Hi Folks
Ive just picked up a pre-owned U Ultra, which is BNIB...
I bought it as Unlocked..
What is the latest Unlocked UK firmware and Google security patch?.
Thanks all
Allow me to answer, even though mine is a European unlocked single sim U Ultra...
Build #: 1.64.401.3
Security patch: 1st July 2017
Thank You friend.. Much appreciated for that, thats exactly what Ive got.. so thanks..
The reason I asked was when I look around the web and XDA all of the EU/UK updates state its still on 1.62.401.1.. I just wanted to check that someone hadnt installed a non-EU/UK rom.
So 1.64,, mustve been just the July security patch..
I know since the M8 / 9, HTC have done most of their updates over Google Play.. but July seems quite an old security patch for a 6 month old flagship device.
Thanks
You're welcome! I had the exact same question when I bought mine.
HTC is rather punctual regarding their updates. The only reason that can explain the security patch delay is the forthcoming oreo update. Fingers crossed...
Hi, my Samsung S7 Edge, SM-G935W8, use to get monthly updates up until a few months ago. It's a Rogers, Canadian carrier, phone but it' unlocked and I use it with Vigrin Mobile Canada. I use to plug it into my computer and use Samsung Switch to update, and occasionally I would get a OTA update but nothing since Aug. Is there something I can do to force a new update? I don't want to root the phone or go to a custom ROM as I use my phone for work, have it encrypted, use Android Pay and RBC Wallet, Secure Folder, and other Samsung apps that I would prefer to stay unaffected.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Same here, have a g935fd, stuck on august security patch. The only thing to do is keep calm and wait patiently for the updates

I thought that the Samsung Switch program was suppose to be able to download/install updates as they became available from Samsung.
December's ending and i am still stuck on aug 1 security patch ... S7 edge SM-G935FD , region PAK.

I suggest you root your phone and install one of the s8 or n8 ported ROMs, which include the newest security patches..
I know i can root and install custom roms with latest security patches, but the problem is that samsung sucks when it comes to updates and especially its way of ignoring some regions/countries totally while providing to some, it really needs to change its priorities.

You can search for listings with official firmware released by Samsung for your device model.
For example (am a new user so link restricted):
www sammobile com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935W8
There are guides on XDA for flashing official firmware. The usual caveats being:
1. Potential loss of data
2. If unbranded then technologies like VoLTE / 4G / RCS may not be supported
3. Scary if it's your first time. Be gentle, take your time, and read the guide
You can flash with Odin in Download mode without voiding warranty because it's signed by Samsung.
Since it's for work you probably have a backup, but if you want to retain your data you can flash your HOME_CSC instead.
Have you contacted your carrier for more info?
Is your device being controlled with MDM policies by your business/enterprise, i.e. managed inhouse?
It seems you use it in public venues so hopefully you are using a VPN or similar for your business.
Good luck!
Just got the update .. a hefty one

New update and that too with V2 of bootloader. Its still to see how it effects on battery and performance, december security patch was indeed very good regarding battery and performance. V2 of bootloader suggests that maybe Oreo update is closer ..

I just got a new motherboard that is on PI3 with a October 31 2016 security date. I looking to do something that will allow me to use the mobile hotspot feature. I have seen that people have downgraded to PE1 or flashed the 930U rom. The only thing i would use root for is to access the hotspot maybe some other things later on. So my question is for user experience what is the best route to go now?

Hi I just got a new phone and I don't really care about what happens to my old phone, its a Galaxy s8 Snapdragon locked to Verizon running pie and the October 1st 2019 security Patch. I don't care if I trip knox since its warranty is already expired, I just want to play around with it, can you root it and install stock android? I was thinking of trying to get it down to Nougat first.

I don't think you can root the Snapdragon model
Hi,
does anybody know why the A20e isn't in the list of eligible devices for 4 years of security updates even though it was released in 2019 and the article states that devices from 2019 should be eligible?
Thanks,
Tobias
