Found this method in a S7 forum and as I can see it's use also for Note8 but no one talked about it for S8.
With a file manager go to root folder
Sys --> class ---> power supply ---> battery
Look for:
fg_cycle (number of charge cycles)
fg_fullcapnom ("real" battery capacity*)
*On devices with Android 7 it should be multiplyed by 2, but as I can see not on Samsung devices
How is your capacity? Is this number reliable?

I have 107 cyvles and 2845 capacity. Seems legit - about 5% of wear

Battery cycles 358 and 1263....phone will be 2 years in june this year so either the battery is almost dead....or i have to multiply by 2
Just bought a Galaxy s9+ and it's on 2 cycles with 3331 capacity. Which is around 5 percent down from 3500. Will this get better over time or should I ask for a battery replacement?

im not rooted and im able to check using ES file explorer
I bought my S8 on December and according to this I'm on 57 cycles with 2689 capacity. Is that correct?? I would be dissapointed after the company's talk about this phone's battery lasting much longer than S7.

Screenshot please. I am not able to find any 'sys' folder.
Edit- I found it, 181 cycles & 2686 capacity.
It says 3288 here. I bought it August...
88 cycles.
297 cycles and 2627mah...genuinely disappointed at the battery loss on such a "young" phone!
Got mine august 2018
I'm at 2942 capacity (it actually shows 1471 so I'm guessing mine is one you have to multiply by 2?). My cycles only shows 1 though, what's up with that? Lol. Bought it in August.
S8+
July 2017
I see 1 cycle only.
Battery at 1704 x 2 = 3408.
I guess it doesn't count/work...
Or I'm pretty lucky !
If this is true, then this sucks.
s8 bought in october.
87 cycles
battery 2725
Edit: My usage is low-to-medium.
I wouldn't trust that. Mine says in the folder 3288. So if i multiply it it will be over 6000.
Something's off....
hello you can now check this with phone info . The infomation about the battery health are based on the informations of this files.
But i think that this informations are false too
I opened fg_cycle and fg_fullcapnom and it says 0 on both but my phone is 4-5 months

I don't think you have to multiply capacity by 2 on the s7. Using this method, my S7 says 2535 capacity after 145 cycles. The OEM spec on the S7 battery is 3000 mAh, so I can't imagine the S7 model requires the x2 cofactor.
I have 249 cycles, at 2638 capacity
Bought mine in August 2018
So when Samsung announced the phone they mentioned that the capacity would only drop 5% over two years of use, with what kind of use???
3 cycles only, is this for real? Capacity nom 2951 & capacity 99 (fg_capacity) seems rather ok since I bought the S8 in August 2017.
Somehow I don't really trust the info. fg_cycle was last updated on April 2nd, 2018 & yes I fully charged my Phone a few times the last 4 days. So I don't know what to think about it.
S7 edge- 20 charge cycles,
3,442mAh (if the 2x thing works);
Samsung just replaced this battery a couple months ago, and I used it for a full month after that.
S8 Plus- 0 charge cycles (but there is something that says "battery_cycle" has 107 [on my S7 Edge the file says 22]),
3,412mAh (again, if the 2x thing works, but I doubt it is.)
Used on an off for the last year, definitely should have 60+ charge cycles.
S9 Plus- 13 charge cycles, (but "battery_cycle" says 15)
3,335mAh (clearly the 2x does not apply lol).
I received this on launch date (March 16th I think).
So my S7 edge has dropped 4.4%, while the S8 Plus is 2.5% and the S9 Plus is 4.7%.
Either this is a flawed system or the S9 Plus battery is horrible.

That just shows what the current capacity of the battery is (percentage) , not the life of the battery.

Idk about you guys but i suspect that newer android OS versions affect battery life on older devices on purpose . I noticed that after oct update , after pixel 2 was released !
In the last 3 days my phone when is close to 15% it close itself and after i try to reoppen the phone battery is at 1% . i tried to recalibrate the battery but i have the same problem , to see if that´s true (that i have only 1%) i made 4 back-ups in TWRP (around 327 sec/backup) and my phone is still on ! wtf?

It's called a bad battery
You should have read one of the dozens of battery threads here before posting, and you'd realize just how ridiculous your conspiracy theory is. Doubt it? Test it first, then buy a replacement battery.

Don't blame you at all. If/when my battery goes South, I will probably uupgrade rather than cracking it open... but we have 3 and so far all is good. Accubattery shows North of 90% for all 3 of them. Mine is 95%. Was looking at a Pixel XL (1) ... bang for the buck, but until one of these dies we are all happy.

