That works, but one wonders if it is worth the effort?
Have it synonymous with my MTCD RK3188 tried and have given up dan!
Sure, you'll find an Android 6 update on the web, but it would be easier to just flash a ROM, for example. Malaysk ROM or Hal9k depending on tastes and functions, I recommend you both, whereby Malaysk ROM offers more features and finishes.

Android 4.4 Rom (e.g. MalaySK) for MTCC 5.1 Head Unit [KLD6] [RK3188]

Hello,
I have a Naviskauto Android Head Unit (Klyde, KLD6) with Android 5.1 running. Is it possible to install Android 4.4? I prefer the MalaySK Rom, but it could also be any other compatible Rom. Android 5.1 runs so slow and feels extreme laggy.
Head Unit specs:
MCU-Version: MTCC-KLD6-V2.91
Android Version: 5.1.1
Resolution: 1024*600
Build-Number: RK3188-userdebug 05082016
Kernel-Version: 3.0.101+ [email protected] #10
CPU: Quadcore
I can't find a 4.4 Rom for my MTCC Version, only 5.1.
My first thought was to downgrade to a MTCB-Version (I found some 4.4 Roms for MTCB), but I can't find out if flashing another MCU will brick my device.
I'm thankful for any help!
Edit: I found something at http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Hui_Fei_Type#Latest_MCU
"You should ONLY flash MCUs with the prefix ("MTCB or "MTCC") and manufacturer code (eg KLD, KGL, JY etc) that matches the version already installed, ie KLD MCUs only on KLD versions, KGL MCUs only on KGL versions etc the only exceptions are BN and HA versions which are interchangeable and some KLD MTCB units that can be upgraded to MTCC by flashing an MTCC MCU"
Is there a way to flash a MTCB MCU on my MTCC-Version?

I am currently using a 4.4 ROM on my MTCC unit (KLD6-2.97) As long as you don't touch the MCu you are safe.
There are currently 2 4.4 ROMs: Malaysk's and Booroondook's. I prefer Booroondook as it's pretty fast, you might want to try both and see which one suits you best. You can find both ROMs in the MTCB software development section.

Hello everyone
I have since yesterday a Joying JY-UO135N4-OBD, MCU number: TP6735D 0.43 under android 8.1 that I want to upgrade to android 9 because my OnePlus 6 is under 9 and can not connect USB on the Joying.
Is there an update?

No there is no update and I'm for 99,5% sure there will not come an update anymore now that the new Intels are coming in and the PX5s are slowly phased out.
Eunavi claims they will have a 9.0 firmware for their PX5 units this month. Maybe others will update as well.

I'm a little disgusted to learn that, I should have better information before.
Is it possible to make my Joying 8.1 compatible with my OP6 Pie in another way?
In bluetooth everything works very well but in usb (for android auto and mirror function) my OP6 sees the joying but the joying does not connect to the OP6.
Thank you for your skills
OP6 Android 9.0 with Z-Link is working on the new intel joying units....

I believe you can attempt using the trial version of Headunit Reloaded Android Auto and if this works out. You can try out using the full version.

I can confirm this to work with Pixel 2 running Android 9.0 using both wired and wireless.
It's not installing Android 9.0 directly onto the head unit but it will mirror any source android phone as long as it's 4.1+.

The OP asks whether he can upgrade his PX5 to Android 9. Not whether he can use an Android 9 phone/device with his unit.
That's a big difference and mirroring your phone to your head unit might be enough, but it is always a big functionality limitation when comparing it with the full head unit functionality.
For me the only concern with older Android versions it the lack of support when it comes to security patches by those Chinese suppliers. Joying (and all the others) simply stop supplying security updates even though the Android 8.0 version on the PX5 is still fully supported.
Using Android auto or headunit reloaded does not change that. It might even make it worse (and especially with z-link)

But seeing that the OP may be staying with his current PX5 I took the liberty of suggesting an alternative to Z-link. Seeing as I have hit the same snag as him with my PX5 and Pixel 2 running Android 9.0. So as a reiteration to the previously mentioned:

You are completely right. I had overseen his second question. sorry.
Headunit reloaded should/might work.
Z-link only works with phone versions up to 8.1 with the PX-5.
The new 9853i (8.1) does work with Android 9 phones. It might be worth trying to install that z-link version onto the PX5 to see whether that works.

I thank you all for your answers.
I made a cross on a hypothetical update of the PX5 but if an application can replace Z-link to run my OP6 pie it would be great.
Or a custum ROM ....

I have an OnePlus 6T and I have the 10.1" octacore 4/64 GB px5 8.1 joying unit and I contacted them about it. They say they are working on an update to fix it. So... We shall see, not holding my breath. I plugged in my backup Moto E4 and the works with z link.
What I'm trying to figure out is what update my unit needs since they have their Intel altimont update on their site and I'm not sure if that's compatible.
Edit: ok so I see that I have a QD unit, I reached out to joying to see if there's any recent updates
Hi, is it possible to update a firmware/ROM from android 8.0 to 8.1 using Joying web updates? My HU is Xtrons MCU KEQ, but is essentially a Joying hardware with px5 4/32g.
Thanks in advance

No.
The PX5 8.0 firmware is an ARM64 android. The intel airmont 8.1 firmware is an x86_64 android.
They are completely incompatible. And then there is the differences in other hardware requiring other drivers.

