anyone downloading please help
Well that was fun. I had set a couple of substratum themes and forgot to remove them before updating to the new firmware... Just had to reset my phone... My own damn fault...
Software Version: NRD90M.G950USQU2BQK5
Android® Security Patch Level: 2017-11-01
The current software update provides the most up to date Android security patches on your Galaxy S8, along with support for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) when switching to Verizon from select carriers, as well as the addition of Samsung Pay.

I do see that it picks up band 4, but I wasn't sure if there was anything special I had to do to it like on the note 2 to obtain LTE coverage, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
anyone? please.
Just unlocked my AT&T Note 3 too and tried a T-Mobile SIM - no LTE found either. In fact, even HSPA+ is finicky and doesn't want to come on most of the time (or any data for that matter).

Applying "fast" APN worked for me - LTE is now working.

So I've been trying to piece together my options for firmware for the G935FD, to replace my G935T on T-Mobile in the US. There seem to be several fixes to get around the loss of certain services, but does anyone have a definitive answer currently on what firmware can address what?
It sounds like the Czech T-Mo firmware will get you VOLTE, but not sure about EVS (and probably not Samsung Pay?).
There are multiple firmware options that will allow Samsung Pay, it seems, with a lot of people having luck with the version for the United Arab Emirates. But I'm guessing no VOLTE?
I recall seeing where someone claimed to have flashed US T-Mo firmware and was able to keep all services, but I'm not sure how that's possible on the Exynos...
Is there a solution to allow both on T-Mo in the US? Wifi calling at all possible, or is that just a pipe dream? What about this other, recently announced EVS stuff? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
@Rydah805 can comment on Samsung pay (he's not rooted I believe), we're both on the latest build for Orange Spain (G935FXXU1APEK_G935FAMO1APEK_AMO). It also has wifi calling which seems to set up but I haven't managed to place a call on wifi yet...

Yeah, I'm not rooted and as @Remix22 said, on the latest Orange Spain firmware. Unfortunately I don't have my device on hand, I'm getting it swapped due to a gap between the glass and the side metal frame, but WiFi calling is present. I hadn't tested it out, I assumed it was working but it was reported it didn't do anything...? Anyways, I know Singapore is currently testing Samsung Pay but I don't have any clue if that CSC supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling.
I wish Samsung would follow the footsteps of other manufacturers and make one single setup and have it setup based on SIM. (They already do this actually with certain features... like "Identify unsaved numbers.")
---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 PM ----------
IDK if anybody wants to test the latest CSC firmware from Brazil? I know they're also testing Samsung Pay. It has the latest build log: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/72867/G935FXXU1APER_G935FYTO1APER_ZTO/
So is Samsung Pay working well for you on the Spanish firmware? And do you know if you were able to get LTE data while on a phone call?
I have Note 5 and Note 9 and consider sell Note 5 and buy used Note FE for about 420$.
This decision is good in 2019? Maybe keep Note 5 because difference between Note 5 and FE isn't too big.
Thanks in advance.
I love my Note FE but here in the states it has never been reliable on LTE for voice calls or text messages. I run it on 3G/2G to get around that issue. There is a fix with S7 Edge files extracted from the ROM and flashed over to change the country specific code (csc) and enable VoLTE and WiFi calling, but that is no longer available with Pie.
Much love, but I would not buy one today.
All this is without root of course, but I've not been one to root phones the last couple of years.
Exact opposite for me. I use it on AT&T in United States and have no issues with 4g. Yes I am rooted.

Any chance you are using T-Mobile? I am using my Note FE with T-Mobile in the US and have the same problems. I am on Pie and currently rooted, but the issue existed before. I hope that the Note 10 is actually worth upgrading to

I really like this phone. I have an S7 Edge as a hot standby AND an original Pixel XL also just sitting there. This has the best form factor and I dont want to give it up.
As such I've been seriously considering rooting all week. I may pull the trigger to the same ROM you are running (I found the thread) tonight or sometime this weekend. If / once I get it done, I will 'report back' on network performance soon.

Technically I'm not on T-Mobile (I'm on SIMple Mobile) but it is "by T-Mobile" and uses their network. My friend has another Note 7 purchased at the same time in a different area of the country, and is on T-Mobile proper and has the same issues.
On Pie, I am using an app called "4g Fix" from the app store to switch to "WCDMA Preferred" and that solves the phone/text issue with LTE, by disabling LTE. :\
Going to try rooting and running "superfast9" https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...-superfast9-stable-note-7-fe-android-t3921332
Edit: On Oreo, I used to mitigate the issue by loading in the CSC file from my S7 Edge. I tried that on Pie but it doesnt work and won't enable VoLTE.
The best way I found was to Odin back Oreo, if Prenormal exist do the changing date trick in and to activate OEM unlock. Then intall TWRP..root..then flash rom.

