Hello,
I have recently purchased this little usb battery capacity tester. I have used it on my 20000mah power bank and it showed me a capacity of around 16000mah. That seems realistic, considering that I have used that power bank quite a few times for a couple of years.
I then decided to test my S8 battery. I fully discharged it twice, to make sure that no mistakes happen, and then charged the phone while it's off. Made sure I am charging just the battery with no power being used.
The result was a little bit disappointing. I have gotten 1494mah ... Is that real ? The device clearly works, but the phone was bought last March. It's only 8 months old.
Any input will be helpful.
Thanks
Ps. Seems I'm too new to attach the image, sorry

That thread is incorrect. If you go by that thread me and my wife's sister show exactly the same battery stats. 2741 mAh left and my sister is over a year old and it show me 2 cycles

Maybe you are right???
My S8 shows 8 cycles and 2733 mAh.
Phone is almost 2 yrs but I never (well, almost never) let it drop below 40% and as I understand it a cycle starts when the phone is below 20% - but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure 20 is the magic number. I did I looked at mine and it it's like 1471 x2 and my wife's capnom was exactly the same....
my phone is almost 3 months older and she charges sometimes 2 times a day so I don't believe those numbers are for checking capacity. But for something else.
I'm limited to the 80% charge by root and I never drop below 40% so the cycle thing I believe it's accurate

Well Hell, here I was feeling good having 2733 mAh on a 2 year old 3000 mAh phone
But I'll accept your view on the matter and just be happy I still have very good idle/ on screen time.

Yeah, can see it doesnt make any sense in regard to the mAh.
Also noticed your mAh is shown as 1471 and you have to multiply by 2, whereagainst my phone shows the 2733 mAh??
So guess the Capnom is monitoring something else.....

I just crossed the 350 hour mark and shooting for 1000 hours of uptime. This started as an experiment to see how long it would take without a reboot for the phone to slow down. So far, it's still running as fast as it typically does after a reboot.
How about you guys? I think I'm going to try and see if I can hit a month without rebooting.
I'm at the 250 hour mark now and the only reason it's not higher is because I've run it completely dry of battery a couple of times
edit:
Getting my 1600mAh and 2800mAh batteries from Seidio today though, so the counter is gonna reset again ;(

With those new batteries how much longer can you expect to be able to use it say with standard use?
Mine lasts a full day mostly so far. Just curious.
Cheers,

I didn't look at mine. I normally don't have uptime of more than 24 hours since I frequently have to reboot to check the function of my morphs.
I've had about 280 before. Since I've rooted though, there's a bug in the superboot that I've done that wrecks the phone every other day or so. Something with memory card access. I'm trying to find a rock-solid ROM with himem and root. Speaking of that, suggestions?

A little off-topic but ok. It's just simple math really, the standard battery is 1400mAh. The 1600mAh would therefore last 14% longer and the 2800mAh battery would last twice as long as the 1400mAh battery.
I'm at 630 hours right now. Probably the most I have seen it at but yeah, I don't really check that much. Do I win a prize?

Can't you plug it into the wall jack so that you don't loose power while changing the battery? I can do this with my tilt. My previous phone had a switch on the battery door that shut it off. I'm not sure about the N1.

That's 100% impossible.
I've been using several different 7.1.2 roms and battery life has been atrocious. I use wingoku 4.1.
I pair my smart watch to it but even when I use wifi (no bt) its bad, draining quickly, last checked about 22% per hr. Even with screen off listening to podcasts it still will drop a lot more than it used to.
I really don't have much in terms of stats. Honestly I don't obsess much about it normally but now its noticable.
Aside from suggesting another rom & kernel, would I benefit from formatting data and starting over?

Install accubattery and run it though a few charge cycles, it will be able to tell you the life left in your battery, it's possible that you have the same issue many of us have had with a degradation of the battery.

