Note 4 and Samsung S5 (trle/klte) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I've been following up with the LineageOS ROM. Just as much as Resurrection Remix. However; using a N4 which is (correct me if I'm wrong.) a buffed S5. The chipsets are different! I know that but the majority of the firmware aside from Note functions. Is it possible for these two devices framware to be vise-versa compatible? As in unzipping a klte ROM or trtle rom, and flashing it? Sure there'd be changes to be made but what kind of would need to?
@ripee, @_mone, @Chainfire.
Sounds stupid but I'm interested.

I think the snapdragon variants of both note 4 and s5 have same processor, i.e SD 805.
The exynos variant of note 4 has Exynos 5433 and that of s5 has 5422.
Irrespective of which processor they have, there is a difference in display. S5 has a full hd 1080p display, whereas note 4 has a quad hd 1440p display.
However, by making some changes in the firmware, the snapdragon variants can share roms.

From what I know, there is a note 4 room ported to the s5, ManuN5pro or something.

There are too many other differences in the hardware component manufacturers and models, as evidenced by the vastly different blobs used between the S5 and Note 4. If only it were as simple as a few changes in the source code...

What model should I buy? SM-G900H or SM-G900F?

Hi, I want to get a new Galaxy S5 and I am not pretty sure which model should I buy.
My carrier does not support LTE, I think it will be supported in a year and a half.
Which model has better performance without thinking about the need of LTE?
Which processor has better performance? Exynos 5 Octa or Snapdragon 801?
Thanks!
I am using lte model but I don't turn on the lte data. I think hsdpa+ is fast enough. Of course octa core were faster than the lte model. But if we look s4 device, snapdragon model were support by many developers

so I understand that the Exynos 5 Octa has better performances than the Snapdragon 801 right?
So you recommend me to buy the SM-G900H?

1. Snapdragon version if ure into gaming cos it has a slightly better gpu though the Mali T628 is powerful enough.. If ure into flashing custom roms, the snapdragon version will obviously have better developer community!
2. Strictly based on CPU performance, exynos version will be better..
Buy wisely!

So if I'm in the development community the snapdragon will give me better future development support?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah it's true for development support. But bare in mind that exynos version was faster and the battery life is longer

Yes definitely..
Exynos 5 Octa.
SD801 version has LTE, better GPU optimisation for HD games, better developer support, higher clock speed(dunno if that's an advantage).
Exynos version has a faster CPU(According to benchmarks and due to HMP), possibly better battery life(big.LITTLE is supposed to aid that), maybe lesser heating (according to @AndreiLux), and a little smoother(according to a few people).
Gaming is not that bad on the Exynos and it plays most HD games flawlessly(check the gaming tests on youtube).
In the end, they are not that difderent from each other. If LTE is a must for you or you need more ROMs, get the Snapdragon. Else, get the Exynos.

What about the Wolfson DAC and voodoo sound? Wouldn't that be a big plus for the Exynos?

I'm not sure whether the Exynos S5 actually has the Wolfson DAC.
But of course, that is a big plus for the Exynos if it is present.

WM5110E Wolfson DAC is integrated in the Exynos version, which is an audio chip capable of giving high quality sound output through the headphone jack. Samsung usually messes up the software side so someone, usually Supercurio, has to fix it with a mod a.k.a voodoo sound!

So the Exynos model can give higher quality of sound output?
And why does the snapdragon has better development support than the Exynos? Because every year before this one the Exynos models were the international ones and consequently the more popular with better development support like the i9300 and i9500

It should if the software side is on par with the DAC. The other problem would be remedied in the next flagship model as the Exynos chip would be accompanied with an Intel LTE modem apparently, which would eliminate the need for a Snapdragon variant!
Regarding voodoo for S5, or any other device, I wonder if that will continue, since Supercurio is now part of CyanogenMod/One Plus team.

About better development, you should consider that this only applies to AOSP, if you like CM, ParanoidAndroid and so on go for the S801, if you don't then buy the Exynos.

