Hi. I recently made the huge mistake of trying to update my rooted huawei p9 lite's system and it crashed. It got stuck in "your device is booting now" and since I figured out it crashed because of the update, a good way of restoring my device is to wipe the entire system (I kind of now know that it was a pretty huge mistake, at least with that I think I am right). All I know is that ist is a VNS-L21 since I found that on the back of the phone, but i don't know what follows after 21. I tried to add on an SD Card an update.zip, but since I don't really know what model it is, I fount on google VNS-L21C432B381 but there are many more models like this and I don't know which one is mine, it failed. Then, my laptop stopped copying .zip files correctly and I gave up on this method. Then, I tried to extract several update.app files in a dload folder on SD Card one-by-one, meaning one failed, tried to download another one, copied on SD, volume up+down+power button and so on, but I can't find a good file.
PLEEASE, I've been trying to repair this phone for the last 60 hours and I think I start to be a little bit irritable because I can't figure out a good method to repair this beautifully tangled situation.
Thank you in advance!

Hey guys,
I've bought my MX4 Pro almost a year ago, but decided only now to ask for your help. Hope you'll be able to guide me to fixing the several problems i have.
First of all, phone came with Flyme 4.5.7I and right from the start there were some features not working. Most important, the fingerprint screen unlock isnt working. After capturing my fingerprint, when i try to enable it to unlock screen it just takes me back to the home screen.
Another issue is getting sometimes (it happens randomly) a no sim error. Sometimes restarting is enough, sometimes i need to take out the sim card and insert it back.
Ever since i've tried to update firmware, hoping it would solve my problems. Nothing has worked.
Dowloaded the update.zip (no matter which version) and placed it in root directory. When i try to open it with the document app i get two options, view and extract. Can't update. Also starting the phone using volume+ and power button (update screen) has always produced the same results: Firmware corrupt. Tried doing it with clearing data, without that, no difference. Tried with a .bin file, same thing.
As far as i know the bootloader is locked, and i remember checking if the device is properly rooted and IT IS NOT.
So, the more android savvy people here can help? I'm lost and i really enjoyed the phone so far, but i dont really know what to do from now on. Is it a faulty device? (This would be the worse, since the phone was bought from China).
I can provide any additional details if needed.
Thanks in advance
P.S. I remember trying every tutorial/solution out there, nothing has seemed to work. I also may be dumb, not sure.
I already opened an RMA for the phone but they have no stock so I figured I'll take another shot at it.
The short version is that my gf messed up and updated the system while transferring her data from her old phone with the tapNgo thing.
I've done multiple facory resets, downloaded the rom from ZTE support, put it on SD, flashed it from recovery and deleted cache and nothing helps.
I don't have the exact error log anymore since I don't have the phone with me now but it reads something along the lines of
loading /proc/devices/audio/sound------ cannot find file/directory.
I looked it up and after a lot of Googling it seems like the symlink to the actual driver folder is missing and I have no idea why.
Does anyone know if i can fix this with an ADB shell?
Alternatively, I tried to follow some of the many guides out there to put the phone in EDL mode and relfash it with XiamiFlash utility but after trying 3-4 downloads and 900 versions of misflash all I ever get is "reading hello packet... unable to communicate to com4"
Haaaalp please?
*edit* this is pretty much exactly the same as what I'm getting: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/sound-card-detected-t3379736
The problem with the phone is it makes no sounds?

