im a hobbyist photographer
i'm wondering, perhaps you(or someone) could do a well set up test of the camera of the note 2? i'm curious about the performance as mine is yet to arrive.(eta 1 week)
test setup example:
a full size(detail) daylight, shimmer, shimmer with flash, night and night with flash, macro and distant would be nice to see a comparison of, and if you have one, a reference card (i.e. contrast and color range) ISO range test (noise) and is the white balance with flash alright?
all this information would be nice to have available (perhaps post results to wiki)
Anyone else notice pictures and videos coming out dark?

I can't see any pictures in this thread. Please post some again so i can see what this device is capable of.

Performance
Could you also comment on the performance of the camera in terms of shutter lag and speed of camera app launched from lock screen?
Here's a HDR mode shot
And a lil standard pic
Thanks for these, although they are downsized quite a bit from the fullres originals they look very good with sharpness and few if any visible artifacts common to cellphonecameras. Except for the second image which has a blown out sky and a bit strong contrast on the chrome parts.
Keep the pics coming, i wanna see more!

A few more randoms from work i just snapped
Thanks for the photos guys, please post more...I can't wait to get stuck into my GN2!
Wow those are crisp and sharp! it seems to expose pretty well. This is exciting news!
I see some colornoise in some images, but it's not bad at all..

More images please... I'll be posting a few as soon as I have the phone.

In the sun
Looking good Twistedchild420, thanks.
Thanks guys^^^^^^
Here is a gem from earlier
seems like the Note II's cam firmware tend to overexpose and wash out the colours a bit by default.
unless u do some further tweaking in settings like what OP did, then u should be able to get good photos. I think a cam fw update is required to improve the image quality. I will judge again when there's more sample pictures (shot in default auto settings).
Not mine, but from Note 2.
Here you can find many Note 2 vs Galaxy S3 and some Note 2 photos.

taking better pics with the note 4.

I take ok pictures with the note 4. Im just wondering what everyone uses for a camera app, post processing or tecniques you use to get the great shots i see on here.
I use camera 360 and aviary for post processing. I see some really good night shots by people on here but i cant even come close to getting that with my phone...
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Please post some of your shots and tell us what you don't like about them.
Note 4's camera is a real fine piece of technology - except the usual lacks like no real manual mode, no "focus successful" indication.
So it must be the motif or your way of taking pictures. Just show us.

Macro photography option

Hi i remember we had a macro photography(closeup) option in note 3 camera to take photos (distance less than 5cm) , where is it in note 4 ? if no why sumsung missed such a great option to take closeup photos from flower and.....
I agree
i found that the minimum focus distance for note 4 is 15cm http://reasontouse.com/phone/galaxy-note-4-macro-performance-review/ it is too bad lg g3 in closeup photography is the best for the time being hope samsung solve this gap in next note.

hi,
i did a few quick makro tests after reading above. i have Note 4 N910F Snapdragon and i found that i can take clear macro shots at distance of between 5../7 cm..? (Trick is.. that you have to move camera bit higher and then bring it down.. once or twice for stock camera to focus properly) ( Plse note, i have taken macro shots with my Note 3.. and current Note 4 in past)
Further i have read somewhere? (in past, that camera configures /focus auto on close up/macro shots.?)
bottomline is..
i can take macro at distance of 5/7 cm.
Practice a bit, i sure you will get it right.
good luck
i uploaded small macro shot test (,distance ia about 5/7 cm) ..clear and" reasonable" acceptable( as macro shot ).? .....was in hurry , i am sure i can get it much better if i take my time !!

hi ,
i know my shot is not perfect !
(plse, read my post again)
i stated in my post# 4 above, quote ....
"i uploaded small macro shot test (,distance ia about 5/7 cm) ..clear and" reasonable" acceptable( as macro shot ).? .....was in hurry , i am sure i can get it much better if i take my time !!" unquote .............................
Point i was making
i was saying that it is possible to take a macro from 5/7 cm upwards and get accetpable results ( naturally you would get better shots, the further away you move camera !) ,and yes i also understand you are stating you can get a better results / macro with Note 3 .!
Otherwise , it seems to me you are looking for proffesional looking macro shots ?
Sorry ,then my advice is rather use a bridge camera or dLSR ? (This is what i do,)
afterwards i edit it in Lightroom software on pc .! The best option by far .
I have a Note 2, Note 3 and Note 4........ to take general fine looking acceptable shots if i am in a hurry or don't have my camera with me, otherwise ............
good luck and thanks for your input .

[Q] Any way to increase burst camera photo rate on CM based ROMs?

I've been doing a lot of testing comparing photos taken on Touchwiz and photos taken on CM and the end result is that basically , photos taken with Snap camera on CM12 seem to look just as good as those taken on samsung camera app on a touchwiz Rom.
However, every app I try for CM12 seems to have a slow burst rate ( around 1 per second) when in burst mode.
e.g.
+Snap camera on touchwiz seems to take burst photos at the same speed as samsung camera app. ( 5+ frames per second-ish!?)
+Snap camera on CM12 burst mode can only take photos at around 1 frame per second.
Is this something that can be tweaked in the CM rom, or is it a limitation of the camera driver available to CM?
Hmm noone knows anything? no reply here and no reply when I asked in CM dev threads either.

Sorry I'm wont be of any help but I too am looking for answer to this. Its the one last thing I need on a CM12 ROM. I'm trying to figure out if its an app or ROM issue. I suspect it comes down to the camera hal on CM12 that needs changing. I've been trying to search the net for answers but your post is as close as I have come to finding an answer. I am thinking of looking at CM12 source code to see if there are any answers there. Currently I have tried ported Oppo camera and ColorOS cameras for OnePlus One phones. They can take pics super fast and look to be the answer until I try burst mode and then its just sits a 1 photo taken and wont "burst" so to speak.
If you have found out any more info on the matter since your original posting please let me know and in return I will post what I find.
Here is what I have been trying so far. Better than anything I find in the Play store.

I didn't have any joy i'm afraid. I bored of asking and being ignored!
Previous versions of CM seemed to have faster burst which suggested to me it was a ROM issue but there seems to be zero information on it.

S5 Camera Vs S6 camera Video Comparison

Hey guys,
This is a real quick video comparison between the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6.
The settings used in this video were AUTO mode with Flash off and AUTO HDR turned on. Everything else was the same.
Enjoy.

I am frankly astounded by how alike these photos are. Viewing on the N7, and maybe the differences will be more obvious on the PC

I know what you mean, but i'd say in all instances, I'd give the edge to the s6. In a couple of photos the difference is huge though - the one of the leaves for example.
Watched it on my TV, and really could tell the differences. Not subtle at all in most of the shots! I've been watching as many of these as possible to justify jumping from the S5!
With good light, the differences are subtle to non-existent. I've been taking absolutely great pictures with my S5 all year long -- with good light. Start taking the light away and the difference between the two phones is substantial. If you look at my S5 album, probably 80% are taken outdoors. I'm sure that number will go down when I get the S6.
Videos? Fuggedaboutit. I only really take slowmo on my S5.
