Hi Folks,
I have a rooted Tab S2 SM-T715Y and recently updated to Nougat. I am looking to get advice on build.prop changes that will allow me to install Gear Manager to allow my Gear S3 to connect to my Tablet.
Previously when running Marshmallow I had changed the build.prop ro.build.characteristics from "tablet" to "phone" and the ro.product.model from "SM-T715Y" to "SMN900P" however when I make these changes now and reboot the device just stays on the Samsung splash screen and will not boot. I have to re-flash Nougat update to get it to work.
The original ro.build.characteristics on Nougat is listed as "tablet, emulator" which seems odd.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
thanks

I have a verizon galaxy s. When the phone is turned on it shows the samsung startup display. Then immediatly goes to the android system recovery <2e> and highlights reboot system now. What do i need to do to get this usable again ? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Pretty sure the Verizon phone is not an i9000 galaxy s. I would post in the specific forum (Fascinate) but it likely involves reflashing a stock or custom rom via Odin. I am guessing stock?

Hi,
So I recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU and read this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61421937&postcount=4 on how to root it since it is running Android 5.0.2. But when I run Odin it get's stuck on writing to recovery. I have USB debugging and mock locations turned on in the developers settings. Any help is appreciated.
P.S. - Screenshot included
Edit - Nvm got it solved turns out was was using wrong version of open recovery to flash
Hi, Everyone. The built-in Trash Cleaner is obviously a start/kill/start/kill app. I am running Marshmallow S_219 ROw. Rooted. Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP install.
In Lollipop, the trash cleaner feature was present in the Settings Menu. Can't seem to locate it. Anyway, what's the apk name or service.
I've been using Samsung Pay on my Gear S3 connected to my S5 running @jrkruse Stock/Rooted DEODEXED QA1 - been working perfectly.
Just got notice on my phone that a Samsung Pay update failed. When I opened it, it says:
"Samsung Pay cannot be accessed by rooted devices for security reasons. Unroot your device in order to use Samsung Pay"
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
PS The watch actually still looks like it always has - like it should still work, but I haven't tried it since this phone update. Gear S3 Samsung Pay version is 1.3.2103.
Although my rooted Nexus 6P also would not update, the Gear continued to work with SP until I ended up having to re-pair the phone and watch. At that point it no longer worked. Oddly I removed root and turned off developer options and Pay is still telling me that I'm rooted. Used a root checker and verified that I'm no longer rooted. Not sure what to do at this point.
Samsung Glaxy TAB A 8.0 SM-T355Y (LTE version)
I need to get this Tab off Nougat (7.1.1) as it's dead slow and almost un-usable, even with rooting and debloating. My wife has stopped using it and I don't want it to become another piece of e-waste. I appear to be out of options and wondered if anyone had any suggestions.
Note: it appears there is also a T355 for the Asian/Arab market that it different to the T355Y. This model only shipped with 7.1.1.
So far I have tried the following:
a) Root/TWRP/debloat of stock ROM. This seems to work initially but any usage in a browser is painfully slow.
Then in an attempt to find something other then the stock nougat ROM
b) [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][LineageOS 16.0][Android 9.0][SM-T350]
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/rom-t3903258
Modifying the config to remove Assert details means that it flashes fine but during boot the screen distorts and when it recovers the touch screen is out of calibration and it emits a high pitched whine. Might be able to find a solution for the screen but we can't put up with the whine.
c) I then tried flashing the 7.1.1 stock boot image for the T355Y in combo with the above and it hangs at the Samsung screen and never goes any further.
d) I then tried flashing the 6.0.1 stock boot image for the T355 in combo with the above and get:
Kernel is not SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set Warranty Bit : Kernel
and it then hangs at the Samsung screen before rebooting into TWRP, any reboot just goes back into TWRP.
e) I then tried the FENIX V2 Rom based on 6.0.1 for the T355
[ROM][ROOT][STOCK][DEBLOATED][6.0.1] [FENIX ROM] Galaxy Tab A Series
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/rom-galaxy-tab-series-t3514996
This flashes fine from TWRP but the Wifi doesn't work, the solution by the creator of the ROM is to load a stock Russian 6.0.1 ROM via ODIN first but this won't work as I get Secure Check Fail: aboot as clearly its a ROM for a slightly different model.
Now I seem to be out of options that I can find. Anyone got suggestions for what to try next?
Any updates?
Bump!
Desperately looking for a way to make this device workable!
Any option including building own ROM, installing pure Linux, etc.is acceptable at this point. All I need is for WiFi to work.
PLEASE HELP!
