Hello. I have recently acquired an HD2 that I am currently dual booting with WM6.5 and AmericanAndroid from my SD, and I absolutely love it. The question I have is this...I also have a Samsung Vibrant that I also like very well, with the Samsung Media Hub app installed on it. I have several movies that I have purchased for that app, and was wondering if it would be possible for me to install that apk onto my HD2 Android ROM. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or if there are any obvious complications I should avoid. Thanks in advance for any input.

Speed
Can you guys tell me how is the speed on the Hd2 running android compared to the vibrant? I'm planning on buying an hd2 and use android on it until wp7 gets better (in terms of features), but I'm concerned that it will be a lot slower than native android devices. I know that the vibrant uses a different soc, but if the hd2 is just a tiny bit slower or something like that, then I feel I should go for it.
Sorry for offtopic.
I can only say from my limited experience with my hd2, but lots of experience with my vibrant. The 2.3.2 rom is butter smooth and have had very few problems. As far as speed, it is at least equal to my Vibrant, if not a bit snappier. I am only going by feel as I do not put too much stock in quadrant scores. In my opinion being able to dual boot winmo also, makes this superior, at least until they end up with a stable 2.3 port to the Vibrant.
Hope this helped.

I think quadrant is useless anyway.Thank you very much for your answer!

I had a vibrant and a hd2 and i sold the vibrant last month. For me, android on hd2 is near perfect. I bet the HTC guy that decided to put Win 6.5 on the hd2 was drunk at that time.

Doesn't work. it installs and runs with no force closes but nothing within media hub loads. Clicking movie store or tv store results in a box that says "loading" but then nothing happens

Hey, thanks for the effort. No big deal. So far that's the only drawback i've found to this setup, if you could call it that. I'm really loving this phone. I don't see my Vibrant getting too much use in the future except for flashing new builds just to see how they are.
So, at the moment I have a Desire running CM7, and I LOVE it, I simply can't ask for more. However, upgrade day arrived today and I called Orange and ordered an S2. Read a few reviews of it beforehand and the specs just blow me away.
Any one have any useful advice from going to a Desire to a Galaxy?
The SGS does not have Sense do not go looking for it .

FIRST THING when you receive your beast, flash 2.3.4 gingerbread. Excellent battery life and performance.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I'd disagree when I flashed to 2.3.4 I could almost see the battery go down as I used it and instantly flashed back to 2.3.3
However a lot of people are getting better battery life so maybe you might be lucky but personally speaking stick to stock first see how you get on and then flash a new rom.
The official 2.3.4 should be out this month
2.3.4 is not a Samsung release only a leaked test rom .
Personally i would learn before flashing and be able to recover to stock/original firmware for warranty purposes .

Went from a Desire to the SGS2 and haven't looked back since. I think it's a great move. In contrast to what you read above, I'd recommend to stay stock for a while. Learn a little about touchwiz. TW is just as smooth, maybe even smoother, than CM7 on the Desire, believe me. There is really no advice to give, they are both great devices, but you will love the SGS2.
Upgrade
Upgrade to a custom rom, they are muuuch better, keeping in mind the warranty problems and such. I´m running a custom 2.3.4 and it´s perfect.
How about the issue on gaming? Does 2.3.4 got better game support?
Is rooting the only way to remove the Orange apps?
How do I go about rooting with a Mac...

I was a flash addict on sgs, unfortunately there is no need to root+/- flash on this device and its annoying me a lot
At the moment I'm working and sweating with a LG P970 Optimus Black and I'm getting tired of the working/internet speed. So I looked around and I decided to buy a HD2. It looks good and on E-Bay its not very expensive. Is the HD2 really better/faster than the P970?
I've flashed Cyanogenmod 7.1 SelfKANG on the P970 ( Android 2.3.7 ) and I'm thinking of flashing the same / similar Cyanogenmod Version on the HD2. Is this faster on the HD2 ?
Fast means for me that the keyboard is reacting quickly to my "typing-speed" ( ~8 letters á second ) and that images are "flowing" on the display. Another thing is the "surfing-speed"; even if I'm surfing with Wireless LAN the sites are loading incredible slowly and the phone stucks every time if it loads a site that is a little more complex. Zooming in and out is not possible without stucking...
So, is the HD2 better than the P970 Optimus Black?
BTW. Sorry for my english
I have never owned an LG phone but my HD2 is 2years old now and running miui it is incredibly quick the dev support is endless and its the best HTC I have owned for build quality. So imo yes I would buy one.

