Rate this thread to express how well you can see the HTC U11+'s display outdoors. In case you've been playing Minecraft for 18 months straight, you might not known how to get outside anymore. Well, find the door and walk through it. A higher rating indicates that it has very high maximum brightness and thus fantastic outdoor visibility in direct sunlight.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

How can this screen support HDR with less than 500 nits... lmao
The u11+ screen is different from the u11. We don't know how many nits it has.
It wont sell on this price tag
According to the GSMArena test (third page), the screen tops out at 300 nits...

If the battery and display are as they say, the phone will be sent back lol.
This is disappointing and epic tragic result if that true to all htc u11 plus device when release.
I will return it immediately back to HTC.
I can’t imagine HTC made such epic fail flagships device ever.
Hope review unit of gsmarena was faulty.
And even battery life is completely disaster and totally unacceptable for almost 4000 battery capacity.
It’s lower than all device out there with 3000 it’s even worse than 2700 battery capacity of Sony XZ1.
Total unbelievable and frustrating.

GSM should have known it`s a defective unit& redo the test before posting the review. How come only they get subpar battery life results on U11+ while others report great battery life and a nice screen?
Personally, I think it`s important to get a review right the first time especially it is quite a reputable site.

Well until now only GSM is writing the worst things.
All the other reviewers like those Android central not mention such issues with both battery life and screen quality.
Also all user here at XDA having the device are very pleased with overall quality and performance on the U11 plus.

Android central said that the battery life provided between 4 and 7 hours of screen on time which isn't very impressive.
4 to 7 hours SOT is very good battery life.
I imagine the 4 hours SOT is with LTE most of the case and high brightness level and 7 hours with most WiFi and lower brightness lever for example 40-50%
With my Galaxy S8 plus that’s the SOT I get so as I can see HTC has the same behavior and no problem.
Now I’m having one week now Huawei P10 and having 5 hours SOT per day mixed WiFi-LTE usage.
So judging from that the battery life for HTC is above average and on par with my previous S8 plus and current P10.

My point with that statement is that a key feature of the phone is a HUGE battery which comes at the cost of weight. Now if this extra 30g of unwanted weight isn't able to provide more battery life than say the LG v30 then it seems really quite bad.

What would the difference be?
The phone is coming out next month. Production has started already.
I don't blame the hardware though. The S4 Pro is powerful.
Most likely Sony screwed up the software.....
Also battery needed to be bigger.
Why in the love of god didn't Sony follow Samsung and use a bigger battery like the Note 2? :crying:

I see what you mean, the actual production devices could ship with different software I don't know? I agree about the battery though we'll just have to wait for a full review I guess
Engadget got the ZL at 13,589
It's an S4 Pro with quad-core krait. Just like the Droid DNA and Nexus 4. Stop worrying about benchmarks, especially when it hasn't even been released. It will perform like every other S4 Pro phone, give or take a small margin.
The battery complaint is even more ridiculous. So many phones get updates on launch day fixing battery issues and they keep tweaking it with each update for months after release.
The biggest disappointment is the display. It looks exactly like a bigger version of the Xperia S/Ion/T with all the problems. Washed out look with poor viewing angles and contrast. Sony likes to turn up the brightness to mask the poor contrast. It's 2013. HTC doesn't even make displays and their SuperLCD IPS display is far and ahead the best. IPS displays on LG are also good as well as the one on the Lumia 920. Sony displays continue to disappoint.

The Ion has a pretty good display, dunno what you're talking about, many people agree with me. Probably one of the best out there.
I got the S which seems to have a pretty nice one as well, maybe almost the same as the Ion. The only washed out display that Sony produced this year on a high-end device is the one on the T. Over-saturated colors don't necessarily mean better displays.
The ION has the best display. Take a look at the thread in the Xperia T forums that compares the ION, T, and S in terms of display.