If it's not your battery, then using the app called battery calibration should help you. But if it is, get some one to help you out a new battery in it. It's works liked new for me.
Hi all,
I Have s7 edge duos 1 year and 8-9 months. I use phone much, play Asphalt 8 every day.. In last 10-15 days I can see my phone drain battery much, especially when play game. I did full wipe 2 times but not much difference.
Phone is stock, never rooted.
What you think, can some stock rom from sammobile or curstom rom+kernel help? Or this is normal after almost 2 years using phone??
Thanks for advice.
There is an app that can very accurately measure the battery wear (percentage of dead battery cells). It's called AccuBattery and its free on Play Store. I have the phone also about 1 year 8 months and my battery is at ~70% capacity (2600mAh vs. the original 3600mAh) so I also experience this huge battery drain. This is not something that can be fixed by software. Consider replacing your battery. (I read somewhere that a new original Samsung S7 Edge battery costs 30eur + handwork, so if you wanna search for a replacement it might come in handy to know how much they are charging you for their handywork)
EDIT: AccuBattery needs a few charges to accurately measure the battery wear, so don't look at the results immediately, wait a couple of days.
I have the exynos version of s7 edge and its been 8 months since i got this.... and i get massive battery drain due to android system and device idel...
Used a battery testing app it showed most of the battery was draines by apps usage around 61%...
I reset my phone twice.... i don't know any solution...

So i switched to launchair and applied dark theme.... turned off location history and everything and now even with wifi on my device has 5 hour of screen on time with 41% power left in battery... ps. I also enabled the mid power saving mode and tgings are wat better now.... 8 hours of usage time remaining

Moj prijatelj ima servis telefona. Danas sam pricao s njim oko zamene baterije.
I mnogo me to odvlaci da ga promnim. Za note 8 nisam pri parama iskreno. Ako zamenis bateriju obavesti me.
Nadam se da nije zabranjeno pisati na srpskom na xda. Nisam citao pravila.
So quick question:
If I charge my phone slowly, accubattery reports my battery as being ~2700mAh whereas if I do quickcharge, I get an abysmal ~2000mAh. I mean I already bought a new battery, but how much of my original is left?
Any good way to tell exactly how much my phone will hold?

On my case, I installed a new battery then I did a test myself.
By using USB battery capacity test tool, the result is near 3100 mah.
By accuracy battery, the result is 3400 mah.
The result on accuracy battery not change for a month whatever on normal charge or quick charge. So I think the app is pretty accurate minus 300 mah.
So you may keep charging on both methods. Then use the average number to minus 300mah.
(I guess you have 4 hours SOT, right?)
I believe he's referring to actual, physical battery life. How long will it last before it starts to fail and needs replacing.
Maybe.

The seller said the battery will label random from 3100 to 4000 mah.
But I think it is fake, by using usb tester, the capacity is still about 3150 though, I dont know how the battery can fool the accubattery app.

Well, I also had about 2300 mAh three or four months ago. Now I found out that snapping an HDR+ pic with less than 40% battery will shut off my device (voltage goes below the shutdown threshold from abt. 3.7V) since all cores go at full tilt when processing...
I think Accubattery's reading is good mainly for knowing when to change the battery, i.e. if it says less than 2700 it's time to get a new one. Sadly I can't find one, so I'll have to put up with this until I find someone that sends stuff to my country

I finally bit the bullet and bought an original one via Aliexpress. It cost $6 plus about $5 in shipping. Now to wait a month or more, as usual with aliexpress
My battery is one year 8 months old. Whenever it got down to 30-37% it would automatically shut off, no warning or anything. When I plugged it in it read 30-37% and would start right up. The battery life in general was terrible.
So I would say if your battery is over a year and a half old and your having problems with it you should think about replacing it. No software will overcome a worn out battery.
I bought my battery from ebay and put it in myself. Not as easy as some would make it look but it's doable. What helps get the back of the phone off is a small flathead screwdriver with a very thin tip to get inbetween halves and then twist to seperate.

