I compared to shots in night condition and pics with lenovo app are more sharpen. More iso (1600). And more options in manual Mode.
(soz for mi english)
I test it tomorrow in light condition
Máx resolution is 13 mp.
I think this app have more agresive jpg postprocessing like Samsung.
And ISO settings have no effect... Looks like a pretty nice app, unfortunately it only works partially on the Z1

even if it says 13 mp, it shoots 20.7 mp actually. check resolution you will understand.
also it takes amazing photos when compared to stock app. thank you.
Yes 13 mp mode really shots 21MP.
Pics taked in 8mp normal and Wide are more sharp and less satured than Sony stock. I preffer bit dark than burned shots.
Yes many options dont work but its better for "point and shot" moments.
I hope Sony can do better 257 fw its only a little step.

Use 3.1.2 from first message.
It looks like Camera 2.0 is starting to roll out in the What's New app. I had to forcibly refresh mine from the menu to get it to show up. It's now the same UI that we saw in the IFA videos.
Initial impressions:
- It's noticeably faster to load up on a cold boot
- It's loads even faster after the first load
- With the phone off, I can press the camera shutter button and load the app in 1 second
- The UI is more responsive now
- Quality seems a tad bit better in low light but I'll have to take more photos to confirm

I've got it too, so far its fast than before, nice to have a changed UI, will need to take more snaps to confirm on the quality of pics.
Hmm, I had it show up, download and install. Opened the camera and it was the same. Checked the app and it still says 1.0 what the?
Solutions anyone?
You really have to open whatsnew several time to get this to work, but it suddenly updated and boom, xperiance is alot better than before! Nice update!

Okay found it under what's new, seems to be taking forever to install?
For me the camera is slow like before
Enviado desde mi E5823 mediante Tapatalk
Just downloaded and startup time seems blazingly fast compared to the old app and the one on the Z3c. That was from a cold start and using it after I'd been browsing for a few minutes. Will see how it fares across a whole day...
All sorted, love the new UI. My camera launches quick, about half to 1 second from cold and instantly after closing and relaunching.
How do you launch the camera? With button or with icon camera?

Much faster in both cases. With button takes like 1-1.5 seconds. With icon, takes <1 second
Just had a morning walk with my toddler and have been snapping shots as well as checking email, etc.
The camera is much faster - this is the phone I was hoping for!!
I rebooted the phone and open the camera have the same delay that previous versions

That's really odd - how fast is the camera on the second start?
Maybe some other process is slowing the camera down. I disabled the "Photo Analyzer Service" as other XDA users had said it cause camera performance issues on earlier Z phones. The only thing I can suggest is that you try that if you haven't already.
In the second start is faster. Disabling photo analyzer don't fix the problem

I see huge improvement to previous Camera app. Number of details increased and when zooming in pictures does not loose on quality
Yes the new camera app is much faster. But i was hopping for a better manual mode too, like raw support. We'll see, maybe with the marshmallow update.
Like shutter speed control, with it the camera would be totaly perfect.
What is better? the camera app from xiaomi or google? Has the camera app anything to do with video stabilization? If yes it will be better on Google Camera?
P.S: If someone can give me samples(images, videos) from both apps I will be happy

I posted here one simple example of the difference in night light: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74176704&postcount=34
In daylight Google camera is marginally better, and very consistent in good shots, the stock camera can sometimes loose focus.
I haven't yet had chance to compare videos, but I think the google camera will also give betters results, as the stock camera has issues in focusing in low light.

Search here in xda for google camera port, there are many many versions, so you must play with it. And root and enabling camera 2 api is a must for the apk to work.

