OTA Update for Rooted J730XX? - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Questions & Answers

I was wondering if ever we got a huge and nice update in the near future, is it possible to update your device via the OTA Software update even though your device is rooted?
If so, how?
A link to an existing thread would be appreciated too. Thanks!

How do we update firmware once rooted?

Title says it all.. I read that once you root the hero you cannot receive firmware updates OTA. Is this true? If it is, then how can we update our devices?
I had a stock ROM rooted, and was able to receive the OTA update and it successfully applied.
So I have MoDaCo installed, can I install the update over it?
thank you for any help
Anyway to install with a stock rom, without using the built in OTA update tool?

Not from sprint, but you can load the newest FreshROM over it and be updated. However be aware that the rom breaks the link between media being played the and bt device.

I assume there should be a download of it somewhere, if not sprint, google, or HTC, then on some forum....

Hey. So I've got a newly rooted S5 here (Exynos version). And I was wondering now that OTA updates won't function (rooted), how to get those updates ? And the consequences, Do I lose root after updating ? Can it harm the phone or anythn ?
Thanks in Advance
You've to go back to Stock firmware..
Then you'll able to receive OTA updates..

I understand. But apart from the OTA updates on the phone, There is Kies. But I'm not sure about the consequences and all.
If you update via kies you will loose your root but im not sure kies will let you update with a rooted rom.
Never used kies cause its trash

Nope, I've done it once and lost nothing, was pretty quick and straight forward actually, even kept my current settings.

OTA updates with root

Hey all, as a new galaxy user I wonder if anyone has a solution to my current problem. I have a rooted S8 with the stock rom installed.. However it won't let me update at all including OTA. I wonder if anyone had a solution or workaround they could direct me to?
Thanks in advance!
there is no workaround... to make long story short, - just download latest firmware for your device and flash via Odin, re-root.

I rooted my phone. When manually looking for updates it says that OS was modified without permission... Will I be able to upgrade to Nougat? Do I need any workaround? Thank you.

Flash the firmware via odin, download the appropriate version you want and flash this via odin. If you are looking to update to Oreo 8.0 you need to use the latest version of Odin. Many threads on XDA giving steps and the firmware can be had via updato.
why dont you get ota updates?
