Hello Guys,
I need a new phone, because my Umi Super died (long story short: it didn't like beer).
At first i thought the x722 would be a no brainer. Such nice specs for so little money.
But with the Umi Super i had other annoying problems like bad GPS and Camera etc.
Do you guys have similar experiences on the X722?
I am thinking of buying the X722 or the Xiaomi Mi A1. Great Hardware vs Great Software Support.
What would be your decision?

If I were you, I'd buy the Xiaomi Mi A1. The Mi A1 has way more support, official updates and custom ROMs. But it's around $200 USD. The Pro3 Elite (x722) can usually be had for around $150 USD, but will never get any updates from LeEco. So it depends on how much you want to spend. Also, the LeEco Pro3 Elite doesn't have a headphone jack or expandable storage like the Mi A1 does.
I would never use the x722 as my daily driver, that's for sure. I only use mine as a media consumption device and nothing else. ROMs for the device are in development, but there are no completely bug-free Oreo or Nougat ROMs for the device, as no official ROM past 6.0 exists for it. LeEco has yet to release kernel sources for this specific device, and I doubt they ever will.
All of that said, if you're looking for a sole Android gaming device, then the LeEco Pro3 Elite is the phone for you. Especially for people who play a ton of online gacha games like Love Live, FE:Heroes, FGO, etc. The only minus is that the stock ROMs don't pass SafetyNet so you may run into some issues. I know some games only check for root, like FGO, but IDK about others. I play Japanese FGO and I've yet to see any stuttering or frame drops. Battery life is excellent, with 4000mAh to spare. I get 5+ SoT easily on my debloated 20s Banggood ROM.
Definitely way better gaming than what you'd get with the Snapdragon 625 in the Mi A1, even on a crappy Marshmallow ROM. The camera will also be better on the x722 than the Mi A1, since it has an IMX298 and not some random Omnivision sensor. But do note that camera software > camera sensor in many cases. There's no decent software support for the x722's IMX camera on the stock ROM and you have to root for the modded Gcam apk.
Also note that you might end up with an Omnivision sensor on your x722, as it's been reported that LeEco used different sensors for the phone, while still passing it off as an IMX phone... sigh.
Le Pro 3 for sure. Bigger battery, better SoC and UFS 2.0 storage. In terms of software support, the X722 is getting attention and development has picked up recently. For those reasons I ordered the phone a few days ago, don't know about GPS performance. I was thinking of changing my secondary phone, and the Letv Pro3 LeEco Le Pro3 Dual AI got my attention, the phone looks nice with dual camera, 4GB RAM, Helio x27 processor, and affordable price of around $150, my only concern is the updates, the company has challanges now, bankrupted and looks like there will be no more support for the phone, should I go for the phone and forget any future updates ?

Don't go for AI edition, it's in all means worse than normal X720 or X722. Dual camera means nothing and does nothing, all those phones have 4GB of RAM, and you can't even compare Helio X27 to Snapdragon 8xx. I'm 100% sure that you won't ever get any updates. It won't definitelly go from LeEco, and it won't go from the users either. If you'll go with X722, you can get it for 133 euros on Banggood right now, and there's already a fully functioning Android 8.1. AICP made by users. It's a no brainer for me really.

If you're buying a phone in this price category, you don't have that many choices. In the end it'll probably end with Xiaomi vs LeEco. If you want a large battery, go for Redmi Note 4X (with 4GB of RAM), but you have to like MIUI, and I don't. The most recommended phone is Mi A1, because it has that original Android and you just put it out of the box and have a complete phone. If you don't mind playing around with the phone and also have some experience, the Le Pro 3 is the best option out there, bang for the buck is great, and now with community ROMs the ratio is even higher.

I already have MI MIX as a primary device, so for sure no need for another MI, will definitely look at the Le Pro 3

I have both Lex722 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (same as Mi A1). If you want battery life go for Mi A1 or Redmi Note4. If you want more performance go for LeEco but everyday use is almost the same. LeEco with custom rom 7.0/8.0 you can also tweak for more battery. Can't go wrong for both of them. Xiaomi make pretty good phone/excellent battery life with stock rom it's fats and fluid Sd625.

