I do see that it picks up band 4, but I wasn't sure if there was anything special I had to do to it like on the note 2 to obtain LTE coverage, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
anyone? please.
Just unlocked my AT&T Note 3 too and tried a T-Mobile SIM - no LTE found either. In fact, even HSPA+ is finicky and doesn't want to come on most of the time (or any data for that matter).

Applying "fast" APN worked for me - LTE is now working.

Is anyone here in the UAE and on Etisalat? I haven't seen my N3 connect in 4G once, even though I do have the 4G version and LTE is checked in the options. Is it only me?
Call your carrier and request a 4G enabled micro sim card.

In Abu Dhabi it connects most of the time

I changed my sim card not too long before getting the N3. Haven't had the time, I guess, to realize I had a problem on my old phone. But now, putting that sim back in it, no 4G - although I definitely had 4G on it before.
I guess you're onto something. Thanks for the tip, MohJee.
And thank you for the answer, Hazem.
I've had 4G consistently since getting the S4 when it launched (in April?).
I have it on my N3 as well.
Both in Abu Dhabi & Dubai.
In fact just yesterday I was monitoring speed and it consistently downloaded at 33Mbps.
That's faster than my home connection (30Mbps).

Is it possible for the galaxy s4 to see the spark network? Is the phone capable of seeing those lower band frequency's?

Nope. We don't have all those bands available to us on our phones. Not many do at this point. Only one I'm certain about is the Note 3.

Spark refers to the triband functionality and neither the GS4 nor the Note 3 can take advantage of it. Some phones that can are the LG G2, Nexus 5, S4 Mini, and Galaxy Mega. The GS5 most likely will be triband- or Spark-compatible.
...at least not the current s4....
BUT the spark network/ tri bands will be available on THIS S4: http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-sell-new-tri-band-galaxy-s4-coming-weeks
My contract is up soon and I'm quite tired of Verizon and their exorbitant bills, but I digress. I know the VS980 is unlocked so a T-Mobile SIM would work in the phone.
Has anyone brought their Verizon G2 to T-Mobile? Any problems in doing so?

yup. everything including lte will work
I am using on AT&T but my city doesn't have same LTE bands activated on AT&T as that of available bands on VZW G2.
I am using HSPA and HSPAP with no complaints.
Other minor inconvenience includes all stock apps and services of VZW were still active which I had to disable. But other than that no major complaints.

Actually most VZW phones these days come with GSM bands and given misconception that VZW phones can be used only on their network, you can find some good deals on Craigslist.
On stock rom i was only getting hspa
With cloudy roms i was able to change to gsm/wcdma/lte preferred and got lte
No complaints at all im loving it. Sent from my vs980 on tmobile oudy g3 rom simple kernel. ****s a beast

So basicly place 5 minute phone call with an indian sim card. And you will be fully unlocked.
I've been trying since Saturday but the network doesn't recognize the device, can't get them to whitelist the imei and they're saying my 988U1 is not compatible, it was a Sprint 988U to start
I bought the unlocked version from Samsung, did a Sim swap and everything works fine. You'll have to give Sprint a call, they like to lock IMEIs even after full device payment
Why didn't you just return it? Phone isn't even 14 days old... Carriers will not unlock a device for a couple months usually to "deter" theft.
I had no issues activating on Vz after flashing carrier firmware on my unlocked device. I didn't try it when it was unlocked so can't say on that. Why not flash it to the Vz firmware? There's a thread on it if you search for it.

OP said it was a Sprint 988U from the start, so either he's talking about software or device being from Sprint carrier. Assuming it's Sprint device since many people have had issues pertaining to locked devices from Sprint
If you activated it with sprint, how long would you have to use the device before they allowed you to unlock it,? EE UK usually makes it easy 6-9 money's depending on the handset but I think the Vs with Verizon and sprint is a little more competitive.
