I've wanted a smartwatch for a while and decided to try the No.1 S9. The most important thing was the notifications.
As advertised, it does push notifications but we only see the date/time along with the sender's name. There's no way to see the notification's text? What's the point if I need to go pick up my phone to read the text?
Am I missing something?
I read that people had issues since Nougat. I took my Samsung S Tab that runs Marshmallow and sent myself a notification. Indeed, the notification appeared will full text.
Apparently Google changed something in the way notifications are delivered. Perhaps this has something to do with it. Unfortunate.
Someone at work mentioned LineageOS. If Nougat is the problem about notifications on my watch, can Lineage be the solution? Is Lineage sending the notifications the same was Nougat does (bundled)?
I don't want to risk bricking my S7 for nothing.

Since I got the Note 3 a week ago, I've spent most of that time trying to find a way to get proper lockscreen notifications. "Proper" in this case means pretty much what LockInfo IV did on jailbroken iPhones (if you're familiar with that):
Each notification chosen by the user is displayed on the lockscreen as a separate entity
Each notification (text or email) can be viewed in its entirety on the lockscreen, if the user chooses that option (such as by tapping to expand each notification)
Notifications are persistent, in that they remain visible on the lockscreen whenever the phone is brought out of sleep mode.
I've tried LockerPro, Nils, Pop-up Notifier, and others and they all fail in one way or another. I'm led to believe that lockscreen notifications are limited by the way that Android populates the notifications panel. The big problem is that if you get more than one email or text, they all get lumped together into a single, useless "You have <x> number of new messages" entry, which means you have to unlock the phone and launch the respective app to see who it's from and what it says.
This completely defeats the purpose of screening notifications on the lockscreen.
I'd appreciate recommendations for any app that will make lockscreen notifications useful. Thanks to designgears, my phone is rooted now, if that makes a difference.
Try dynamic notifications. It mimics the moto x.
Won't show everything though.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that one and it didn't do it for me, but I'll give it another shot at some point.
For now, I've stopped worrying about lockscreen notifications, since push email is basically broken on the Note 3 anyway. It's like a time machine back to 1995.

Hey - I was looking for the same for my N3....i've been trying Dynamic Notifications on and off for awhile now. At first it works, and then just stops. Maybe give Knock2 +V2..I'm testing it now and so far it seems to work flawlessly for me
Hey everyone! It looks like the stock Samsung messaging app (for sms/mms) is a little weird when paired with an Android Wear watch. When you swipe to look at the list of recent messages, the most recent message is buried at the bottom, instead of being at the top (quite annoying). I switched over to Messenger by Google to fix this, but just realized that I've lost the edge light up functionality when people listen on the People edge call or text me. Is there any way to have the messages not come across Android Wear backwards, and keep the People edge functionality?
I feel like I am the only one out there with this issue, but it has happened with a whole slew of SMS apps, and on several different Rom's including stock. What happens is when I get a text message, and i respond to it in the quickly reply or heads up notification the notification does not clear unless I pull back down and either swipe it away or just pull down on the notification shade and put it back up.. I'm sure of this could be the App but not all of it..
Anyone else out there experiencing it? Or is it just some feature that is new and i hate.. ?
Currently I'm on OctOS 7.0 using Genie SMS app. But this has happened on just about every SMS app and several other roms.
FWIW problem resolved in 7.1 at-least on the pixel build with uberstock
So, the notification for Oreo's update had been bugging me so I said 'well, why not install it, nothing should change too much'. To my surprise, I find that it has many bugs (can't open discord, the blue light filter doesn't work on the notif panel, and can't turn off notifications while getting the numbered notifications on the apps). So I was wondering how to go around installing Nougat, or even the one that came with the phone, Marshmallow. I want to be extra cautious and not brick it or something.
What are the things I should take into account? Is there a guide or something so that I don't screw up in some part? Are there any regional differences as to the firmware I should get?
My question is where can I find an option to accept notifications for just a couple apps (smartthings and arlo) during my do not disturb time. I remember there was somewhere before pie on my s8 plus but can't find anything on the s10 plus.
Nevermind. I just dug a little deeper and found the answer in notifications, clicked on specific app, then notifications again, ignore do not disturb. If anyone else needs help with it.
