Stop screen wake on notification - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

I'm getting really annoyed with the fact that all sorts of completely unimportant apps on my phone decide to wake the screen when they have a notification. I am OK with these notifications being on the lock screen, I just don't want it to keep randomly waking up.
I just can't find a setting anywhere to disable this behaviour. Is there anything I can do with root since apparently there is no way to disable this in the standard settings UI?

This is just how sony messages app works. Use a different app for messages to disable it. Samsung does this with their stock messaging app as well and its annoying. Running xposed there are a few tricks to stop it if you wanted to use teh stock messaging app for whatever reason.

It's not the Sony messages app (which I don't use). It's all sorts of low importance apps on my phone. I do want the notifications, but not the screen wake.
The worst offender is the game TwoDots. Every time it notifies me of new things happening in the game, the screen wakes. Even if I ban ALL notifications from the app, it still wakes the screen when it would've notified me (I can tell from logcat). I just wish I could ban all apps other than phone calls from waking the screen.

Never once had any app other than messages do that, Id be uninstalling them immediately lol You can run xposed and gravitybox to fix this though.

I haven't bothered with Xposed since Nougat. Just using Magisk.
Ugh even the Tapatalk app is doing it too.

I really don't know what's going wrong. I don't face any of these issues, with none of my apps, even Sony messaging app works without waking my screen up.

ADW Launcher reboots after recent updates

Has anyone else noticed after the recent adw updates when going back from menu or an app it seems to have rebooted itself and has to reload icons and widgets which takes a bit sometimes?
Yep. All adw launchers do that. There is an option in the settings to have it persist. But you will lose auto rotate in the hone screen

Noticed it too. Seems like a new thing.
I always check out peoples comments when I get an update available notification. This one seemed to be a few issues so have left it til they sort it out and do a new update. They come out pretty regularly so hopefully you will get sorted soon. Have you emailed them or commented on the app's wall?
are you using any theme? i used to have that problem when i was using sense theme.
Can´t find how to turn auto rotate of the the screen of, anyone can help??

1.1.3 came out today.. (I think it was today..)... Lets see if it's any more stable.. I had virtually no problems with it prior to 1.1.0.. now it's a nightmare!
Anybody else find it annoying that they replaced the "Notifications" option when you press the menu key with "Edit"? Cause I have the notifications bar hidden and now I have to open some random app to get the notification bar... (And no, I dont want to use the slide up/down gestures....)
Yea, mine crashes often
Mine has became laggy when scrolling through home page after the update!
Same experience here.....
After disabled scroll cache in settings, my home screen scrolling speed back to normal again. Finally solved this problem which has been troubling me for days.

[Q] Always go to homescreen with no lockscreen

I don't like to have a lockscreen. Instead, I like to use my homescreen as a lockscreen (in the sense that it displays the time and notifications). However, when you disable the lockscreen, whenever you wake your phone you go to wherever you left off, in the browser for example. Are there any roms or mods that send you to the homescreen whenever you wake your phone without lockscreen? Or could this easily be made, if it doesnt exist already?
CM10.1 has this (I suggest downloading Jellybro, unofficial kang... more features, same stability)
go into settings -> lock screen -> security -> go from "Slide" to "None"

Doesn't that keep the lockscreen but just get rid of any security needed to unlock the phone?
Edit: Never mind. Lol.

It disables the lock screen completely. If you turn the phone screen off in the middle of a browser, and turn it back on. It shows up at the browser. If u screen off at youtube, turns on at youtube. I just tried it on my phone before replying.

Thanks for your reply, but that's exactly what I don't want.
Actually, stock can do this too. But I want it to return to my homescreen automatically when I wake my device, not where I left off. Would this be possible with Tasker maybe?

Not sure why you would want that to happen. Don't use Tasker so I don't know.
Seems like you're making your life more complicated for no reason. It logically doesn't make any sense why you wouldn't want your phone screen to turn on at the spot you last left on.

I see it this way: I use my lockscreen to quickly see the time, date and notifications. When I actually want to use my device, I have to make one gesture (slide or whatever). So why not completely remove the lockscreen, and let me go to the homescreen instead, so I can use that as a sort of "lockscreen"? That way I don't have to make that extra unlock gesture. On my homescreen I also have the time, date and notifications, so a lockscreen is kind of pointless. But turning on at the spot I left off is not what I want, because that way I won't be able to see time, date and notifications or whatever I have on my lockscreen/homescreen now (yes, I know I can see those things in the notifications bar, but it's just an example).

First off. The solution I mentioned above fully disables the lock screen. Meaning you won't have to do a gesture to unlock the phone in the first place.
Secondly, the time is always on the top right side. Depending what rom you have, you may also have the ability to add the day of the week there. Notifications is on the pull down, the date and the day of the week is also present there so there's no reason why you need to always know that kind of information every part of the day as people do turn on and turn off their screen many times during the day.

