is the chipset and the kernel versions are related to each other ?
I have observed that phones using Snapdragon 617 chipset are you using the kernel version of 3.10 checked with Moto G4 Plus and on other phones like nubia , BlackBerry dtek, etc
while phones using Snapdragon 430 chipset are using kernel version 3.18.. for ex redmi 4, etc
so my question is kernel versions like 4.4 and other newer versions can't be developed by manufacturer or what? for Snapdragon 617 chipset

They are not at all related to each other. Even in high ended smartphone you will notice 3.18 or above. As it is the minimum requirement for oreo build to function.
They are updated by oems and are maintain by company and are updated via ota.
As lenovo owned Motorola has officially announced oreo for moto g4 plus. As a pain in **s they have to update kernel first(which takes hell amount of time) n then have to push oreo update.
I think i was clear here.[emoji6]

If you're referring to Moto, not a chance. It's too much work to rework the kernel to a such a new version. I suspect that is the same reason there's a much higher delay around with phones that release with Oreo (very few at this time, even the OP5T comes with Nougat).

Has anyone noticed that google started working with the 3.10 mainline kernel?
Do you guys believe that we may get lucky and get android 4.4 with all the performance fixes of 3.10 or even 3.11?
Kernel(Google Source)
I hope so *crossing fingers*
Sorry but no. Couple reasons I know this: #1: as of two months ago, the nexus 5 was still using 3.4, so I doubt they'd change this late in development meaning the N4 wouldn't either. Also, Qualcomm got rid of support for 8960 and 8064 devices and has not updated their arch specific drivers. I highly doubt that Google would update a Qualcomm chipset that is deprecated. That would be a lot of work for them and the SOC manufacturer creates the majority of the kernel. I am working on 3.10 myself, but don't expect it from Google and Qualcomm for awhile. Qualcomm is only targeting APQ8084, MSM8974, MSM8610, and MSM8226 in 3.10. They explicitly removed support for other chipsets such as our 8064.

Could this have been posted with the unofficial CyanogenMod 14 or other Nougat roms?
ohhh yes i read many news that it is being tested for Nougat !!!!!! If LG actually did this... it is going to take the update support carpet from Google who dumped its old devices and will make my next phone be LG !
And Sprint's variant will still be stuck on Lollipop
I'm pretty sure that's BS and will come out as no... Im sure they can't update Nougat itself has dropped support for our chipset... Z3 had working betas for the Nougat but they had to stop Nougat to comply with Google and stopped supporting Z3

Xing my fingers!
guys, the SD801 in the G3 is not supported by Qualcom anymore and they refused to release a Vulcan graphic driver.
Becvause of this, no phones with this chipset will be allowed by Google to officially support Nougat.

allowed by google? or qualcomm ? I know it is qualcomm problem.
It is probably some unofficial android 7 based on cm...
Not really, the problem is the fact the phone must have vlukan support for android 7 certification, but Qualcomm / Google haven't make the necessary to run vulkan on older snapdragon, so no vulkan, no certification for android 7, so no official update unless LG remidy the problem
Guys is it possible for cm 14 official?
Fingers crossed ?

CM14 is already being tested. So, yes, CM 14 official it's on his way
It says here that only devices with Snapdragon 800/801 will not be supported
http://www.androidauthority.com/android-7-0-snapdragon-800-801-712930/
However, there's another variant of LG G3 with a higher chip version (LG G3 Cat6 LTE) with Snapdragon 805 chip.
So no more official support from google? it doesnt matter anyways since devs will make ROMs based on Android 7 here. Sadly not all performance-related features will support it due to the chipset.
Still glad they are testing it out

could be possible to be retail lg
http://www.xda-developers.com/android-7-0-compatibility-document-released-plenty-of-changes-in-tow/
you dont need vulcan api so qualcom dont need to release new drivers
Geekbench only saves bench from orginal rom no any custom :]
I hope LG will release this room soon
We all know that the Moto G4 Play, has a 64bit processor, which currently runs the system in 32bit mode. Will the device have enough power to run Android Nougat (or Marshmallow) in 64bit? Would you gain more performance? I think it has enough RAM.
Well all Moto products have this issue. It can only be fixed by Moto devs(though i read that some xda devs were able to do so but thats not official and some bugs are still there.) Moto has becoming quite disappointing since they released the update for N in Jan of 2018, after 1 and half year of N, and that to only brazil and some other countries. Lol, i dont know what are they trying to achieve with this.

