Build Number Explanation? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I'm wondering about what exactly more recent build numbers for Samsung phones mean in detail, and if anyone here has any further information to add, as I've found guides explaining older builds but not newer ones.
Take my current build as an example, G955WVLU1AQI3:
G955W: Canadian S8+.
VLU: I don't know, this changed to VLS sometimes and back to VLU for past OTA updates on this model.
1: I don't know, some releases bump this up, like G935W8VLU2APK3 for the Canadian S7 Edge. Both 1A... and 2A... firmwares were on 6.0.1 for the S7s.
A: Apparently changing this from A to B signified 6.0.1 to 7.0 for the S7s (such as in G935W8VLU2BQH1), so I'm guessing this represents Android version updates. I've heard open beta firmwares set this to Z.
Q: The year; Q is 2017, P is 2016, R will be 2018, etc.
I: The month; I is September, H is August, J is October, etc.
3: Probably a sequential indicator, since it can't be the day, as this OS was built on 11 September, not 3 September.

[Q] Complete Roundup for SM-T23X

I'm new to this device (and SM in general) and I have owned a Nexus 7 (2012) wifi and so this lack of (stable) original development for SM-T23X is a bit too much for me to take in.
Can anyone here give me a quick rewind of what's happening?
I have a SM-T231 (Cellular Model of T230) purchased here in India with 4.4.2 (T231XXU0ANE2) with date of 7 May, 2014 - no earlier build exist for my region.
From what I've been able to gather, the lack of development is chiefly because of the Marvell Hardware with a cap on the Kernel Size. But still, I see 3 different versions of TWRP in the forum (partly working, need advice). So can we say that we're close to getting a stable recovery environment?
And last question, since no other previous firmwares are available for my region - what should I do to gain root?

H comes after G in the alphabet so the H version is most likely the newest version.

Pretty sure that's not how the update conventions are read
N930AUC S1APH1
N930AUC U1APGC
I think based on the starting U1AP vs the S1AP actually determines which build is more current.
Case in point (for instance)
The T-Mobile Gear S2 Firmware:
R730TUVU1AOJ7_R730TTMB1AOJ7_USA T-Mobile Full FLash Firmware (original)
R730TUVU2BPC6_R730TTMB2BPC6_USA T-Mobile_4File Firmware (update)

When you look at the image OP posted it states July. The one I posted about states August.
Therefore:
N930AUC U1APGC (original)
N930AUC S1APH1 (update)
So I am wondering, did anyone else power on their phones out of the box and bypass all of the setup process to check firmware versions before inserting sim or connecting to a network?
Is it possible I have one of the earliest revisions of this phone compared to others?
I am mainly curious now because of this whole battery failure fiasco. I really do not want to wait to get a replacement and not be able to root due to an update.
this just appeared on a google search, wasn't out there(or indexed) previously.

Pre-owned U Ultra, what is latest UK software version

Hi Folks
Ive just picked up a pre-owned U Ultra, which is BNIB...
I bought it as Unlocked..
What is the latest Unlocked UK firmware and Google security patch?.
Thanks all
Allow me to answer, even though mine is a European unlocked single sim U Ultra...
Build #: 1.64.401.3
Security patch: 1st July 2017
Thank You friend.. Much appreciated for that, thats exactly what Ive got.. so thanks..
The reason I asked was when I look around the web and XDA all of the EU/UK updates state its still on 1.62.401.1.. I just wanted to check that someone hadnt installed a non-EU/UK rom.
So 1.64,, mustve been just the July security patch..
I know since the M8 / 9, HTC have done most of their updates over Google Play.. but July seems quite an old security patch for a 6 month old flagship device.
Thanks
You're welcome! I had the exact same question when I bought mine.
HTC is rather punctual regarding their updates. The only reason that can explain the security patch delay is the forthcoming oreo update. Fingers crossed...

Upgrade N910V without root?

Hi all - so I picked up a N910V and have hit a road block. Hoping someone has a solution because I love this phone. My employers BYOD program has some restrictions in place. I have to be running Android 5.5 or greater, security patch level of September 2017 or newer, and can not be rooted. Latest update that I've seen is from August. Do I have any options here or is this beauty hitting ebay?

SM-G975U not updating after April 2021 Patch

I just got this new S10+. However, I realized it's not receiving any updates, including the Android 11/One UI 4 update. I live in America and the csc code is TMK/TMK/VZW.
Base: G975USQU5GUCH
That looks like a Verizon/Comcast update build number. However, I use Metro By T-Mobile. The logo boot up is the logo that was used but it still fails to receive updates. Can anyone tell me what's happening