I know. I know how to disable the lockscreen. This is even possible with vanilla Android.
Like I said, I know those things are possible to put in my notification bar, but let's say I want to see things every time I turn on my device that are NOT possible to put in my notification bar.
The reason that I want this isn't even important. I just don't want to do that gesture every time I turn the screen on, but I do want to see widgets, clocks, notifications, WHATEVER, like I would have seen on my lockscreen. For this, I can use the homescreen, but only if it goes to the homescreen every time I turn the screen on.

In my eyes it does make sense. I want my homescreen to replace the lockscreen. My homescreen looks exactly the same as my lockscreen does. By disabling the lockscreen and going directly to the homescreen, I don't have to make the unlock gesture, which is what I want.
I just think it makes no sense to have a lockscreen if you have exactly the same content on your homescreen. So, why not save that extra unlock gesture and go directly to the homescreen?
I will look into Tasker to see if it's possible. I can't be the only one that wants this.
I made a tasker profile that does this. Just disable the lock screen and use this profile.

Notification pull down

I have a weird problem which I am sure others are having also. I have a persistent weather notification in my pull down menu which is always there. The issue is, on the N4, when I receive a text notification it is above the weather notification that is essentially permanent. I would prefer this be below it. See attachment to view what I'm talking about.
So the question is, is there a workaround or fix for this? None of my previous phones had this problem. Thanks
I'm on 4.2.2 btw.

Mine doesn't do that but I use stock texting and use 1weather so maybe its something in Handcent, like a setting to always keep notifications on top or maybe my 1weather app is keep itself on top.
Yeah what's weird is I am using the same apps configured the exact same way as I did on my just replaced GS2. I can't find anything in handcent that changes the order of notification, nor can I in my weather app. I think what I will do is just send a support email to handcent and see what they think. Obviously something in the OS is different. Thanks
Could be something to do with Google Now. Check the settings

I've only had it 2 weeks and it's been like this since I set it up. I'd prefer to not wipe it as I don't think that will resolve it. I fired off an email to handcent, I'll update when I hear back.
What app is the notification from?
Notifications have some sort of priority thing, so Handcents is probably higher than that weather app.
Check both apps for this setting, or email the developer?

Yeah what's weird is I have used both of these apps for a long time on 2 different phones and have never had this issue. The weatherbug is a persistent/always there notification and should have priority to be at the top. There is nothing I can change in either app to change this. I have an email in to handcent to see if they know what the deal is. Never had this issue on my Nexus S or T989 GS2.

Turn off Default SMS & Call Widget on Lock Screen

I do like the stock 4.3. Its much smoother compared to 4.2.1.
But what I don't like is the default SMS widget that shows up on the locks screen when we receive an SMS.
Same goes for Miss Calls.
The sms is displayed on the screen itself, so basically anybody could read the sms as it arrives (I dont like putting lock).
I know, there is a setting to disable sms display but that will turn off the displaying of the message on notification bar aswell.
So is there any way to turn off that widget ? I couldn't find any yet.
Infact, this whole lock screen widget thing is not so cool because, as per my experience, if I put widgets, the phone takes up a while (1-2 secs) to wake up.

sorry I dont know which app/process it is because I don't own a Samsung device!
you must try to find it yourselves by just freezing apps/process related to lockscreen one after the other!

Had the same question as thread opener. I'd prefer to use dashclock to handle this kind of things, non that Samsung stuff. And, at the same time, I'd like to keep text content readable on notification bar. Is this lock screen notification disposable somehow? I see nothing that could be related to it in settings
Note 2 N7100 - DN3 ROM @240 dpi - MK4
I took the other way to solve this one..
I have actually installed Textra sms client and I have kept the stock Messaging app aswell.
So, now on, the new sms is captured by Textra and displayed on status bar like before. And if I want, I can use stock sms to reply or read, but I prefer textra now. In case you prefer textra, u can actually turn off stock Messaging from App manager and permanently use Textra (or any other sms client) as a replacement.
Just install a 3rd party SMS app and disable notifications in stock app.
Donnt be bothered about RAM when using a powerhouse such as Note 2

I managed to obtain what I needed with rom toolbox pro using its auto run manager function. Make system apps visible, than look for a package named com.sec.android.app.keyguard and disable the first receiver, whose lengthy name ends with "missed widget provider". No more notifications on lock screen taking the place of my widgets (namely dashclock)!
Hope this helps, fell free to ask for clarifications if needed. No side effects noted until now, but I seldom receive text messages since WhatsApp has been invented, so it hasn't been tested much. Cheers!

It's a mod for xposed installer, for rooted device. This mod remove totally the new message widget and missed call widget of the lockscreen.

Plenty of them:

Peek:

Also if you are on lollipop you could flash modified framework, with Ambient display enabled