RN4 has a 4100mah battery while A1 has a 3080mah battery. So, they are not the same in terms of battery life!

Buy the Le Pro 3 from Amazon. It was $178 the last time I checked. There are many great custom ROMs for this device and the specs are stellar.

I am looking to buy a new phone and right now I am split between the Redmi 3 pro and Redmi 3S pro. I love the way they look on paper. The battery, the lack of a 1080p screen is a pro (I find 1080p screens on <6" phones useless, 900p should be the norm here), the size, the price, the RAM.
The only difference I know is in the SoC. The one in 3S looks more future-proof (Adreno 505), but it's useless to be future proof if no one is taking advantage of that.
I know I should give it time, but the only people talking about the 3S are "thanks" commenters on the miui forums. Google searching that phones yields results for the Redmi 3. It has no global ROM. There are 3 threads about it on XDA, none having a reply.
Which one should I go for?
man what are you talking about.720p is more than enought for redmi 3.why do you want to waste battery and performance for just a 1080 p screen which is useless in real life.redmi 3 has very good screen.ya 3s is futureproof and redmi 3 does not has global rom bt i am happy with chinese stable cause its more stable than global rom + it gets update faster.and its not too hard to install plastore ya know.
Sorry, all that's mentioned there were pro's. I personally HATE that they need to put 1080p screens on everything, 440 dpi is overkill...
What about MIUI killing apps in the background? I read about that a lot.

Anything you get will be great. All the phones you are considering are just as good. So if you can find one of the phones at a better price, get it. You won't be disappointed. However I find that development is lacking on the Redmi 3. While there are a lot of ROMs, they have their bugs. This is a pretty new phone so it will get updates on MIUI. As long as you like the skin, you will be good.
I personally can't stand MIUI so I'm glad I got the Mi4c. You should consider it too. It's got a 1080p display and a better processor (SD 808) but only 3000mah battery (which still gets me 6 hours SOT) and no SD card.
My vote would be for the 3S and hope it gets some dev support.

Mi4c was my first option before some local retailer advertised Redmi 3S and I found about them. Still, Redmi 3S it's like 70% of the price of the Mi4c here and that battery.... That battery. I dislike miui too, but global ROM is coming.
Snapdragon 430 supports quick charge 3.0 so I assume it is supported by the 3S model. This is a good reason for choosing 3S
These are the two phones I want right now. All I want from a Chinese phone is that everything works. So QC is important to me. Gps, signal, WiFi, materials etc. Which should be better? I'm guessing the xiaomi?
It seems like as far as working well at least if you are in the US the Pro3 is going to work better as it has all of the proper bands.

Depends on what you are looking for. I am going with the Le Pro3 because, it is the only flagship spec device with 4000mah battery and has necessary bands to operate in the USA. Not to mention, a local purchase also gives me easier product warranty.
Now, I absolutely hate that it doesn't have the audio port. I shall have to see if I can live without that.
Mi5s reportedly has a better camera, but I am not so sure. You also gotta think about the size. 5.5" vs 5.1"

What are your priorities? Do you plan on using things like Android Pay, Netflix, Pokemon GO, banking apps, etc., therefore do you need a ROM that passes SafetyNet? It's much easier to get a SafetyNet-passing ROM on a Xiaomi phone than an LeEco phone.
If you do decide to go with LeEco, try to get the x720 or the x727 version. x727 is the U.S. model with the U.S. stock ROM (which passes SafetyNet). It's the ideal model. The Pro 3 x720/x722 have custom ROMs, including LineageOS. The x722 doesn't. The x722 version has no custom ROMs. Don't buy it if you plan on using custom ROMs.
I would still recommend the Mi5s Plus over any LeEco phone today. More support, more ROMs. Even if you end up with a fake/shop ROM you can easily replace it with a stable MIUI version using EDL mode and MiFlash. You also have an active online community at miui.com. LeEco? Nope.
Better safe than sorry: Xiaomi phones
Cost effective (but easier to brick): LeEco

