is anyone prepared to shed some light on my problem !!
situation - tried to upgrade executive rom - upgrade seemed to run well right throught to the congratulations screen - i was then told to reset device after which i was given the prompt - press x or 0.
after which the device tried to reboot however !!! and this is where it goes expensivley wrong the machine then poweres up with a very unusual screen pattern - it looks like a fizzy hash of red green and blue pixels - the device will not power down or anything - i f i squint at the screen i can see what is almost text around three lines near bottom right of screen but it is impossible to decipher. if i soft key - - and reset then i get back to the familier grey back drop with the request "press 0 to restore - press x to exit"
whichever i choose the above situatipon prevails.
i have read many many posts all bear no fruit whatsoever - i try running the mtty utility ( suspecting that i have issues with bootloader) but i cant get it to offer me a usb conection - i have religiously worked through various trouble shoots on this including running it on laptop which isnt installed with activsync, on this i am offered com 1 - 2 - 3
but nothing seems to connect to the device i would like somone to confirm if i am in a retrievable situation or that i am wasteing my time - idealy if anyone could point me at or guide me through to a solution i would happily show my appreciation via a donation to this forum and or otherwise.
if i try to run helimis rom using noid.exe i get error code 150 - this suggest to me that the utility is connecting to the device although i am not completly convinced it is connecting.
please be assured i am not trying to avoid helping myself with this post i am prepared to read and search through posts " which i have been doing" but i guess due to my inexperiance i might be overlooking some relative information.
Try the following:
1. Press power button+reset+backlight to enter bootloader mode.
2. Connect your machine to the host PC with USB cable.
3. Start upgrade as before.
I hope it helps...
thanks but that doesnt work

Hi, were you able to get into the bootloader? if so please give us some more details about this last procedure suggested by jarbi.

Just one more idea: did you remove your SD and SIM card before connecting ? It causes sometimes a problem for USB connection.
Yes sim and sd card removed
Yes sim and sd card removed prior to attempting - as far as i can tell my device is not entering bootloader mode correctly the screen is a "fizzy hash of pixels red green and blue".
Wow - that's bad news. I was thinking of re-flashing mine just for the fun of it, but maybe not....
Use following link, it may help...

Hello.
I was happily updating my I-mate JasJar (aka HTC Universal (I think)) when i accidently bumped a book off my desk. horribly the book hit the USB cable at the front of the compuer and this was enough to dislodge and it disconnected from the computer. Now it wont turn on. I cannot enter bootloader mode or do anything with it. When it is plugged into power, the blue led flashes fast, and the red led flashes slower, and thats it. Nothing appears on screen. My computer cant detect anything is plugged in at all.
Any chance of fixing myself, or do i need to send it off to one of those repair place. If i need it professionally repaired, roughly how much do you think it would cost?
google turned up nothing useful
Thanks

Good luck,
Thanks for the reply. The phone displays nothing on the screen, and it is not detected by any computer at all. Not even as an unrecognised usb device. It does nothing at all other than those flashing lights that i described earlier. Also it only has those flashing lights when plugged into power, not when on battery.
Any other ideas on how to get it working again??
EDIT: Do i need a bootable sd card in the phone for anything to be displayed on the screen at all (when i do key combo)?
EDIT2: I noticed If i hold down the reset button for about 1 second, the red and blue leds light up for about 1 second, than the red led intensifies and the blue led goes out (this lasts for another second), than it goes back into its usual constant flashing. may be useful (i hope)
Hi sorry for double post but i figured i can only edit soo many times before it is more convienant just to make a new post.
I emailed teleplan for repaires, to see what would happen here is the email:
Based on your information provided, we believe the phone could be repaired. However, at this stage we are unable to provide the quote repair cost, as we need to conduct the assessment to the unit prior to find out the fault. The quotation of the repair cost will be provided after the assessment.
For non-warranty repair, the basic repair cost is $88.00 + freight cost of $16.50.
If the unit needs a part replacement, the repair cost would be $88.00 + $16.50 + part price.
The part price can be vary depending what kind of parts required in the repair.
Prior to proceed the quotation, there is an assessment fee of $66.00 that need to paid in advance. Then if you wish to proceed the repair, the assessment fee will be deducted from the total repair cost. If the quotation is rejected, an assessment fee is not refundable and the unit will be returned without repair.
Before sending the unit to Teleplan, we advise you to login to our portal (http://www.apac.teleplan-portal.com/imate/) for booking in the unit.
If you are a new user, you have to register using a valid email address, and detailed instructions on how to send your repair to Teleplan will be emailed to you. Please read these instructions before you create a new repair request.

