or modificate rom) so we don't see Verizon logo on the boot.a few day after buy the fone i try to root it so the fone brick. i flash with the odin (with the same file like for you).the fone work correctly but "showing that the sim is not from Verizon"(normal because you don't use Verizon network).
And "the wifi hotspot not working"but we can use Xender normaly.
So i think your cas is normal (the fone works now with the original rom not the patched rom ou modificate rom).
I tried to find the pactched rom who came with the fone but i don't find it.
For the root now i use Kingroot and it work.after root you can uninstall or desable some Verizon.
For the hostpot i don't find the methode to get it work.

thanks for your response sir
its not rooting anymore..tried kingoroot and root genious too
The only rooting tool for OB6 that has been widely discussed here (and used with some degree of success) is the Yemen rooting tool.
I can't help you "make your phone like it used to be" because you never even said what that previous condition was.
It sounds like you bought the phone from someone who had rooted it and patched it or installed a custom ROM, but that's just a guess.
If you can get it rooted there are instructions in this forum for installing TWRP; you just need to find them & read them.
