Anyone else having this issue? My phone gets heat up, stops charging and gives this message.
"Maximum charging limit has been reached at high temperatures!"
It's only 20c temperature here in Melbourne (but clear sky and sunny). I thought Nokia would fix this issue in 7.1.2 but its still there.
I get this message even with normal usage like, Waze and Spotify running and nothing else.

I have a SPV M500 for a while, and now, when it coulder outside the phone simply locks afther a while. The green led keeps blinking but a can't receive calls, if a reminder is set, it dousent react, and the only solution to revive the phone is a fost reset (or to remove the battery cover a few time). Does anyone experience this problem? Is it normal that a 15-18 C temperature to freeze these phone model? Does anyone knows a solution? I have the last BigStore ROMs installed, could it be a software prob?
That behaviour may happen in subzero, but it should never happen within the 10 degree range! Batteries tend to be the component most sensitive to the cold, so I suggest trying another battery. Or for now, try conditioning the battery to increase the chemical activity in it - this may help its resistance to the cold, in addition to possibly extending its battery life. Conditioning the battery is basically letting the battery drop to near zero with intense usage (like looping a video or heavy gaming) before charging it, charging it to full and letting it drop to zero again through intense usage - this cycle may have to repeated 2 to 3 times to get results.
WOW it must be cold where you are.
HI,
I use my XDA to do count stock in frigdes that are 0 to -16 degrees and i have had no problems?
Maybe its because im only in the fridge for a few minutes. But i count everyday and i have no problems.
I'm pointing to a software prob too. I have those 'it wont turn back on' things (hot or cold) happen and the only way to fix it is with a soft reset.
Maybe cleaning the contacts of the battery would help.
I really dont think to be a software problem, cause it's happening evena after a couple of hard resets, and with the latest original rom for the model. I tryed even to empty and recharce a couple of times the internal battery, thinking that im might need "formating" due to usure. Ive bought an extra battery of 1300mAh, but all is the same. I-ve installed a prog callet Batti, that shows the battery pover and alo the temperature of the external battery, but it shows a 2.5-2.8 C INDOORE, IN MY HAND, where it sould be around 25-28 C.
I observed that the phoone freezes when the batti shows 2.1-2.2 C (i think 21-22 C). Can someone try this program (it's free) to see what temperature its showing?
Tx
Can someone please use a temperature reading software, to see at what temperature works usualy the phone. I'm using Batti, that shows 2.4-2.6 C when it should show 24-26C. Tx.
So I did the touchstone wireless charging mod and about 2/3 of the time, everything works great. For the remaining 1/3 of the time, something weird is happening that I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into.
In these instances, I'll put the phone on the palm base and it plays the sound and gives me the notification message saying it's wirelessly charging. However, the battery continues to drain. For example, I put it on at 44% battery life and I came back 3-4 hours later with the phone at 41% battery life. The notification bar showed it was indeed charging.
When I look in SystemPanel, it shows "System Processes" as using a major amount of battery for those 3-4 hours. Inside of it, it says "irq/343-max7769" as the top system process hogging CPU power. When I look at CPU usage, it was fixed at 30% for the entire time I was charging. Soon as I took it off the charger, the CPU usage immediately went down.
Anyone have any ideas?
For reference, I'm running ForceROM 2.3 (yes I know I haven't upgraded yet) with the "KT SGS4 (6/10/13)" kernel.
Anyone have any thoughts?
As a side note, I've noticed if I touch the screen for a few seconds after wireless charging starts the problem doesn't appear to happen. I'm going to test some more to see.
None of this happens when charging with a cable.
Never mind, just a placebo effect. Back to starting point.
Attached are two pictures of the same screen (one just scrolled down). You can see on the battery graph how it continued to drain even after charging started and at that same point it was a solid 30% cpu in the other screenshot.
1-2ish hours later the battery shot up.
Edit: dumb client wouldn't let me attach the second image...
was wondering if anyone notices a significant battery drain with 4.4 on dalvik.rebooting with ART to see if there is a difference.
looks like ART is holding up the battery nicely so far.
I had massive drain with Google Play service keeping the phone awake 98% of the time. This is no longer happening after reboot.
one thing i've noticed with ART besides the hopeful battery improvement, is i cant play games when using ART.that sucks. bsplayer also will not open, just lock up my device.
No problems here. 5 hours screen on time... Loving it.