Ok, thanks.. I suspect that.. ja
Im lookin to replace my com.syu.amp from my actual 8.0 system. How can I get a new/different one? I saw that Joying is showing a new parametric EQ in the 8.1 set. And the HU dont have a DPS hardware. So.. Is there a way to take some Archives from android 8.1 to use it on 8.0?
Thanks in advance Surfer!

I don't think so.
And the com.syu.eq is the "visual" equalizer. I'm afraid the difference in hardware is too big to make it work. And I also think that other libraries and drivers are required.

My problem is that EQ is not doing that would be at all. 7 bands and and every one of this acts as HPF. Its imposible get a good spot.
On system/priv-app/ there are 2 folders related to audio, one is the 180000000_com.syu.amp that inside has an .apk called AMP.
And de second folder is com.syu.eq that has the Eq executable.
Maybe trying with the last Joying web firmware to px5 from november 2018? What do you think?
Thanks again for your help.

Sorry. I really don't know. I already mentioned my doubts and have no further experiene with it, and know nobody who has.
Would it be possible to see if the Z-Link apk (from new Intel Joying) can work on the 8.0 (PX5). If someone can extract the apk and share it from the device itself? I've tried downloading the firmware, and extract the system.img but I can't go any further than that for now. I need to figure out how to extract ext4 images on a mac.

You have a Sofia unit. That unit is running Android 6.0.1. That does not support phones with Android 8.x. There is no firmware that will help you.
You should better take a look at HUR: Head Unit Reloaded. It is made by an XDA developer.

What info? From the supplier or the website or on your unit?
I don't see that from your images.
Also: A Sofia running on android 8.0? That would be the first that I know of (but I don't know everything , not by far )
Your 2nd image shows a Bluetooth version of 6.0.1.-23. That version is not correct, but is shows Android 6.0.1 with some kernel version.
Anyway: Even if your Sofia is running Android 8, there is no (custom) firmware available that will allow it to pair with an android phone on 8.x or newer.
Thank you for the explanation surfer.
That means i cannot install any of the firmware on this forum?

Probably not. Maybe you can install the gtxaspec custom rom, but only if your funrover is 100% identical with a Joying Sofia (which is possible).
Normally there is a fyt.prop where the company is defined. For Joying that id is 43. So even if you use that custom rom, you first need to change the id in the custom ROM to the Funrover id, otherwise your MCU will give problems.
And even in that case: your android phone 8 will still not be supported in Android auto/Easyconnected.
So my advice: Don't even try that route as you will not have any support.
Go for HUR like I advised in my first post.

[Need Help] How to update a Android PX6 Android HU

Hello,
I need help to find out, how to update a chinese PX6- Based Android HU.
I have bought this: https://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-E87-E82-10-25-Android-8-1-SixCore-Auto-GPS-Navigation-Radio-2-32G-iDrive/113662190612?hash=item1a76cb6414:g:NOoAAOSwFfJccWCv
But it says no where which manufacturer it is.
I have seen that all HUs are looking same, but have all different vendors.
Are they just like whitelabel products, and every HU is the same?
If i can update the HU, i would like to write a little tutorial in order to help the rest with these chinese HUs.
I have found a chinese site with a PX6 software version, but dont know if its compatible.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/pfbgl1
Thank you very much.
Most BMW Headunits are from GS, you find the code within the MCU version numbering.
It`s not possible to upgrade from a lower Android version to a newer one, if you have an 8.1 Unit you only can update internally to newer 8.1 Updates.
the chinese do not release source codes, if you want to have a unit with newer android, unforunatley you need to buy a new Unit (better with Snapdragon 625).
Chri
Oh thats an answer I don´t quite expected.
Are updates not possible even with other custom roms?
Can´t these custom roms simply add the BMW-Skins?
What would you suggest to do with this device?
They are quite expensive.

It`s more a question of what features do you miss at the moment, newer units also miss some features older units have.
There are two large Posts at the F30 forum, one primary for Android 7.1/8.1 and one for Android 9.0.
Note that Android 9 is available for PX6 and Snapdragon, anyways it`s not possible to upgrade a 8.1 Unit to 9.0 at the moment.

Px3 Tesla style board upgrade

Hello humans,
I have been looking to upgrade my tesla style headunit px3 coreboard to a px6 and have some questions regarding this upgrade about software compatibility.
first: My unit is now running a 4.4.2 kitkat android version. Will this cause any problems for the px6?
second: Is there a place where i can find car specific MCU software (Astra J)?
third: I found that a user here has made his own android version for these screens. Will i be able to simply use that to upgrade my android?
Thanks!
