You could change the device assistance app (Settings->Apps->Three dots->Default Apps->Device Assistance App) to, for example, "Screen Off and Lock" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock) or similar, then you would be able to turn off the screen by long pressing home.

[Q] Is there an app/widget to toggle fullscreen setting...

... in CM7 tablet tweaks?
Basically the "disable fullscreen" setting is great as it allows the status bar to stick around all the time. The only problem I've encountered is that some games don't display properly when I leave this setting on and need to uncheck it before launching the game. So I guess I'm asking if there's a way to either a) quickly toggle it from a widget/shortcut? Or if b) there's a smart app that can set it pre-game launch (similar to how CF3D Pro handles per app plugin settings.)
I'm okay with "no there's no such thing," just curious if anyone else has run into this before.
Thanks!
P.S. This is CM7 n126 on sdcard (vg method) w/ stock ADW.

The double chevron that should show up with your soft buttons when an app wants fullscreen will do exactly that. In Tablet Tweaks, right under the "Disable Fullscreen", tap "Choose unhide button" and you can pick which key will pop the status bar back up; I use "n" (home, not the default), or you can press-and-hold the power button, then pick the default (whatever that is, I've forgotten, it's not convenient for the NC).

I know about the chevron, and that does work most of the time. But I'm specifically to games that misbehave if you hit the chevron to hide the statusbar after the game's launched. What's happening to me is that the screen to zoom out to take up the extra space given up by the hidden status bar, but on screen touches will still behave as if the screen was it's previous size. So buttons, etc end up pressing in the wrong place. Does that make sense?
Off the top of my head, one game in particular that does this is FieldRunners HD. If you launch the game then hide the status bar with the chevron, the on screen presses will now be mis-aligned. But, if you toggle the check box "Disable Fullscreen" before launching, then the game will properly go full screen and work correctly.

[Q] Shortcut for lock screen?

On my NST Glowlight, I have a case that is beautiful but unfortunately covers the back power button (Verso Prologue Antique Tan, currently a steal on Amazon at $10). When I close the cover, it bumps things on the screen and either opens random books (in ReLaunch) or loses my place (in Coolreader). Does anyone know of a simple app that triggers the screen lock so I can map it to a hardware button? I set a "Lock Screen" shortcut in ReLaunch but at least half the time it doesn't work (instead, it asks if I want to power off). Thoughts?
Install Button Savior and tap its on-screen power button.

IMO Button Savior is an eyesore and I can already duplicate all of its functions with hardware button mappings. I want to be able to map power to a hardware button, which I know I can do if I have an app shortcut of some sort.
OK, I found my own solution and it works well enough that I thought I'd share.
I found a whole bunch of screen lock apps but they all require Android 2.2 or later.
Thinking outside the box, I instead downloaded a simple app called "White Screen Flashlight" and mapped it to my n button. Now if I push n the screen goes completely blank and doesn't register touch input, so it's safe. I have the added benefit that if anyone swipes my Nook and wants to see what I am reading, they get a boring empty screen when they turn it on. Sleep mode kicks in as normal.
Alternatively, use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848962 to set a Lock PIN. I combine this with a Tasker rule that disables the PIN if I'm connected to a 'friendly' WiFi network (i.e. my home WLAN) and re-enables it when I disconnect.

That is a great idea! I previously set a lock on my Nook ST (pre-Glowlight), but this time I'm simply keeping it disconnected from Google and any sensitive information. There's a bar on the screensaver that gives "please return to..." information. I figure if someone steals it, they won't get access to anything but some books, and if it's lost, a kindly soul may return it.

[Q] Turn On Screen

Is there a way or app to turn on screen by swiping without using home or power button?

Tap Tap App ( Screen On-Off )
Tap Unlock (Screen unlock)
search play.store these apps working with tap but swiping on off screen is little bit meaningless !

[Q] Navbar behaving strangely with Nova launcher

I have been struggling with this issue for long time now and this is my last shot here. My phone is rooted, stock KitKat and I use Nova launcher.
The issue:
When I turn my phone on there is not navbar in the home screen. When I open some app the navbar doesn't appear like it should. However if I press power button when some app is open (phone screen goes off) and press it again (lock screen appears) and slide to open my phone then the navbar is there. So now when the navbar is there it also stays there (even in the home screen) as long as press power button in the home screen. So every time I press power button in the home screen navbar disappear and every time I press power button when some app is open I get navbar back.
If I change back to TouchWiz everything works great. I mean navbar goes off when I'm in home screen and come back when I open some app. So far I have tried to fix this with these methods:
- Tried Apex launcher: No difference to Nova
- Installed "SoftKey Enabler" from Play Store: No effect expect when I disable it I lose navbar for good
- Manually change qemu.hw.mainkeys value 0 or 1 in build.prop: No effect expect when I put value 1 I lose navbar for good
- Installed Xposed and "App settings" module. In the "App settings" I choose Nova and then tap the option "force full screen" but there is not any effect
- Installed Gravity Box and Tasker: I used this guide here. Now navbar goes off automatic when I go to home screen and come back when I open some app but if I press power button in the home screen I lose navbar. I can get navbar back only if open app and press power button again. When I get navbar back it works great as long as I press power button home screen. Also this method is little bit laggy and Opera mini browser keeps crashing when expended desktop is on.
The reason why I want to use Nova is that with Nova my phone works very fast and smooth and I can custom many things. Also Nova support to rotate home screen in landscape what TouchWiz doesn't support. I use Sliding Bluetooth Keyboard with my phone so mostly I use my phone in landscape. I would be happy even I can get solution to keep navbar there always (even in the home screen) but best solution would be navbar to automatic disappear in home screen.
I really hope that someone could help me with issue.
help!
Anyone?

Soft Lock Option (without using power button)

Is there a native way to lock the phone using a double tap, widget, etc? Just looking for anything OTHER THAN a physical button to save wear and tear on the button. I prefer a soft button / widget, but if something is built-in, I could get used to it without having to add-on software.

Negative. No tap wake and no app. Said they were thinking about adding tap maybe in a future update
You can double home button or status bar to lock with Lineage. This function is configurable in settings, no need extra app.
If you choose to install Xposed, GravityBox has the option to dbl-tap status bar for.sleep
I use Screen Off and Lock from the playstore. If using the stock launcher, click on the icon to turn off/lock. If using Nova Launcher, set up the double tap to run the Screen off and lock program (in the Gestures & inputs). Been using it for years with no problems.