Mi Note 2 :good: As long as it's within your budget.
The one thing I'd be concerned about with the Mi Note 2 would be the AMOLED screen. You might experience burn-in after a year. Even people with S8s have started experiencing burn-in now... still no solution to this. I'd stick to the Mi5s Plus but it's up to you.
Where's the source for these burn-ins?? it is not Samsung's AMOLED that Xiaomi uses, it is LG's. And this phone is been around for a year now and I haven't heard of them exploding or faulty ones. There's only one case here in Brasil that the phone Explodes but the guy changed the back panel following a tutorial (por guy / not Xiaomi's fault).. I would risk it with Note 2 just because the camera is slightly better than Mi5s Plus.. Bit I wouldn't risk it with Le Pro 3 because they have cheap quality control and I'm not OK with those huge black bezels.. Mi5s Plus has a perfect FLAT screen but I'm worried about its câmera

The Mi Max 3 specs state it will come with Android 8.1.
If this is true it will be factory "treble-enabled" and custom roms will show up a lot faster.
this is china model, right? any issue using it oustide china (apart from frequencies).

Mi Max 2 is still new. It's specs are still wonderful.
MM2 custom ROM scene has just matured.
I see no reason to upgrade just yet.
Never understood the urge to upgrade as soon as something new is released, especially when the current one working well.
I have had a mi max 1 and a mi max 2. Just ordered a mi 8, want to try a high spec phone for a change
No need to upgrade now even if max 3 is better than max 2 in many ways
1) 5g enabled chipsets will be available next year, around mid 2019 so it will be a waste to buy a phone now that will become old in just 6-10 months
2)its a personal preference but i hate the new aspect ratio designs the old 16:9 is the best as content available now is mostly by default in this ratio
3) Snapdragon 625 is more than adequate for any task / 636 is a very good upgrade but i want more power efficiency than performance. ie i want it to give more battery life than get performance
4) would love if the max series drops the LCD screen and opt for an AMOLED, more battery man?
5) as we are talking about replacing the display also remove the abomination called hybrid sim tray **** hybrid i want 2 sim and a card like the good old days of cell phones not this *****y pile of ****

agree with all of the above haha although i doubt that 5g networks will be operational anytime soon, especially not in a manner that has sufficient coverage (i.e. outside of capital / major cities).

Agreed, given that:
1/ Xiaomi has promised to deliver MIUI 10 for total 28 devices (some released back in 2015)
2/ Mi max equipped with Snapdragon 625, which also built in a plentiful of Xiaomi devices in 2017 and also 2018 (Redmi note 4, mi max 2, Redmi note 4X, Redmi 5 plus, Redmi 6 pro (Mi A2 lite), Mi5X (Mi A1), Redmi Y2, redmi 4 prime etc..)
I'm strongly believe that Xiaomi has a very good way of optimizing the Snapdragon 625 and the Max 2 will have the support for years to come.
For the new Mi Max 3, Xiaomi screwed up with the anti-rollback issue and disabling the flashing of Global rom on a Chinese rom phone and vice versa. It can brick if someone does it. There is a workaround posted in the guide section of Max 3 by omer919, but you can't use normal OTA updates anymore. Not sure how long this method will be supported, since it's not a custom-ROM based solution.
Global market (Mi Max 3) phones do NOT come with 6GB/128GB configuration. (At least so far that I know of.)
Big screen, very generous battery and infra-red are the only reason I like the Mi Max series, but the latest Xiaomi policy to prevent using exchanged ROM in the Max 3 puts me off.
So, after all these, are people STILL interested in getting the Max 3?

well this sux big time. did some research into this and its understandable why xiaomi is doing it, but also veeery annoying for enthusiast users... one more reason to love the hardware but refrain from flashing MIUI. just update the firmware and run custom AOSP based ROMs aside from that the MM3 is basically the only phone id consider buying, aside maybe from the poco f1...

just received my new mi max 3 (64/4 GB chinese version with latest china developer rom) and im thinking of keeping my lovely max 2 guys
build quality is a step back in many way:
feels noticeably heavier and thicker in hand than max 2
power and volume buttons are a little hard to press
screen is bright more than u need+washed out colors = max 2 screen quality is way better for me
its notification LED is a joke! so smaller and poor light and still white color only!not visible and usable at all in days
full screen gestures always has annoying stutter even with more powerful chipset
battery life is a bit shorter than max 2 (overall one hour less SOT for my daily use)
no scratch resistent screen = scratched mine in just one day!
the only thing is about cameras and new chipset .really a huge upgrade in picture quality+video recording with EIS + selfie camera with LED light
Considering I can sell my RN5PRO to atleast 120€, should I go for RN7?

