Capacitive buttons malfunction - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am experiencing some problems with my new MI A1. Stock software and update to Dec performed without any problems 2 day ago. Phone bought a month ago with no major problems till yesterday when I noticed that foreground apps are getting closed.
The only explanation I can find is that the home button is getting to "pressed state" without any touch applied, leading to any open app to get send to background and home screen appears. Also, sometimes the home button has no effect. The behavior is not constant: sometimes apps don't close for a longer time, other times they are instantaneously closed.
So, right now the phone is practically unusable, every app I start is getting closed. I managed to do a factory reset but with no change.
Any ideas about what else I can try before sending it to service?
Since I am a new user I can not post link to the video I made so maybe you can access by adding /watch?v=qD6566OFQKA to youtube address.
Thanks!

The touch&display was replaced under warranty. So, hardware issue.

Screen alignment issue

Hi everyone,
Just want to ask if anyone has experienced screen alignment issue with nexus one. I have had the phone since last Thursday and for the last two days had an issue with screen alignment. It was completely out of order. Say for example on my Home screen there is a short cut for the browser by default, when i tried to press it i would get applications menu instead. I tried pressing near the top of the screen and it would then select the browser, which is not right. I also experienced similar alignment issue using settings menu.
The only way to solve it is to reboot the phone.
I have just performed factory reset and will keep an eye on the phone and will update this thread accordingly.
p.s there is also a thread on Google help forum. so if anyone notices this issue please post to http://www.google.com/support/forum...ff&hl=en&fid=2a024bb25d4496ff00047cead2b2c2ad
if a reboot fixed it its probably a software issue. howeve I have never experienced this so far.
i know exactly what u mean!! sometimes i'd be texting, all of a sudden it would bring up the "menu" or it would go home

Anyone has idea will it be software or hardware issues?
Screen on can happen due to software request (for example alarm, phone call etc.) or above mentioned buttons and therefore it could be hardware (some type of short creating signal similar to the button press), so it's hard to say. You could try safe boot, factory reset and killing some apps for software related problem and dial *#0*# to test hardware, but I'm not sure if there is a particular test for those 2 buttons. There are also programs that can tell you what wakes the phone up, but since it's brand new phone you probably want to take it to the service at some point, it is not normal from what you describe.

Top part of screen stops responding to touch occasionally

After a while the top part of my screen will completely stop responding to touch. I can't pull down the notification area or press anything on the upper portion of the phone. After, I reboot it works for about 30 seconds and then the top part of the screen will stop working again. The only thing that will fix it is to wait it out. Maybe a few hours later it will start working again. Then a couple days later and the same thing happens. I think maybe my phone is overheating from some app or something and then it causes this to happen for some reason. That would I guess explain why it starts working after while, because the phone had a chance to cool off
Anybody else experience this?
Yes your not alone with this issue.
This happened to my galaxy S8 plus after using twitter.
I uninstalled the app but I hadn't regained the ability of touch response.
I don't have a backup device but have ordered an older model so that I can further diagnose.
In the meantime I found an app to help counteract the problem. ie. Rotation - Orientation Manager
To be clear this is the top portion of the screen from Very top to about a half inch down.
I verified by using a touch sensor test app. ie. Yet Another MultiTouch Test
I've also did the soft reset, clear cache, and since I use a third party Home Launcher reinstalled it. ie. Nova Launcher Prime
Good luck!