Oh bummer... don't want to root Guess i'll leave it then...
tempted to root to install the GCam HDR+ but hesitant to do the tedious work in unlocking bootloader - fastboot - rooting
having the new phone for daily use is awesome, the only downside is the quality of low light pictures.. it's awful :fingers-crossed: my late mi4i takes low light with much better results..
oooh I guess that's why google pixle costs so much more
I recommend to root it. The picture quality is now stunning! Once unlocked and rooted, it is easy to relock and unroot since you know the steps

Hello Nitro, thanks for your example.
Did you use HDR Mode on Stock Camera or did you work on focus/exposition time?
This because I am getting good photos with Stock camera in low light; I cannot still compare with Google Camera because my device is not rooted (I will root, maybe, after Oreo update).

On good lightning they are similar (stock has a bit more noise), but when the conditions are not so ideal like on my examples above difference is bigger.

Anyone tested out any gcam ports?
I've just tried one (from the Mi 8 xda forums link below, via telegram) and initial tests show photos and night sight works! Not tested it thoroughly yet though, such as video etc
It's this one:

Update: seems most things work other than portrait mode, just crashes
Hi cd993,
what for a miui version runs your Mi9 out of the box? is it on stable channel? Is camera api2 enabled as default in miui9 stable yet?
can you please test if HDR+ is working and can you confirm the port uses the primary (48mpix) lens for photos or does it use another from the three lenses?
I hope i get my Mi9 tomorrow, then i'll do a big photo comparison between Mi9 camera vs. my Mate 20 pro and my grilfriends Mi8 (with google port).
Can't wait to unlock the phone and hope a pixel experience port will arrive soon
Thanks

Hey,
OK see attached my miui version.
HDR+ appears to work, it takes that little bit longer to process, though not tested thoroughly. The photo was 12mp so presumably just the standard lens
Thanks fotr the info.
Its the stable channel version, lets look how the beta version is ... after 300hours ...
Can you test the camera setup again? 12mpix can be correct even if its shoot with the primary 48mpix sensor because the sensor uses "pixel binning", these combines four to one pixel to increase sharphness and lightning. Maybe the pixelbinning were just applied in the sensor itself. Its easy to test which lense the port uses. open the google cam port and cover the lenses with a finger, if you look at the viewfinder. when you cover the lens at the top and the "viewfinder is covered" then the primary lens (48mpix) sensor is used.
Thanks

I've done a comparison between Mi8 and P20pro last year but Mi8 was shooting without Google Cam port, because the port wasnt availible at this time.

I made a comparison between Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/ecGsAyjPUKVQ7adX9
I'll gradually add more photos.
See the watermark to differentiate the phones.
Images without watermark were captured with the Google Pixel Port (in the dark with Nightsight)
Images were captured via point and shoot, both "AI" Features are enabled. Google Pixel with HDR+
Can somebody link a scam that works directly with the mi9? Is it possible to take photos in 16/9? 12 mo lens I think...

I think not yet since most ports are from phones with dual cam only with telephoto. Hoping someone will port a build specifically for mi 9.
Found a version where portrait works.
GCam_6.1.021_N7P_test2.3.apk
Motion photo also works, theres also a toggle to always show night mode for easy access which I think is really good.

Hi everyone, I have a problem and I would like to share it with you because I think it is a very serious software or design flaw and it may be that this could happen to some of you.
This is the second device with the problem, I returned the first one to Amazon and I have unsealed this right now
I have realized that recording video at any resolution, when I zoom at maximum, I focus on an object and when I view the video the object is displaced, I don't know if you understand me.
It is as if the camera that shows me the image on the screen is not the same as the one that records the video, it is the displaced objects and I am testing it with the second oneplus that Amazon has sent me and the same thing happens to both, so I think this can happen to more devices
When it is most noticeable is with the maximum zoom but if you look it always happens but obviously it is clearer with zoom
This happens to me in any resolution at 60fps
In this Youtube link I show the problem, the video is in 4k resolution 60fps but it happens in any resolution 60fps
In the video you can see perfectly how the white letters are up during the recording and when I play the video they are seen in the center and that is not normal. The other day I recorded a helicopter flying and when I played the video the helicopter was not seen
The phone is just unsealed and is the second in 1 month and a half.
It is European version
I would really appreciate if anyone can test what I have commented to see if I am not the only one.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English

When you zoom you're changing lenses. There is a handoff which occurs..leave the camera on one of the stock zoom states there are 3 of them.
They should all work afaik, perhaps not the most zoomed out one, but the other two should be fine..

