Auto Emergency Calls - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hey Guys really need some help here. For some odd reason my phone dials the Emergency Number automatically. Usually happens when I lock it with the power button but also sometimes happens when the phone is locked. It's starting to get really annoying and just a while ago it actually called the emergency call centre and they picked up. It was pretty scary. Could some please help me out? It's an LG V20 H990DS btw.
Thanks!

Phone locks "on call" - phone app crash

Hi,
I faced this problem too often, so I ask on this forum to know if it only happens to me:
when I end the call, telephone programs stucks. In the top bar, the indication of an on going call is still there. Everything is working except telephone application. I can't open the telephone options. Even if I turn on Airplane mode, the phone logo in the top bar remains.
Any idea?
I had that problem once. Did it occur when you dialed a number not in your phone book? It turned out the prompt for saving a new dialed number was still there but I somehow couldn't access it. Perhaps turn that setting off?
no, it was an outgoing call to someone in my phonebook. (at least in my last problem)
facing the same problem. after ending a call the phone app freeze a couple of minutes and sometimes more than ten minutes
Did you installed the HTC patch to avoid the freeze ?
I didn't.
Could it be usefull there ?
This is really annoying if you have to wait 10mn before doing an another call !
Problem happened again
The problem happened again yesterday.
But worse. I was leaving a message on an answering machine. and I couldn't end the call !
Pressing the right key (end call) had no effect !
Usually in my previous problems, the other user was ending the call.
So I had to switch off the phone in comm manager !
I'm surprised that no one else faced this problem !
I tried to follow one's advice to wait then until phone gets back to normal. (release the phone icon in the top bar).
After one hour, I finaly rebooted the phone to be able to do an outgoing call.
Help !
Phone blocks during or after a call
Hello guys and girls
I had the same problem last week, a couple of times in a row, I was on the phone with a contact, after a couple of minutes I couldn't hear anything anymore and tried to end the call but no joy, a soft reset did the thing the first time, the second I waited a couple of minutes wich worked aswell. It was very annoying I must say especially as it happened 4 times in a row...
Hoping for a solution

It seems a bug. You can press volume up/down buttons on the device itself to open the volume bar screen. After that just press somewhere on the grey area to go back to home screen. The top bar will restore from the phone application.
It's not the top bar. The phone application is completely unavailable.
We see the top bar,but the phone icon is stuck. Like if we were still on call.
I too have a similar problem.
Although I haven't particularly logged the prolems, I think that it only happens on incoming calls, and not outgoing ones.
During a phone call, the incoming sound just goes mute, and afterwards I can't hang up the call.
I reckon I have lost well over half the calls I have received because of this.
Luckily, not many people call me!!
I reckon this is a CRAP phone, and am seriously thinking of getting a REAL phone, and just using the HD as a PDA device. Good old HTC!!!!!!
I edited the title of this topic.
The phone app is really stucked : I called an answering machine, I wasn't able to end the call !
Help !
I am thinking of changing ROM.

Vibration vibrates without pausing?

Hi guys,
I'm a new user to the TP, so i'm not sure this is normal or problematic?
When I put my cell on vibrating by sliding the switch on top, and when someone calls me, the phone vibrates nonstop without any intermediate pauses. Is this normal for TP? If so, is there a way to make it vibrates with pauses? I really cant get used to constant vibration for now. Thanks!!

Palm sucks ass for this!!! they know about the problem & they refuse to do anything about it.
Inesoft phone 4 or 5 actually fixes this problem. it's stupid that you have to pay $30 to fix something that should actually work out of the box

Vibrate Mode Problem

Hi all, I'm new to the Samsung Galaxy S4 so bare with me. When I have the phone in the vibrate mode and I have an incoming call, it only vibrates once, like on the first ring only. I can't seem a setting anywhere to make it continuously until the call is either picked up, hangs up or goes to voicemail. I am using Missed Message Flasher so I"m not sure if that has screwed up something or is there a setting I'm missing here. I usually just leave my phone in vibrate mode all the time.
Any help appreciated.

Accidental Emergency Call

Has anyone had issues with accidentally calling the emergency number when cleaning off the fingerprint scanner? It's getting pretty annoying and was wondering if by any possibility, there is some way to add another way of calling the emergency number?
You managed to call the emergency number, just by touching the scanner?
How?