I flashed factory image of kitkat and I noticed that my phone is getting very hot while charging even when I was not using it.
So I started investigating and I noticed that the processor, which should idle at 384 mhz,is actually staying at 1 GHz(only 2 cores).
I know it can be because of mp decision but then I changed screen off time to 1 mins and still it hovers between 1 Ghz to 1.1 Ghz(only 2 cores) which in turns increases the battery temperature (around 42 degrees centigrade) and may lead to slow charging.I cleared the stats and let system monitor record fresh stats for 30 mins and result was same. I think it could be a bug or some kind of background task which gets triggered only on charging(maybe processes like trimming etc) . I was not able to identify the process as most of the wake lock detector and process monitor apps are not compatible with kitkat.
I used system monitor app to monitor all this. Anybody else facing this issue???
Thank you
NOTE: I restarted after all this and battery level was at 70% and temperature was around 43 degrees after restart everything seemed normal and temperature gradually went to 35 degrees (checked when battery was around 95%).

I experienced a hot phone with my first 4.4 flash but don't have that after reflashing. I get really quick charges. And a nice batt. Life. Still with the same problem though.... I can't play zombie tsunami in ART mode. I'll try uninstalling then reinstalling to see if it works
Hi guys and girls,
I've got my A5 a few days back, and at start it worked great. I've messed up with a lot of software, tried everything out, and instead of uninstalling everything I thought it'd be best to do a factory reset. That's where my problems started.
While I set up the phone and installed all the apps (updated) that came with the phone, connected to a 100Mbps optical internet via AC wifi, I lost about 15% of battery. Okay, who knows what the phone needed to do, lets move on.
Next day I was just using Whatsapp, messaging with my gf, and the phone was a bit warm with 20-25% brightness (auto-off). The battery temperature was 32-33C, and I used an infrared thermometer and measured 33.5C on the back of the phone at the Samsung logo. Then I just browsed the settings, setting up my phone a bit more, and it was still getting warm, getting anywhere between 31 to 33C on the battery and around 33C with an IR thermometer. I still can't say much about battery drainage but the phone is getting pretty warm even while browsing the web or doing non-intensive tasks.
Does the A5 2017 get warm or is it just me? Should I RMA it?
Have a520f, 33C is near average. But it's also dependent on the weather. Fast charging or charging with the screen off will raise it. If it wasn't always like that, maybe something in the background is using the CPU, checking for updates or notifications. The CPU/GPU is like a car engine, running at various 'speeds' and 'weights it is carrying', and it does get warm. Only if it gets hot, then it's a problem. Many apps could do those checks once the screen is turned on. Uninstalling/changing settings will only help with battery life (percent drain), the temperature is ok. The a520f (and a510f) also has touchboost, temporarily raising the CPU clock when the screen is touched. Might be noticeable with background tasks while using a keyboard.
Thanks friend. Didn't know about "Touchboost", you opened it up for me a bit there.
While the screen is off, It's perfectly fine. Once I take it in my hands, it starts to get warm around the Samsung logo. It's probably screen + apps + nowhere to dissipate heat, but I wasn't noticing it at start. I've only had it for a couple of days now. I don't know about the battery drainage, with a charge lasting me ~40hrs with 7h SOT I wouldn't say it's draining at all - though my screen is at low brightness, 1/4 max.
Just wanted to see what you other guys are getting as I thought it was high. My ambient is around 24-25C all year long. I've seen tests where people weren't getting more than 30C at all, but as you said, it's the ambient that dictates that.
Idk if this is only with mine but sometimes I turn the phone off completely and put it to charge and it happens that it can reach like 35°C without touching it. Now the phone is plugged, I only browse with chrome facebook.. and it is like 37°c. That can happen when it is not plugged too. Using wifi seems to be better though.
I dont think I have an important battery drain because it can last about 6-8h SOT normal usage.
Onr other thing, when I turn on the mobile hotspot, the battery drains way more than usually and heats up too.
I'm running on Android 8.1. This does not annoy me as often but when the phone is charging while feeling a little bit warm, it shows a high temp warning then slows down the charge. A second later, it shows a normal temp and resumed normal charge speed notification, then it shows the high temp warning again..
It's annoying especially when I connect my phone to my laptop and use it because the repeating high temp low temp warnings keep popping up.

Sounds like an issue. Try different cable. Also factory reset. If those do not help, you should bring it to where you bought it from. This might become dangerous (explosion scenario). Also, you are degrading battery incredibly quickly while having it at high temperatures.
This is a common thing, it's because it's charging. It's also stated in the Support app that comes with the phone. It's normal it's heating up when using while charging. Nothing is wrong with the phone.
It was annoying me too, so I just disabled the app. Or maybe I had it backed up and uninstalled with Titanium backup. Either way, no more stupid warnings.
Yeah I only experience this issue when I was playing heavy games then after that I'll put my phone on charge while using it or playing games
