LG G6 Always On Display - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Can someone try to port the always on display from the stock LG G6 stock rom(if it's possible)? It is a great feature especially since it is using an IPS LCD display and it has very little effect on the battery.

You mean porting it to custom roms?

Yes?

Worth upgrading to G6?

Hey
I'm very into G6 design. Now have G4, and I'm very satisfied with pictures quality, my work depends on pictures (I'm tattooist). Just wanted to ask you guys - is it worth to upgrade to G6? Is this phone have better pictures than G4? Maybe someone have both of this phones, and can take some samples to compare?
Pls share your thoughts, thx
I don't think that anything out right now is worth the upgrade. The phone isn't significantly different in my opinion. No picture from the cell phones will beat a DSLR though, so if quality is what you want, that might be best anyway.
The G6 is hands down better than the G4. I hate to put the G4 down like that. Even the G5 was a upgrade from the G4
The dual camera on the G5 is amazing and I wouldn't expect less with the G6

My G5 has way better pictures than the G4. So yes. Along with the G5 and G6 performance wise blows away the G4.

Go check out Flickr. I don't own the G6. They are loads of samples at flickr and just search LG G6.
G6 uses a really old sensor. It's from September 2015. Also nearly no Nougat for G4. Also V20 has bootloop issues, who tells me, that G6 will not have. Therefore I will change the phone. I compared Huawei P10 with my G4, it makes much better pictures. Therefore I will switch to Mate 9 or S8.
I would rather go for the G5. G5, G6 (better wide camera) is about the same. Main difference is about the design. G5 offers the best value.
if you are going for camera quality, get galaxy s7 or the new s8. Tested 2 days ago and it really is amazing.
Never go for LG anymore, i rather buy an iPhone 7 than another LG smartphone.. The new Samsung S8 or Huawei P10 also is a good alternative..

G6 has IP68, G5 has not.
I will tell you one thing. Whatever it's G5 or G6 or even G8(exclusive leak!) it will *spoiler* bootloop on you I wouldn't consider it as it's basically worse version of Galaxy S8 with better camera, nothing else. LG ****ed everything again as aspect ratio is only used in stock apps while S8 can at least fit 16:9 on 18.5:9 which I find quite useful with such useless screens(who really needs that stupid aspect ratio? I won't buy phone with something else than 16:9)
I compared a G6 in the store to my G4 and the picture quality of the G6 was better especially if you like more of a color boost but the speaker of the G6 wasn't as good and that's my most used feature of my G4 it gets used way very more than the water proofing of my old Xperia Z3 and both LG G6 & Xperia Z3 phones loose sound in the speakers for 24 hours after being submerged in water.

G6 has no notification light, realized it a few days ago. For me it's important, maybe for you too.
it doesn't have IR port also, no remote control support anymore
it's a beautiful phone but functionality wise, you loose things and pay for it

If you really want to compare cameras, do it here http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=4&idPhone1=6901&idPhone2=7815&idPhone3=8466. Click on different parts of the photo in the left and you will see that colors are actually better represented on G4, G6 has more detail on some parts of it, G5 is pretty similar to G4. The hardware is not that different on the cameras that are comparable (the ones with AutoFocus, no wide lens). A big difference is done in the postprocessing. G6 has Nougat, G4 has Marshmallow. Compare G5 with G6, both running Nougat. When all 3 will have Nougat, then somebody should do a test with all 3 of them in the same lab environment.
Regarding functionality, you get what you get. Some people complain about a missing IR blaster, but I rarely use it. I personally do not like the all glass design of the G6 and the fact that even in 2017 LG does not have a strong update plan. There were people saying that G5 is free from bootloop, but it is not, there are still some issues, although not as many as G4 had. Nobody can tell you that the G6 will be better supported than the G4 or if it is better. We are all pretty subjective when it comes to our opinions, no matter how hard we try, our opinion is formed from all our experience. I, for one, will not choose a LG tablet/smartphone because of the sporadic software update.
LG software update track record doesn't seemed good enough for me to continue.
Those low range phones and tablet from Samsung seemed to have even more update than what I received.
Android O is almost coming out. But g4 is still waiting for nougat. And has any LG phone been updated to 7.1?

replacement LG G4 by OP5 ?

Hello all,
I have a question. I own a LG G4 that has an IPS QHD screen.
I do a bit of virtual reality with (mainly movie viewing) but I want to switch to the ONEPLUS 5 for other reasons (sotckage 128GB, BT 5.0, 8GB ram and Amoled screen).
However, with its full HD screen Amoled, I was wondering if it will bring me satisfaction for the virtual reality and i know it loses in definition of the screen.
Do you think I will strongly feel it or not?
I am not an expert on virtual reality, I would have liked to test with such a definition as the One Plus 5 but I do not know anyone who has such a resolution.
Thank you in advance for any help you could bring me in choosing the purchase or not.

LG G6 vs LG V20 which is better?

Guys! I am planning to buy G6. Do you think its a good idea. Please suggest. My main preference is Display, Audio and Camera. I like everything about LG V20 except for battery life. I am unable to find Battery cradle kit in my country.
I just switched from v20 to G6. I think the display is more or less the same, but the G6 just looks way better with the thin bezels and the aspect ratio.
I actually felt like camera was better on v20. G6 is too heavy with the image processing.
I ended up going with the G6 anyway just cuz it's just much easier to use the G6 one handed.
I think this has been asked several times. Try search.

Check for the camera quality discussions .If you don't care about cameras on front and back it's ok.
I see over a dozen videos on Youtube comparing the two.
I went from the V20 to the G6.. I think that the screen is actually better on the G6 and easier to see in the sunlight.
The pictures, at least for me, come out similar with the G6 getting a slight edge.
Audio is better on the V20 due to the DAC when headphones are plugged in only.

Camera in real life

Hi everyone!
I am a happy user of LG G6, please dont judge me, writting here for the first time.
The question is, what do you think about camera of LG G6, yeah I know it is good enough, but V30 better.
I wonder if it is possible to interchange them manually, cause I really dont like the form of V30, but the camera of the V30 is really amazing, anyone did that? Or it is impossible because of software issues?
LG G6 camera is not good enough. I can even say it's trash. G4's camera is much better than G6. G6 is using a mid-low range sensor, maybe they can implement some features that makes camera better in Oreo update but I'm not sure.