Yea. Thats my biggest fear. Ive replaced small parts before but my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be so Im afraid I might mess it up. Plus I'll need to buy a heat gun.
I'll be more than a little pissed if the battery's shot. This phone is barely 14 months old. Either give us a decent battery or make it replaceable.
Thanks for the info btw. I just installed the app.
Update--Im switching things up a bit. Recently I made some changes and this time I flashed a new rom without some of those changes.
1. I had switched from Action 3 to Nova
*HIGHLY doubt nova is eating up my battery so Im still using it BUT I did remove a widget that has weather. Since I keep phone on device only location, I think theres a chance its always trying to find my locale and consuming battery.
2. I didn't add a gov profile yet.
3. This is the first time in about 4 or 5 rom flashes I didnt flash CTT Mod.
* Again I doubt this is causing battery issues but Im gonna hold off flashing it. No throttling thus far.
As suggested Ill be monitoring with accubattery for a few cycles. But been using my phone about 90 mins this morning (at least 90% of that time actively using with screen on) and I've lost 13%--a huge improvement from yesterday.

Accubattery for the proof. New battery for the fix. You could always buy online and have it installed locally. Read up on where to score a good replacement battery, rather than another dud.

Best to let it run below 20% at least and then fully charge until the APP tells you the battery is full- not your phone. Don't unplug until Accubattery says it is full. What you will observe is that the phone will continue to charge for 45 minutes to an hour past when the phone itself is reporting 100%. You will find the estimated capacity under the Health tab. Once or twice below 20% is enough to get a close approximation. After that it will move a couple percent max. You will know soon enough.

Well it turns out my battery is in need of replacing.
I let it run down like you said. I was going to go further down but once it hit 20% my phone turned off. I plugged it in, opened accubattery and it said 46% under health.
But I just checked again after charging to 100% and it now says 63% (2182 mAh total capacity).
I checked my imei on the Huawei site and my phone is 3 days out of warranty. Im hoping to get them to fix it.

Well sorry to hear that. Good luck to you on the RMA route. If not, the Cameron Sino brand replacement is a bit more expensive but includes a working battery temperature sensor. It will make your phone like new. Note in the thread I referenced above, some parts may get scratched/cracked depending on the skill of the repair person. They aren't expensive so it you are intending to keep the 6P for a while longer, it may be worth it to buy those just in case.

Thanks for the support! I checked that thread and didn't see specific parts (inexpensive ones you referenced) If they're listed Ill look again. It doesn't seem too daunting. I was able to replace the screen on my son's WiU controller. Those were very tiny parts and YES--I did snap off a clip, however I was able to fudge it and it's still working about a year later.
Far as RMA, does anyone know if they replace it with the same crappy stock battery? From my perspective this seems like a clear case where a recall is in order.
But if its the same battery, Im just setting myself up for the same problems 8 to 12 months from now. Even if I buy a new phone Id still want to sell this one and thats not as easy with a crap battery. Plus theyd have my phone for x days so Id need to find a temp phone in the meantime.
Don't mean to jabber on...this sucks.
Oh yeah...cuz it was after hours I sent an email to support last night. Do you think Ill get a response? Or should I just call when I have time to be on hold?
Spoke to a clone at Huawei then asked to speak to the clone's supervisor (wasn't sure if clones had supervisors--they do. But the programming is identical.) Long frustrating phone call and they aren't going to replace my battery because its out of warranty...by 4 f#@&ing days!
I told them they lost a customer for life and I was being 100% sincere. How could I ever buy from people who thinks it ok to sell defective crap, know about it, then do nothing to make things right?
I'm gonna replace the battery on my own. Whether things go good or terrible, one thing is certain--itll be the last time I ever replace anything on any product made by Huawei.
Idk about you guys but i suspect that newer android OS versions affect battery life on older devices on purpose . I noticed that after oct update , after pixel 2 was released !
In the last 3 days my phone when is close to 15% it close itself and after i try to reoppen the phone battery is at 1% . i tried to recalibrate the battery but i have the same problem , to see if that´s true (that i have only 1%) i made 4 back-ups in TWRP (around 327 sec/backup) and my phone is still on ! wtf?