the sound drivers for the OS is missing completely, no sound no microphone.
The syslog looks like this(this is from another phone its its the exact same problem):
AudioDaemon: Opening sound card state : /proc/asound/card---/state
AudioDaemon: Open /proc/asound/card---/state failed : No such file or directory
AudioDaemon: Sleeping for 100 ms
Strange issue indeed. Which model do you have? Which specific firmware file are you flashing to it?
I would think flashing the full unmodified factory firmware using the stock recovery will wipe the phone completely, including the /data partition.
Everything worked before? Help me understand the order of events. What is tapngo?
While in the midst of transferring information to or from the phone, a software update appeared and she accepted/installed it?
Its the A2017U model.
I had tried the 1.1.0 B15 firmware from SD card as well as the 1.0.0 B29 older firmware.
Right now its on B17 Nougat 7.1.1, the phone runs and works perfectly just has no audio hardware.
I wasn't there for the exact procedure but basically she powered it on, it asked for sim, she inserted that, tapped the "transfer my data" and then held the two phones together to get the NFC process started. That starts the bluetooth transfer process and it takes a really long time where it transfers all data and apps from the old phone.
At this point the phone still made sounds when adjusting the volume etc.
Somewhere in that process the "update available" notification came up and she pressed the option to install it.
After I got home I tried to figure out what is wrong, first i thought the phone wasn't registered on the cellphone network but then after a bit i figured out the audio is the issue, then i did a factory reset both from the phone UI and tried again from recovery mode, both times chose the "erase all data" option but neither time did it help at all.
I don't really know enough about phones but i think its the bootloader/something very early on thats messed up. Either that or the audio chip really just did fry.
My hope was to get the full factory image for everything that you need to install with the EDL mode thing but I can't find any good reliable guides for that.
It's the first thread in the development section.. Stickied even.

Get this package - B15-NEW_FULL (Nougat)
I really don't understand zte's numbering scheme. Newer versions get lower numbers. Makes no sense. That's the full firmware except for the fastboot which passes commands. At this point it's a non issue given the issue you're having.
So I don't need to load TWRP on it, I can still keep it just stock with unlocked bootloader?
I tried that miflash thing before, i had it connected un usb download mode but nothing worked for me, I'll try doing this guide when i get home step by step again.
Their firmware numbers is based on numbers and letters 1.0a-z and then 1.1a-z so 1.0z1 is less that 1.1a1
Ok I have an update
Did miflash, nothing changed.
Ulocked bootloader and miflashed the bootloader from the sticky thread.
The phone made the startup sound and audio worked for a few seconds after android started up and then stopped again
*edit*
ok so after it showed signs of life i re-locked the bootloader, and did the OTA updates to 7.1.1 and the audio seems to be working for good now!!
Conclusion seems to be the bootloader was the key to get it working again. Hope this helps others if it comes to it.
I tried loading lineageOS onto my P9 lite without making a backup, needless to say after the wipe/format the installation failed and I cannot get my P9 lite to boot, tried update file in dload folder, tried other roms which install but doesnt boot up, basically all I feel like doing now is be in a fetus position and cry...
Feels like i've read all guides/posts out there but all seem to get it right.
Getting lineage to work will be best, getting the phone to start with orignal or any software will be great!
My wife has a p9 lite, any way to do a backup of her phone I can use to restore my phone? obviously given my track record she doesnt want me to scratch around too much or unlock anything
My device details : VNS-L31C185B380

Hi to all
My name is Yarli and this is my first post on XDA-Dev.
I have a Huawei P9 Lite and I have a problem.
I did root on it following one of the 1.000 manuals on XDA. I unlock it contacting Huawei, and I downloaded like 4 or 5 different roms to test.
No one worked. Never. So even having a rooted cellphone I never could use it. I did the same with a Nexus 5 before, and I'm still doing it, actually. I like testing roms. But with this P9 Lite, no ways.
This was a second cell phone to play with so once I saw was impossible to put a damn Rom on it, I surrender. And kept it on a draw.
A few months ago I read Huawei was blocking the root access on its cell phones so I did the rollback and I installed a version of emui restored and downloaded from Huawei. Everything looks like working so I kept the cellphone clean: no google account, no apps, nothing. It looked ok. Youtube working fine, camera too, everything fine.
Last week. My girlfriend broke her cellphone. "Don't worry, I have one for you". So... I didn't. As soon as you try to set your google account the Play Store freezes and went back to the "insert account" screen.
I have a Huawei Attention Center close to my place. I took my cellphone there to check it like "Sorry, I put your software, officially downloaded from your website and my phone is no working right". And they say "You have to change the mother-****ing-board. 159€". For this price ¡I would buy another brand new cellphone!
So, the question:
What can I do?
Thanks for your collaboration.
Some info
Emui 4.1.1
VNS-L31C900B170
ANDROID 6.0
I dont know if this will help but, when I enter pressing the three buttons, on the emui recovery it says "Downloading package", bla bla bla,... and then "Software install failed" The update package does not exist, please dowload the package again" and I only can Reboot system now.
What the hell to do?
Thanks

