Has anyone else noticed after the recent adw updates when going back from menu or an app it seems to have rebooted itself and has to reload icons and widgets which takes a bit sometimes?
Yep. All adw launchers do that. There is an option in the settings to have it persist. But you will lose auto rotate in the hone screen

Noticed it too. Seems like a new thing.
I always check out peoples comments when I get an update available notification. This one seemed to be a few issues so have left it til they sort it out and do a new update. They come out pretty regularly so hopefully you will get sorted soon. Have you emailed them or commented on the app's wall?
are you using any theme? i used to have that problem when i was using sense theme.

1.1.3 came out today.. (I think it was today..)... Lets see if it's any more stable.. I had virtually no problems with it prior to 1.1.0.. now it's a nightmare!
Anybody else find it annoying that they replaced the "Notifications" option when you press the menu key with "Edit"? Cause I have the notifications bar hidden and now I have to open some random app to get the notification bar... (And no, I dont want to use the slide up/down gestures....)
Yea, mine crashes often
Mine has became laggy when scrolling through home page after the update!
Same experience here.....
After disabled scroll cache in settings, my home screen scrolling speed back to normal again. Finally solved this problem which has been troubling me for days.

I've got Launcher Pro Plus and my home screen filled with 5 light widgets. I've noticed that when switching between portrait and landscape, all the widgets will disappear and refresh in about 1-2 seconds. Its not an issue, but it somewhat sticks out next to the fluidity of the rest of the UI. I forgot to test it out on the stock UI; does the stock launcher do this with stock widgets? My guess is that there's a lack of rotation animations for these , but that's just a swing in the dark. I suppose I should ask if this is normal behavior, and if not, did I miss a setting?
Thanks in advance.

Getting deeper into the second page, quick bump!
i dont think you missed a setting. i feel like launcherpro doesnt work properly on the g2. its glitchy for me, i keep getting a blank homescreen sometimes then it refreshes to the all the widgets and icons. the dock is sweet, but doesnt feel like the sacrafice of glitchyness is a even trade.

I get that too... I hope we see an optimization soon. It's not expensive by any means, but it stinks to have a paid product wasted...
Oh, and does that mean this phenomenon doesn't occur on other devices?
Maybe a little late, but I believe the refreshing of the home screen after rotating the device has to do with the widgets you use.
I've noticed this when putting the "easy button widget" on my home screen. Since that moment the screen started to refresh after a orientation-switch. I removed the widget, and it was allright again.
On Froyo whenever I use an app for a bit like the browser then retun to the home screen, it doesn't show any icons and appears frozen for a few seconds untill I shows them again about 5 seconds later. Is anyone else expierencing this issue?
Yes, happens to me sometimes too, kinda annoying.
I can get it to happen every time i send a text with the keyboard then while the text is sending, pressing the home button will yield a blank launcher for 3-4 seconds.
Its happened to me occasionaly. I just pressed the home button and they reappeared. Also, sometimes my Samsung widgets disappear and i have to readd them

Happens to me also. This also happens when you pull out the keyboard, it takes a few seconds for all the icons to show up on the landscaped screen.
Stuff like this makes me wonder if this isn't actually a finalized release of Froyo...
I agree. With all there bugs it makes.you a bit weary about whether or not this is official.
If it is, there better be an udate soon
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Does the same for me. I don't have many of the problems everyone else is having, but I hope this isn't the official release.

Guys, did you flash froyo using clockwork? I just flashed froyo onto my sisters epic using the .tar and odin. Hers isn't having these beta issues my phone is having
I think this is due to the Epic 4g getting a Touchwiz update (3.0 now, I think) with the Froyo update. Originally, the new Touchwiz wasn't included because it didn't have a landscape mode. Now, it's got a slow landscape mode. I think it's the phone trying to recache the home screen or something.
Perhaps someone can figure out how to lock Touchwiz into portrait mode or something
I also have had the blank home screen... That and the horrible lag switching from portrait to landscape (when it switches) and the apparent lack of landscape unless the keyboard is extended or I'm in the "settings" menu are the only problems I've seen so far.
I use launcher pro... no home screen lag at all
Getting this same problem with Froyo, incredibly annoying. Any fix?
well, one of the fixes is to go with a different launcher, like launcher pro, as said in a post above
Can I remove the Touch Wiz Launcher and use launcher pro instead? Will anything stop functioning if I remove TWLauncher?
tmobile g2...
sometimes when i open the keyboard and it changes to landscape, it shows everything on the screen except for the app icons...then a couple seconds later, the app icons appear
this delay seems to happen more often when the phone is rooted...
also when i am waiting for the app icons to appear, i go to the "app menu" square in the bottom middle, and it shows all the app icons there, but its frozen...then unfreezes as soon as the icons on the main desktop appear.
anyone else having this issue?
I did have about a 1 - 1.5 second delay up until yesterday,.... Now I'm back on the OC,... nearly instant now.
ya and thats what i thought was weird...if i rooted and overclocked..it would do everything faster...but this orientation change seemed to lag even more...
You misunderstand me,... I was running at 806mhz yesterday, now I have up'd it to 1.2 it is instant.
just installed launcherPro...works 10x better...could it be that the default launcher doesnt have a homescreen cache?
also is there a way to edit the default cache? registry edit or something...
Ooo, I wouldn't know about any of that I'm sorry.
Yea I was about to say you should have launcherpro installed. I don't any delay at all.

