Can more LTE bands be enabled on the SM-N910U? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On Qualcomm based devices, certain nv items needed to be changed to enable more lte bands. Can the same thing be done on the Note 4 with the Intel modem?

On Qualcomm devices? Where did you see this information? I've never heard about it

Some LTE bands could be enabled on the galaxy s5 and some other phones. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059

No, you can't.

Google Nexus 4 - Finally, LTE or NOT?

Hi everyone,
Is Google Nexus 4 finally a fully LTE capable phone or not? and is there any official news from Google that they might patch it to not work with LTE anymore?
Thanks
It technically works on one (I think) band that LTE uses, in Canada, but I think that's it. As far as I know it would need some more hardware to be fully supported on all LTE bands.
TLDR; for realistic purposes, no

Which band is that? 2100Mhz? and if so then it's fully supported in Canada?! ??? Of course all LTE bands are not supported by any phones out there because of differences in USA, Canada, Japan, and Europe...
It's confusing because some news say that LTE antenna is needed and more hardware components so I don't understand why one of the bands work when hardware components are missing. Of course, it is not LTE when only the name LTE shows beside the signal and speed is not great.
I think it would be best if someone can post their speeds on Rogers, Bell, Fido, and Telus and let us know if LTE really works.
Well that thread already exists:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007943
It only works on LTE band 4 and Google has already said they cannot update the phone to work on the rest of the LTE bands as the hardware is not in the phone. Band 4 is there by default in the LTE chip.
What is LTE Band 4? Can you please explain a bit.
Thanks

Yes it works on Rogers LTE in Canada..
Google better not try to "disable", but glad someone brought that to my attention as I will be checking before i update anything

Only Band4 on nexus4?
Can we make it support band1?

I believe its a limitation of the hardware as to what bands the radio supports. So short answer is no unfortunately.

You are correct it is a hardware limitation as the Nexus 4 contains no LTE chip. Band 4 is integrated into Qualcomm S4 chipset that's why we have it.

Stupid question

I'm wondering if there's any other differences than our S5's coming with Verizon apps and the bootloader being locked? I'm thinking all the radios/frequency bands are the exact same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The only stupid question is the one not asked. No, different carriers use different bands. I'm not sure who uses what but I know they are different.

I know different carriers use different bands, but my question is are all bands present on all phones. So say they release a GPE Galaxy S5, if all the bands are there presumably I'd be able to use it on Verizon if all bands are there.

The bands might be present but I know they omit things like CDMA antennas on the Virgin Mobile phones so you can't use those bands. They might work somewhat but wouldn't be fully functional for roaming and 4GLTE and such.

If i recall correctly. The GSM based versions do not have support for CDMA, while VZW variants have support for GSM/HSPA+/UMTS.

Unlock LTE?

Hello. As you may know, all variants of the Galaxy Gran Prime have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 chipset, which has LTE support, right?
So, my question is: is it possible to develop something that could unlock it on the non-LTE versions?
I have one, it is the brazilian variant of it, the SM-G530BT.
Thanks! And sorry if this is some kind of dumb question.
Unsure what the question is. LTE should work on 3G it will just show 3G and not LTE. Say you are normally in area of LTE and you go somewhere there is only 3g.
What I meant is that my carrier has 4G/LTE support, but on this phone's specs there's no LTE support. Do you get it?
It only says it has support for HSPA+ (3G+), not 4G.