I never said anything about oversaturation being better. You are making assumptions that I prefer the blown out colors of AMOLED or the extra warmth of the SuperLCD. I mentioned the LG display looks better than the Sony one, and it is even LESS saturated than the Sony display. The point is Sony does not have a single IPS display on their phones. It is 100% agreed upon that IPS is the pinnacle of LCD technology and has been for years. Professional monitors from NEC, Dell, and HP use IPS panels. The colors and contrast do not shift when viewing off axis, and that is important for an even image, even when looking dead on. LG and HTC have been putting IPS displays on their phones for years now. Sony has no excuse. If you live in a bubble of Sony phones and never look at any other smartphone, I'm sure the display looks great. But there are plenty of reviews stating the obvious. The poor viewing angles are becoming increasingly unacceptable in a premium smartphone. The flaws are even more apparent on a small mobile display that you move around and use at different angles. It's not some nice monitor you prop in front of your desk and sit perfectly in front of.
Still way prettier and with far better UI than TouchWiz.

Yeah, well the Z can score higher than that -- and with XDA here, it's bound to go higher than 22.000
I don't know what Sony's game is, but why the onscreen buttons? That only takes away from the display! For some reason, only the GNex looks good with those, maybe because it doesn't have any extra buttons?
Anyways, I still think the best buttons were on the HTC Desire. You couldn't miss those.
About what I expected and not low at all for a stock device. You have to keep in mind most of the top scores on Antutu are with custom kernels and roms. As for battery I am not worried about it as it has not really been a issue with the newer Sony stuff.

Agreed. And I'll be hiding the on screen buttons completely, and using gestures instead, meaning that I get the complete 5" !!
Very glad Sony did this, was waiting for someone to stop making redundant buttons.
Now if only they actually gave it a removable battery, then I'd be sold 100% (mostly talking about the ZL, I can understand the Z)

Ummm I should point out the S3 gets around the 9000 range in Antutu and the Nexus 4 which runs the same processor as the Z gets around 16,000 which about in line with that benchmark so... wtf are you talking about. Also *GASP* a phone lose battery while doing intensive benchmarks I am soooo shocked. Obvious troll post.
Given that loads of us have been burned by the poor battery lives of previous HTC phones, I can imagine many of us are waiting for news on the performance of this phone in this arena.
However, there are a few bright in regards to what the HTC Ones battery performance might be:
<[email protected]>
Snapdragon 600 / APQ8064Pro should be considerably better on battery than the Tegra 3, so yeah it should be way improved.
Click to collapse
Compared to the HTC Droid DNA which had superior battery life to the HTC One X due to using the S4 processor over the Tegra 3, the 28nm S600 should have perhaps even better performance.
It doesn't seem like the major reviewers have been given test units yet but I would be surprised if a few weren't floating out in the wild... Even with, what may not be the final release software, if you have the HTC One to hand, how has battery life been performing for you?
I'm looking forward to collecting all the battery life info on this beast before release as this may probably be the most important factor influencing whether or not I buy this device
And if you don't have a review unit, what type of battery life would you be looking for? On my current HTC One X, I could get 4-5 hours of continuous screen time usage with screen brightness at minimum, I'm hoping for about +7 hours.
Isnt it 28nm?
Smaller screen than the Droid DNA and a larger battery... the performance should be better...
But I expected the Xperia Z to perform better than it actually did.. Waiting for the initial reviews.

AW: Battery Life?
I would be highly interested as to the battery life compared to the One X+. Surely the smaller build of the One cpu should have an edge over the One X, but the display resolution of the One could
be the downside in terms of power consumption.

Has anyone read any updates on day to day battery life?
I think it is too early to tell as from what I read the phones which are on demo or reviewed don't have the final software so any sites stating about battery life will need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Battery life
The results obtained by HTC One to be counted as the better ones. During our tests, the smartphone stand all day intensive work - video, pictures, filming, listening to music and performance testing. By extrapolation, we can say that the battery HTC One at a more moderate use of the smartphone's enough even for two days which was confirmed by a further two days of testing. Is that a lot? It is difficult to relate to us, as it is the first smartphone with Full HD screen, which we test, but compared with products equipped with HD screens, the result should be treated with respect.