Oh now I understand, the nexus has the same processor unit right? the snapdragon 800 and that means more AOKP roms compatible with this model right? What about stock ROMS? Most of them should support the exynos too?
I have another question, my brother is in Hong Kong right now? Are those models SM-G900H and SM-G900F are available to purchase there?
Thanks a lot!

GALAXY NOTE 4 (EXYNOS) or GALAXY NOTE 4 (SNAPDRAGON)????????

Hi may I ask whats the difference between GALAXY NOTE 4 (EXYNOS) or GALAXY NOTE 4 (SNAPDRAGON)????????
Which one is the better version to buy?
Two are with different chipset, two different processors, both CPU and GPU. Some might say Exynos is faster in benchmarks and all, and its true too, but Snapdragon is the one with better XDA support I think. So choose according to your preference.

can any one else comment on this which has better for xda support?
Which one has android 6?
I see alot support for Snapdragon but what about the N910F this has dual sim not sure if its has alot support here.
NERVERMIND LOL
I have owned both. The difference I noticed was the F version ran hotter and the battery did not last as long as the C version. I am now using N910C.
It is generally mentioned that the F version had more rom and kernels because it has snapdragon processor. I never rooted my device yet as I use Knox, so I cannot comment on dev. support. You can browse the subforums and see for yourself. Good luck.
Snapdragon by far. Just look at the development section as far as custom roms go. Way more selections for snapdragon

S7 Edge Rom Port for S6

Just wondering will a s7 rom be ported to the galaxy s6?
re: I dont see any reason to upgrade from s6 to s7
Wrong forum for this. Ask in the s6 section. Regardless though, considering they are totally different socs, and it's closed source, the odds of that are low.

International S7 isn't a completely different SOC, just the next generation.
Yes it is complete different we have m1 mongoose cores and kyro cores mate completely different to the arm cores

Considering its got totally different core design and a new GPU among other other portions of the SOC. It doesn't really matter if it's only the next generation...it's still completely different. The "port" linked above isn't really a port. It's just the framework and apps copied over to the s6.

Exynos version - FM radio

Is it included? I know the QC variant has it but it looks like the international version doesn't.
Not a massive loss to me but if anyone knows for certain then that would be great.
Exynos versions never had FM Radio afaik, my S6 didn't have it and now my S8 doesn't have it as well
exynos chipm doesnt have it, snapdragon does. similarly the exynos gets a complete **** DAC, the snapdragon gets a good one.
I quite like having a FM tuner in my phone. I just wish the Snapdragon varent had could get an unlocked bootloader so we could get the best of both worlds. Qualcomm releasing updated kernel sources, and rooting with hardware supporting demestic cell and broadcast radio support.

Elaborate please. I have exynos version and can't complain about music quality and afaik s7 exynos had better DAC than snapdragon version.

Hmm thought it was the other way around. All i know is my exynos sounds complete crap compared to my old S5. It sounds flat and lifeless. This is using the same 320k mp3 files and the same SE530 earphones i was using on the S5. Ive heard people say the SD S8 sounds good.
This statement is not right. Galaxy J5 had Exynos and had FM radio. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_j5_prime-8342.php
It is right, No exynos S-series has had it (for a long time anyway, S2 or S3 might have).
Nice resurrection of a 2 month old dead thread btw.

Best ROM's for SM-900T? LineageOS 18.1, or crDroid, or something else??

Hi all! So, I used to flash a lot years ago. I recently just decided to check and see some stuff still available for this phone! I want to flash something desperately on my phone!!
Can people please say what ROM they prefer and why? And what the differences are between the different ROMs available?
I see LineageOS and crDroid. Are there others that are good and availale for the phone?
Which would have better battery life? And faster/more responsive? More feature rich? The least buggy, and most reliable?
Also, what are the ways to backup the phone now?? I've seen full phone backup using TWRP?
What about Titanium?
Any other methods?
Thank you!

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Following on from the success of the Galaxy Note 2, Samsung have managed to cram in a large amount of technology into the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Powered by a Quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm processor and 3GB RAM, the Note 3 is by no means a slouch. The display is 5.7" at 1920x1080 and 386ppi. The Note...