Registry? GOD NO!!! We don't need or want any crippling DEATH like that.
What launcher are you using? What you are describing is characteristic of the way YOUR SPECIFIC LAUNCHER is written, nothing to do with root. If you installed CM for example, it comes with ADW launcher, which I don't find particularly wonderful for this hardware.... it was good on DREAM, but the stock 3D launcher blows it away.
I have exactly the same issue and I posted to another thread where OP had exact same issue.
Not sure what it is.
Noticed it about a week after I first started using it. Rooted unlocked etc. right away using gfree method.
When I open the keyboard or close the keyboard (change orientation while in an app) and then click the home button ("close the app"), it goes to BLANK home screen for a few seconds. Annoying.
Stock froyo and stock launcher.
When I slide out the keyboard at the home screen after having installed the Froyo release (didn't reflash - just straight install, most of it has been wonderful), it takes about 20 seconds for the icons to reappear. In the meantime, TW seems to have crashed. If I tap the apps icon, it noodles around for about 10 seconds before display the apps.
When I close the keyboard, same mess. If I continuously open and close the slider, it gets much faster, but is anyone else experiencing this? I cleared TW storage, and while it sped up almost instantly, as soon as I added my icons back (almost no widgets), it's back to crazy slowness.
This did NOT happen with DI28 and earlier. I'm running EB13 stock, non-root.
try doing the horizontal screen calibration tool under display settings, but with your phone upside down instead. Just hang the bottom part slightly off the edge of a table and tap calibrate with the screen facing down. It might help

No lag at all for me. I used the exe. You have any widgets that might be causing the problem. Mine is instant.

Anyone have any fixes? It's dramaticaly slowed down my use of the phone. TW literally crashes every time I pull out the keyboard. I have to open an app first before I switch, and homescree google searches are now pointless.

DING DING DING. I think you got it. In my case it seems to be the weatherbug widget. When I delete the widget, the icons reappear almost instantly.

First of all, it doesnt matter. Second of all, TW is alot nicer after update
Sent from my never been rooted, stock Froyo Epic.
Wiped with the EXE. Worked fine for a while, but after adding 8 icons (no widgets), it does the same thing again. I don't think I've installed anything that runs with background services, so I have no idea what the problem is... no problems when I use ADW, but I'd rather not hog an extra 26MB of RAM...
I'm afraid I jumped the gun on declaring mine cured. When first rotating after closing an app, the delay is still there, but then subsequent rotations are immediate . . . until I run the next app. It is faster without the widget, but not cured.
Download terminal emulator from the market. Search the forums for Epic screen lag rotation and you will find an easy fix for your screen lag issues.

@Mike, I have no accelerometer-based rotation lag. Accelerometer-based switching is instantaneous. Only when I pull out the keyboard does TW take forever. Can you please confirm which problem the fix addresses? Thanks.
Folks, I posted a poll. I want to see how bad this problem is. For the record, I have the Google Search widget, and 16 icons (3 of them folders) on my main screen. 2 other icons on side screens, no widgets.
That worked for me!
Minor update: I removed EVERY icon on my screen, and it's now switching instantly. It doesn't seem to like folders at all. I'm slowly adding icons to see where the tipping point is... I had about 20 icons in one folder, perhaps it didn't like that. Annoying, because TW 2.5 worked perfectly in that regard.
Even more updates: Touchwiz *hates* the Angry Birds icons. It's causing a nightmare of a switching delay as soon as I add the icons. Should I just switch to ADW or LauncherPro? Any particular pros/cons to each one?
i get a lag when i go to landscape when im texting
the upside down trick worked for me

Does this bug happen to anyone else? It has happened twice since I installed Gingerbread.
not me! never seen anything like that. Reflashed? full wipe? try different rom?
I couldn't replicate it
Also can't replicate it.
That has happened to me once. I just had to open an app then press the home button and everything worked fine again. Not sure how to replicate the glitch though.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You can't replicate it, it's random. I just touched the screen to show that touchscreen is calibrated correctly.
I haven't seen that on my N1, but this also isn't the first time I have heard of this problem.
My theory is it is some app people have installed causing the flickering...
What if you factory reset the device? Does it still do it then?
Some people were reporting graphic glitches in the launcher after running Angry Bird Seasons. I haven't used that one yet, just regular Angry Birds.
Never tried on the stock launcher but the same thing happened to me 80% of the time with LauncherPro when i used 3D drawer (the same effect as on stock launcher)
Since i disabled it (3D drawer effect) everything work fine.
ive had this issue, it seems to be only with the stock OTA, im not sure how it happened but i can attest to this being a bug that happens to a n1 with full wipe and nothing on it.

same for me
Yes.
I used to disable all the animation for my N1.
after upgrade to 2.3.3, it happened twice.
I thought it is the issue of the animation, maybe.
So, I enable all the animation.
After that, I never see this problem.
I've never had this issue. Only thing close is when I go from the 3d app drawer to the home screen my analog clock widget kinda flickers a little, that's the only flickering I've seen on 2.3.3.
Note: this is also random, can't replicate it most of the time.
Yup this happened to me once. And it was after I closed one of the angry birds game. I think it's because closing apps no longer bring you back to the homescreen but to the app drawer. Android probably had some problem re-rendering the app drawer.
I had to go into settings menu and exit for the flickering to go away. I've gone back to CM7 because it's actually more stable than stock gingerbread after what I've seen so far.

Nope. I just opened the app drawer, launches AB Seasons, played a game, exited it, exits back to App drawer, everything is still working fine, no flickering...
Yes I get the same thing after launching angry birds seasons from the app drawer only and not if I launch from the home screen
Same for me 2. After reboot its ok.

I have a slightly different problem with the 3D app drawer in LPP. I can flick and it scrolls down, but when I grad to flick again, it jumps back up to the top. I can only get part way down the drawer, and I can't open an app. Non-3D works fine.
I have something similar. But not the same. When I close out of any app I just have my background only. Nothing else. After a minute UI shows back up. When I go into settings, I get a black screen until I I swipe my phone up and down.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I've had the Launcher icons not appearing straight away numerous times.
