MIUI 9 Stable vs Dev Beta - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have seen that in the dev beta notifications have been adapted to be like the stock android ones (in functionality) and other improvements. I just bought the phone so I'm with the stable version now and I find it a little frustrating being my main concern the notifications.
Also I found when I set up my Google account for the first time, it didn't let me install the same apps I had on my other phone.
Is this last function on the developer beta version?
Is the developer beta much better than the stable one?
How much time does Xiaomi wait to make beta versions stable ones?
EDIT: Please devs move to questions and answers if you think this belongs there.
Thanks

[Q] MIUI Rom?

I see the 2 major ones are miui and cyanogenmod 7. I have cyanogenmod, but im not sure if i like it. Id like to try MIUI, but i see tons of different ones. Is there 1 official (latest) release for EVO? Thanks. Also, what is a good cyanogenmod NIghtly for evo? And whats different between those and the official release? Thanks.
Lots of new blood on tongiht, ok here we go:
Cyanogenmod has two basic release types: official and nightly.
Official releases are finished products, per say. Everything should work or at least mostly work (sometimes bugs make it in of course).
Nightly releases are just that: nightly. Those are snapshots of what the team is working on _right_now_. Because of that, NOTHING is guaranteed to work. Mind you, usually things do, but it's the bleeding edge line we walk if we want to play with the newest features first.
On the other side of the fence is MIUI. This project is closed source and run from China ... devs there do not post their code, rather post weekly updates fully compiled. From there some dedicated fans translate and port that ROM to us eager US users. There are two known teams who work on MIUI ports: www.miuiandroid.com and www.miui.us. They actually take a Nexus ROM and port it over to the EVO, then add the English translations. Because they are both pulling from the same closed source ... there is really very little if nothing different between them (I've even flashed one over the other).
In addition to the ROM, there will occasionally be "Language packs" released mid week to correct any missed translations (some apps/buttons still in Chinese, or the verbiage improved).
Biggest blemish to MIUI atm is 4G: it doesn't support it. As MIUI is released closed source the porting teams can't add the code .... and as WiMAX doesn't run in China the originating team can't be bothered to add it. If you dont mind not having 4g (maybe your city doesn't support it), everything else works and it's a fantastic ROM.
Both Roms have market apps that can help manage the whole flashing/updating process if it seems intimidating ("ROM Manager" and "MIUI ROM Downloader").
Also, i took awhile to setup a new homescreen on launcher pro, if i do a titanium backup ,will it backup all my widgets and whatnot? Im asking because im going to fresh to update my prl, whatever that is. What does that do? Thanks

Easy to understand the differences in ROMs?

Heya.
I have been going through all the available ROMs the last couple of weeks since I got my N7, keeping up to date with new releases trying to decide what will work best for me.
It seems to me that the vast majority of the ROMs are just lazy copy and paste jobs from other devices with features completely unrelated to our device and link to nightly build changelogs that are in developer jargon that I honestly cant be bothered going through. Since most are based on CM10 I tried finding an english version of their changes to compare the differences..no such luck.
Cookies & Cream Linaro is an example of how it should be done IMO.
Changelog:

If every single one of the ROMs had that simplicity for each release, the world would be a much better place.
Since this is the Q&A section and I have been rambling on, I will get to the question: Is there somewhere I can reference the difference in the 5+ CM10 based ROMs or should I just avoid their lazy asses like the plague and stick with Original Developers who work for our device?

Why are there no Android 8.0 Custom ROMs out yet?

If I remember correctly, Android Nougat Custom ROMs were out withing weeks of official release of it.
I'd like to know why there is delay for Android Oreo

There are some out. They are just in alpha testing mainly. Although there are some daily driver ready ones out. The delay is likely that I think not all the sources and device trees for updated to the AOSP project as quick and all in one go as nougat. I built a rom a couple of days ago and had some issues but after an AOSP update I was able to build an Oreo ROM fine with no issues.

I just posted this elsewhere lol when a new version of Android drops, custom roms take quite awhile to update.
If you follow specific dev teams, you'll notice they take their time to release after new Android updates. Others, have fewer features or use AOSP, and they'll be quicker to update. Dev teams are testing features, seeing what code is deprecated, what features can be dropped due to low use, etc. A minimum of two to three month wait is normal for some roms to update. If you think they are taking awhile, help them out. Otherwise, enjoy the wait cuz this is a hobby for everyone.

thank you both. I guess I'll have to wait more patiently like I've been waiting for xposed
I was particularly looking for something similar to S-AOSP as that won't be continued to Oreo

Situation with OTAs,any type of Betas ?

I'm in a position where I could trade in my Oneplus 6T for a 9T.I like the 9T for it's cameras, bigger battery, fingerprint and feel it would be a useful trade for me, but.
Oneplus is so good with OTAs and open betas
I would probably miss that if I moved
What's Xiaomi like for updates ?
Specifically ,are there any Beta programs
Read somewhere they've stopped global betas
So then you only have something like quarterly updates,
Is that correct ?
I'd flash the eu Version (has no bloatware) and they push weekly updates

China beta updates every week and xiaomi.eu debloats It and adds language support, so of you're confortable with modding (you don't lose your warranty of you unlock the bootloader) and want a taste of MIUI, you can use Xiaomi.eu beta ROM (most certainly First build Will come out tomorrow morning)

Yes, unfortunely this Is the worst thing about Xiaomi, software, that's One of the reasons why It Is so cheap, luckily enough there are plenty of devs willing ti build custom ROMs and patch GSI images for Xiaomi devices
there is no xeu beta rom for k20/mi9t. only stable.
and there is for k20pro/mi9t pro. i am also little disappointed , but even if xiaomi wil stop global beta program, why there are beta roms for others for example mi9se, as i metion already k20pro, why no for me 9t/k20

Android 10 AOSP beta Official Stock Update Queries

So the Android 10 beta has been out for a while. I was browsing through it and I still haven't updated to the beta version since I heard it was very buggy and unstable. However, I am very eager to try the new beta version (released:23/09/2020) since it boasts of lesser bugs and most importantly it says that we can use GPay.
However I am a big UI fan and was wanting to know what features have they released in this update. Most importantly
have they released the new navigation bar?
Also what other bugs should I expect?
Can I use it as my daily driver after updating?
All in all, should I even consider updating since I love stability I use my phone for a lot for my job and everything.
What should I expect if I update?
What is the SOT?
How heated does it get?
Thanks in advance!