Ty for the heads up on stupid PreNormal (so many times I waited a week until I learned about the date trick!) and advice, its much appreciated. I'm inspired and am running a full backup.
Hope you get everything up and running, if you need anything I will help as much as I can[emoji106]

I'm testing a customized version of Superfast9 with the TMO csc (osc, technically) from the S8 built in. So far I have VoLTE and WiFi calling and once I'm sure that "weird LTE telephony intermittent connectivity" truly isn't happening, and the original author has OK'd it, I will share it.
@butchieboy Totally, with VoLTE and WiFi Calling too.
I dont have wife calling..volte yes but no wifi calling. Tried to activate it with shortcut master but didnt work

I've been trying since Saturday but the network doesn't recognize the device, can't get them to whitelist the imei and they're saying my 988U1 is not compatible, it was a Sprint 988U to start
I bought the unlocked version from Samsung, did a Sim swap and everything works fine. You'll have to give Sprint a call, they like to lock IMEIs even after full device payment
Why didn't you just return it? Phone isn't even 14 days old... Carriers will not unlock a device for a couple months usually to "deter" theft.
I had no issues activating on Vz after flashing carrier firmware on my unlocked device. I didn't try it when it was unlocked so can't say on that. Why not flash it to the Vz firmware? There's a thread on it if you search for it.

OP said it was a Sprint 988U from the start, so either he's talking about software or device being from Sprint carrier. Assuming it's Sprint device since many people have had issues pertaining to locked devices from Sprint
If you activated it with sprint, how long would you have to use the device before they allowed you to unlock it,? EE UK usually makes it easy 6-9 money's depending on the handset but I think the Vs with Verizon and sprint is a little more competitive.
Verizon recently released nationwide 5g!! I called Verizon to check to see if the 8pro was compatible. They said yes. They also said an update would be coming. Has anyone on Verizon received a carrier update, or now picking up the 5g signal?

That's good news. I was thinking it's compatible with Verizon's nationwide 5g. I have a couple unlocked phones I'm waiting for updates on. I love this phone so I'll be able to keep it..

I'd imagine the update needs to come from OnePlus. Do you have a Verizon 5g sim card? That's needed as well.
---------- Post added at 02:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 AM ----------
I just looked on Verizon's site. They have a list of phone compatible for Nationwide 5G. 8 pro isn't on the list. I'm not sure if whomever you spoke to gave you the correct info. It also said weeks to a couple months for updates for compatible 5g devices.
I'm on my unlocked note 20 ultra and joined the beta ui 3.0 and now it can connect to Verizon's 5g. I contacted oneplus through Twitter and they said ask Verizon. IDK.. pita
I've learned oneplus needs to release an update which should be coming sometime in November. This update should allow the oneplus 8 pro to utilize Verizon's nationwide 5g.
There's one aspect some of you may not know. Verizon know the 8 series phones are 5G capable . And a new sim doesn't seem to be required. It's all in your plan- you have to have a 5G eligible plan-
You can get access to 50 GB of 5G Nationwide / 4G LTE premium data per month. 5G access requires a 5G-capable device which you already have Plus 720p HD streaming when you activate it in your plan settings. In times of congestion, your data may be temporarily slower than other traffic after exceeding 50 GB/mo/line.
verizon.com/plans/unlimited/
---------- Post added at 12:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:11 PM ----------
Also, so I asked the chat agent to find me a plan closest to mine. At the moment I'm paying $120 incl tax and fees a month for 2 phones w/ unlimited talk and text. This payment is low because all phones are paid off. The new plan with 5G will be another $50 a month. Not worth it. And you have to figure in the next few years after all the phones are 5G that's a another $50 you're stuck paying if you want 5G.

I'm sure it's coming, it's just a matter of when. Unfortunately, I sold my opo 8 pro. My unlocked Samsung note 20 Ultra has access to Verizon's Nationwide 5g ever since I installed Android 11 beta. So unlocked phones can get access to 5g. It just kills me that they take so long for something simple and important. I hope you get the update soon!

No, just root. I miss the phone just didn't want to take the chance with the 5g and sold it while the value is still there. That's why it's frustrating that Verizon or OnePlus can't give you an answer on something they should have info to share. Verizon's just first worried about their branded phones and OnePlus should be proactive and know when or if it's coming. I haven't checked their forum in a while so you might want to look there. It's very very active.
Soooo....seeing as how this thread has been dead for a year, I'm assuming the 8 Pro is still only 4G LTE capable with Verizon and it won't be getting an update to enable access to 5G? If I'm wrong, please let all of us know as we've been waiting!