Hi Yarli,
i was wandering why you rollbacked, you could have chosen to do only unroot and
flash the stock recovery to keep having updates.
Maybe you misunderstood what happened on Huawei world.
They do not closed access to root, they closed access to website used
to request bootloader code.
During the rollback something is gone wrong and you have that firmware ( C900 ).
Maybe with a correct firmware you could solve that stucked situation.
Three buttons AKA dload is used to perform a forced update,
so you have to put a DLOAD folder in SD card with inside update.app
file extracted from FullOTA firmware.
Yep this could solve, i said could.
So if you choose to do what i'm posting here you assume all responsability
about you are doing with your device... it may simply not work or make things worse.
If you don't agree just ignore this post, if you want to try then answer my questions:
Have you already tried a factory reset ?
Wich region do you live ?
First of all: Thank you so much for your answer.
It seems I didn't get it right. At the end I wasn't using this p9 so much so I wasn't so deep on it. Now I see.
Let's see:
I have already try the factory reset, and the result is the same. The phone works, even if I put the sim card I can call and receive calls. But when I try to add my gmail account I can't. The systems gets out all the time. So no calendar, no mail, no fotos, no nothing related to my google account.
My region is Spain.
Again, thanks for your help

Hey, based on your firmware (B170) was expecting ASIA,
now i'm little confused because i can't find it for european versions.
Was your phone branded / unbranded one ? Do you remenber your last fully working firmware ?
VNS-L31CxxxBxxx ?
Good afternoon.
Finally, after posting this thread in March, I had enough time for try to update my Huawei P8 Lite. As pointed before, I was coming from Compilation ALE-L21C40B181.
I used Firmware Finder for Huawei to check the Telefonica Spain update to Android 6.0, and found the version is ALE-L21C40B508.
I downloaded the ROM in two ways: Using the App to force a VPN connection and download it, and using this webpage.
The update.zip I downloaded from Firmware Finder didn't worked, as it failed at 5%.
I copied this failed update.zip from the folder where it downloaded, to dload_ota, and tried to do a Local Instalation. It didn't recognized the file.
I copied it to External SD>dload and it recognized it. Tried to update, and again: Failed at 5%.
Finally, I decided to use the web-downloaded .zip, and replaced the External SD faulty file, but didn't deleted the dload_ota faulty file.
When I used the B508 downloaded from Fordroid, it worked amazing! However, as the .zip file is very heavy, I tried to delete them.
Guess what? I can't delete the dload_ota faulty .zip
Also, when I checked I lost the Root Access, I thought in a probably easy way to root it. Following what I learned from my Motorola XT907, I tried pressing Vol Up + Vol Down + Power to enter to Bootloader Mode, before checking on internet the tutorials.
Something weird happened: IT TRIED TO UPDATE AGAIN
Someone knows how to solve both issues? (I will try to find the rooting method after, but now I want to solve both the .zip undeletable file + update retrying)
I just did a Factory Reset to find if that could solve the problem (and believe me: I didn't wanted to do it in any way), and the file dissapeared. I don't know what was going on, but everything solved with a Factory Reset
Now I'm wondering why the phone told me my phone is Rooted, if I'm using a Stock ROM ._. but I'll find that later.
