hello! i've searched but didnt find any help with my problem. When my jasjar rings (incomming call) and after i press the answer button (the green one) i need to wait about 1 to 2 seconds before i can hear the person that is calling me...strange...did this ever happen to you? how can i solve this problem? Thanks in Advance
Yes, i have the same problem on my MDA Pro
After pressing the green button, i have to wait 3 secounds with speaking.
I had the same problem and now is solved.
In phone/options/band select WCDMA (not automatic)
i think that didnt solve the problem...sorry...thanks
I have the same probelm on the incoming call. However, i finally realized that it's the problem on the Pocket Plus V3.0.4 installed on the system.
It appear to be normal once i removed the program.
It's the case for me, and i hope it would help you as well
I too have this problem with my I-Mate Jasjar. I need to wait for a few seconds after hitting the answer button before I can hear the calling party. I did a hard reset and installed the latest wwe ROM available on clubimate site. The problem still persists even without any third party software installed. So I do not blame pocketplus for this problem. I think this is a software/hardware issue which should be addressed in a ROM upgrade.
I have the same problem with my JasJar. I have also updated to the lates ROM from clubImate by advice from clubImate support.
Sometimes the phone does not even answer the call at all when pressing the green button. This is becoming an even more expensive phone since I have to call back so many people on account of missed calls
Seriously, It cannot be right that a problem like this exists on a phone in this price range. ClubImate support even said they had never heard of this problem before.
i did a few hard resets and the problem persists without any extra software installed. "Very bad bug". i've already test a K-jam and it works beautifull...i'm sad
Got my XDA Exec today. It's pretty good but is not the same as my XDA2. Even less phone. More PDA...
If I turn my machine off in landscape mode and then close the lid with the screen out (like the XDA2) then when a call arrives it takes ages to answer because the screen has to rotate first to portrait mode.
If I turn off and close in laptop mode (landscape) then it rings immediately and I can answer it immediately using the hinge buttons.
Maybe it is the same for you?
i have noticed it seems to be quicker to goto portrait than to landscape in all respects of use
ok, lets try it...thanks
how i test it: jasjar "on" charging, open in portait mode. same delay.
L to P is roughly twice as long for me.
going to L i get twist and flip and the display is done ready and waiting
going to P i get twist and flip then get a 2s ish of L before it flips to P
this was battery power
*** its the same on mains and battery !

When my Exec is on, the rotation is pretty much instant. I have no apps running. It's only when a phone call wakes it up that the rotation is slooooow.
My Qtek 9100 also take app. 5 sec before it rings, and the S100 I had before was the same. My dad has an XDA mini, same problem. It seems like pocket plus will increase the problem, but even without any extra software its not working perfect. Its strange after such long time, they havent been able to solve simple problems like theese.
I also get this, Its very annying. Maybe they incorperated it so you can answer the call asap and the before it acually picks up, you have a few seconds to turn the screen round and see whos calling ect?
I have an Exec and there is certainly a knack to answering a call on it, but i'm getting better!!!
Firstly the voicemail seems to kick in way too early, i only get 4 rings of the 'ring' ringtone max before the VM kicks in, sometimes i think it is less, but i may just be going deaf! does anyone else find this a problem?(not deafness)
As i usually have the exec closed in my pocket, this is how i answer a call.
1, Hear the first ring, if i don't it's too late already!
2, Drop everything, and remove phone(ha!) from case and open into laptop mode only. If i rotate all the way into PDA mode the screen takes too long to change and the call goes to VM before i can see who it is.
3, Answer call after seeing who it is
4, Rotate or close screen and put to my ear and wait 2 seconds to speak.
It's a real pain in the arse and very annoying.
Great forum btw, it's been very helpful, i knew bugger all about PDAs three weeks ago.
Ian
Which button(s) do you have success with?
The small green on the side,
the green above the other keys on the keyboard,
the soft key button,
or touching the screen?

