Hi,
I recieved my Oneplus 5 three weeks ago and for two days my volume buttons are not clickable. It works fine though.
From time to time it goes back to normal.
Anyone had that problem ? Is there a quick fix or do I have to RMA the phone
Thanks

But with no OP5 in stock anymore wouldn't that be a problem ?

No not really. You are out of the 14 day return. They will just send it out and get it fixed.

Thanks for your help I'll check with them on Monday
EDIT :
It's kinda weird, if I blow into the space around the buttons it's working a lot better than it get worse again.
Try pressing the buttons really hard with your fingernail, mine were stuck all the way in and didn't move when pressed, but then they were back to normal after doing that a few times

Hi!
I have a QTek S200 that had it's speaker dead and the power button was stuck. The stuck power button means that no matter when or how I pressed it NOTHING HAPPENED but sometimes randomly (when I was nowhere near the button) an "Are you sure you want to shutdown?" dialog appeared like I had the button pressed.
I sent the phone to service and they changed the speaker and told me that the button requires a motherboard change and it costs somewhere around $500. That was obviously too much money so I told them to send it back like that.
My phone arrived and the power button was working perfectly (so far as I know they did nothing about it) for a few months. Then again the power button died and started behaving the same way (this time there was no problem with the speaker).
I'm using a custom ROM but I also tried with the original I backed up after I got the phone, but seems the problem is not in the software. Anyone has any idea what can cause this and if it's possible to fix it?

It's almost certainly hardware. If you feel like opening up your Prophet, you could check whether the power button is connected correctly...
$500 seems way too much given that it's possible to get a device for less than that!

Is the button on the case connected properly? It may be pushing in constantly rather than being where it should be.

I'd guess that it's the switch internals, or the mother board in general...

If it's the switch, I think you should be able to find a replacement... If it's the mother board, it may be cheaper to get a new device...

The Touch Pro will be good!
You could possibly try removing the power button connections all together, and see if that rectifies the problem... So you wouldn't be able to turn it off, but there is software to do that!

This is a very good idea indeed! I only wonder what about the screen? I can't really remember if you can turn on your screen with the other keys when it's off (I used to open/close my SD card slot to bring the screen to life when I was stuck with the phone)?
You can change the lock settings for keys (so that other keys can wake up the device) in Start->Settings->System (tab) and the "Power" option (I think).

Good luck with that!
one thing i forgot to mention with this was that my batter usage was INSANE when the power button is in "stuck mode".. on idle the phone goes dead in cca 72 hours..
when it first came back with the fixed speaker (and button) the battery issue was gone.. but now the button is stuck again the power issue is back!

that is also my idea but nothing can be seen on the motherboard or the housing.. maybe it's the switch itself that is broken and that means i have to unsolder it and see what happens then.. :S

Umm... I'd guess the hardware itself is screwed if nothing else has an effect...

Maybe it misses being on and wants to be nice?
I have no ideas really...
Okay I've been having this issue since I got my Nexus a couple of weeks ago. Several times a day I'll go to take it out of my pocket or pick it up off a table and when I go to hit the unlock button at the top nothing happens, the screen never wakes up. The trackball will still be lighting up as always but nothing on the screen. I have to pull the battery in order to get it to reboot so I can use it.
Due to this issue and getting dust under my screen I called HTC for a replacement. I got my replacement yesterday and got it all set up again. Within the first 2 hours I picked it up off my table and it wouldn't wake up. And this has probably 4 times since I got the phone yesterday.
Is ANYONE have this issue? I think it's a little weird it happened on my original device and now on my replacement.
Never happened to mine so far that I have noticed. Not that this information helps you any but...
ive bought 2 for me and one for a friend. None have any issues at all so far
I haven't had this problem...
just for the hell of it have you tried restoring it.

Maybe you're just not pushing the button hard enough, or you need to find a "sweet spot."
I've never had this issue. Is it possible that you have installed an application that could be the issue?
i had this problem too for the first time last night. My notification light was flashing... pressing power button did not wake up.... I even long pressed power buttoin in the hope of getting the shutdown option, but nothing... i did a quick google search to see if there was a way of soft resetting, but couldnt find one, so pulled out the battery.
Its been fine since
No I only bought one of them but had to do an exchange on it because of it not waking up and the screen was getting dust under it. The exchange I got in the mail is still doing the wake up thing.
It's not due to pushing the button wrong I know that much haha. I'm a pretty skilled button presser
Well at least one person knows what I'm talking about. Let me know if it happens to you again
I have 2 nexus ones and one of then does have this issue. I have had it happen 3 to 5 times.

