Hi!
I have a QTek S200 that had it's speaker dead and the power button was stuck. The stuck power button means that no matter when or how I pressed it NOTHING HAPPENED but sometimes randomly (when I was nowhere near the button) an "Are you sure you want to shutdown?" dialog appeared like I had the button pressed.
I sent the phone to service and they changed the speaker and told me that the button requires a motherboard change and it costs somewhere around $500. That was obviously too much money so I told them to send it back like that.
My phone arrived and the power button was working perfectly (so far as I know they did nothing about it) for a few months. Then again the power button died and started behaving the same way (this time there was no problem with the speaker).
I'm using a custom ROM but I also tried with the original I backed up after I got the phone, but seems the problem is not in the software. Anyone has any idea what can cause this and if it's possible to fix it?

It's almost certainly hardware. If you feel like opening up your Prophet, you could check whether the power button is connected correctly...
$500 seems way too much given that it's possible to get a device for less than that!

Is the button on the case connected properly? It may be pushing in constantly rather than being where it should be.

The Touch Pro will be good!
You could possibly try removing the power button connections all together, and see if that rectifies the problem... So you wouldn't be able to turn it off, but there is software to do that!

This is a very good idea indeed! I only wonder what about the screen? I can't really remember if you can turn on your screen with the other keys when it's off (I used to open/close my SD card slot to bring the screen to life when I was stuck with the phone)?
You can change the lock settings for keys (so that other keys can wake up the device) in Start->Settings->System (tab) and the "Power" option (I think).

Good luck with that!
one thing i forgot to mention with this was that my batter usage was INSANE when the power button is in "stuck mode".. on idle the phone goes dead in cca 72 hours..
when it first came back with the fixed speaker (and button) the battery issue was gone.. but now the button is stuck again the power issue is back!

Looks like a hardware issue, and to fix that you'll probably need to change the physical button.
To power the phone on, just connect it to the charger, it will start.
I too have the same problem, just started around this thread's start date too.
Oh yeah, and connecting it to the charger doesn't work, and the only way I can get any life out of it is to pop the battery out, put it back in, but even then it only goes to the "SAMSUNG" logo screen and then blacks out again.
I feel like it may be the power button itself, because I managed to turn it on when I pressed the button fairly hard, so maybe the button is pressed in and stuck to some extent?

In your case it's definitely the physical button and you'll need to change it. Maybe there are some video tutorials on how to clean/change it, check it out.

Then it's not the hw button itself, I stand corrected. Looks more like a soft/firmware issue, considering the power adapter doesn't power up the phone.

I have had my Focus for one year now, and last night it shut its self off and will not turn back on. It has randomly shut off four or five times in the past two weeks, and I thought it was a hold button issue because I would go to lock my screen and nothing would happen, and then a few seconds later it would show the power down screen. I would always swipe up to navigate out of it but sometimes it would end up shutting off anyway. So now I can't get it to start up by pressing the hold button, but when I insert the battery it will show the Samsung screen for a few seconds and then shut down. Any Help ?

It is either the power button or the battery. Search the forum for "power button" and you'll get threads with similar issues as yours. In most cases it is the power button, though.
^ Do you really think its power button issue? Because once in a while when i press the power button the phone starts but will shut down after the samsung logo.

How many seconds after starting up does it shut down?
Do this test: when powered down, lean the phone so the power button is pointing to the ground and tap a few times on the phone (to unstuck the power button). Then connect the power from the outlet (to start up the phone). Try this a few times. If it starts up normally even once, then your problem is the power button.

Finally i got it fixed. It costed me around $30 US dollars. Service center guy told me that he did the following
1) Replaced ON/OFF Switch
2) Replaced charging connector which was burnt.
I recently bought and used Batteries from ebay.com and they might screwed the phone? no idea..
switch failure has nothing to do with dodgy batteries but just shoddy workmanship from sammy, much like the sgs3 which also equips another horrendously fragile on/off switch
by the way, did they replace just the internal microswitch or the switch as a whole, button and all?

Note :- Its NOT a software problem ..Service guys did not reset or make changes to the phone related to software/OS.