Batter? Disappointing? Where? You need 18hours per day of surfing or what? 7hrs is pretty enough
Are you looking at numbers (resolution) only? Look at the blacks, look at the contrast... it's bad. Plus it doesn't allow full brightness when phone gets warm.
And yes 6h of web surfing at 50% brightness sucks, Z2 or G2 give twice of that, around 12h.

This is clearly a pathetic review. They say everything against it on the particular page and on the last page they say everything positive. And those smart people made the review with the preproduction unit too! A phone with a tallk time of 25hours can never have 6:30 Minutes of web browsing. Also, what disappointment in benchamarks? Seriously? Then Nexus 5 is the worst phone ever on performance..
Best is go and have a look at it yourself. Samsung paid them sooo much just to get the name down.. They sold more than 100000 Units in the first 5 days which was 3 times more than the S5 so obviously Samsung is jealous. I have written a mail to them asking about each and every aspect. Hope they reply soon.:good:

Well the numbers and measurement don't lie. We already know the benchmark number will not be as good as s5, m8 due to QHD resolution given they use same cpu as S5 witb FHD resolution.
browsing make use of QHD, graphic, processing, javascript, and everything, while talk time is not (just black screen).
Screen measurement is disapointing already compared to even G2. It means the panel quality is not as good.
They praised it in the end because from normal user it really is good lhone witb good design. LG tried hard.

I'm sure there is some wild conspiracy as to why GSM Arena lied in their review. Surely Samsung paid them off! Speaking of Samsung and sales...there was a huge no sale in South Korea the same time the S5 launched, which explains the low initial numbers. This has been reported by news outlets. I'm an LG fan and wanted the G3 to be so much more, but they were too quick to market with the QHD screen and should've waited for better battery tech or processor optimization. I'm buying the G2 over this phone, because it's been proven to be an amazing device, even months later. Don't let your fanboyism blind you...

Hello xda users,
Most of us are waiting this phone and want this phone. And of course before buying we should know some information about it, camera, display, battery life, etc. I was thinking about battery life of this phone, 3000mAh is enough for qhd screen, I know LG did some tricks about battery life, but anyway, dunno if will be ok for 1 day usage. I've seen other threads are allready open, Tmobile users, UK users, Indian users, etc, but will be awesome if those who received G3 will share here impressions, pro and cons of this device, will be very useful for many users to find more information about this phone :fingers-crossed:
I have a South Korea version of 3GB ram.
I'm not good at English
So I will summary for you by using 3 point.
1. QHD is overspec.
Almost Koreans think so too.
G3 has animation framedrop when window is changed than G2 (I have used G2)
But it is not serious for use.
2. Good Design
Almost Korean has same mind.
In my think, Design forgives all problem.
Ecstatic.
3. High Temperature
the cause is QHD. SD801 is want.
Power button is heated. Oh my Summer......
Nevertheless, launching sale record or populor of G3 is more hot than SGS5 in Korea.
I think it seems like victory of design.

