7.0 Stock modems vs. MM? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am still on 6.0 TruePureMM and am considering updating to Stock 7.0.
For those already on 7.0, how do the modems for Cellular and Bluetooth compare with MM? Are you seeing a noticeable improvement? I am having some BT problems on 6.0 that I would like to clear up.
From my readings, it looks like all the Custom 7.1.x ROM (Lineage 14.1, etc) for the XT1575 are using the 6.0 Modems. Is that correct?
If Lenovo ever releases the source files for 7.x than will we see some Custom ROMs with all the Modem updates?

We already have the Nougat kernel source from the Style a couple months ago... and the binary blobs... developers are having issues integrating it, this all ROMs still require Marshmallow modem firmware.
The Bluetooth firmware on N is definitely better, no one anywhere has said anything different I have seen. As far as the modems go, there doesn't seem to be any improvement for CDMA or GSM, but VoLTE is improved especially for Verizon.

Just got my Nexus 6P and don't know what to flash

I've unlocked and rooted. I have several questions atm:
1. Is Nougat stable or recommended?
2. Can I use exposed framework/Viper4android on Nougat?
3. Can I flash back to Mashmellow after flash nougat and don't like it?
Thank you in advance.

1. Yes, for the most part.
7.0 ROMs are based on official 7.0 source and are very stable. 7.1 ROMs are also generally stable, but they aren't based on stable source for the 6p because google hasn't released it yet. Though it seems official 7.1.1 will be coming to the 6p next week.
There is a bit of a transition period right now as ROMs are going from 7.0 > 7.1.
2. Last a heard is that Xposed isn't ready for Nougat. But I'm not sure about Viper. I do not use either one.
3. Yes.

Thanks. I just found that viper4android can work on Nougat. I am still thinking to flash mashmellow and wait for Nougat to go mature.
Flash resurrection ROM you won't be disappointed

Recommendation for a stable Marshmallow ROM with a few features please.

I know these ROM request threads are posted and I apologize for not having found the answer myself. :/
I'm currently using AICP_Clark_lp-10.0-NIGHTLY-20151124 (Android 5.1.1) on my XT1575 and just need a newer ROM for a variety of reasons I'm sure.
I'm not sure what advantages Marshmallow has to Lollipop but I've heard updates to LTE on the Moto X Pure were pushed out at some point by Motorola (and I have terrible reception by my house). I'm also hoping to improve battery life.
-I want to continue using Xposed framework (which I think I can do on Marshmallow).
-Stable camera, bluetooth, wifi, etc (obviously)
-Notification light behind top speaker. I have this on my current ROM (AICP_Clark_lp-10.0-NIGHTLY-20151124) so I hope it exists on newer ones.
-Magisk or something similar for root. I'm currently using superSU and would like to be able to hide root from certain apps (Pokemon GO).
I'm using StraightTalk via AT&T (and like I said, am having terrible LTE issues and all around terrible reception in rural areas near walls...? I'm really not sure what the issue is).
Thanks for the suggestions.
Since you are on Lollipop, you should first go back to stock Marshmallow and get up to a version with a security patch up towards the end of 2016... This will get you on the correct bootloader, partition table, and radios, after that just flash the latest TWRP and the ROM of your choice... The radios in Marshmallow are much better than Lollipop, but as far as battery goes you won't see any real difference regardless of ROM or Android version, the screen often takes 70+% of the battery of this device and that is just the way it is, no software change will effect that.
To be honest, most custom ROM's do not support Xposed except stock, so stay simple like the a version of CM13 or the last version of Marshmallow Dirty Unicorns, but most Marshmallow ROMs for the X are extremely stable and solid. Note many Marshmallow ROMs are not being developed or even maintained anymore either, but almost all will provide the few requirements you have.

Moto X Pure (XT1575) Nougat Update and Custom ROMs

I currently have a Moto X Pure with ResurictionRemix (7.1.2) on it, with the last version of stock being the last Marshmallow update. Would there be any benefit to update the phone to stock Nougat (updating the bootloader, modem, etc.) and install another custom rom onto the phone, or will that cause issues (unable to install a custom rom). Thank you for your time.

