Problems with apps - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

I have a P10 pro (BLA-L29) on EMUI 8.0.0 and android 8.0.0
I have a few issues with it. There is a long delay loading email message body in both Yahoo and touchdown email apps . Similarly amazon app does not load details of individual items ( I can search, but when I click on a result it goes blank). There are times when these work perfectly fine (but that seems to be rare). Feels like they are trying to connect to internet every time I open it.
It could be something simple?
Any suggestions?
thanks

Need Help! Newly Purchased HD2 Hangs Laggy and very slow

Hey guys,
I have been looking everywhere for a solution to my issues with my new HD2 but cannot seem to find something similar to my situation.
I bought this HD2 off ebay and it was brand new. It is the European version (Unbranded = not T-mobile) and unlocked to any carrier (although i can only use Edge for AT&T, it seems fine and am satisfied).
Issues:
after setting up everything (i.e. email, contacts, facebook, youtube etc..) it seems fine until i do a restart or reboot the device.
After the boot up, the phone will now start to slow down and started to get very laggy. Which is very annoying, because it feels like your running a windows vista in a Pentium 2 computer. I have also recognized that the my battery drains much faster (i.e. I left my house today at 100% full charged @ 8:30A.M and now it is 9:40A.M and it is already 81% and it was just sitting in sleep mode).
I am not sure if any of the guys here is experiencing the same issues or had experienced this and found a solution.
I have also, tried performing a soft reset but did not help.
I did a Hard reset twice already yesterday morning and seems to fix the problem and so, i started setting it up again (i.e. Facebook, mail, contacts, wifi etc..) and tried rebooting it a few times without any problems and I thought everything was fine now that I was thinking that it maybe just a bad setup at first, UNTIL last night when i charge the phone overnight and woke up this morning to find out that the big slowdown and lag is back.
I will appreciate any input from you guys.
by the way this is what i see when i boot up the phone.
R 2.05 51 05_2
G 15.28.50.07
D 1.48. 71294
Thanks
I had a similar experience once, go into task manager and view all process's, check the cpu usage of manila, mine was running at 90% and causing the experience you are seeing .. If this is the cause try backing out or the changes you made prior to this happening if you remember what they were .
To be honest this solution did not work for me and i ended up just flashing a new rom again .. All been well since .
EDIT : - Since you did a hard reset you have effectivly flashed a new rom, albeit the same version .. Add one app change at a time and monitor to see what causes the cpu to max out
Have you checked your free memory? Have you moved the cache files for HTC albumn, Opera, and google maps? If not search the forum to find out how.
Thanks for your comments guys.
I have actually went to my task manager and found that manila is running 90-95% the whole time and have no idea what really is going on.
I have also tried setting up my device and reboot each time. (i.e. setup facebook -> reboot ->set up yahoo mail --> reboot --> setup etc.. --> reboot.
and did not have any problems until i went to bed last night and charge the phone as usual but when i woke up this morning, i found out that the lag and slowdown is back.
i have recognize something though, that my yahoo mail (under email) has about 3,xxx emails inside the inbox and i checked the settings but it said download only messages for the past 3 days (which ofcourse i do not have over 3,000 emails in just 3 days).
I am not sure if is my email who's giving the problem, i understand that manila transfers emails to the HTC sense UI. (so maybe this is the problem?)
i just finished deleting my email account under this HD2 and will let you know if it improves.
Deleted my Yahoo account in my HD2 and did a reboot and it is now back to normal.
It is now Fast and very responsive.
I guess syncing all 3,000 plus emails to the HTC sense UI is the root of the problem.
Now, how will i have my yahoo mail here and have all the past 3 days setting available? without downloading my whole email in yahoo server.? i have checked my settings earlier and it said "download only messages for the past 3 days". But it looks like it downloaded everything in my email while im asleep.
This is so weird

My hotmail account defaults to 50 emails in the inbox on my HD2, if I get a new email it deletes the oldest, two emails = deletes oldest two which is a good system for on the go email.
I guess if you dig deep into the email settings you could possibly configure it, or search around if no other yahoo mail users give you a comment, will give you the answer!