I am having the same issue! I couldn't figure out what was causing it so I googled "LG G6 accidental emergency calls, and I found your comment. I tested your theory of it happening as a result of trying to clean the finger print scanner and I found it to be true! I have had my phone for about a week and a half now, and I have accidentally dialed the police department about 7 times! It is HIGHLY annoying as they will dial back on 911 hang up calls and I am constantly having to explain that I am a moron and don't know how to use my phone! Do you have the US or International version?

Try turning the phone off before cleaning it.
As a former 911 operator, if you accidentally call 911, just stay on the line and let the operator know it was an accidental call instead of hanging up. If you hang up, the operator has to call you back and then they're not available to take an actual emergency call.

The problem is, before today, when I tested MrHaPpy66's theory, I didn't even know I had dialed 911. I had no idea what was causing the miss-dials The phone was in my pocket and I would only know that I had dialed 911 once 911 dialed me back! TODAY, I read MrHaPpy66's account and actually tested the theory by using a cloth to rub the finger print sensor and sure enough, my phone dialed 911. Turning my phone off every time I put it in my pocket kind of defeats the purpose of having a mobile phone, so that's out of the question. Hopefully, LG will come out with an update that fixes this issue.
Wow, I was never notified of any replies to my thread. Thanks for testing out my theory. Briley, I have an international version I guess? It's an Asian variant of the G6. I wonder why LG would've opted for such a sensitive spot to be the emergency call trigger. Should we report to LG so that they may release a fix?

I've been doing that lately as I have already made multiple emergency calls to the police. I would have at least thought LG would've mentioned they had added this feature to the device.
Okay, so I Googled this and found that many other people have this issue and not just with the G6. Many people "pocket dial" 911. Their suggested solution is to install an alternate lock screen app.

I thought that was only a fix for those that have the "emergency call" button on the lockscreen? The emergency call is apparently a fingerprint scanner gesture on the G6 by the looks of it

Okay. Thank you. I didn't know that. I am new to the G6. What are the gestures that can be used?

There aren't any other from what I know. I don't know why the phone dials the emergency number when you clean the scanner with a cloth. I thought someone else might have known :/

I have had the EXACT same issue with my LG G6. Rubbing the finger print scanner with a cloth or even sometimes rubbing it with my finger triggers the phone to dial 911. It has happened when the phone was in my pocket as well. It's quite annoying. I hope they identify whatever is causing this and rectify it in a future code update.
If you triple-press the power button quickly - it dials the emergency number!
I have a feeling this has only started after a previous update.
While triple-clicking automatically dials the Emergency Number, I don't quite think its the answer for why i've been facing this problem.
For me it usually happens just after i turn the phone off and put it down (usually in a hurry). Occasionally happens when i put it in my pocket too.
I know I'm not triple-pressing the button then, (also because i have a case on - making the button more recessed and hard to press).
I feel like there's also some sort of sliding gesture on the fingerprint/power button -- but I can't replicate it.

cant answer calls after updating LineageOS Nightlies

Hello friends,
Hopefully someone can answer my question. So I have an AT&T LG V20, and I recently updated to the lineage-14.1-20180308-nightly-h910, and when ever I receive a call, my phone rings, but I don't have a screen that will allow me to answer the call. Simultaneously, I don't have an icon in my status bar to switch over to answer the call. Plus, if I do make a call through Google phone, there is no screen that will allow me to end the call or have a touch pad to press for options during a call. does anyone know how to fix this?? Please help.

I don't have an answer but you probably should submit a bug report and then go back to the previous nightly that worked properly. Maybe the next nightly will fix the problem?

I think I may have figured it out. In the "App info" screen, there is a subsection named "phone." And underneath it says "no" click on that and I get sent to another page so I can choose the Google phone as my phone, or, I would assume, some other 3rd party phone app.
Glad it's sorted. I've noticed some odd behavior on this phone, when I get an update I sometimes have to open up the "Settings" and review that nothing has changed and reset the stuff that has changed.
I never had to do this with any other phone, maybe yours is doing the same thing?