Hi guys.
My Galaxy Note 3 power button has just completely stopped working. Is there a setting that turns off the power button functionality that I might have accidentally pressed?
Cheers.
Edit: I should elaborate here. The phone is switched on, everything works as normal but no matter how many times I try it, the power button just not do anything (holding it down, pressing different areas)

Did you try a battery reset? With the phone off, can you get into either Download or Recovery mode? That would eliminate the possibility of an OS issue.

It's a dud mate. Faulty unit.
Just send it back and get it replaced.
Just send it for replacement. There's a reason phones come with a warranty that covers manufacturer defects. Whining about it to strangers in the forum is not going to fix it for you.

My power button is not working to turn the screen off. Long press works to bring up the power down menu or to do a hard shut down. It works to turn back on though. Seems to happen after I plug it into the wall charger. Restoring a nandroid backup fixes the issue.
Not sure if it's related but my PC's USB crashed after trying to plug the phone in and use USB 3.0 to transfer files. I had to refresh my W8 PC to get the USB working again.
I have the Sprint version, rooted and running JellyBomb.

I have the same problem. my power button is done for. whenever i need to start it. I plug it in and go into recovery and reboot from there. I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenoffpro&hl=en for screen timeout and lock. And you can also get exposed and gravity box and there is a status bar tweak to double tap the status bar to lock screen (put phone to sleep).
I tried everything then found the solution on another website
My note 3 has been with me for almost 2 years now and it's power button stopped working about 2-3 months ago. Until now I avoided draining the battery below 2% and was fine but just today I dropped my phone and it shut down. I knew that my power button didn't work because of hardware problems so a soft reset didn't work for me. What I found however is that if your power button is dead you can just very quickly remove and re-insert your battery and your samsung device (I have no idea if this works on other brands) automatically boots itself. I'll give the link too incase I wasn't clear enough and I hope this helps people who shared my worries.

Hello folks.
So I left my A1 charging at night, the alarm woke me up as usual in the morning. Just before leaving home I took it to check the time and then it was already "dead".
PS: The phone was never been knocked over, wet etc...
Symptoms:
- Black screen, as if was turned off / without battery;
- Buttons do not work;
- Doesn't react to any connections.
- Doesn't enters fastboot mod;
- It's not recognized by the computer;
- Also not charging.
Any help is welcome, best regards.

I'm willing to try some stuff first, even open the phone to unplug and replug the battery on the mb.

So yesterday a oppened the phone, disatached the flats and atatched then again, unfortunatelly didn't help =[.
We also made some tests and seems like it could be an issue with the battery seems like it's not charging nor receiving any charge.
Seems like the "regulator" of the battery or something like that is not working as it should.
I'm gonna try to test this a in a more acurate way, at least to be sure that it's the battery.

We also made some tests and seems like it could be an issue with the battery seems like it's not charging nor receiving any charge.
Seems like the "regulator" of the battery or something like that is not working as it should.
I'm gonna try to test this a in a more acurate way, at least to be sure that it's the battery.

The phone will power on without any battery attached at all, so remove it and see if you get life. If not, then it's not the battery.

You can try make edl usb cable first, if not work then search mi a1 test point, you'll need to jump 2 point on motherboard with wire/pin.

So yesterday i tryed to make the phone enter at the EDL mode, by jumping the 2 points on the motherboard. Unfortunately the computer didn't recognized the phone at all, i'v tryed several times.
I'm starting to think that something related to the the motherboard just died.
I'll lend it to a tecnical that can fix it or at least confirm the death of the phone to me.

Just tested it yesterday, without success.
Even with the battery disconnected and ubs at computer or charger, the phone still not giving any signal of life.
Does it mean that it must be a serious problem?

Hello mate.
I'm sry for you phone, at my case i'm starting to believe that the mb/cpu died.
I was thinking that it could be the board at the bottom (ubs, mic jac) but i have been told that it's really rare this to happen.
Yesterday i tested the battery and it's fully charged, (so the battery isn't the problem)
I'm weeling to take it at the end of the week into a tec who can test all the hardware stuff in order to know what actually have failed.
Have u also tryed to engage ur phone at EDL Mode?

Hi.
Yep also tried shorting the test points, it does not respond to anything. Just totally dead.
Its sad cause i really loved that phone. I might buy a used cheap one with a broken screen and use its main board or other parts.
Thanks Knievel