I personally think that if a device has certain characteristics, they should work correctly, it's like buying a car with 6 gears and only being able to use 5 because the sixth doesn't work well.
I like the device a lot but I can't live having paid more than € 1000 knowing that it has this fault because for me it is a fault
I have tried other devices with 4 cameras and that does not happen to them, I have tried to record a car from 50 meters away with the zoom to maximum and I have not been able, you can see the video in the Youtube link that I have put

Let's see if we can set up a test whereby we can isolate it indeed it is an issue or not.
Has to be specific though and replicatable.

I have already spoken with Amazon and they have told me that they are going to check it because it may be that there is a defective batch. I will inform about how this strange story is developing.
It is really something very strange and doing more tests I have verified that it is not only with the maximum zoom, if I press the button zoom X3 or any zoom level it also happens.
I lean out of my window and record a car at less than 50 meters and while I make the recording I can see it on the screen but when I see the video the car does not appear, it is as if the lens that shows me the image on the screen while I am recording it is not the same lens that records the video.
very strange Thank you for answering

Ah ye that's not right, I think the alignment of the lens, it has to be..
I can confirm I do not have this said issue. Definitely not and Amazon or OnePlus must take responsibility for that, it's a factory defect, perhaps their standard testing process doesn't cover zooming in detail.
So you say that if you capture something onscreen whilst zooming in and is present in the preview, it will not be present in the playback?
If so then I would query the lens, this isn't something a software fix could change. In no way.

Exactly, what appears while you are recording then does not appear in the video. It is very curious and seems to be related to what you have said about the alignment of the lenses.
It is the second oneplus 8 pro that Amazon sends me and in both there is the same problem that is why they have told me that they will notify it in case there is an error in a series of devices
Another curious fact is that with the new Gcam which uses 3 lenses of the oneplus 8 pro this problem does not occur and the truth is that it gives good results

? Nah the gcam only uses a small percentage of the zoom capabilities.
I'd say that's why. Zoom and take a pic on both, you'll see what I mean

You are right, Gcam has less zoom than the stock camera but as I said before, the problem occurs at any zoom level although it is obviously more visible as the zoom increases.
That is what makes me think that it may be a software problem because I have done a test by putting the Gcam and the stock camera at the same zoom level more or less and with the Gcam I get the image correctly and with the stock the problem occurs
Another thing that makes me think that it is a software problem is that it only occurs in any resolution using 60fps, if I use 30fps it does not happen so it cannot be a design problem or that the lenses are incorrectly positioned

hi, there! new to the forum as i got my op8pro couple of weeks ago. i can confirm the issue, it is strange that only appears at 60fps, and only when zoom is used. in my case at least looks like the video is being cropped...like u said, at rhe time of the recording i can see the "whole picture' on the screen, but then when u play the video it looks to me as it was being cropped from the original video and only showed a portion of the "whole picture". i think it's probably smth to do with how the software is processing the video when zoom is used at 60fps.. don't thing is hardware or has something to do with the positioning of the lenses..
basicly smth like that

Or my god I thought that I was the only one to whom this happens, if you look at YouTube videos you can see perfectly what I am talking about.
Anyway, it happens to me in any resolution at 60fps and using any zoom but obviously it is appreciated more the more zoom I apply. One day I recorded a helicopter with the zoom to the maximum and when I wanted to see the video it did not appear on the screen during the entire recording ,the helicopter was advancing which means that if what I am recording is in motion the problem is accentuated.
And from what I have been able to see this only happens to some devices because with several people with whom I have spoken in different forums they comment that it does not happen to them or at least they say that
