Any responses?

Take a look at this (#1-#3) if you're using G950F/FD/N/X:

did you find anything

There are no firmwares that are not rootable as of now. You can't root a snapdragon and run Oreo, but even if you are it is still possible to downfrade to nougat and root

I am on QL1 and can't get root...
I am running through the method in the S8 Root (Snapdragon) | SamPWND thread using the firmware posted. I am going to post in that thread for more details and will see what is said.

935v

Hey all, I'm new to the s7 edge forums and trying to find which rom to flash. My phone says I have the 935v model...but I can't seem to find any roms that support it. I have the US Verizon retail model. Am I reading it wrong? I see roms for 935f and other variations. How should I be reading the model number so that I flash the right rom (and twrp). Thanks again!

Download ROM from the Verison forum. Snapdragon ones have locked bootloaders, which means no twrp. You also can't use the roms posted for exynos. You would have to root using eng-boot, and then use Flashfire to flash rom that is designed for 935v.
Follow guide here first to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/how-to/how-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Install Flashfire
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.flash
Download Rom of your choice, save zip to external sd, then go to flashfire and flash the zip.

Where would one look for g935u roms that can be flashed with flashfire? Everything I find about the u is flashing the u firmware on other variants to achieve root. Sorry I've spent hours looking for something and either I'm dumb or there isn't anything. :head bang:

Is this legit? (A guide to rooting SM-900V using a "pre-rooted" 6.0.1 firmware)
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...0v-verizon-on-marshmallow-6-0-1-firmware.html
The above link describes steps to load a "pre-rooted" version of Marshmallow firmware onto a Verizon S5. It seems to be a little too simple and I'm not sure I trust that site. Is that a legitimate way to root a Verizon S5 on 6.0.1?
Seriously, no one knows?

To update or not to update?

Hello, i recently purchased another International Variant S7 Edge(F) and I'm curious should i update to nougat out the box or keep on Marshmallow before rooting? I read a few posts and i see some had success with nougat rooting and other's say they didnt have success...i rooted my prior s7 edge on marshmallow with ease before i sold it..Thanks for any advice
Your can root 935F easily on Nougat. But if you are using Xposed you have to stay in MM, it's not yet available in Nougat.

Help - With my Samsung S7

I was given a paid off, carrier unlocked sprint samsung galaxy s7 model G930P that is running 8.0 oreo. I use verzion so i tried muti verzion firmware found on xda and flashed thru odin with no luck. I came across the official samsung s7 G930U v8.0 oreo firmware and that flashed perfectly. I would like to root this phone but every tutorial/video fails to flash using odin. If I soft brick the phone I re-flash the Official Samsung S7 G930U oreo 8.0 firmware and try something else.
I guess i'm getting confused with all the info i'm reading here at the forums and asking for help to see what are my possible options? In short this was a sprint phone that was unlocked and now running official samsung firmware. Is there a working way to root this firmware or Is there a way to flash the verzion firmware and root that? At this point i'm only looking to have a firmware with root access with stock rom at lease.
Thanks in advance!
Current phone Info:
Model: SM-G930U
Baseband version: G930UUEU8CRJ2
Build #: R16NW.G930UUEU8CRJ2
OS: Oreo v8.0
Android security patch lvl: 10/1/18
Correct me if i'm wrong but from what i'm reading/learning from this forum is the 5th digit determines which bootloader i'm on?
so if my baseband ver. is G930UUE8CRJ2. That means i'm on bootloader 8 right?
And if what i'm learning is correct..... bootloader 8 is unrootable?
Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this dark day.

Yes, 8 cannot be rooted. What are you trying to do that requires root? There may be a workaround

Nothing major. I was hoping it was possible because some of the apps i'm so used to need root (ex: titanium backup & root explorer). I guess I'm so used to using a rooted phone that it feels weird without it. But I know that is just the tech in me......wanting to tweak something that doesn't really need to be tweaked lol

Ok, because there are workarounds for things like ad blocker; Youtube ad block; disabling apps; and hotspot. Yeah, build.prop/xml edits are off the table.
