Wifi only works on Airplane mode - Networking

I have strange issue,
- Issue started after updating phone to 6.0.1, phone cannot see any wifi network.
- When I turn Airplane mode on, wifi works normally, my wifi and neighbors' are all being seen and connected to normally
- When I turn Airplane mode off, and phone connect to mobile network, the phone stops seeing any wifi network.
- I am in Syria, there is a possibility this is new thing in new softwares to not work properly when phone detects Syrian mobile network, something to do with sanctions and politics, just not sure of it, and hope not.
Tried following:
- Reset device
- some dialer codes
- changing router channel
- my phone has no advanced options for wifi
- Reverting back to old software, all works normally, but phone keeps asking to be updated, and not really convenient to have to stay with old release
My information
- Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy XCover 3
- Software: 6.0.1 27 Oct 2017 update
- Phone not rooted

[Q] UK note 3 users. wifi problem with virgin media router

I sent my note 3 (sim free n9005) to repair one month ago because a sensor didn't work (another story). Now the sensor problem has been fixed. But there is another issue. The wifi keeps dropping. I mean wifi is completely turned off on my phone, then it tries to turn on, and off again... I have googled a while,it's not the wifi is slow, it's the wifi is completely turned off then it tries to turn it on, and keeps turning on and off. At first it happens occasionally and it can be turned on. Until several days ago, wifi could not be turned on at all. If I go into setting - connection - wifi, I will see it says 'turning on' but nothing happens. Reboot helps sometimes but the issue soon reappear. I did factory reset but no use. I would think it's the phone's problem. But When I go outside and test in public wifi (university wifi, MacDonald etc), it got no problem at all. So I began to think maybe there is something with the router. So I turned off my router, the wifi is turned on immediately and I can see all the wifi connections from my neighbours.
My router is virgin media netgear vmdg485 (100M fiber optical). I googled it, it seems specially made for Virgin media. It's a modem/router all-in-one device. Just wondering has anyone else got similar experience? B.T.W all other devices in my home connect to the wifi no problem at all. I think they may have upgraded my android software on the repair. I never had this problem before the repair. But android is the latest version (checked in settings). So I don't know what option I have on software side. Probably I need to try a new router?
And also I have tried everything I found on Internet (turn off switch network etc in advanced setting in wifi. turn off power saving for wifi, disable wifi direct/share, etc).

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my note and was advised to go into the wifi settings and deactivate "Scanning always available" and "Auto network switch".
I had this problem with a Virgin media router and where android was under the impression the connection was unstable it was deactivating the wifi to go back to the cellular.
This may be completely wrong but it solved it for me.
Hope this helps!
I had this issue and the only thing that solved it was a factory reset.
I had a similar problem with my Note 3 (SM-N9005) and Virgin Superhub 1
I hadn't previously noticed problems with wi fi at home when using different phones in the same location.
After much reading on support forum I concluded that many Superhub users believe the device is not very effective when operating as both a cable modem + wi fi router.
I opted for an expensive solution of buying a new wi fi router.
My Superhub now operates just as a cable modem and is connected via ethernet cable to the adjacent Asus RT-AC66U which does have the advantage of 802.11 ac.
Speed test result from Note 3 via wi fi setup described above.

Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks paul, mine is super hub as well. I want to get a router to test, but worring if it doesn't solve the issue.
wow, that router is a lot of money, really hope it's not the router issue.

[Q] WiFi works fine but takes ages to reconnect after falling back to 3G data

Hi all
I've been running CM 10.2 for a while and had no problems with it, but wanted to upgrade to Kit Kat so I flashed CM 11 via the Installer apk. Everything works great except I'm finding that if I go out of WiFi range and the phone falls back to 3G data, it won't reconnect to WiFi when I come back within range (e.g. when I get home from being out). Further details:
- manually reconnecting through settings DOESN'T work... it sees the networks but hitting 'connect' does nothing
- disabling the modem entirely via flight mode and then re-enabling DOES work... WiFi reconnects automatically
- the phone WILL reconnect by itself without flight mode but only after quite a long while
Anyone else experienced this behaviour and know of a fix?
Thanks!

[Q] Wifi continuously scanning while phone has good wifi connection.

This started Feb 3rd or 4th. The phone will connect to the wifi network, with a good signal. It will then re-scan every 5 seconds or so. This is causing all sorts of data transfer issues from downloads freezing to apps losing connectivity while running.
I am running on Verizon.
Specs below: (Sorry can't direct link yet...need 10 posts)

I am now running Android 5.0 but had NOT updated to 5.0 when this problem started.
I scoured google a bit and found an ATT forum that is essentially reporting what I am.
forums.att.com/t5/Samsung-Discussion-Support/Samsung-Galaxy-S5-Wi-Fi-Connectivity-Problems-After-4-4-4-Update/td-p/4190704
All other devices on the network are operating without issue - phones and computers - as was mine until now.
I have power cycled everything.
I have checked the routers settings.
The phone has been power cycled several times.
The phone has had every wifi setting that would be causing this scanning, that I know, disabled.
The following are off in Wifi > Advanced:
Wifi notifications
Passpoint
Always allow scanning
Smart network switch
I then, after the above, updated to Android 5.0. The issue still persists. Help me please.
My device does this, too. Cant say I have ever really noticed, I dont know if it has always done this or not.
I am not experiencing any issues like you describe.
Now that I think about it, I think it will always scan at a set interval when you enter the Wifi settings. It assumes you are looking for a network to connect to. I doubt its scanning when you are not in that setting.
I had this problem the other day. I went to wifi settings and had it forget the network and then rebooted and reconnected to my wifi network and it seems to have resolved the issue. others have just switched airplane mode on and off and this fixed it. good luck

Wifi won't automatically connect to known network!

I have a problem with my phone. The phone is completely original with the factory settings, with the latest updates from samsung.
I am connected to the router of my house without problems, network options (automatically reconect set) SMART NETWORK SWITCH IS OFF. BUT WHEN I LEAVE AND RETURN TO MY HOUSE, THE WIFI OF MY PHONE IS ON, BUT IT IS NOT RECONECT TO THE WIFI NETWORK AUTOMATICALLY. The phone is on 4g until unlock it, in this moment the phone reconect.
Another situation, I leave the wifi ON, if I enter in a place with public wifi, the phone is not conect to the network until I unlock it.
I try:
*. factory reset...........nothing
*. smart network switch (on/off) ...nothing
*.energy option (on/off)... nothing
Any suggestions?
Thank you very much!
My phone is doing the same thing. This is the first phone I've ever had that does not automatically reconnect to my home Wi-Fi or my work Wi-Fi. Any ideas?

wifi Keeps turning itself off [Y5II]

When I go into the settings and turn on Wifi about 5 seconds later it auto turns off the Wifi. It's a Y5ii. I tried many things to get the wifi & mobile internet working (E.g. Reset the phone, update phone) but it never works