I cant test it myself. Now My g3 have become a brick by my fault. Moreover I cant find F400S firmware....
But people say g3 has a new battery saving skill.
So it is scored good point by some reviewer.
I'm also a Korean user of G3, but wanted to share a different info about G3.
In South Korea, LG actually spread the G3 almost near $100 and 50K ppl actually bought this phone only after the launch, which was at May 28.
After that, lots of people talked about its' spec and negative stuffs.
1. QHD display.
Some people(but many) said QHD is overspec. Lg setted the sharpening too high that letters were too sharpy. But, seeing the websites in PC version was amazing. Also, people said some have 'yellowish' displays. Well, most phones were to blueish and the color temp was too high, and people are thinking that this was the normal value, but, our monitors in PCs' color temperture is the same as G3, and people are seeing the yellowish colors. However, there are people who have a more yellowish displays.
2. Battery
3K mAh battery was a big battery, however, playing a movie stimuneously, ran 8 hours of battery life. However, light users usually uses for 24 hours or more. Playing movies or games will dramatically decrease battery life. QHD display consumes lots of battery life.
3. Temperature
Few people experiences high temperature on just internet surfing.
4. Design
G3 is the best design ever and Gold is the best
5. Camera
DSLR uses 300 ppi to take a picture, but G3 uses 72 ppi, which compresses the pixels. Seeing in normal or zoom-out view is pretty, but you'll see compressed pixels when you zoom in.
- Overall(in my view)
Now, I want to say about what I felt about G3. The design is very pretty. The size of the phone is same as Note 2. The grap of the phone is better than Note 2. Gold is pretty, and Black is also pretty, but if you want to have some cases on your G3, white is the winner, cuz black and gold have very few options to wear some cases.
My display have no yellowish colors, no vertical lines, decent temperature, long battery life. I think I got the normal one. I am very happy to get G3 and I'm satisfied that I have no deflects on my phone as others have a lot. Happy Happy~
Skynogi, Sir, how are photos in low light?

How is the performance? Do you experience any lags or stuttering?
Thanks
Korea version bought in HK yesterday, F400K. The below review is not positive, but I really think i have a defect version. But my seller is refusing to let me compare with a different one, so I can't tell if it is a hardware or software issue.
* screen is gorgeous, although the sample video supplied by LG is way over sharpened, they still look nice, better than nexus 5
* camera quality is better, don't know about the laser, but definitely focusing faster and more accurate than nexus 5
* the phone holds very well and you don't feel it that much bigger compared to nexus 5 when holding, the buttons at the back are actually not bad, and you don't really need them a lot with the knock on/off feature.
* The phone lags big time compared to nexus 5. I can type much faster than the words showing up. It is so annoying that I wanted to go back to my old nexus 5. It is not so notable with the default LG keyboard, but I am using the google pinyin keyboard and it is slow as hell when typing Chinese. The same input method is butter smooth on nexus 5. I uninstalled all of the korean apps that i could and tried to stop every single process without any luck.
* Battery is not good although it maybe too early to tell. I used auto brightness with the level set to around 60(the level seems to also effect the overall auto brighness). No heavy use, just normal texting, browsing, and 15 minutes maps/gps. A full charge went down to 20% with 1.5 hours screen on time. It was on battery for about 16 hours. I had to charge it today, next time i will report with a proper screenshot. I suspect it may have something to do with korea radio running on HK LTE nextwork.
Oh dear....this is not what I wanted to hear.

As mentioned earlier, I really think mine has some serious software or hardware issues. I just disabled 5g wifi and LTE. My phone is now on the second fully charged battery with only normal wifi and 3g connections, will report back the battery status tomorrow
I'll save judgement
This lag when typing probably isn't "normal," it'd be nice if he could get his hands on another one.

Sir, thanks for your small review, and post here tomorrow battery life. Also, can you do some photos in low light and see how is quality?
From what I have read so far battery life seems to be the same as the Z1, which is decent for a 2k display, but I would have preferred to have a a 1080p display with sick battery life

remember these are the first batch..they will fix them along the way

Thank you for your review. Especially since I also have a nexus 5 which is hard to beat, only the camera is crap. Is the camera better then the nexus 5 camera? Focus is off at 7 out of 10 on nexus 5.
Anyway, your device must be faulty and if not...well then LG is done after delivering such peace of s*** I hope you can get your hands on another one.

Yes but none of the reviews/experiences in this thread are really good/positive.
Hoping for more first hand experience, but I am not too excited any more.
Thank you for your responses to all who posted their perspective on here, and please keep on sharing your thoughts!

I'd reserve judgment until we see some first hand experiences in EU/US. From the sounds of this thread, it sounds like LG rushed the G3 in Korean market and there are problems.

