LGQ8 (LG V20) player - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hello
I just bought a lgQ8 (Italian version of LgV20) without modifying the original system which player advises me to take full advantage of the internal DAC?
and what would be the audio-level benefits by modifying it?
grazieee
sorry for my English (google traslate)

You'll have to confirm this with other users of the Q8.
Without root: 24bit files will play bitperfect up to 192kHz with stock player.
Resample 24bit songs to PCMfloat(upsampling to 32bit?) with other players, such as N7, Pi, Black player etcetra.
16bit files will be resampled to 48kHz regardless.
With root: 16bit & 24bit files will play bitperfect from 44.1kHz to 192kHz with stock player.
16bit & 24bit will be upsampled to PCMfloat(32bit?) but playback bitperfectly from 44.1kHz to 196kHz.
Some players resample to 48kHz regardless of root.
I might be wrong on a few things, but I am writing this in a hurry, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

stock player with root... do you need to specify or change anything for the default music player to do this?

No, you just have to change this line in build.prop:
audio.offload.pcm.16bit.enable=true

no one has to add any other information?

Video / Audio Encode settings ?

What video/audio settings should be used to encode movies/videos for the Vibrant, before I get mine tomorrow I want to encode a few with avidemux
Once someone provides the settings i'll update the OP for future reference
I haven't used any compression settings yet. lol. I downloaded a 720p mkv and it played PERFECTLY in RockPlayer and Video Player. Only issue was no way to change subs or secondary audio (in mkv's).
thats funny cause one some of the mkvs i've loaded i only get sound and a black screen.. is there codecs for android i don't know about? still a n00b >_<
Both Rock Player and Video player have the mkv container and h.264 codecs built in, shouldn't be a problem. Does the file give you issues in a desktop player? Specifically, VLC?
Oh yeah, Video Player will give you 5.1 sound also!!!!
so... will I be able to download xvid movies/videos that are non-hd and play them? lol that would be siiiick

[Q] Galaxy S vibrant plays back H264 video but lacks audio

So i downloaded two videos both in mp4 format encoded in h264 with acc audio, it plays the video fine (and looks amazing by the way) but there is no audio... any one care to help me figure this out?
IS the audio like 5.1? if o you gotta use headsets that supports 5.1 audio to hear it.
yes it is 5.1... hmmm i thought this would not be an issue as my computer plays it just fine, and converts it to 2 channel automatically?
is there a way to do this on the galaxy S or is there a way to convert 5.1 to 2 channel in the mp4??
never mind, a quick google helped me out... so for future reference guys: the i9000 cannot playback 5.1 audio natively
Thanks fr the heads up. I had this issue a while ago as well.
(1) Demux (extract) the audio stream with Yamb, (2) transcode the 5.1 AAC stream to 2 ch with MediaCoder Audio Edition, and (3) mux the 2ch AAC back into the MP4 w/ the H264 stream with Yamb. Since it only involves reencoding (transcoding) the audio, it doesn't take very long and the video quality will be unaffected
Yamb
Mediacoder Audio Edition
(1) Demux audio w/ Yamb:
(2) Transcode 6ch AAC to 2ch w/ mediacoder:
Note: Before being able to transcode 5.1 ch AAC to 2 ch you will have to find & paste a enc_aacplus.dll and nscrt.dll to the Mediacoder codecs folder (C:\Program Files\MediaCoder Audio Edition\codecs). If you have WinAmp installed you can find them in its installation folder or if you don't have WinAmp you can probably find them by doing a web search for "enc_aacplus.dll".
I found them linked in another vid forum comments at the first search result for me.
Also, the first time you try to run mediacoder it will open a webpage. You can just check the 'do not open next time mediacoder starts' box and then click 'open mediacoder' instead of doing the online setup.
(3) Mux 2ch & vid stream w/ Yamb:

Unable to play MP4 Video in Player

Hey all,
I never really tried playing video on the nook, but I just tried playing an MP4 and it gives me a "Sorry, this video cannot be played" error.
I've looked into it and it seems that the nook actually supports MP4 playback.
Running on Mirage 7.2.
Also the information VLC Player (on my PC) gives for the mp4 file:
Stream 0
---------
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Resolution: 640x480
Frame rate: 29.970023
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV
Stream 1
---------
Type: Audio
Codec: MPEF AAC Audio (mp4a)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
I appreciate any effort to sort this one out.
I have had nothing but problems using VLC player on my rooted nook. It has to have soft-decoding enabled for lots of movie files to play on it. This is using the VLC player through the playstore.
One player on the playstore I have had better luck with is called MX player or the Moboplayer, both of those will play the native .mp4 video formats for me.