Honestly I have to give my RN5pro away to a family member (since her phone is broken). It's not such a noticable upgrade, sure the bezels are thinner and the camera is better (especially in low light).
Hard decision to make but if you are a camera enthusiast (and you don't want to spend 500€ on a phone like I do) then just go for it! Otherwise (in case you are an average user) I really wouldn't since RN5pro is still amazing and offers a lot of modding support.

Despite mixed opinions, I still think that if you can control your budget, get the RN7. But take your workload to context, f.i gaming - get the RN7,bit's a great deal, normal task and want to have custom ROM - keep it since supporr for RN7 is limited 'till now, rather than waiting, save up some more for the Mi 8 or others :fingers-crossed:
Doesnt make sense, As SDM660 is nothing but an overclocked CPU / GPU of SDM636.
with this upgrade you will just get a more modern phone and nothing more.
I like technology and smartphones and so the other day I bought the Redmi Note 7 for 161 euros, even though I already had the Redmi Note 5 Pro Whyred.
The Redmi Note 5 is a great phone and with the Pixel Experience it guarantees an excellent user experience, but I never really thought of using it as a daily driver, basically because it has a really poor camera compared to other phones.
Instead, I find the room of the Redmi Note 7 really good and so I'm really excited about this phone and for me it was worth the upgrade!
Redmi Note 5 pro has 636 whereas Note 7 has 660, It's not a major upgrade from redmi not 5 pro to note 7 But SD 660 has better performance and graphics for gaming.

No, stick with Redmi. Too many risks involved with this one in particular. It wasn't released outside of China. The x720 and x722 are total bang-for-your-buck devices though. If you can get them for like $120 USD or something, then go for it

I completely agree with @sk8223
Absolutely the Le pro3's with the Snapdragon 821 or 820 processors are a fantastic phone without a doubt. The problem is that some of those bargains at $120 and actually refurbished units and I have heard stories about the quality not being as good as the original.
Meanwhile the Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 675 and an excellent camera, modern bezels and if you buy the global version the software is excellent.
Yes, there are many great Roms for the Le Pro 3. However, the Le pro 3 will always be stuck with using an old kernel 3.18, and unfortunately updating kernel any further is a monumental task that is simply not going to happen. So in my opinion, I also feel that you are much better off with a New Redmi Note 7 pro
Biggest issue with the LePro3 is the usb port burning out and the battery wearing out. Both are replaceable but it's an involved process that requires a heat gun to remove the screen.
The parts are cheap though. I got the usb board for $5, a replacement battery for $20 and replacement screen for about $17. These are cheaper than iPhone parts!
Other than that, 4 GB of Ram and Snapdragon 821 cpu is great.
Have any Le Pro 3 owners switched to a Note 7? My Le Pro 3 Elite is working fine but I have been thinking that the Redmi might be a worthy upgrade.
I've owned the Pro 3 x727 since release. The USB port and battery are fine, it can still hit 8+ hours of SOT. Would I suggest the Pro 3 to someone in 2019? No. It's easy to find nicer phones at a similar price. For example, the 3a was going for ~150 after trade in.
Some newer phones have better thermals- which allows them to maintain their peaks longer. If you play games this is obvious. Let's say you're playing PUBG @60fps and recording, the Pro 3 will heat up and throttle. That 60 will soon turn into a stuttery mess.
Then you have to consider sensors. Pro 3 lacks a wide angle and telephoto lens. Thus, limiting the type of images a user can capture. In addition, 64GB doesn't provide much room, at least not for me.
The Note 7 has an SD slot, modern design, and a taller display. Seems like a no-brainer.
One thing I would keep note of it whether the redmi has the band's you need for lte. I know it depends on the cell provider and carrier. But a lot of these international version phones tend not to have the same extended bands needed for indoor coverage in the US