If you're using the Exec on o2, you can adjust the cut-in delay at the o2 end. You do so by keying in/sending the following to o2:
**61*901*11*xx# [send]
(where xx is number of seconds, e.g. 30.)
Note: I think the maximum delay allowed is about 30-secs - at least I've never got it to extend longer than that!
I have found that o2 occasionally reset mine back to about 10-secs, so have it programmed into a contact number.
HTH
I've found something interesting.
I tried to swap two sim cards.
<boring>
The one originally in my phone was a sim card from Orange Denmark (where I live). Orange has since been bought by Telia, and this same sim card is now using Telias network. This is by design. It gives my the roaming symbol all the time since the buy-over.
To say the least, some things have been very ****ty in this process, so I thougt that I might try another sim card.
</boring>
I had another one from TDC (another danish operator), and bang! My Universal (Jasjar) answers instantly - every time - on all the buttons!
Could some of you who have this problem as well, please confirm this? Please tell what kind of sim card (and country) you are networking through, and try another one.
Since I've had slide 2 unlock installed since day 1, I'm not sure if its that, the Mogul, or Sprint, but everytime I get a call, the phone turns on, shows me the locked screen and waits a good 2-3 seconds before the ringer starts and then a split second later the ID.
It seems like if it were slide 2 unlock somebody else would have had mentioned the problem there. It could also me being thick and this is just an extension of the common problem where the caller gets like 3 rings in b4 we get a ring(I have done that "hack" but don't believe it does anything.)
Kind of annoying when I see it light up, know I'm getting a call but can't answer or see who it is. Anybody know how to fix it, or at least give me an explanation so I at least have some sort of answer for people asking me wtf my phone is doing.

I get the same on my phone, and I also have S2U, don't know if that causes it or not. Try turning it off and then have someone call you and see if it still does it, that'll tell you.
I personally just don't worry about it. It gives me time to grab the phone.
i have the same thing, for voice calls as well as SMS. i do not have slide2unlock.
i really hate this and would even be happy if the screen would just stay off until the ringer starts - im fine with the delay, but anytime my phone is on for anything i think its about to ring...
You could just not look at the phone until it rings, although it's a hard habit to break, I feel ya.
But i think it has something to do with the phone needing to wake up before a notification box can even pop up
1. I read that when a call is coming in and you turn it face down, it should mute the ringing. Doesnt happen here, how do you enable it?
2. When someone is calling me and i press the Mute Ring button, it doesnt mute the device or stop the vibration. Any ideas on this?
3. When i slide to ignore, it displays the call as missed, while it's not, i chose to ignore it, any way to fix that?
4. The phone part seems very slow, when dialed first the active call icon pops up then after some time the answer/ignore part comes up then again you wait some time until the ringing/vibration starts and when you answer it it takes a while for the vibration to stop. Also when the person calling hangs up, it continues to ring/vibrate for a while. Gotta say, that's the most annoying part, otherwise i love the phone...
Seems like you have an unwanted caller eh

Heh... no, simply testing and being disappointed
The phone program is by far the worst in WinMo imo, like everything else.
#1. if the phone is face down it will not mute; if it is face up and you turn it face down it will mute. it's not instant for me; takes about 2 seconds.
#2 is working for me; ringing and vibrating stops about 1 second after button press. not experiencing the other issue
#3 This (as i understand it) is expected behavior.
#4 i guess slow is relative to past experiences, in my case it's behaving as i expect it to.
Hi Developers!
I'm new here, although i've been reading the forum for a couple of weeks now.
I had a flash yesterday night, that we need a program/mod that allows us to vibrate the phone by shaking it if there is a new message.
My phone usually in a pouch, and i always have to take it out at least to check if the led is flashing. Would be nicer to shake, and it would vibrate in response.
[(if newmessage = 1 AND tiltingactive = 1) then vibrate]
Thinking about something like this
Is there a program like this exists, or would anybody be so kind making, or implementing it to an other program for us?
Comments are welcome.
Happy diamonding for next year too

Hope some more people fancy this idea
Indeed...to all of you HAPPY (*DIAMOND*) NEW YEAR!

