My HTC HD stopped responding to taps. Boots up OK. LCD is not cracked. I suspected touchscreen problem/ They checked my serial# and told that I'm still under warranty. Great ! So I sent device to HTC repair center in USA. They told me that it has a problem which is NOT covered by warranty and gave me HUGE price to fix it.
See email below

Dear Valued Customer,
This is documentation to provide suggested action repairs and quotation for
each service rendered.
RMA # xxxxxxxxx
Diagnosis:
LCD has Newton Ring
Suggested Repair:
Motherboard and LCD
Total Repair Price:
$546.08
------------------------------------------------------
Obviously I do not want to repair at that price. I can buy new HTC HD at this price. Can somebody explain what is
1. Newton ring
2. Why do I need to replace motherboard if phone boots up FINE ?
Anyway I asked HTC to NOT repair my phone and send it back. Can somebody recommend me good mail-in repair center in USA ? Some people can replace touchscreen/LCD by themselves, but that is NOT me

Here's an alternative worth looking at if you still wanna keep an HD
sell it AS-IS Broken on ebay...get about $200 for it.
Buy as USED one on ebay for bout $350.
You'll be out of $150...there thats a reasonable repair cost.
Just an idea..I have seen broken items go for a considerable amount of change on ebay( people use the parts, repair them themselves, all sorts of things), Any repair charge is gonna be over $100 unless you do it yourself so its worth looking into imo.

Actually, it will be more then $150. Because of eBay/PayPal fees And I know that my HD was in InvisibleSHIELD from day 1. It will be hard to buy such "like new cosmetic condition" HD for $350
I'll try local repair shops. Here I was wondering if somebody used REPUTABLE online repairs.
Yea...maybe so then.
Im in the US too, I'll keep an ear out for ya. If I come across anything I'll shoot ya a PM or post it. Good luck, homie!!
Greetings,
I was wondering. A few weeks back I broke the glass on my HTC HD2. It was only the glass, because the screen and touch capability was working as usual.
Sent it in for repairs same day as it was broken, and this is week 3 now, and they are still waiting to get the parts for it.
Also they told me that they could not just replace the glass, but they had to replace everything, including the LCD and all. Is this correct? Because it's getting quite costly for me, since they estimated that the repairs would be around $420 / 2500NOK / £280.
Is this true? Do you have to replace everything? Or are they just saying it to earn some more $$$. I'm guessing they're not paying that much to buy the parts.
They have to because from what I have read, the LCD is glued to the digitizer.

Is this what you are looking for?

that is simply robbery. TMobile US is selling brand new HD2's for that price. can't you find another service center?
On ebay a digitizer for touch hd costs about 50 €. the lcd display alone wouldnt be that expensive too i think.
http://cgi.ebay.de/Touch-Screen-Dig...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL?hash=item414c3bcbdb
And even in the store that other guy gave you the link to there is a huge price difference to the price you were told to pay.
For that price just buy a new one and save that for pieces
It sounds expensive to me. I saw iPhone screen repairs advertised for £39. It's not the same screen, I know, and there are more iPhones around, but I'd expect the cost to be similar.
Is anyone here familiar with how much I'll have to spend to get the screen repaired for me?
My screen finally cracked after someone knocked it out of my hand, my bumper wasn't sufficient for this kind of impact. The bottom half of the screen doesn't function.

I saw your location was NY. So I just told you that in India its for Rs. 4500 which is more or less $75 if your convert the currency. But you should call up LG services for the exact prices.
Got mine fixed for $180 and thought it was a bargain others charged $250 btw I'm in australia

Seems like it's cheaper to repair overseas than in the us. I don't have the money to spend 180 on screen repairs so close to the holidays. I think I'll sell this cracked one, then switch to my galaxy s1.

I bought the screen (LCD + digitizer + frame) all in one piece on eBay for $128 and replaced it myself. If you haven't done it before, it might take you about 1.5 hours..

I don't think I'm skilled enough with hardware to pull this off. I would likely mess up. I was thinking about trading it in to tmobile and just using my S1 until I can save for Project ara from moto next year.

Doesn't make sense to spend nearly $200 on repairs for a problem that's affecting ~15% of my screen. I've been using my phone upside via rotation to overcome the dead zone.
However I cannot stand knowing a crack is on my phone, this is the first device I've allowed this to happen to ever.

They are just trying to rip you off. Call up the LG service care helpline if you haven't already and ask em about the prices. Because these repair centers are usually authorized one and can quote anything. Happened with my HTC sensation. They charged me Rs. 11000 for the screen and when I confirmed with HTC they said its for 4000 about 2 years ago. So be sure about getting it repaired anywhere. Hope things work out for you. Sad to see another device on its death bed.

