Add me to the broken glass list

Is there any cover that covers the camera's lens? I have read about several people having broken glass on the battery cover and now I join the group. I know glass doesn't scratch as easy as plastic, but it's horribly thin
Huh... i didn't realize that the lens cover was actually glass. Well, the Invisible Shield whole device cover comes with a piece that you can apply over the lens cover that has a pre-punched hole to not obstruct the lens.

I had the same issue. I called the store I bought it at and told the manager I noticed mine was missing the back glass piece. I said I never noticed it (I peeled it off) and asked if they could replace the battery cover since I just bought the phone. They did it with no questions asked. If you tell them you cracked it I doubt they will replace it.

Factory Installed Screen Protector?

So I just took off the peel off protector on my phone and immediately noticed a scratch about 1/4" long on the center of the screen. I was pretty pi55ed since it had to be a factory born issue. So I was about to put a new screen protector on it that I have for my iPhone but I all of a sudden noticed what looks to be a pre-installed factory set screen protector on the screen? If you look near the glass edge, you will see a lip or edge where there seems to be a film placed on the phone. Correct me if incorrect but it cannot be a permanent film as it would not be recessed from the glass screen's edge if it was. So that scratch is nothing but the films surface and not the glass itself then, I hope!
There is a thread or threads already on here regarding the pre applied screen protector on the phone. Yes you can peel this off and yes there is a pre applied protector on it. Some say taking it off increases the response of the screen.
Well sheit, sorry for the additional noob post then lol. Good to know as every other company I have used never puts one on..bonus for Sony. I will leave it as the screen on mine is way too sensitive already!
I wouldnt peel it off if I were u! I mean if it is there it must be for something.

Rear Lens Cover Affecting Picture Quality

Since I bought my M8, I had noticed a steady decline in picture quality. I took a close look at the plastic lens cover and noticed an iridescent sheen and numerous scratches. My old G2 had the same kind of issue, and I remembered being able to fix it with toothpaste.
What a difference.
All I used was some Arm & Hammer baking soda toothpaste, a nice circular rubbing motion with my finger, and a soft microfiber towel to clean everything up.
Here are some before and after pictures, taken with identical settings in manual shooting mode (no editing, of course) -
So as you can see, it's a pretty huge difference. I'm not sure what kind of coating they put on the lens, but it horrifically degrades photo quality over time. I've had a case over the phone the whole time I've owned it, and the only glass/plastic that's scratched has been this back lens cover.
I saw another thread that suggested removing the lens - I don't think that's necessary. I'm back to stock-looking photos with just a little bit of polishing. Time will tell if it remains this way, though. If the coating was some sort of anti-scratch layer, it may get worse.
Thanks for this. I have the same problem and was wondering if there wasn't some way to rub out the scratches. You say you used just a little toothpase and rubbed lightly with your fingertip?

There is a very informative thread that explains the issue and had to correct it here in the forum.
But, in a nutshell, the M8 has a UV coating that starts to cloud up and is easily scratched due to heat build up in the phone.
This is ONLY a coating and can be remove... The process is simple as stated in the original posters message.
I used q-tips and alcohol... That worked for me... But I have also seen threads that have gone the toothpaste route.
After you remove the coating the lens will look like new.... I have cut up an old un-used screen protector and applied it to the lens as a protective measure.

Yes, all I did was apply a very small amount of toothpaste (plain, white toothpaste - like Colgate or Arm & Hammer - no fancy gels or anything) directly to the lens, and rub with my fingertip in tiny circles. It took a few minutes, but the coating was able to be removed completely. I was careful to use a damp cloth to clean the toothpaste off rather than just throwing some water on it, just in case all the rubbing loosened a seal on the cover or something.
I have this problem too. Thanks for the tip!

Screen scratched with cover.

Kindly anybody tell me whether screen is already covered with protector by Samsung as in case of my mobile it seems there is one already applied by company..
Very confusing title and question. Is your screen scratched? Do you have a cover? What screen protection do you have that is "already applied"?
Sorry for confusion. Actually my screen scratched with clear view cover. It was without any protective screen . On close inspection of screen there seem to be protector already applied by company. Can anybody confirm whether screen is truly naked or covered by protector by default?

The S6 has a Gorilla 4 glass screen. For the rest there is no protection.
I read somewhere here that there is a type of laminate on the Gorilla glass surface, but can't find the post.
Older clear view covers were proven to scratch the screen. I'd get a replacement phone if I were you, outrageous that Samsung's own products can damage your device like this.

Reinforced battery back door

Hi.
I have cracked the rear battery glass cover again on my S8. Its the forth time it happens. And I don't know why.
I have bought genuine battery glass covers from ebay. But it doesn't hold long before the glass cracks again.
Does anyone know if there is an reinforced (maybe aluminium or carbon)?
(Sorry for my bad english)
try putting a skin on it. https://dbrand.com/shop/samsung-galaxy-s8-skins they look nice and should work like a screen protector on it.
Make sure you are taking off the foam part of the sticky part they put on it. The glass should fit flush against the back with the thin thin layer of adhesive they put. My mistake and I cracked the first one because it flexed.

What foam? I only took plastic of the adhesive tape that was already applied on the cover. Then placed the cover on the phone