Ya +1 it sounds awesome....dunno hw u ppl get such supeb ideas......
Ermm.. I thought thatz already in the vibrate settings?
I think you missed the point.
Very neat idea indeed
in silent mode my phone is vibrating log for calls and tree time short for SMS, in factory seting, original ROM
Another one, who missed the point - we're talking here about an app that would respond by vibration after we shake the phone in case there's a new (unread) message.
as far as i know this isn't possible, when your phone is in standby mode, 3rd party applications can't interact with it, so you'd have to turn the phone on first before shaking it, which would be pointless.
I was afraid of that. But yes - there's a point - Diamond (for example) doesn't "blink" with the alert LEDs when in standby.

but the ring around the nav-pad "blinks"
If there is a text comes, it automatically wakes up the phone(there is an option somewhere to check it). The ring around the navipad also flashes.
Interesting improvement would be to tell you how much text arrived by vibrating twice, 3 times, etc after shaking...
How about using one of those expanded alert programs setting it to vibrate every 30 sec when you have new messages. It would save you even having to take the phones out of your pockets.
This is a great idea!
My diamond normally sits inside its beyza case, where I have easy access to the button on top of the device, but have to use 2 hands to take it out the case. It would be so useful to be able to quickly tap the button to take the phone off standby, and shake it and wait for a vibrating response.
Sounds good, but we need a professional to implement. Anybody volunteers?

Why shake it?
Then I would use lightsensor, when carrying = dark. So tapping butting makes it shake the amount of messages and goes back to standby again within 5 seconds.
Why AND push button AND shake?
Hhm... it would be enough just to beep or vibrate every 2 minutes until you read the message. My old samsung R210 could do that, and it was a pretty handy feature.
I've made something up that alley some months ago, check out my signature (3 utilities) and VibraNotify.
My concept was to vibrate when there's been activity while your phone was left on i.e. a table and you pick it up again...
The point of it is if you've missed SMS, while it's in the leather case or whatever you use - you shake it and it vibrates. which i think its useful, saves you having to take it out the case, and either look at the ring light or turning it on to check.
having it vibrate every 2 minutes would be a bit crazy as it would kill your battery surely?
Well, thanks to audiophil, it seems the problem solved with vibranotify. I haven't tried it yet tho, somebody could give a feedback about it.
When I call my voicemail [using google voice] it wants me to enter my pin.
1. Isn't there a way to program the dialer to pause, then enter the pin automatically?
2. I notice that the phone acts very quirky when on a call. In order to do anything when on a call I have to turn it so that it is in portrait mode, not landscape because it sort of 'sleeps' once I am on a call.
3. Being the phone wants to sleep when I am on a call, I can't seem to find a way to get back to the phone app and hit the RED 'end' button at times ..
Sort of hard to explain but maybe someone can do a better job if you have found the same problem. I love this BIG phone. I wouldn't even object to an extended battery.

Don't know about point 1 but i have just read that when making a phone call it has to be in portrait mode and as you bring it up to your face the proximity sensors will turn off your display to prevent unintentional touches is that what you were on about or have i got it all wrong
I don't understand all the technical stuff but to hold it, it has to be in portrait mode, but even if you have the speaker on and it is on it's back on the table, you can't press the keypad [once the call has begun] unless it is in portrait mode. I would like to turn off 'sleep' while I am on a call .. REALLY annoying.
SUGGESTION: Don't make any prank calls until you know that phone inside and out because sometimes hanging up the phone is close to impossible. Unless it's just me.