Have you rooted either of them? I'm thinking it's some type of software glitch that might be fixed once new ROMs get cooked up but I've been holding off on rooting to preserve my warranty because of this issue.
Never had that problem.
Just so the forum doesn't just fill up with complaints.

iv been having this prob with the mt3g, tmobile is sending me a new phone im thinking its the htc keyboard apk or the nexus news widget apk, i have never had this problem till i put these two apps on my mt3g
Oh man! I thought I was the only one with this issue! It sometimes a couple of times a day and it's extremely inconvenient! I thought maybe my phone had gotten too hot and it froze or something but I could never figure out why it really happened. Mine is also rooted so maybe that's the issue? I hope someone finds the cause of this problem and even better, a solution, soon. It's pretty annoying, and one of the very few things that I don't like about my new partner.
I must be a lucky sob, beacause my nexus has no problems at all, working vib, no dust under screen, all buttons work, no problems at all (knocks on wood)
I'm having one issue and it can be annoying. Sometimes my screen just doesn't respond and if it does it's miles off. like if I press in the middle, the menu pops up as if the calibration is off by an inch or so. The annoying part is when a call comes in and I can't slide to answer which makes me miss a proper button.
My N1 is not rooted and a reboot normally sorts it out.
Edit: I forgot to mention that this almost always happens after I plug the charger like it is now arrrrgghhhhhhh.
I'm not having any issue with power on button and my N1 is not rooted (yet).
Hey there
I just started having with my power button. If I click it usually does one of two options . 1 doesn't respond at all. 2 turns on and immediately off.
It just started this week.
Any way to fix this ? Its kinda annoying .
Do you guys have this problem as well?

If your rooted, you can try ''Touch Control''
It's on the playstore. It enables to lock and unlock your device just by sweeping the screen.
You need to be rooted and have a kernel which supports modules (franco kernel for example).
I can provide more help if you want to go through this process.
If you really want to have the power button fixed, replace it. It could be the outer part, or the switch (small circuit board).
Both can be ordered from eBay.
you can also use volume rocker to wake... but you need a custom rom
I have the same problem.. It started becoming worse after the 4.3 update... Guess it's a software bug... I'm expecting a fix.. Let's hope so..

Hi Guys,
Today my S8+ suddenly stopped working only blue light keep blinking I restarted it by using power key and down volume button holding together. After restarting everything works fine. Is there any problem or nothing to be bothered about this for time being.
As my phone is only 5 days old .
i wouldn't worry about it if a restart fixed it. Plus you're under a warranty!
Today happened second time Amy idea to find what causes it.
As usual u should go for a full wipe and see what happen.
Full wipe in the sense we have to do factory reset you mean
I'm having similar issues... Factory reset didn't help.

I bought three wireless fast chargers at bb and, although I am one hundred miles away I'm ready to return them. the flashing wakes Mr up and phone is discharging. so I'll get my $
100 or do back and buy more wired chargers.
any answers?
Finally yesterday I replaced my S8+ with new one. I asked about the cause of this issue n Samsung repair engineers told it's because if software issue.
Hi ,
I recently had a bad time getting our of the DFU mode, had to open the hand set, move things around and hoping to get through this all, now that the handset is alive again, the Back and Recent Capacitive buttons are not working, however the Home button is working fine.... I then proceeded to unlock the boot loader and loaded the Vortex rom but it still has not fixed my phone, so is this something which i screwed up during my dissembling of the phone or can this still be salvaged??

I would try and open it again to look and see if anything is loose with the connectors for the capacitive buttons.

I think maybe on the side where the battery is resting. I'll have to go take a look again to confirm but I'm in a lecture at college right now so when I have time I'll come back and confirm it.

I think it hasn't got a dedicated connector, it might be the same connector as the screen. Maybe seeing JerryRigEverything's video would be better though

I'm not sure if Vortex ROM has this setup, however did you try the button swap in settings? I have seen this happen before with a teardown but haven't seen a solid solution.