Rss and Apps cannot sync

Hi,
I have a strange problem on recently acquired Samsung S6 Edge (SM-G925FQ), Android 5.1.1
I really need to set refresh interval in email/rss reader apps to 1 minute, but anything I set below 5 minutes does not work (it's still 5 minutes in reality). This is not an applicaton problem, as the same apps are working properly on my other android phone, and multiple apps are affected (Aqua Mail and several RSS readers (Sparse RSS, Flym, ...)).
Looks like this is a system-wide problem - apps are not allowed to schedule refresh events with interval less than 5 mins. Its either an issue with my settings (I went through them 10 times!) or with the system.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that could help me solve the issue...
Thanks

Android MS Outlook notifications stopped showing up on Wear.

I've been using Outlook on my Galaxy S5 for a while now and was getting email notification on my watch (Moto 360 2nd gen) without difficult. Then I just stopped getting email notifications. I appear to still be getting calendar notifications, but not email.
I did two things around the time when the notifications stopped:
1.) Installed an app on my phone create extra vibrations on the watch when notifications were received (Feel the Wear).
2.) Setup the default sammy calendar to sync with my work's Exchange calendar so I could get calendar info in WatchMaker.
To trouble shoot I've tried:
a.) Uninstalling the app listed above and removing the calendar sync setup.
b.) Uninstalling and re-installing MS Outlook
c.) Verifying that Outlook is not listed as a block/ignore app in Android Wear
d.) Forgetting and reconnecting my watch
e.) Verified that I'm getting outlook notifications properly on my phone.
f.) Searching google and xda... couldn't find anything, but I'll admit I didn't do a super huge search here in xda.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm working around this right now by using eNotify, but I hate to use additional programs to do something that I should be able to do without them.
I have the same issue. About 2 days ago Outlook stopped sending notifications to my watch (LG Watch Urbane). I still get them on my phone, but they do not get sent to the watch.
I do not have Feel the Wear and I have not made any recent changes to how my phone syncs anything. I have also tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything and confirming that Outlook is not on the notification block list. I updated the Outlook app from the Play Store today, but still no joy.

I've tried even doing a factory reset on the watch, and this has only led to bigger problems. Now ALL notifications are being super temperamental for me.
Same problem here. I'm glad to see someone else is experiencing it. I've found nothing helpful on google about it.
This link here:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-wear/KV62Rs3fZHs;context-place=topicsearchin/android-wear/notifications$20stopped
is saying that it's a Microsoft issue. Can't verify that info, but it does seem consistent with the fact that we all seem to have noticed it stopped right around the same time and it's only MS Outlook that did it.
Same thing here on my Huawei Watch. My workaround was to restart notifications from the stock email app, so at least I won't miss anything. If it's fixed and I start getting double notifications I'll turn them off on the stock app again.
Pull down previous version from apk mirror and give it a shot.

Reviving a bit of an old thread here, but I finally got around to trying out this suggestion and it works. I pulled version: 2.0.17 (106) and installed it. I'm getting notifications on my watch again.
Current version is 2.0.36, which was just released yesterday it seems. I tested all versions on APKMirror between 2.0.17 and the newest and 2.0.17 seems to be the last version that will send notifications to Android Wear.
Where I can get the 2.0.17 version?
Thanks

APKmirror: http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=outlook&post_type=app_release
Make sure, if you do this, that you disable automatic updates in Google Play Store app. Otherwise it'll just try to overwrite outlook with the newer version automatically.

has everyone having this problem submitted a bug through the app? It wont get fixed if we don't report it.