Random issues on separate days (SM-935FD)

Hi all,
I have a black S7 Edge International version (Dual Sim version). The phone as a whole has been working great. I have been having certain issues though, they don't happen very often. So I'm not sure if its related to certain apps I have or if it's an issue with the phone.
Each issue happened on a separate day.
First problem: The phone froze when I was editing a photo on Adobe Lightroom. This was the first time I was using the app, so I launched after installing it. I tweaked a photo and noticed the phone lagging. They it froze, and I couldn't do anything on the screen. Nothing worked until I did a hard reset. Afterwards, the problem didn't occur again, although I haven't tried Lightroom since, so maybe I should, to see if the problem is with the app. Does this happen often with lightroom? Or could this be a phone issue?
Second Problem: On another day I had my phone randomly start vibrating, like it was receiving a call. I had just made three calls to my wife, and thought she was calling back. However, there was no call notification, and nothing on the drop down menu. There was also no ringtone. The phone kept vibrating, and wouldn't stop. I pressed the power button and reset, then the problem stopped.
Final problem: Today, I've been using the phone fine. However I was playing angry birds and then pressed the home button, so the game was still on it's memory, and being multitasked. I used the phone again a few times, then I noticed on the bottom that the game launcher circle (was on the bottom of my homescreen), even though the game was not open (still in the multitask window - I assumed) I tried to click the multitask window, and the button lit up, but nothing happened. The multitask window had frozen. Again it required a restart, and now it's working.
Given that I'm having these three issues (none have repeated themselves though), is this just the phone needing an OTA update, early phone bugs, specific 3rd party app issues, or is it a more serious problem?
Should I take the phone to Samsung and ask for a replacement, or should I wait it out?
Would love some advice from people, and would also like to hear if you've had similar problems.
Current firmware I'm on: G935FXXU1APB6
Thanks!
Does anyone have any feedback on this? Thanks!
I have the first problem on my phone.
But I didn't use adobe lightroom
and I've seen many user reported this problem in many different threads. it seen a known issue.
Thanks for that stone... Hopefully it's a bug... Would love to hear if anyone thinks that it requires a replacement... Also, i just found a dead pixel on the top corner of my phone... it's completely black...
Is that grounds for replacing the phone, or is samsung wishy washy about the whole thing?
I have the second problem; sudden vibrations with no reason, no app pending or anything else; I start to think it is associated with the Smart Alarm being activated (in Advanced settings).....
Anyway, really a bug, in fact the Smart Alarm and Smart Stay are known for having made other problems previously, but seems they didn't correct all the bugs.....

If there's a dead pixel I would return it.... There has been alot of people talking about freezing and rebooting... I've experienced too.... Most likely a software issue.... When I got the S6 last year my phone would reboot 3-5 times a day until a software update came out.... The continuous vibration I haven't heard anyone talk about... But if your still in you grace period I would get another phone for the pixels alone... Too nice and new to have to deal with that
Galaxy S7 edge
Hey, I have the same phone with the same firmware. I experienced the freezing right after I opened the camera from the lock-screen, it lasted for a few minutes and then went away. I'm waiting till Sunday to get the OTA and if I don't, I'm just going to update using Odin, considering how the firmware for the SM-G935FD and SM-G935F is the same.
Sounds good, thanks for the advice guys... I went to Samsung, and they said they would replace the phone for the dead pixel... Will take a week to arrive, but I'm just glad it's getting replaced...
I would return it immediately while it is within your return period.

Stock device locking up randomly and won't respond

HI Everyone
I've been having problems with the device within a few hours of getting it. I should have returned it to the store within the first 30 days but due to having all my apps installed and suspecting it was a software issue that would be resolved in a software update, I persisted with it.
The symptoms are that the device randomly locks up and is completely unresponsive and can't be unlocked. The only thing to do is press all four buttons and reboot it. When it locks up, the AOD is visible but the time has stopped. When I call the S7 from another handset, it does nothing and on the other handset I get a network message saying that I'm not available. Sometimes it seems to snap out of after 10 minutes, and other times I can leave it for hours and it doesn't change until I force it to reboot.
I've tried a factory reset and not installing any apps at all, everything stock except adding my Google account and connecting it to Wifi. No customisation, I've not changed the wallpaper, ringtones, nothing. But the issue persists.
Its been back to the store for a signal test due the issue being logged incorrectly as a signal issue. It passed the signal test and has had the latest firmware installed but the problem happened again today. I left the device for over an hour whilst I driving and then forced it to restart.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