Hello Rishav,
I dropped my Nexus 4 yesterday...the display is now cracked and unresponsive to touch, so I cannot get past the screen unlock pattern. I read your post that it costs Rs. 4500 to get the screen/digitizer replaced in India.
I was wondering if you know where I could get it done in Pune. I see that your location is Gurgaon but any info you have / could provide would be appreciated. I searched on Google for Nexus 4 repairs in Pune but haven't come across anything useful.
Thanks in advance!
Rahul
Just contacted LG via live chat, and apparently it'll be between 100 and $180. I'm going with 180 because the frame, digitizer, and screen are all damaged. Sadly I don't have $180 right now(have to worry about tuition, transportation, bills, etc.). Think I'll just sell it on eBay or whatever.

Hmm. That's bad. Well, in India the screen, digitizer and the silver bezel around the screen is for the price mentioned above. I'd suggest you keep the Nex for a while and get it fixed after a few months. I mean it's your call.

Hi I work in a phone repair shop in the uk. I don't recommend just changing the glass. It's nigh on impossible to do without damaging the digitizer. You need to change the glass/digi/lcd and frame complete. The part you need is about £85 on ebay so a shop is gonna do it between £120-£150. Anything over that is a bit pricey.
LG is repairing mine this week for 153.00
Symptom/Cause: Damaged housing need full Refurbishment (LCD, TW, Back glass, Cosmetics)
Repair Cost: $ 153.00
My phone dropped on vacation and cracked..I want to know how I would be able to tell the screen being used to repair my screen is the correct screen for my phone etc.. and how much is reasonable to pay for this screen replacement.
Perhaps contacting Samsung is the best option. If you let them repair it, it might cost more than your local specialist, but you can be sure to receive authentic parts. Perhaps other members can help you further though. Good luck!

I called Samsung and they said something like $300. My Gf was walking around town when she saw a repair shop and asked about the note 4. He said he could could give me a good screen for 150 and 300 for the official screen.
Has anyone actually sent their phone in to Samsung or got an official quote lately on the price to replace the lcd? It seems I've heard 190 from another forum and the two different prices listed here. Does anyone have a definitive price?

Just an FYI Samsung DOES charge tax on repairs...
On an average it takes around $80- $120 depending on which phone you have and if your device is still under warranty or not.
You can get a repair kit in around $50-$80, which seems to be a lot lesser but it is bit risky to do it yourself, unless you are an expert in handling compact wirings and structure. buy the repair parts at the amazon, ebay or hcqs
Would be better if you tell us where do you live. For example in Argentina it costs around $350 USD (yep, 3/4 of the Note 4's actual price). But in the USA they're around 120-150 USD aprox (screen plus glass). If you want my advice: dont try to repair it by yourself nor buy the "glass only replacement" since most of them are aftermarket copies. Remember that your phone is glued between the screen and the middle frame so you will need quite a lot of patience (and a heat gun) and thats just for separate the phone and the actual screen. It's just my experience.
In India, replacing the glass on phones is very common. My note 4 shattered today, and the gorilla glass is obviously fairly pathetic. Has anyone tried getting just the glass replaced? Touch works fine on my phone.
Options in Delhi: Nehru Place maybe?
Would really appreciate some inputs.
I got a broken s7 edge with a defective LCD screen from a friend. There are no visible cracks/drops on the phone and the buttons seem to light up with sounds etc.
I walked into the Canadian Samsung official repair store (not authorized ones) and they said they don't service International phones and I should call 1800-SAMSUNG and should be getting a replacement since it is defective.
I called them after and they said international version is not covered at all in Canada. I asked if where I can ship it to them, they said it doesn't matter.
Is there anything I can do to repair this phone with Samsung or get it replaced?

Instead getting you to run circles or jump hoops
I will be honest with you and tell you that there
is no way to get samsung to repair or to replace
your phone.
You need to go to an authorized samsung repair
shop locally or an online samsung repair service
and pay to have them repair your phone.
If I were you I would start googling to find one
if I wanted to keep and use the phone. LOL
Good luck,
Have a great day

Thank you for replying. How much would this be to repair the screen? Since a new phone is around $1000 CAD i am not sure if it is worth it do pay for the repair
I live in Canada and have a Canadian version. Just to order a screen assembly is $300 CAD or more. You are probably looking at a $400 or $500 repair. Look around but I think that is pretty average. Also, you might not want to test the water resistance after the repair. Forging in how much you paid you might want to try and get a couple hundred out of it on Kijiji and put that towards a new phone.
You're better off ordering the parts online and fixing it yourself or going to a repair shop
