I have a Canadian model SM-G950W which is a Snapdragon one.I have noticed there is a root available although not straightforward.
Even if i successfully root my phone,i am not sure if there are any custom roms that i can flash.
Can anyone advise if there are any roms available i can flash ?

No there aren't any roms because your variant has a locked bootloader.
There will never be a custom Rom for the snapdragon phones. At least not the north American phones anyway.
There will only be custom systems, which debloated systems. Nothing else, we can't get a new kernel, just new system.

Which GSM GS5 variant is the best to buy (Unlocked on amazon, etc.) for ease of root/custom roms? Why?
I want to buy a new unlocked device online and can't seem to find a decent guide on the differences between the varoius models of the S5.
Thanks in advance!

get the G-900F support almost all custom roms
G900F is the global variant so yeah... I also recommend getting that variant.
I have the w8. It is good very easy to root. It seems to be able to use a lot of roms except none of the ones for the h model. The bad thing is not being able to get 32gb version imo
Dont buy g900h. It does not have any AOSP custom roms or even a proper custom rom except deodexed roms.
Xposed for lollipop doesnt work well with stock samsung touchwiz hence even a rooted g900h wont be able to take advantage of it.
Hi Friends,
Hope you're all having a great new year. So last time I was lurking the S7E forums, we had a leaked Engineering Bootloader that was used to acquire root on all US Snapdragon models, albeit, with a lot performance issues and etc.
I came here to glance as well as all other variant forums for the SD model and now we have Root for every model, with even ROMs being baked like the Echo ROM for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T models, usually the toughest to achieve these things on. I'm trying to read through the forums, but I fear I'm missing the details, that will help me pull the trigger for getting the device or not.
Can one of you very experienced, knowledgeable, and kind members educate me on the latest?
1. Do we have unlocked Bootloader and Root for all US carrier S7Es? How is it done? I use people using Flashfire. So no TWRP?
2. Does this process still trip Knox and render Samsung Pay to never be used again on the device?
3. If I bought the Verizon variant, for example, can I root, unlock Bootloader, and etc, and then return to stock, to return to the store in case I don't like the phone?
4. Xposed Framework working for all models?
Much appreciate your responses, any and all of them in advance! Thanks!
1. No public unlocked Bootloader on any US variant. Flashfire works but no custom recovery
2. Right now with eng Kernel and custom(ish) roms like Echo don't trip Knox since it is still the U firmware of the s7
3. You can root and jump to roms like echo or other stockish roms and return to normal and return to store but no unlocked bootloader
4. Far as I know Xposed works on most if not all (I have mine on and Att variant running Echo) It is installed/Flashed via Flashfire and is a custom version.
Since we still need the leaked Eng Kernel we still have massive performance and battery lose. There are guides to alleviate these issues but its still not as good as stock. Even roms like echo require it for root. So remember that before you jump in

There is no bootloader unlock for the US carrier variants of the device as of yet, senior forums members are guessing there probably won't be, either. What is being done successfully is rooting via an engineering kernel. Visit the carrier-specific sub-forum for your S7E model to ensure you're using the appropriate method and files when flashing. Flashfire is being used after the fact, for things like xposed. There is no custom recovery option for any of the US models that I'm aware of.2. Does this process still trip Knox and render Samsung Pay to never be used again on the device?
None of the outlined processes will trip Knox, as they don't modify or replace the bootloader. Samsung Pay should still work fine when rooted, as far as I've read.3. If I bought the Verizon variant, for example, can I root, unlock Bootloader, and etc, and then return to stock, to return to the store in case I don't like the phone?
The Verizon variant has some of the better documentation and support for root, but AT&T and T-Mo carrier models can also be rooted. I'm currently running the firmware for the T-Mo variant on my AT&T model and loving it. I'm not rooted, as the engineering kernel is absolute crap in terms of performance/battery life balance, but it is a fluid stock experience w/out bloatware.4. Xposed Framework working for all models?
As far as I know, yes.
It's been awhile since I have owned a Samsung and I'm about to get a Note 4 so I was wondering what Android 7.0 Roms are out that will work with the AT&T Snapdragon model. I see Roms for all the international models and even the T-Mobile variants but I don't see anything for the AT&T variant. I will have to brush up on my flashing and Rom'ing skills as it's been too long since I have done it but I am familiar with doing all this. Thanks guys.

There is no custom ROMs for at&t model to be honest. At&t lock there devices down completely so at present there is no root, no twrp and no ROMs. Dont think there ever will be
callumbr1 , yeah, I have been doing allot of research and it's very disappointing. But there is always getting a t mobile device unlocked and still being able to enjoy some Nougat love.....
Hi there,
Quick question, Is there any TWRP and AOSP ROMs such as lineage os or Resurrection Remix OS available for US version of S7 edge ? ( G935T, G935P or G935A).
Sorry for noob question but, I cant seem to find any thread which mentions US models for aosp roms.
Thanks
Boot loaders are locked down tight, Not TWRP or custom roms. You can root, and do some mods like Viper4android, and Xposed, but that is about it.

Thanks for reply. Just few more question ? I have G935P with T-Mobile carrier and want to switch carrier roms to
T-mobile or unlocked version. any suggestion on that.
I did little research on that, I can see that all snapdragon models ROMS are interchangeable. But I am confused as G935U has different CSS such as TMB and VZW. and G935T has TMB. so how come unlocked phone such as G935U has CSS of TMB / shouldn't be it general css?
Also, I am concerned about partition size on different models as I can't seem to find PIT file for G935P or G935U to compare with ?
and what about KNOX counter after switching different carrier ROM ? is samsung pay work after flash ?
Thanks in advance for clearing my confusions.
So I'm looking to pick up a Galaxy S8 because it seems to have more development than my Pixel XL but I would like to know any recommendations on which Model is the best for unlocking and rooting/custom roms I have T-Mobile in the USA so it would be preferable to be compatible with that carrier

There is the SamPWND method for rooting it includes using adb t though, as far as custom roms there are none, we have locked bootloader's and it doesn't look like that'll change any time soon. Also once rooted, you can only charge to 80% only. The best we've got are the Oreo beta firmware, that's about it. The only one that has custom roms is the international version G950F but from what I've seen it doesn't work well on US networks.
S8 does have a handful of ROMs but as of now, there's not even an official LineageOS ROM for S8. Surely pixels are bound to have several devs contributing. One more thing, s9 is just a few months away, so I'd rather wait if I were you.
get the exynos version if you want root the snapdragon root is very limited and there are hardly an roms for it. i have a g950f i use the batman rom and the notorious kernal.