So unless there is some other method of un-bricking the thing, what do you think about this email?? and their website at: http://www.apac.teleplan-portal.com/imate/. When i clicked to register, it has badly placed checkboxes for the phone provider. The problem being that i got it second hand, completely unlocked without a hint of any provider.
What do you reccomend/think i should do/advice on self-unbricking ect ect?
Hi all,
First of all, let me introduce myself: I'm newbe here, I'm membre just a couple of weeks ago. I'm from spain, so sorry if my English is not good. Excelent forum. Great jobs.
Well, testing roms in my elf I made a brick, totaly dead, (no led at all, no response to any combination of buttons, no response to charger or ActiveSync), so I started searching for Jtag info, but there is very few over internet, at least i didn't find it. More than this I'm not familiar with Jtag, so even if I find info, maybe I don't know how to handle it.
I'm sure that there is a lot of people owning HTC ELF bricks, so I'd like to share the info I found to see if together and with masters help we cand find a solution to "revive" our HTC elf using Jtag.
I just found a russian forum containig some info, so here you are what I found:
You'll find attached 3 files:
PIMG_0013 is the board pinout picture
Wiggle_arm is one JTAG interface circuit
70057019 is another in detail JTAG circuit and schema
I don't know how to post the images themselves, so I attached them.
I hope this will be the beggining of a good investigation job and a way to recover all this dead ELF.
I have some more info regarding to the software they use, please ask me if you need it.
Regards.
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POST OWNER: IWAN
UP
No one knows anything about Jtag?
Half solution
Hi, i had the same problem and i found something "good" on the web, cuz i haven't found a complete solution but it's a start.
1.- Remove battery for about 2 hours
2.- attach battery again and then press power, volume down, red and green buttons, middle button, and then reset button, release reset button fisrt and others after that.
Yeah, it sounds stupid but i tried and worked for me, now at least have bootloader mode, if you get this, try "how to unbrick" topic in this forum, there is a lot of info in it.
Cheers.
i can't physically press all that buttons at once.can you explain by steps? are you releasing any buttons until you press last button?
you only need to press red and green and reset i think, been a while since I have done this.
What issue are you trying to solve?

The thread isn't mine, it's everyone's.
Okay, so the tablets don't have a cmos battery because of the form factor, instead their uefi firmware stores data on the chip itself. We need to trick the bios to make it appease corrupted so that the backup bios image gets restored. But we will need a photo of the bios chip to see what pins will be needed to short.
If your device has an hdmi port, then you can try connecting to a display, but i am not sure it will work.
Shorting the bios pins may not damage it if done correctly, but you take the risk.
And please, don't buy those chinese tablets, they will break down suddenly.
The chip with the green dot on it is the bios chip in my tablet. The alphanumerical code on it is what you'll need.
make screenshots of Motherboard
It has mini hdmi connector

This is your bios chip (in the attachment). What does it read on it? Search google for the model of the chip like "winbond xxxxxxxxxx bios reset" (where xxxxxxx is your code on that chip).

Your device is fine, just the bios needs to be reset or reflashed. Can you try entering DnX mode? But you'll need your firmware files (stock rom).

Explain me
I do short pin 2 with charge in no luck!
It has a reset button, but no luck,!
Where's the ground in my tablet
Different motherboard from the link you give
Want try again........

Dnx mode is like qualcomm's download mode, but on intel baytrail devices. On my tablet, you enter using pressing vol up + vol down + power.
This method will work IF you have stock firmware and ONLY IF the stock firmware has a bios image. If you don't have stock firmware or it doesn't contain bios image then don't bother.
What confusion
But why they do a reset button?
I press it but nothing happen
It's not equipped baytrail, want me send your house irulu, you can see if you can beat or use as
A floating disk.
I switch for a cheap chuwy tablet,I have no money
To spend for a trusted tablet.