So not that it would cause issues if you upgraded to 7.0 then to a custom ROM... It literally isn't possible. Honestly if I were you I'd stick on custom ROMs. Going back to stock to upgrade to stock 7.0 will be a huge pain in the ass if you ever wish to go back to custom ROMs again. Honestly, not really a benefit to stock 7.0, and I wouldn't recommend especially if you wanted to change back again if you didn't enjoy stock 7.0.
So what I'm saying is you can't upgrade to stock 7.0, then to a custom ROM, as none are compatible with the new bootloader introduced with stock nougat. And to revert to stock 6.0 from stock 7.0 is kinda sketchy...just read around the help forum for this phone here to know what I mean
Sorry for the formatting, hope that makes sense
There's only 1 custom ROM (check the Lineage 14.1 thread) that works with the 7.0 firmwares that anybody has made public. I don't seem to have much free time to work on getting any of my builds to work on 7.0 firmware. So if you want to upgrade to 7.0 you get stock or Lineage 14.1. Not that there were a lot of options before.

Radio, baseband flashing!?

Hi all.
Have noticed some terrible 4g speeds and wondered if the radio can be flashed on its own?
If so what would the preferred method be?
Calls are usually ok but messaging and internet speed could be better.
Update: just updated the kernel to version 15 (lightening)
May just be me but it seems to have made an impact, saw 4G+ for the first time in a while almost straight after flashing it.
I had it in my head that the radio was separate to the kernel has something changed since the older versions of android ? I also don't see a lot of talk of firmware versions? On my previous devices you had to update it yourself prior to a change of base otherwise certain things would fail.
Having the proper base firmware is more of a concern if you are running a custom AOSP or LOS ROM. OOS based custom kernels that are updated regularly are generally made to work with specific builds of OOS--when OnePlus releases a new build of OOS some commits in the stock kernel are usually changed and custom kernels are updated to also incorporate the changes. The custom OOS kernels generally assume that you are running the most up to date version of OOS. If you are running an old build of OOS with a kernel made for a newer build you might encounter some bugs or stability issues.

Thanks for replying. I'm currently running pure fusion which is not OOS.
When I've been on OOS I've just been flashing the latest no limits ROM.. however as with past devices I've sometimes had to install newer firmwares to gain functionality and at times radios /baseband /modems. But have heard no talk about any of that on the Oneplus, is this something that's done when flashing a ROM? I'd have thought that phones may have different names but wouldn't be too dissimilar in that way.
Overall i just think that my device has had better data speeds and stability than it has before and I couldn't think of anything which would affect it more than flashing a different (potentially more efficient) baseband.
I've no idea how to even recognise the firmware I'm on on this phone.. or where to grab the firmware from, I know the command to flash it as I've done it a lot on my old devices.

Custom Roms: Nougat vs MM

For those who tested both version of custom roms, what u guys liked and did not liked?
i'm new here and i already tested invicta, rr, viper and aex (aex is the best so far). i will test some mm custom roms for now

I believe Nougat ROMs will be better than Marshmallow ROMs.
Just one reason, time gap between release of G4/G4+ and Nougat is nearly 3 months (so development period will be less than 3 months), when actual development of custom ROMs was started, little after Nougat was announced. So developers haven't got enough time for development of MM. There will be device specific bugs.
I have tried OrionOS, it was fine!

I had tried invicta, rr, aosp extended, viper, aex too, then vanadium, telsa, los. I preferred rr for its customization capability and los for stability. Aosp for simplicity but los is there.
All i had tried were nougat based, and i was not liking mm as there were no significant update in there after lollipop (a major one).
Specific to Moto G4+, the device was introduced at a time when Nougat was nearing official release, so custom ROM development for Athene obviously started with MM - the version phones were shipped out with. Within a few months (Nov 2016 ish) Nougat overtook as the preferred Android version for both devs and users, across LOS and AOSP based roms. This was mainly due to Nougat offering considerable improvement over MM, which just as the last post points out, was merely a refinement of Lollipop.
IME, those who stuck with MM were mostly ones who couldn't do without Xposed, or prolly were ones who cautiously waited for an official firmware upgrade by Lenovo.
Based on my own experience, I find RR N to be far superior than RR M, in terms of performance and stability both. The fact that customization options which lie at core of RR didn't change much over the two Android versions should further point to why N is preferable over MM.
Invicta's fate sadly hangs in uncertainty and that is a huge loss given SileshNair consistently worked to get us stock-rom level stability and robustness on super feature rich ROMs.
Unless you're particular about being on the latest Android version, currently the best combination would be RR N whose recent version come shipped with Spectrum to let you choose the gov profile of your choice. Or you can go step further and get flar2's legendary ElementalX to tweak your phone all the way up! Plus with official Xposed N and rapidly updated stable mods , you can have best of all worlds - performance, features, battery life and functionality.
Tho I did switch over to Invicta Oreo a fortnight ago, I can still vouch for RR N + ElementalX + xposed (with greenify, amplify, xposed edge et al) combo to be most rewarding.