But as soon as display is active and some slightly more demanding apps are running, battery is melting like snowflakes in summer in Florida !
I'd say under these circumstances SoT will be about 9 or 10 hours... Which is what I'd expect from a 4k or 4k2 battery but not a 5000mAh...
It's not bad really, just a little disappointing ???
EDIT : I confirm that battery life is a real disappointment ! I think with medium use you can't get more than 7/8 hours SoT...
This is to be expected from a phone with 4k mAh battery but I hoped for at least 11 hours from a phone with 5k mAh battery
I guess this will not stay and will be replaced with something else probably a Xiaomi mi max 3 : less performance but people reporting up to 17 hours SoT !
And at least some development and living forum... This seems simply dead

I thought I am the only one with this issue...With auto brightness turned on, it's showing that the estimated battery life left is 2 days 20 hours left after a full charge...Also it's taking like 5+ hours to charge the battery to 100% using the stock charger & cable...I saw battery charging tests on YT & I saw people easily managing to fully charge it in about 1:50 hours so I don't know wth is happening in my handset...Mine is completely new, just a few days old...Can be a firmware issue too...I will wait for the next firmware update & see...
Hi,
Good luck...
As far as I am concerned, I have given up the Honor Note 10. Here are the reasons why :
- zero support from manufacturer... a firmware update every 3 months, but probably none anymore after the third or fourth update ;
- Honor's stupid policy about not allowing to unlock the phone ;
- the result : zero developer interest for this device ;
- dead XDA forum (last post except yours was like 52 hours ago) ;
- people in this channel only supporting EMUI and discouraging any attempt to install anything else on the device...
So I switched to the XCiaomi mi Max 3.
Of course, not the same powerhorse as it only has SD 636, but that is enough for my needs...
And easily unlocked ; Xiaomi releasing a new ROM (beta or stable) every week/month ; devs working to port LAOS to it ; nice people in the XDA forum...
So despite this all, if anyone is interested in buying a Honor Note 10 8/128, I'm selling it
Regards.

Can you please confirm after you charge it fully to 100% & you are unplugging the charger, what is the estimated battery life left is showing in your handset ?? A screenshot from your battery section would have been nice after you charge your phone to 100%...Thank You...

Make sure you do a factory reset & set the Pie from Scratch like a new phone...If you have installed it over Oreo without a factory reset, the performance may not be that smooth as some left-over files from Oreo may slow-down your system...Doing a factory reset will improve your battery run time...Mine did...
Before making factory reset, don't forget to do a full system backup using HiSuite...

I bought the Huawei supercharge brick 5v4,5a/4,5v5a and i can get full charge in less than 2hours but the inbox charger is really slow since it's not supercharge but standard 18w quickcharge!

I got the Supercharger in the box when I imported it from China but because of some Firmware issues, I was not getting the Supercharging speed...At first I thought maybe the charger is bad or slow but then I checked it & it was indeed a Supercharger with 5A...Then I thought maybe my Type C cable is bad...I kept trying & trying but was not being able to get SuperCharging out of it...I was also about the buy a spare SuperCharger but the last official 165 Oreo FW solved my issue automatically...Now my stock charger also completes the charge within 2 hours...And shows SuperCharging always, when I plug my phone to the stock charger...
Using the Ampere app from Playstore, I checked the charging amp & it still varies between 2800-3300 Amp though...I may buy the Spare SuperCharger later just to check if I can get 4000-4500+ Amp charging speed which atleast I should be getting from a 5A charger but since the current charger is doing it's job under 2 hours, I am not much bothered about buying another charger...Maybe later...
Hello,
I have recently purchased this little usb battery capacity tester. I have used it on my 20000mah power bank and it showed me a capacity of around 16000mah. That seems realistic, considering that I have used that power bank quite a few times for a couple of years.
I then decided to test my S8 battery. I fully discharged it twice, to make sure that no mistakes happen, and then charged the phone while it's off. Made sure I am charging just the battery with no power being used.
The result was a little bit disappointing. I have gotten 1494mah ... Is that real ? The device clearly works, but the phone was bought last March. It's only 8 months old.
Any input will be helpful.
Thanks
Ps. Seems I'm too new to attach the image, sorry

That thread is incorrect. If you go by that thread me and my wife's sister show exactly the same battery stats. 2741 mAh left and my sister is over a year old and it show me 2 cycles

Maybe you are right???
My S8 shows 8 cycles and 2733 mAh.
Phone is almost 2 yrs but I never (well, almost never) let it drop below 40% and as I understand it a cycle starts when the phone is below 20% - but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure 20 is the magic number. I did I looked at mine and it it's like 1471 x2 and my wife's capnom was exactly the same....
my phone is almost 3 months older and she charges sometimes 2 times a day so I don't believe those numbers are for checking capacity. But for something else.
I'm limited to the 80% charge by root and I never drop below 40% so the cycle thing I believe it's accurate

Well Hell, here I was feeling good having 2733 mAh on a 2 year old 3000 mAh phone
But I'll accept your view on the matter and just be happy I still have very good idle/ on screen time.

Yeah, can see it doesnt make any sense in regard to the mAh.
Also noticed your mAh is shown as 1471 and you have to multiply by 2, whereagainst my phone shows the 2733 mAh??
So guess the Capnom is monitoring something else.....