AHHHH so its you makeing all the prank calls to me LOL.
It dosen't say anything in the manual on turning off the sleep i will do a google and have a look
sssshhhh ... don't tell .. I have lots more calls to make
But seriously .. I called to check my voice mail and somehow the dialpad went off the screen .. Tried pushing buttons, but there apparently isn't one that will bring it back up .. Mean while I hear the recording saying the same "enter your 4 digit pin over and over." I would if I could find the dial pad again !!! Same if you are leaving a message .. if the screen sleeps, you are fumbling around trying to get it to come back up to click END.
Yes i have had quite some issues with it as a phone, specially when it rings but the screen is still in sleep mode for some reason. So you have to turn it on from sleep then hit the unlock before answering. This is a long process to accept phone calls, also when you answer the phone my ears always seem to hit the screen which triggers the apps menu....
I have had it since launch day and been trying to use it as a primary phone but i don't think thats working out. But as an MID its amazing I love using it, the screen is nice and great using it a a ebook reader.
When I get a phone call my screen comes on, unlocked and ready to answer.
My slight issues are my face is too small to go from the ear piece to the mic LoL
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I too am having the same issues as many on here.
A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G is what it is!
I can;t even hear anything out of the earpiece in the phone, although i can if i turn it on speaker...not a happy bunny as now i have to wait for a replacement!
One question tho, which has been driving me insane...
Does anyone know if there is some kind of 'file-explorer' for accessing the conent on the SD card?
The only way i've found so far to even get close to the files is through 'QuickOffice'... Would've thought they'd be a more 'convenient' approach to it...
Any ideas?
Yesterday I purchased a program called 'screeb.' It is supposed to be able to prevent 'sleep' when you are actually still using it among other things like battery saving things .. I haven't tested it yet but maybe others have ??

There are several free file explorers in the Market .. As for sound.. are you sure you are putting the right end to your ear ?? Seriously .. It would be easy to make that mistake when everything is dark ..

Yeah, definetly got it at the right ear
Will have a look round for a file explorer then, i just thought it would have came with one...silly me! lol!
If I had the phone on speaker and put it to my ear it would deafen me I think. Speaker is VERY loud. Could it be that you have the TTY feature turned on? [ I think that is what it is called, not even sure what it does.] I just can't understand why it won't work as a phone.
I have been trying to use BT only when using it as a phone. I am very afraid my earrings are going to scratch the screen.
I was trying to decide if maybe I should put the sim from my streak back into my iphone and then move the sim from my HTC Shift into the Streak until I got more used to using it. Especially if I am going to use it a lot for voice. I also use my phone for data more than voice.
ALSO .. wondering what an extended battery would be like .. Make it harder to hold? or give you something to hold on to... Right now my hand has to really stretch to grasp the phone ..
ANYWAY ... enough with all this thinking .. I should have been at work 15 minutes ago and I haven't even gotten in the shower.

I love British expressions ... Lately I notice that people in the USA are using them more and more .. The one that annoys me the most .. BECAUSE IT IS NOT OURS TO USE is the expression "gone missing." Everyone who is missing has "gone missing" and until about 1 or 2 years ago it belonged to YOU ... What I am trying to say is I like when YOU use them, but when WE do it sounds WRONG.

Your voice mail issue should be fixed by downloading the tmobile visiual voice mail its simple fast free. Also your sleep issues should be fixed with 2.2. I know with my N1 when I move the down it turns on.

Try oi file manager on market. It'll do what you want.

I have everything with Tmobile but it won't let me install tmobile visual voice. Actually it says it is installed, but I can't activate it.
Just got off the phone with Tmobile and they turned on Visual Voice for me. Good. Next on the agenda is when a call ends getting back the dial pad so I can hang up ...

1. You can long press * on dialpad, it will show "p", then enter pin.
It can also be used in the contacts (just type p).
2. no idea...

Maybe I throw my hands in the air to fast, but I shut off google voice and went back to tmobile 'visual voicemail.' It is sort of the same but I will miss google's voice to text translation via email SOOOOO MUCH ... It is probably the most entertaining application that I have ever had. I like to forward them to the person who left the voicemail and say "what?????"
It seems funny. But I can't use google voice here ;-(