I believe I did submit a report, but I'll do it again just to make sure.
On a side note, after trying a BUNCH of different programs, here's what I finally settled on:
I'm using the newest version of MS Outlet. This obviously doesn't get notifications to my watch, so I'm running AquaMail and using the imap interface to get push updates from my Exchange Server. AquaMail did the best job in terms of speed and notification type, at least for me.
Others I tried:
Cloud Magic: Speed is decent, but I only saw the first notification on my watch. Subsequent notifications never went to watch until notifications on phone were cleared.
BlueMail: This was horrible slow for me. Even 5+ minutes after Outlook or Cloudmagic would see the email Bluemail still hasn't received the message. Not sure on notifications on watch.
Mailwise: Very fast on receiving new email, and the notification showed on the watch for each notification, but after the first one you just get a list of outstanding notifications for Mailwise so you don't get to see the full subject, title or body of the newest notification. Outlook in version 2.0.17 (the last one that sent notifications to the watch) did the same thing.
After pulling 2.0.17 my watch is receiving notifications again. I have also reached out to support with this info. I am running Marshmellow and everything seems to be working fine. Hopefully, they will fix this on their latest release. For now, all Outlook updates are off.
Thanks again!
Thanks for this I thought I was going crazy as I think I just started using Outlook right before that update came and removed the watch notifications.
I noticed this too, I assumed that it was a change to the security policy... it'd be nice to have it work again
Just got this back from Outlook support :
Hello Andrew
Thank you for contacting Outlook Mobile Support. I understand your concern but we no longer support Android Wear. If you would like to address these issues then you will need to contact the retailer! I apologize for this inconvenience.
Warm Regards
The "retailer" you refer to is Google. They support the android wear app and the watches. The issue is that the outlook app is not sending notifications to the Android o/s in a normal manner. Every other app works just fine. Only the outlook app has this problem. The notifications did work until the app was upgraded beyond version 2.0.17. Something changed that broke the notifications at that point. I do hope you will continue to support your app and the android wear community!
Hello Andrew
That is when we stopped support the Android Wear devices. We will support Android Wear when Android Wear advises us to again. We enjoy helping! I apologize for this inconvenience again!
Warm Regards
So they know it's busted but won't fix it unless Google calls them??
That is horrible and typical M$.
It is not free, but touchdown has exchange activesync with push notifications. I am a teacher and it is a huge help with all the email I get.
Alternatively, you could downgrade outlook and not let it update.
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
Figures. I found it really useful to have work email and calendar notifications sent to my watch as I am not always at my desk. I reported the "bug" and got basically the same response as above. I guess the community will need to come up with another Microsoft work around. Does anyone know of a killer feature or bug that was fixed between 2.0.17 and current? Trying to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Google Mail app crashes all the time since latest update

Hello,
on my Fire HD8 2016, my Google Mail app keeps crashing all the time, does anybody know if this is related to the latest Fire OS or Gmail update? Any way to fix it?

The new Fire HD8 (2017) are also having this problem. I just noticed that Gmail on my 2016 Fire 7 has very recently stopped working too. Ggggrrrr.... It was working fine before.
(There is another thread about the 2017 Fire 8s that you might want to follow... No one has found a fix yet.)
Do you have a link to the other thread? I am very unhappy that I cannot root the Fire HD8 2016, because the device is getting slower and slower with every update, it is nearly unusable now

Just did a search for it and saw several brief mentions of the gmail Fire 8 7th generation problem mentioned, but no specific fix for it. (Sorry, I couldn't find the original mention) For what it's worth, gmail finally started working again on my Fire 8 (2017) but not yet on Fire 7 (2016) , Hoping that perhaps the gremlins are working on a fix in the background?
I have the same problem with my Kindle 8 HD (7th generation). The app is crashing as soon as it's accessing a folder or email containing a "+" sign in address.
Tried Google Inbox instead - works fine as long as not opening a mail sent to such an address (i.e. [email protected]). Opening such mail results in crashing instantly. All other mails can be opened without problems.
Because the originally installed email client always works, I'm not sure if it's a problem of Gmail or Fire OS or combination of both.
Post Preview:
I see the gmail crash issue on my 2016 HD8 6th gen when I look at a message with an attached file or embedded photo. Plain vanilla email (text) seems to work. If the suspect message is at the top of my inbox so that it opens automatically, then gmail crashes when I start it. I managed to delete the offending email in the split second before it crashed, then it stayed running until I stumbled into another "bad" message. My OS was just updated to 5.4.0.0 last week, it might be related to that update but I don't use it every day to be sure. Google inbox seems to have similar crashing issues for me.
Funnily mine crashes as soon as I open the app, so no possibility for me to even check mails at all.
I just got the Fire HD 8 (7th gen, 2017) and ran into this issue too. A logcat when launching Gmail (7.6.18.160170480) shows:

To my understanding the ACCESS_ALL_DOWNLOADS permission can only be granted to apps with the same signature as DownloadProvider. I don't know if this has anything to do with Amazon's customization of Android 5.1.1, but I wouldn't be surprised. I welcome someone more familiar with Android permissions to evaluate the log.

Thanks trovatrice,
I was going to say the same about the Fire HD 8 (7th generation - 2017) on Fire OS 5.3.3.0.
Happy to follow your link.