Also you might have a corrupted video file if it is not playing on your computer with the correct video codecs downloaded for it. Might want to try to re-download that one video you are having problems with. Check that file in a different video player on your computer and see if it plays. If it doesn't, then you either do not have the correct video codecs downloaded onto your computer for it or it is a corrupted file. On windows OS I have to download a KLite video codec for .mp4 files to play. VLC should play that file by default though on the computer.

Try using the program "handbrake" to encode your video files for playback on the nook to keep from having to soft decode it. Soft decoding takes up lots of processing power on the processor on your nook color. There are guides to show you how to encode video files for your nook color using handbrake here. http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...using-handbrake-convert-video-nook-color.html
Thanks for the quick response.

I only used my Windows VLC Player to determine the codecs information. What I'm trying to do here is to run the mp4 in the native CM7.2 player.

I will try to re-encode the file. Maybe something with the audio stream there...
Will update! Thanks!
OK it works with the directions what you gave
I tried to give it a go alone with Handbrake. Didn't work.
Then I followed the steps in the link you provided and it plays in the default player, including H/W decoding.
Thanks a bunch!

Handbrake settings

Hi there,
wondering if anyone has good settings for handbrake?

In for this as well.
Also want to start using it for the TV too.
For HD videos in the best quality with the best compression:
Destination: Make sure you set the file format as MKV.
Container: MKV
Size: Original (auto-set)
Anamorphic: Loose(default)
Modulus: 2 (default)
Cropping: auto/0x0x0x0
Filters: All off.
De-interlace: Only if using a US file in a Non-US device (Better to turn it off and set this in the video player.)
Video:
x264 preset: Set this to the slowest possible setting your PC and patience can handle. Slower = higher quality & smaller files.
Video Codec: H.264 (x264)
Framerate: Same as source. (NTFS (USA) = 29.97 fps, PAL(Worldwide) = 24/25 fps.)
Leave the rest on default.
Audio:
Codec: MP3 or AAC. For best compatibility, pick MP3. Most videoplayers have cut out AC3 and DTS support due to licensing issues. (And Stock never supported DTS anyway.) AAC is also an option.
Bitrate: For best sound quality, 192 and above.
Sample Rate: Auto.
Mixdown: Depends on what's originally included in the file. You can't force a 2:1 onto a 5:1. (The audio track should say what it is.) If unsure, use default.
DRC: Leave alone
Gain: If you find the sound too quiet, add 1-5 points.
Subtitles:
If you've got a .srt file you want to bake into the video file, add here. If you prefer to use a separate .srt file (same name as the video = auto detect by most players), skip.
Chapters:
If you want to make chapters, do so here. If not, skip.
Don't know if Stock plays MKV, but you're better off using another app anyway. VLC, Dice, MXplayer, BSplayer. Any of those.

MKV won't play in my stock SM-P900 but MXplayer will play those MKV files. Haven't tried the others mentioned.

Bitstreaming with MX Player (or other)

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, or instead the MX Player forums, but I keep reading persistent claims that people are successfully bitstreaming lossless (TrueHD and DTS-HD-MA) audio to their AVR via the MX Player app on NVidia Shield.
My library consists of uncompressed Blu Ray rips made using MakeMKV. I take the lossless audio codec whenever available.
For the life of me, I can't seem to get proper playback. If I enable HW+, video plays with no audio. If I disable HW+ in favor of "HW", I get neither audio or video.
I haven't downloaded or installed any extra codecs specifically for MX Player yet... currently, within settings, it says I have "Use ARMv7 type custom codec".
Anybody having success with this care to expound on what settings are making this work?
