I have the Fire HD 10 pre-ordered but noticed that when in portrait mode using the cover, the power plug will be on the bottom. Can I flip it so the plug is at the top, allowing me to charge it while in portrait?

Yes, it supports reverse portrait mode. I use mine like that so the headphone port is at the bottom as well. Much easier!

hi , i have a new htc tytn and i found that when ever i click the power button to waken out of the stand by mode the screen is in the landscape mode( even though the slide pad is closed) for 1-2 sec and then realigns to the portrait mode.
Is this a know issue ???
It does that if you first take it out of the case that comes with it. It senses the magnet in the case cover and puts it in landscape then realizes it's not anymore and then switches to portrait. Annoying yeah. I got a new case for it which is better and doesn't do that anymore.

thank you Thaim for the answer...
you are so very right,,,,
So after using the TF for a week or so, I can't decide his to orient the pad while using it in portrait mode. Sometimes it is Camera on the right side. This orientation places the power and sound buttons on top but the headphone jack is on the bottom. Sometimes the other way around. I am curious how others use the TF and if they actuallyhave given this any thought
Whenever I use it in portrait its usually for web browsing or reading books, the placement of the power/volume buttons doesn't really bother me. I usually just have them on the top since its easier to reach up than down.
I orient it however it lets me have the tablet connected to the mains if i need to charge it while i'm using it...stupid short cable

You gotta get yourself a USB 3.0 extension cable. I can actually sit on my couch and charge my TF at the same time now.
In portrait mode, I always use it with the power button up top. It just seems more natural that way.
I use the Netflix and Slingplayer apps on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Unlike many apps, they won't flip if you turn the tab upside down. If I'm looking at a long program or movie, it's nice to be able to keep the charger plugged into the tab, which is pretty much impossible with the tab in normal landscape orientation. Is there any technique or app available which will allow or force the screen to run upside down so I could attach the charging cable to the top?

Want this too
It would also have to force the audio to reverse, I think. Sometimes while using Splashtop to watch a video I'll have to charge the tab. While Splashtop will reorient the screen, it doesn't reverse the stereo speakers. This is a pretty device-specific issue, though, so I don't expect a rapid response from the Splashtop people (they still need to fix Bluetooth mouse support in remote sessions!).
Anyway, first world problems and all, but it would be nice to have a fix.
I have the acer iconia a500 and a samsung monitor with pivot function. if i plug in the hdmi cable i would like to use the tablet in portrait mode, but i found no way. have anybody an idea how to use the tablet in portrait mode if it is plugged to the monitor.
YES
My samsung tv does this also.. GO into the settings of the Monitor/ tv.. there is a toggle to change this in there... You cant do it from the tablet. unless you try the Rotation lock app in the marker.. That could work thou i have not tried it...
thanks for the fast answer. i have a picture attached so you can see how i use my computer monitor. in the monitor settings i can't change nothing. and using a rotating lock app have no effect. the tablet turns every time into landscape...
more ideas??
The OS rotates fine so that any edge can be the bottom (or top, depending on how you visualize it) but apps that lock into either portrait or landscape mode use either the HDMI edge or the POGO edge as the bottom and I can't find a way to change this. With a pogo charging cable finally available, I'd like to be able to set my Nexus 10 on a stand with the pogo port on top but that doesn't work with apps that force landscape mode because they are determined to have the pogo port on the bottom.
It seems like the OS should have an option for flipping the tablet's default orientations so apps that want to force landscape or portrait modes can at least be flipped within those modes. Am I missing something obvious?
