Hello,
I am using a standard Galaxy S8 Dual SIM device, with no custom ROM etc.
Yesterday, whilst flying I noticed he battery to be draining quickly. Today, it "dropped" from 60% to 2% within minutes, I then restarted the device and it went back to 40%. In the last ten minutes it has dropped to 33%.
Obviously this isn't normal; does anyone have any ideas on the issue?
May b you should go to service center nd check with them

I have Samsung galaxy 3 & use Samsung issued stock froyo rom. Since past few days, I am facing strange problem.
After charging battery to 100%, whenever I make 2-3 calls or one long call, Battery discharges fast & warning of low battery comes out. Sometimes phone shuts down even during call.
When I restart phone, Battery icon shows full or upto 90% charge. Then problem recurs. With no phone calls, phone runs upto 4-6 hrs.
I have calibrated battery again & again. I have given phone to service centre twice & they have reformatted it every time with same results.
Now, I have been told that motherboard needs to be replaced & will cost 4500.
I want to know that this problem is really caused by faulty motherboard or faulty battery?
Change the battery and see if it helps
Cheers

Dear XDA,
Since a few weeks I began experiencing problems with the battery of my Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F).
It all started with the phone lasting a lot shorter per day and suddenly shutting off at around 5-8% battery left.
Today it was the worst I've ever experienced. I make a short list of what happened.
Charged to 100% overnight and taken charger out at 7:30
Went to the gym, 98% left after 1 hour idle
Bumped an extra 4% when transferring files from PC at 15:10 (from around 78 to 82%)
Watched 10 minutes of Under the Dome and did some Whatsapp
Read an article on the internet
Phone was suddenly at 28% at 19:00, shut it down for a bit
Powered on at 19:25 with only 18% left
Phone died at 19:30 with 14% left. 2h and 40 min Screen On Time. 12 hour standby.
Still able to boot but can't get past coloured Samsung logo
LED Notification stays blue and can keep booting for about 30 more times.
So basically my phone died after 2h and 40 min Screen On Time with still some charge left.
This is the worst I've had so far.
The weirdest part is that the Notification LED stays on after trying to boot it once. The only way to remove this is by taking out the battery.
When the phone was new I was able to at least get 4-5 hours Screen On Time depending on brightness.
Things I tried to solve it:
Full charge cycle and emptying it
Factory reset
Checking for unusual activity (wakelocks)
I've checked for any wakelocks but I think this might be a defect instead.
Can anyone please help me? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance anyway!
Kind regards,
Daniel Collignon
Anyone?!
If you use latest version of tapatalk that's the problem
Try 4.9.5 - you can find @ apkmirror site...

I don't even use Tapatalk...
Try a new battery, it can become 'weak' after a while.