If it's not your battery, then using the app called battery calibration should help you. But if it is, get some one to help you out a new battery in it. It's works liked new for me.
So quick question:
If I charge my phone slowly, accubattery reports my battery as being ~2700mAh whereas if I do quickcharge, I get an abysmal ~2000mAh. I mean I already bought a new battery, but how much of my original is left?
Any good way to tell exactly how much my phone will hold?

On my case, I installed a new battery then I did a test myself.
By using USB battery capacity test tool, the result is near 3100 mah.
By accuracy battery, the result is 3400 mah.
The result on accuracy battery not change for a month whatever on normal charge or quick charge. So I think the app is pretty accurate minus 300 mah.
So you may keep charging on both methods. Then use the average number to minus 300mah.
(I guess you have 4 hours SOT, right?)
I believe he's referring to actual, physical battery life. How long will it last before it starts to fail and needs replacing.
Maybe.

Well, I also had about 2300 mAh three or four months ago. Now I found out that snapping an HDR+ pic with less than 40% battery will shut off my device (voltage goes below the shutdown threshold from abt. 3.7V) since all cores go at full tilt when processing...
I think Accubattery's reading is good mainly for knowing when to change the battery, i.e. if it says less than 2700 it's time to get a new one. Sadly I can't find one, so I'll have to put up with this until I find someone that sends stuff to my country

I finally bit the bullet and bought an original one via Aliexpress. It cost $6 plus about $5 in shipping. Now to wait a month or more, as usual with aliexpress
My battery is one year 8 months old. Whenever it got down to 30-37% it would automatically shut off, no warning or anything. When I plugged it in it read 30-37% and would start right up. The battery life in general was terrible.
So I would say if your battery is over a year and a half old and your having problems with it you should think about replacing it. No software will overcome a worn out battery.
I bought my battery from ebay and put it in myself. Not as easy as some would make it look but it's doable. What helps get the back of the phone off is a small flathead screwdriver with a very thin tip to get inbetween halves and then twist to seperate.

What battery did you buy? I'm looking in Aliexpress (Stuff gets to my country from there albeit after a month or two) and there are original batteries, and Losoncoer and HSABAT 3650 mAh batteries

Hi, sorry about reopening the old post, but did you bought the Habasat battery?
I need to replace mine and I want to know if it works ok, haven't found any reviews anywhere
Hello all,
I was curious to see what is my current battery capacity since I see a huge decline in my SOT since couple week.
As you all know the phone should have a 3700 mah but after using the application accubattery pro I see that I have only 3300 mah.
Is there any one with the same doubt? Should I use a different application to see this value.
I don't have root in my phone so please advise me on applications that don't need root.

Nothing to worry about. https://photos.app.goo.gl/jnk1kn76SfGk173a8 this was my first charge with this phone from 0 to 100% (overnight) until the phome didn't draw anymore current. I use this to compare when I have the feeling that my battery is dying.
I would search your drain else where. Dolby Atmos Magisk module was a big one for me.
Also I do agree. I used to get 6hrs SoT over 24-36 hours and now that has decreased. I'm not charging my phone every 2 days anymore but every day now.

Well like I said before, I don't have root and unlock bootloader.
I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. Need to see what else is hapoejing and if someone else has the same issue.
On my op3t I sent it to rma with the same issue

Welcome to the phone world. Get rid of unnecessary apps is all you can do. Perhaps a factory reset but a RMA or replacement of the battery isn't going to help. Just enjoy your phone and charge it when you want.

I am not sure how accurate this app is - especially with OnePlus devices. I have used it on my last 3 phones, all OnePlus devices, and it has never given me what I consider an accurate reading of the my true estimated capacity. It's always less, sometime considerably off from the "Design Capacity". I just got the 6T and my estimated capacity is almost the same as yours.
Hope this helps.
