4gb Units? - Android Head-Units

Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere, but I cant seem to find anything..
I've seen quite a few of these units that have 4 gb of Ram. I'm assuming extra Ram is helpful for any lag that these units generally experience?
For example, this unit from XTRONS website
Why isnt 4gb as popular as the 2gb I'm seeing? what am i missing?
Does anyone have one of these units and can they confirm if the extra Ram makes a huge difference?
Thanks,

It's news
there is a topic about news device (dasaita) with 4Go Ram :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...aita-32g-rom-4g-ram-android-8-0-wait-t3702024
I don't know if 4Go ram make a difference,
I Think it's the Soc (PX5(8x Cortex A53)>PX3>RK3188 etc.... )
(there are 8" and 9" with 4GB RAM :

Maybe not a huge difference, but it is noticeable. The 2GB units have occasional audio stutter, which is entirely gone with 4GB (unless this is a coincidence and related to the ROM or MCU). The only remaining audio artifact is an infrequent glitch of a fraction of a second when switching between apps (but I haven't noticed it at all the last couple of days). I have never experienced a "lag" on the 4GB. I don't remember if this was an issue or not on the 2GB. And on the 2GB I tried to update apps while navigating with Google Maps; the navigation crashed and my guess is it ran out of memory. I suppose the 4GB are less popular because they are new and not available in all car specific models.

I see, thanks for the info.. I guess it hasn't taken off yet
Just noticed them showing up for the BMW E46 - looks like they were posted very recently
Does anyone know why Android 7.1 seems to be only offered with the PX3 chips, while the PX5 chips only seem to have Android 6.0 ? What's holding it back?
For example, this listing
- Octa-Core 1.6GMHz CPU, DDR3 4GB RAM, 32 GB ROM for Android 6.0 ;
- Quad Core 1.6GMHZ CPU DDR3 2G RAM +16G ROM for Android 7.1
Why cant the more powerful chip get Android 7.1 ?

mmm really ?
I think it's PX3<T8<PX5
PX5 is Cortex A53 better at same clock than Cortex A7(old) (T8)
PX5 :
8 x Cortex A53 up to 1.5ghz
PX3 :
4 X Cortex A9
T8 :
8 x Cortex A7 (@ 1.6GHz, up to 1.8GHz)
And T8 GPU is old : PowerVR SGX544MP1 GPU (almost old like RK3188 )
whereas the PX5 GPU : PowerVR SGX6110
Antutu benchmark comparison:
PX3:
Overall: 27808

CPU: 10293
RAM: 3216
PX5:
Overall: 39047
3d: 9019
UX: 13397
CPU: 12768
RAM: 3863
antutu benchmark of T8 ? ~22500 ...

T8 - SGX544 = 44,8 Gflops
PX5 - SGX6110 = 38,4 Gflops.
They're both 28nm so there's practically no difference in heating, the T8 is used for tablets too. Also software has some say on performance, https://youtu.be/LWVPuKsdkGE

Ordered one if these and seller said ships with 6.0, will send 8.0 when a little bug is fixed.
Received it today and appears it actually is Android 8.0 Oreo. I will post if I discover anything interesting about it.

Please post your impressions. My N7 setup is really slowing down and this unit looks promising on paper!

Thanks for the heads up mum1989!
Ordered the coika 7 " universal and I'm very happy with it. I too was told it was going to come with android 6.0 but it arrived with android 8.0 and with the interface shown. I can also confirm that EazyConnection and mirror link worked on both usb and wifi with a Note 8. Downloading a few apps and will get more into it later in the week.

Keep us posted! I am interesting in swapping out my Joying for one of those also.

Any chance you could review the unit? Would like to hear your thoughts before pulling the trigger.

And it's an MTCE_GS
And it's a lot, lot faster than my crap C200 (5.1) (waze, keyboard run fast, no lag)
I will review a little in few days

Those are NOT Android 8. The UI is a dead and instant giveaway. Android 8 has a ton of new CAR stuff in it, and it looks RADICALLY different than anything earlier.

I just ordered the xtrons te706pl which shows px5 with 4gb ram and android 8.0. I got it off Amazon for $269.99 with free shipping. I was going to go with joying as it's seems to be the most popular company but 4gb vs 2gb is just to good to pass up. I have 2 tablets with the same Cpu, one has 2gb and the other is a 4gb. The 4gb is so much faster and more stable. 4gb just gives the tablet an easier time it seems.

Seeking Advice - PX3 VS PX5 and Android 8

I am in search of replacing my current head unit (in my Mercedes w164) with an android one but I am totally confused with all those chinese makers thus i would like some advice.
I am focusing on the below and based on my reading in the forum the android 7 with PX5 have issues with BT microphone. Did anyone hear about Android 8 and PX5 with 4GB memory? I wasn't able to find enough info.
Dicola (probably a retailer)
Android 8.0 - Octa Core PX5 CPU + DDR3 4GB Flash + 32GB Memory + 1024*600 HD Screen

ActeryX (probably a retailer)
ANDROID 7.1.2 - Quad Core PX3 + 2GB + 32GB Memory + 1024*600 HD Screen

Need an advice with processor selection.