This problem is happening because Gmail tries to automatically download the attachments and the permissions in fireos prevent it. A workaround is to disconnect the WiFi, open Gmail (shouldn't crash without internet) and disable the automatic download of attachments in its settings. After this you should be able to use the app without crashes, if you need attachments just save them to Google Drive without downloading them directly.
@Segfaultd - Thanks for the tip. I think you're on to something. Disabling the internet connection does allow Gmail to run without crashing, and I can go into Settings and deselect the option to automatically download attachments. Unfortunately, once I re-enable the internet, Gmail goes back to crashing.
Any other ideas? This is really frustrating!
This happened to me. I fixed it on my Fire HD8 2017 simply by clearing the app from the recent apps menu (square in the bottom right) and then reloading it.

Same here, in Airplane Mode I can run Gmail, can disable automatic attachment download, also set Images to "Ask before showing". But once internet is re-enabled, also crash is back. An update seems at least to work, i.e., those emails which I deleted while no internet connection, are really deleted from the inbox.
Any solution would be very, very welcome. Otherwise loving my new Fire HD 8.

Thanks, unfortunately this didn't fix it for me, disabled automatic download of attachments, but as soon as I sync Gmail again, the app still closes. Any other settings that need to be altered?
Solved- Gmail disappears on Fire tablet
I just got my first Fire Tablet (HD8 Gen 7) from Amamzon Prime day and am new to Fire as well as Android. I've had iPhone and Windows PCs for years. I am an IT Tech as well. But I had the same problem with the Gmail app disappearing. After searching many posts with nothing fixing the problem, I decided to think out side the box a little. I had found posts about a similar problem, "Play store apps stop working after Alexa update". I figured my new HD8 was essentially in the same situation since it came with Alexa and I had installed the 4 recommeded apk files needed to hack it so I could access the Google Play Store.
So, I decided to try the (after Alexa update) fix which has you install 2 updates.
(Darn... Since I'm a new user here, it says I can't post a link. So search google for "how-to-fix-google-play-on-fire-tablets-after-update". Go to the first result and use the 2 links at bottom of the page.)
Install Google Account Manager 5.1-1743759.
Install Google Services Framework 5.1-1743759.
Restart tablet.
That's what I did. But the problem still existed. So I uninstalled the Gmail app and went back to Google Play Store and reinstalled the same Gmail app. And now it's working. Let me know if this works for you as well.

Thank you. That did help. Gmail now stays lit, and seems to be syncing new messages, but it's still not quite right. When I tried to send myself a test message, it crashed again (even after a reboot).
For me, disabling Sync under the Gmail account settings and automatic attachment downloads seems to have worked. I can send email and open emails with attachments. Be sure to restart the app too after making the change.
Only downside is they don't automatically download, but at least it doesn't crash for me.

Somewhat to be expected when the Fire tablets don't officially support GAPPS.
same issue here with a 8 HD and 5.4 ; turning off sync attachments and removing/reinstalling hasn't fixed it.

MI Note 2 won't notify me (Snapchat, Outlook in particular)

My MI Note 2 has since I bought it in march been behaving kinda strange. Sometimes it works as you'd excpect, but unfortunately most of the time it doesn't notify me when it should.
I'm coming from a Nexus 6P which gives me notifications in a matter of hundreds whenever I get a new mail, facebook-notification or snapchat. The Note 2 sometimes give me old facebook-notifications, sometimes snaps, and occationally email-notifications. I've noticed the last weeks that if I reboot my phone, it has a tendency to update me more often, i.e. notifying like 30% of the snapchats I get, but then it just get worse over time.
I've manually disabled MIUIs restriction on background activity for Snapchat, Outlook and Android Wear (which by the way also doesn't keep connected to my watch), but this doesn't seem to help. I've granted the apps access to everything they want, but this doesn't help either.
Any ideas what's wrong?
Running stock, original, stable MIUI 8.2.6.0 - newest update available OTA.
Hope you have suggestions/solutions!
It's particular to MIUI for notification (gor some problem with Snpachat or Aquamail)
You have to do this:
Go to Security app -> Battery Saver -> Choose the app (Snapchat or Outlook) and choose No Restriction.
Reboot and test normally it's good
You got this for helping you:

I did all those things but my work email application [MaaS 360 ] doesn't send notifications :'(.
Thanks -
