Need help porting 935f/fd/k/l/s roms to 935j - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Need help to port roms to 935j scv33/sc-02h.
Bootloader is not locked. We have twrp available.
Please help.

Save ur self the hassle bro, just to swap it for a better model, you have an array of roms to try with the right model, it's not worth the trouble

No-one in this section will have that device as this forum is for the g935/f etc.
No-one can port without a device to work on (For testing etc). XDA doesnt allow blind building due to the possibility of potentially bricking peoples phones. If i tried to port a rom to your model without owning it, you flashed it and bricked your device - would you be ok with that?
If you have the device, the best thing is to learn whats required and do it yourself...

Stories about your phone//Brick

I am intrested in the past times, when the X8 was new on XDA and there were no custom kernels and the bootloader unlock was new. I have heard about many people who hard bricked their lovely phone. When found the devs the date code thing out?

In opinion, a hard-brick is all but impossible on the X8. True, a work-around may not be available yet but .... a hard-brick ...? *chuckles*

It's a "hard-brick" when your phone cannot be powered on, and cannot be recognized by your computer.
So the solution is already here, it is to write to the phone with UART or JTAG cables.

How to fix Gamma color on the S4 ? [ rooting experts requested ]

I found some apps that can fix Gamma but require the phone to be rooted.
How do I start with that ?? Will I lose phone memory ?
I have a sim-free S4 unlocked, with a yellow tint issue. Replaced it and the issue is still there. Apps online require the phone to be rooted in order to change Gamma settings.
Would appreciate any advice.
Did you adjust it from auto to dynamic. Under settings then display

I believe gamma adjustments require both root and custom kernel. For real screen caliberation you need to wait for bootloader unlock and subsequent dev support. In the mean time, try an app called Filter My Screen. It might help a bit.

Thank you for replying. Can you please expand on what you meant ? I just moved from an iPhone so kinda new to the whole rooting thing.
There are many kernels lying around in the forum here that supports the S4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2261
What are those then ? and how does the bootloader unlock differs from it ? Furthermore, can I restore my phone after rooting if I change my mind ? (so that my warranty is not void anymore)

I dont see any custom kernels there. To find iut what they are, you gotta read the threads
Rooting and unlocked bootloader are different. One allows access to <root>, similar to your computers C:\ directory, the other gives access to the bootloader which basically dictates what happens prior to the Android OS being loaded....think of it as the BIOS of your phone or the master boot records. You should really read up more about Android OS in general before doing anything
I THINK you can root and reverse without triggering a flag, but someone whos done it shoukd answer that

Oh I see. So what is the solution for "Advanced Color & Gamma Control" to work ? Just rooting or using a custom kernel too ?

It says it in the first lines of the app description in all caps: custom kernel only, Nexus 4 only....you cant use this app.
And please dont double post in General and QA, it fragments responses.
Edit: if you have an unlocked sim free version, you should post in the international forum regarding development issues, not ATT.

Here is it, the new update 17.1.A.0.402 für the 16GB WiFi model SGP511! (Downloaded in Germany.)

Have fun! It works, flashed it myself on my unlocked device.
P.S.: Somehow it was not possible to enter caps for the thread title - they always were automatically changed to lowercase. How's that??

The forum software often has a restriction not to allow only caps in the title, you need to have at least one lower-case character.
I have the wifi version also but my device unlocked and rooted, if i flash it from recovery will it wipe everything ??
thanx
You can't flash a FTF from recovery.
Only with Flashtool.
You can set in Flashtool which wipes you want or not.
Root and recovery will be gone, and to regain them we have to wait for Doomlord releasing a new custom kernel suited for .402 firmware.
17.1.A.2.36 vs 17.1.A.0.402
to me this one looks old then what came installed on the tablet ??? according to the numbers

Hasenbein1966: I guess this forum is meant for helping each other, right ?
If we just throw in some technical terms which won't mean much to others, we should not wonder if the same "others" brick their devices - and then need to ask for far more help.
Providing a single link costs us 10 seconds and makes asker and follow-up readers quite happy and safe.
Keeping "secrets" for ourselves might lead others into great trouble, causing real problems and far more effort to the "experts" - now dealing with an issue with no simple 10-seconds-solution anymore.
"Spoonfeeding" a human baby is a vital step for it learning how to eat without any further help. It's a principle working very well for millenniums, a first step to being able to help yourself. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Hi chef, i saw this flashtool too but it says i have to be unlocked. I also saw a flashtool from here and it doesn't say i have to be unlocked. I wanted to stay locked but flashing a newer firmware(different software customization). Is that possible

I just don't know. - I didn't root my Z2s till now because I a) don't want to lose the X-Reality video enhancement, and b) still got no Z2 without any manufacturing defects/touchscreen issues (even after upgrading to .402). :/

Why not try it and report back. If it succeed without unlocking, then great, if not, you don't loose anything. I used the one you linked too successfully on Mac, but mine is unlocked.
If you flash a FTF with the xda flashtool, you don't need to be unlocked. This is the flashtool which is always meant in discussions here, not the Sony one with the same name.

Dude, if you can't do a little research, then i strongly suggest you avoid attempting to modify your phone. Sorry to sound rude, im having a bit of a face palm moment from your question.
You're not sounding rude. A lot of people on this forum wants to be spoon-fed, and that's not going to help them in the long run. They need a smack on the head and get taught how to search.
If you can find a way of unlocking the bootloader you could give it a try. Probably brick you phone yes.

You will brick your phone. Don't do it.
Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk
Just do it and let us know what you think about you new paperweight
What do you mean "just do it"?
How would you do that when the bootloader is locked?

I think he was trying to point out that it should go without saying that you shouldn't even think about flashing other firmware than the one designed for your actual model. It never ends well.
I think he just wants to root his phone, and thinks that somehow this process involves getting the single sim firmware.
To be able to root you first need to unlock the bootloader. Currently only allowed by LG on the unbranded US and EU versions. NOT possible on any other version, unless someone finds an unofficial way around it in the future.
I haven't tried it, but I doubt you will brick it, most likely it will just reject it, but I agree it's not a good idea to try it without knowing.
All those guys talking about spoon feeding people... if you know the answer to the question just answer it, if you don't know the answer shut up.
I reached this thread doing research and rather than finding information I find your rant.

Currently latest binary there isnt any unlock for but I am working on it some. It is one of the more difficult ones to do due to Sprints new security. Only one team so far (at least made public) has done unlocks for it. If you have older binary builds there are some unlocks available on clangsm forum. Might check there.
Well not so much of a challenge anymore I guess on this one. The Yemen fellows have managed to unlock this long ago and now it seems everyone has a solution for it heard so much for Sprint's latest RSA haha

I have this phone and see many different methods. Some say very difficult and easy to brick, others are just not clear (to an old man).
SM-J337P
Software Version: J337PVPU4BSJ2
If you hade one in your hand right now, do you have a favorite tutorial / method to obtain root?
What about a custom rom, you have a recommendation?
Thanks in advance to all with input, I value it

Hey there nice to meet you. Pretty much the 337 P can be rooted if you have cheated PRP for it that is about the easiest way to go about it. You can also get the boot image and go ahead and use it with magisk in a Flash the boot image back get it rooted and then use something like AAP ke flasher to flash TW RP but again you would need a custom as men are built in mine is not finish it. However you will run into some issues if you do the ladder as they will need to be signed images at least I have came to find out. And remember Ruth should be treated all up most respect otherwise you will have a phone that is vulnerable to just about everything in the world haha. Take care