YES...
anyone on xda can tell u just how good and versatile a device it is... if u have a problem with it im willing to bet good money that there is already a fix to solve it...
plus hd2 gets every port of android tweaked for it... hmmm feel iv said too much... shouldda stopped at YES...
but...
Mm ok... but there is one thing that gives me a bad feeling - some people reporting that they bricked their HD2 and it wont even turn on so they had to send it to a JTag repair... with ( for my budget ) high costs :/
This is the advantage of the P970 I think - the phone is in a Bootloop; repaired in 5 minutes, the phone wont even boot ( didn't show the bootanimation ); repaired in 10 minutes... and there are few more issues that can be fixed without any costs or else ( except hardware damage )
I can't find anything for "unbricking" a HD2 yet - only that JTag method... no SmartFlash or R&D Test Tool like for the P970...
I would like to flash Android , like I said , and this is not possible without flashing/deleting/replacing the Bootloader :/ ... so ... is it "easy" to brick the HD2 ?
I always booted via SD which in my case was just updating the radio and installing HSPL. I have booted a massive amount of roms this way and had no issue. Plus if you have HSPL you can boot from a gold card I believe!?! But its been a while!!

Depends on what you boot if its ASOP It boots quicker than sense. I've found ASOP runs alot quicker than sense as well.

Bought my HD2 in July and... Well... it’s incredible! The community here behind the phone and the amount of dedicated developers is phenomenal! The fact that it can run multiple OS's just puts the icing on the cake! defiantly buy one
I was about to open exact the same thread, "should I buy a HD2?"
If I buy a new one it's still quite expensive, but as I can see there is massiv development going on. My current device is a Motorola Defy and it seems to be great to have an unlocked bootloader on the HTC HD2
Are you still able to use the hardware-buttons for answering/rejecting a call? On MIUI/CM and Windows Phone 7?
I guess multibooting Windows7 and MIUI would be my choice.
edit: also, is batterylife ok on those custom roms? somewhat like one day would be enough.

I am using MIUI (this one, stable version) and:
- yes, the hardware buttons work great both for anwering/rejecting calls and for activacting the device from sleep (all of them!)
- battery life is decent (with moderate use you can make 2 full days... but the huge screen drains a lot)... If you want a comparison, better than Mileston and worse than Nexus S.

Hi,
First of all... there are here loads of threads with subject "s4 vs one'' and similar, so is no need of another one.
HTC One has problems and bugs also, you can check their threads and you will see. Now its really up to you what you want/need. If you don't care so much for those loudspeakers i don't see any other reason in choosing the One.
I would choose any s4 over the One, because of the non removable battery, no microsd slot and that 4 UltraPixel camera, which i think is a joke.
S4 with the new updates fixed most of the bugs, and will continue to get fixed with every update.
This is my personal opinion.
You are best off comparing the S4 and the ONE in a shop and then make your mind up, nobody can tell you what is best for YOU!
EDIT : One biggie, it take`s 4hr+ to fully charge the HTC One and only 1hr30m to charge the S4
Have a look at the HTC One forum and see what the problems are.

If you charge a li-ion battery too fast you can make it heat up and reduce it`s life, it is virtually impossible to replace the HTC One`s battery, apart from returning it to HTC, this must be the reason for the super slow charge rate.
Still i love my HTC One, i wish i had an S4 as well, but i dont have the money

Personally i like the S4's TW. So i don't really customize it too much.
On the other hand, there are mods for i9500 and there will always be, thats not a problem.
There aren't too many custom ROMS, and will be more difficult to get a stock Android ROM running properly on the 9500 because Samsung doesn't release the documentation for Exynos.
I'm thinkin that is no really need for custom ROMS... if you want, you can customize it yourself, you root it, you remove Samsung's bloatware, you change the launcher, you add mods and tweaks to your own stock ROM.. so that's what i think.
Like someone else said here, you can go to a shop and play with both phones.
Have a look on youtube, lots of video comparing the Samsung S4 and HTC One

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I've used both and really it all depends if you like an AMAZING camera and a ton of features (SGS4) VS a ok camera (besides low light) and not to many features but Ultra smooth UI with no lag whatsoever (HTC One). If you use the internal speakers a lot GET the HTC One. Those dual stereo speakers are just pure amazingness. If you want battery life go with the S4. And yes the HTC One takes long to charge. There are some bugs with the S4 though. People say it never lags but in all honesty, the S4 compared to the HTC One is very laggy. The HTC One has iPhone smoothness compared to the S4. All in all they are both amazing phones, and if I could I would have both i would. I stuck with the S4 mainly for the camera and the better battery life. But since you have the Exynos version I'm not sure how good the batter is.

Unfortunately, there is no custom rom for this device. I had this device for 2 years now, finally switching one! This phone was a disappointment for me, nothing worked out to be well. And since this is a MTK device we also rarely will get any custom rom.

I at first bought this phone for spec too. But now, the camera takes too long to shoot, takes forever to save a photo as well. Upon recording, my rear camera lags in the middle of recording, that being said its also because my phone itself lags a ton that's why I felt the need to change my phone this year; it's not doing so well