Don't worry ! I have gone through this too . A log or a screenshot of BBS , System battery graph would help us . Please share it
well my phone is n910H. it lasts less than a day and it dies when it reach 30% and when i connect the charger it gives me 0%. does this means the battery is faulty or is it a software issue ?
Me too!
I have the exact problem stated in the op. I am pretty sure it must be a callibration issue because I've tried too many times the *#0228#. I've tried taking out the battery and putting it after some minutes. I've tried off-charging, on with screen off charging, on charging, fast charging, slow charging, everything and I have at most 4 hours of use, with 1 or 2SOT.
Sometimes I charge it and it stops at 70 or 75%. Today, it stopped at %50 (off-charged) and I removed the battery, waited 5 minutes, put it back on and it showed 100% (still off). Battery lasted less than 1 hour (okay, I was playing candy crush and clash of clans ).
I use my phone without the power saving mode for a snappier performance, but it's impossible that the battery lasts so little time.
Could you solve it? or just bought a new one?
Battery drain
I have same issue on my Note 4 for a last few months. And it's just getting worse.
Today it dropped from 48% to 5% and turned off.
I even took it to Samsung service and they told me that everything is OK with phone and that I have to change charging equpment.
I did that and it didn't help. It's happening again.
Help please?
I've owned my Note 4 since October 2014 and it's been working solidly since. Last Thursday, out of nowhere, I noticed that from a 14% charge, it suddenly dropped to 4%. I immediately scrambled for a charger and charged it back up to 100%. On Friday, I charged my battery normally again. Charging finished at 11 AM but the drain was abnormally high. My phone was warm to the touch and battery was dead in 4 hours. I was using the phone normally throughout that time, 4g on, location services/bt off, screen off for the most part. I ran OS monitor to see whether any app was locking up the CPU, but, as expected, the main CPU users were Android System and Android OS.
On Saturday, I charged the phone to full again, disconnected around 4 pm. Being that I was home, both wifi and 4g were off. Battery discharged normally, and was only down to 30% on Monday morning.
On Monday, I noticed that battery dropped from 21% straight to 11% straight to 4% in a few seconds. The drain from 4 to 3 to 2% was decent (few minutes of screen on time, on viber), then the phone shut off. I tried to charge the battery with the device powered off, but noticed that the phone simply stopped charging at 80%. I thought that was an abnormality. I tried wiping the system and app caches, but the problem persisted and drain still felt pretty fast. Tuesday night, the phone stopped charging at 91%, staying at the same level for 40 minutes before I gave up and unplugged.
My friend had purchased a fake OEM Note 4 battery and allowed me to try the drain/charge process using his battery to troubleshoot. When I first plugged his battery into my phone, the drain was high at about 1 percent per minute. When I tried to charge the battery, the charge level would not go beyond 90%. I switched on safe mode, but the battery did not charge any further either. I felt by then that something was definitely wrong with my phone. When I restarted the phone to get out of safe mode, though, it suddenly started charging again and hit 100%. With regular use, the fake battery gave me 16 hours of power, which I thought was relatively decent. Alas, when I started charging it again, it stopped charging at 77%. Battery Monitor Widget showed 0 mA flowing into the phone at the time, though the battery indicator in the status bar showed the lightning bolt.
I took out the fake battery and put in my original. It is now charging up normally, but I expect charging to stop before I hit 100%.
If anyone could provide possible explanations for what could be going on and/or other troubleshooting tips to try, I would really appreciate it. A factory reset would be my last recourse.
Thank you very much!
EDIT: My battery went all the way up to 100% this time. But it's the same one that got stuck (at 80% then at 91%) twice in the past.
I'm using two different Samsung chargers and different cords, by the way, and blew out the port with air prior to attempting to charge the fake battery that still stopped at 77%.
I had the same issue, took it to Samsung and they replaced the battery, it has been okay since that

Really? I was ready to write off my battery and just buy a replacement, but what was weird was that even the newish fake battery wouldn't charge fully. That's what made me worried that it's my phone that's the problem.
It'd be great if this could be as simple as a battery problem.
So a few times now my note 4 has crashed (black screen) and turned off. When I turn back on the battery level has massively dropped (30-40% gone) yesterday went from about 40% to 0%. The 40% seemed accurate as using it not too much and usually about that percent at that time of day. Also noticed a few other things, when I connect my note to the pc it takes a while to start and stop charging and isn't being recognised by the pc (or the note isn't detecting it is connected to a pc - only charges)
Any ideas?
Try a different battery?
Are you rooted or custom rom?
Hi, not rooted and stock rom. Had an update yesterday which mentions better battery performance. maybe they fixed something. I'll give it a week. Have also contacted samsung. Not sure if battery is included in the 24 month warranty
I'm running stock 6.01 deodexed and rooted, It's happened to me a couple of time. Either its a samsung bug or the battery is just recalibrating itself. Probably the recalibration
That's good to know but worrying. Its really bad if it happens when I'm out. I think I have a good 10 hours of battery and then bam nothing. If I get anywhere with Samsung I'll post back
I have a rooted Galaxy S5 with crdroid installed (Oreo 8.1). This morning, when I was trying to log in to facebook messenger, my phone battery went from 15% to 0% in a matter of like 30 seconds. It was kind of strange though. Instead of going black, it went to the boot screen. I plugged my phone in, and when it came back on, I was at 1% and had no service. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, but it still did not have any service. I restarted it multiple times, and then reinstalled crdroid with TWRP, and I still get no service. Could this be a hardware related issue caused by letting my battery die? I have also removed and reinserted the sim.

It kind of sounds like it. Has your phone been getting hot lately? I burned out my modem in the past from over heating. How long have you had that battery?