I think if the devs who developed the 64-bit version for g4 (Athene) try, they may be able to create a stable kernel and ROM, but there are few devs for harpia
Does anybody tried this ??

i dont think ...
It seems a fake.
They wrote about XDA-DEVELOPER forum, but we are here and there is nothing.
I try to download the files, but it ask me money for the download.
fake,
Android 7 Nougat need a SoC compatible with Vulkan 1.0 API ... And the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 of the yotaphone is too old to have this support ... so ... Nougat probably never come on yotaphone 2 .... :'(

Nougat has been ported on various purportedly unsupported devices, Legacy OS is a good example of such endeavours. Even Sony released an extensively functional iteration of Nougat for Xperia Z3 series.
The issues are rather about Google and its policies about Android. An official release of Nougat needs the hardware to pass Android Compatibility Definition Document (CDD) and Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) and mandates hardware-backed full-disk encryption even at file level. Ignoring these prerequisites will definitely invite legal issues if not performance issues to begin with.
I think that A 7.0 isn't as needed as more optimized A 6.0.1 for example EPD screen and battery life as 4.4 and 5.0 have etc.
Nobody dares to test it?

Porting an unsupported OS requires extensive dev support, which is withering away owing to the unpopular status of the device and its age.

No, with every release of new Android version begins the proliferation of spam sites that claim to offer the latest version of the OS for virtually any device. These sites usually have the name of the OS in its address. They're nothing more than click-baits. If there was such a thing for Yotaphone, it would be either on 4PDA or XDA or any other reputed site.
It's a fake site, don't try!
Greetings to all,
I saw this phone on a sale for about 175$ and I have to say, for the hardware (snapdragon 821, 64gb, 4b of ram) I think it is a very good price, but I´m doing some reading and this phone comes with android 6 and vulkan support comes with Nougat.
I would like to know is there´s a custom rom for this phone than enables opengl 3.2 and vulkan support.
Also I saw some threads like this one :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...eno-vulkan-drivers-snapdragon-t3555141/page20
In that thread some people modified the adreno drivers so that they can be installed on any phone with a snapdragon 820/21 chipset and get vulkan support, this method could work on this phone?
and lastly, the phone I saw was the usa edition, what is the last official rom for that model?, and the bootloader can be unlocked?
Thanks in advance for the help.

You will NOT get better hardware for the price. The only concern I would have is getting it replaced if it ever breaks within the warranty period. LeEco is under hard times right now. However, for the price I would not be concerned.
The bootloader on the USA version is super easy to unlock. This will not be a problem.
Custom ROMS. There are several really good ones using Nougat. They are rock solid and have great performance. AICP and Omni are two of the more popular ones. OREO is also in the works for the phone, so expect a ROM with that OS in the future.
Last official version of stock OS on USA model is 21s, but you can install any of the other stock ROMS from international versions of the phone.
There are multiple rock solid Nougat ROMS which means you will get Vulkan support.
Buy the phone!
Could you provide a link for $175?
Well, I took the plunge and recently received the phone in my country, After using it a few days I got to say that I´m in love with it.
I installed lineage on it and after that I installed the blackscreen kernel to overclock the phone to 2.4 ghz and tweak the performance a little, indeed with the Lineage rom open gl 3.2 and vulkan becomes avalaible and the performance of the phone
it´s like night and day compared to the stock kernel that came with it.
For the price I paid to get this kind of hardware it´s definitly a bargain, I heartily recommend this phone but only to the people that are willing to flash a custom rom on it, because leaving this phone in the stock kernel is a crime to the 821 snapdragon that comes with it.