Hi, last year i have bought HU with following specification:
SYSTEM (Android 6.0.1) 1GB/16GB
Allwinner QUAD-CORE T3 p3,
Mali-400MP2 .
Unfortunatelly it turns out horribly slow - I have rooted it and tried to speed it up, but without success.
Now I'm considering to buy another one (cheap), I need HU to normal use (google maps + music app + radar warning application) .
Here are my selections:
Android 8.1 1GB/16GB
quad-core T3 K2001M
GPU: Mali-600MP4
Android 8.1 1GB/16GB
quad-core MT8227L "1.3-1.5"
GPU: Mali-600MP4
Most units which I'm interested have these two processors some have also 2GB RAM. Which is better selection? Maybe i should choose someting with 8-core or 2GB ram?
Regards.
The processor is not the only thing that affects the speed, the amount of RAM matters too. Everything you listed has a gig of RAM, that is just too low for today's Android with all the services running in the background. Look for something with at least 2 GB, 4 would be better. The processors you're looking at are no powerhouses either. First they're all 32 bit and very obsolete. Also Allwinner is barely a decent processor for the money. Something from Rockchip or Intel would cost a bit more but you'd get more enjoyment out of it. If you have to keep it cheap maybe a PX30 with at least 2 GB RAM would be a good choice.

The man is completely right. Nothing with 1GB will perform.
2GB is enough. 4 GB is better.
I agree that 1GB is not enough for todays Android, but this is still car device, not phone. I don't really want to spend lot of money . How about this ?
OS: Android 8.1 Go 1GB/16GB
CPU: Intel 8-core 1.872GHz Intel IA processor
GPU: with Mali-T820 8-core GPU
OS: Android 8.1 2GB/32GB (i think they will be able to install GO version too.)
CPU: High quality MT8227L Quad-core 1.3-1.5 GHz Cortex-A7 processor
GPU: with Mali-600MP4 Quad-core GPU
both fit to my limit 150 $ .

a bit stubborn? The first is 1GB. If 2 persons advise to go for at least 2GB: what more advise do you need? If you had searched this forum in advance, you would have seen that everybody advises against 1 GB.
choose and suffer, or choose and enjoy.
That's a really low budget. A $150 will buy you a nice Pioneer or Kenwood traditional stereo or if you want more features get a cheapie Dual or other low end brand. At any rate you will enjoy your choice better then. Those Chinese Android radios have always been a bit of a kludge. It's only in the last couple years that they've been getting almost decent and that's from having a proper amount of RAM and better processors. The one thing that hasn't improved is build quality, they work ok but there's no telling for how long. OTH they're a lot of fun if you can afford it.
The second option you listed is definitely low end but might work good enough. Like Surfer63 said do your research! Don't expect someone else to tell you what to buy. For that HU you can start here. On that first page there's a link to 4PDA too.
Believe me 150$ for car radio is quite a lot in my country To be honest initially I thought 100$ will be enough for my modest needs... I know 4pda I have studied most topics regarding Allwinner and partially this mentioned above . I have some experience with such devices (with 1) I could try to flash it but I have no time for that. In the mean time I have found that there are HU which are fitted to car steering panel better than universal one so decided to buy another. I did not expect that someone tell me what should I buy, however all yours remarks are very valuable for me. Ok I'll read a bit more and buy something, and maybe give some feedback.

Joying Intel octacore 1.8ghz are little slow, can it be tuned up?

Hey I bought my first Android head unit for 2 month ago a Joying 10.1" IPS 1280*720 Android 8.1 4GB ram Intel octa core 1.8ghz SC9853i, I´m very happy for this headunit it works really great but I have some issues that annoy me a lot.
The speed of the android system on the joying unit is slow compared to my old Asus Nexus 7 2013 tablet, I had some greater expectation of performance because of the Intel octa core CPU 1.8 ghz, but maybe I have misunderstood something
Do any of you know if you can somehow tune up the reaction speed, the device feels slow compared to my old tablet ... Could I install another version of android that might make better use of the hardware?
Best regards Stig
I am having the same issue. Also, I am unable to run new TomTom Go navigation on the Joying radio.

Xtrons Double DIN | Android 9.0 | Hexa Core | 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM | TQ109P
Great upgrade from my Xtrons TE103AP.
Has dvd player above the physical buttons which are located at the bottom of the unit. Display slides down to cover buttons if you want it too and also tilts forward or back depending on how you like it.

Which one is better? 8227L vs allwinner sun8iw11p1

Looking to get an android head unit. Visited a couple of local shops and ran CPU-Z on the android units. They're both same price (quite cheap) but I'm not sure about underlying hardware quality and future update possibilities/mods?
First: 8227L (ac8227l), Android 8.1 Go, Cortex A7-1.12 Ghz (quad), 1 GB Ram, 12 GB Rom, 5 band Equalizer
Second: AllWinner A23 sun8iw11p1, Android 9, Cortex A7-1.6 Ghz (quad), 1GB Ram, 12 GB Rom, full-band Equalizer
Apparently second one is better, however, I checked online and allwinner a23 is quite old hardware (from 4-5 years ago), but it is faster. Also, its running Android 9 but not the "Go" version, so it might be more taxing on the memory. I like everything about second, except that the Home screen has icons with white rectangle background so there is a lot of white on the screen and I fear it will be too bright to use at night.
First one has slower cpu and android 8.1 go, however, a lot of the posts I see on this forum are related to 8227L.
Which one should I go for? Is one better than the other in audio quality?