Sure, it's too early for judgment, but I doubt LG will be able to fix the issues.
This QHD screen is totally unnecessary, but will cause problems like lag, heat and less battery life.
Don't get me wrong, I own a G2 and want the G3 so bad...

Seems like the "reviews" are playing it safe at this point. No one seems to be blown away by the phone just yet.
Mine is on pre order so I guess I will know soon. Despite having returned both G4 and V10 I'll keep an open mind.

It blows mate, it's like an iphone.
Actually, review are bad....
I don't know why they take the time to test the S7, particulary with the camera. With the LG G5 review, We see so many bloom of samples even with daylight and very few low light samples... When we know the quality of the LG G4 and we read than the LG G is a little better, the reviews don't seems to push the quality of the camera.
Maybe LG don't have give enough money for the reviews^^
For the battery, it's not a problem with QuickCharge 3 or the removable battery or an support battery or .... When i see in the reviews the lack of wireless charging, what's the problem ? We lost more energy to charge an smartphone than charge it himself. Maybe in ten years, wireless could be gone, but if you have a family with all the devices who use actually, the wireless charging, welcome to your bill of electricity !
Finally, a good thing : the speaker for the voice communication. With all my Samsung devices, i find the sound is bad, with Motorola, it's excellent and with LG also.

all these reviews use a Pre production unit with non final software... so we all wait for full reviews after availability

I prefer Android.Let's stick to the pursuit of better android
Until you've used the phone 3 weeks all day every day that is the only review you can trust. I can't wait to write my G5 review. My S7 Edge review goes live tomorrow. And just 10 mins after writing the Review my S7 Edge ground to a halt. Deleting photos in the gallery quickly and the phone can't keep up.
So after I thought the S7 Edge was really good I'm now in a dilemma. Probably a bug.
With all the early previews they give you an idea but not true reality. I'm very excited over the G5.
Damn, battery life sucks and the screen sucks too, what are those, this Delta E is highhh 5.6 average up to more than 10 and this low brightness.
FAILED.

But how can you possibly say that?
And that other guy that says the battery life sucks. You both telepathic? From the reviews I've watched or read they've said they were pleasantly surprised, again that's on a pre production unit

I'm quite surprise too, it's not comparable to S7 (according to GSMArena results) but still is better than both G4 and V10
A little bit better for the battery life, a little bit. Pre unit or not, it's always the same, when they say it's pre unit it's the final software and hardware... and means it sucks.
I must have watched a million reviews online about mobiles and ever since the "smartphone" came out all everyone says is battery life could be better. I'm personally not too bothered, plus I'd rather have poor battery life on a phone which I can change the battery on. Either I've preordered mine and can't wait for its arrival.
I read up on this phone daily, and though all the previews/reviews make note of the fact they are using a pre-release unit, most seem to agree battery life isn't up to par and the module clip/battery is not easy to remove/replace. I've read/seen previews where they almost thought they were going to break something, and that is not good.

All because it's something new in my opinion. Of course you have the thought in the back of your mind about breaking it. No other phone has ever let you rip apart the bottom half lol.
But always a double edge sword, if it were to easily slide out, ppl would complain about build quality and the potential of the module slipping out on basic usage. The community's will always have their own thoughts. And I agree with the fellow a couple post ahead of me, literally every single smartphone that has ever been announced the people said they wanted longer battery life lmao. If I get an hour less standby time than my buddy with an S7. Who cares. I save 2 hours of charge time by swapping out another battery in 30 seconds or less. Im a huge phone buff and I have to say I'm more than ecstatic about this device.

Giant leap is a bit of an exaggeration, but their examples were quite good. That again was also a pre-production sample they were using. I personally am very much looking forward to the camera on this phone.

Battery performance the same so as usual take all reviews with a pinch of salt. Some reviews claim S7 last a little ,onger but then mention the swappable battery on the G5 so usual a draw in comparison.