That reset button resets OS, not the bios.
Keep that tablet, maybe you will solve the problem later. Give it to a PC repair store, tgey must have equipment to flash a damn bios chip.
About the call recording, tasker might help although i don't know how to manage it, so don't ask.

If you know how to enter the bios, then press F9 and enter to return to default settings.
Only both USB seem work and Bluetooth
Want pair
But keyboard lights off
Mean keyboard don't do anything because
Is off.
I try USB keyboard but off.
I hear no sounds .
Another hints?
Seem likely the irulu is possessed by an obscure presence
Only HDMI can do the clue.
But BIOS technically if I remove an hardware's don't seem to emits sounds.
I admitting no buy irulu tablet in future.
I want a tablet is easy to recovered even in BIOS corrupted situations.
Can you give me the name of a laptop fit this
Specs,strongly and easy .

Technically, it's not the tablet's fault, you changed some incompatible settings.
Yea, they compiled a ****ty bios, but chuwi won't be better. They're all the same, manufactured in a same place but with different branding.
I'd say, look for refurbished laptops or netbooks, like from asus, dell, hp, you get it. They will last longer than these chinese tablets. If you find one in a mint condition.
HDMI mini to HDMI cable when tomorrow I try
Tell me I remembered
I select under USB tab legacy on
What's and what do that
I also under screen have selected HDMI.
If I sure this, because, the tablet is on,screen is off
Usb charge only,keyboard is off
China tablet same china microsd card.
But THL is a China phone and work great and I have from 7 years paying $178,
But I don't love to loose, I wants revenge,i sell PC and repairs from 8 years, no one in my life I have destroyed.
Bye
Hello, this is a wrong section[not specific] but it's urgent and it wouldn't let me create a proper thread due to spam.
I used the flashtool to flash my firmware 43.0.A.7.55 with an older version, 4.46 and it worked smoothly but i still had no perma root. I figured i'd get root by simply getting a custom ftf but that did not work. Soo...[sorry] i got a 7.70 firm  because i was already taking a risk with perma rooting so why not go further? I did do research on if i could go with a higher firm than the original and there were stated it's possible but the originals and futures ftf architecture had to fit or something. So i went with it and got a red text stating it only red 98% of the ftf and that i would need drivers for my device now. I had the correct drivers for flashing an older firm so am i supposed to have newer ones for 7.70? So i tried all button combinations, it wouldn't start blinking. I took off the battery connector that was attached to the battery[fk xperia phones] which was insane for me because i was used to just simply taking the battery of, so i connected the usb back to the pc/or wall and then the red led started blinking. I tried different combinations of holding different buttons together ranging from 1 second to 30 seconds and it still did not work. Someone over these forums menioned it'd help if you'd take the battery off, hold the power button and vol up while connecting the battery back so it would supposedly fix something, but it didn't. I let the phone charge from the wall for 3 hours also to see that legendary 1% i'm supposed to get from charging it that long. I might have tried all solutions besides odin and sp tool. Someone mentioned draining the battery to 0 and charging it back but i have not yet tested that since this all happened today. What is strange is people over hard brick threads state that device manager can't detect their device but mine detects an unknown device and what's annoying is it keeps doing that plugging in noise over time and also does it with a rythm when i hold the power button and vol up. It's detecting something i'm sure but is it any help for me? no clue. So is this a soft brick or hard brick and is there a way to fix it without returning it? Because i wont probably get far with stating i left it charging for the whole night. Sorry if you couldn't understand **** , i'm still learning English.
Please leave out all negative comments about how it's all my fault because i'll simply ignore you. [i know it's my fault] :silly:

Did you try Sony's PC Companion Tool https://support.sonymobile.com/za/xperia-companion/ I think if the Red LED is blinking there is still hope that phone can be recovered using this tool. :fingers-crossed:
Use the Repair function.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I think both the PC and Sony's PC Companion Tool both did not detect the drivers i forced before using the specific flashing tool and all i got was an unknown device. Maybe i can force new and original drivers for the phone and get it working again. I will try to quickly find new drivers and respond back!
Best regards,
Norman
