Hi,
I just wanted to create a place where all the Variants are listed for a better overview:
WLAN (Wi-Fi) only
SGP311 (16GB)
SGP312 (32GB)
GSM/HSPA+/LTE
SGP321 (16GB)
GSM: 850, 900. 1800, 1900
UMTS: 1, 5, 8
LTE: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20
SGP331 ?
SGP341 (16GB)
GSM: 850, 900. 1800, 1900
UMTS: 2, 4, 5
SGP351 (16GB)
GSM: 850, 900. 1800, 1900
UMTS: 2, 4, 5
LTE: 4
SO-03E (32 GB)
GSM: 850, 900. 1800, 1900
UMTS: 1, 5, 6, 19
LTE: 1, 19 ,21
Additional information:
SGP341 and SGP351 are identical in hardware!!
So with a SGP351 FW on the SGP341 you can enable LTE band 4
SO-03E can be debranded with SGP321 Firmware - but the 32GB Memory will be formated as 16GB
Greetings
UserX10
If there is a mistake or you have additional information - please let me know.
Thanks to all users below for providing additional information.
SGP341 is HSPA+ only (no LTE) 16GB.
Bands:
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
I'm looking for a white global LTE model (SGP321), but as far as I can see anywhere, only the 32GB wifi only comes in white (not interested in Docomo branded hardware.
If anyone has any links or reliable purchasing sources with worldwide shipping for this, please post.
Sony Tablet Z
The "SGP351" model number is for an HSPA/LTE variant that appears to be for T-Mobile USA. I am too new to post links but you can find a link to the FCC filing for the device, as well as SGP341, via TmoNews or Wireless Goodness.
Yes, I am keeping a close eye on this one.
Does any of the variants comes with a charger in the box ?
Mine was Docomo version - comes with Headphones & Charging Dock !!

The SO-03E (docomo version) only supports LTE bands 1/19/21
Currently with stock firmware at least anyway, maybe when developers get their hands on a modem files from the SGP321 the other bands might get unlocked, unless its a hardware restriction

Band support is hardware-limited. The only thing you can hope for in some cases is unlocking additional modes in already-supported bands (like Nexus 4 LTE support for 1700 MHz.)
Qualcomm's WTR RF frontends support nearly all bands in existence *but not simultaneously in a single device* - bandswitching and filters are unique to each device.
Take a look at the first diagram at http://www.anandtech.com/show/6541/the-state-of-qualcomms-modems-wtr1605-and-mdm9x25 - the RFFE portion of that diagram differs between each device.

Well I knew that it was likely going to be hardware limited, but staying hopeful that unlocking of additional bands is possible later when more developers get their hands on the TZ.
Being able to use 4G would be a big plus, although I am still perfectly happy with my HSPA+
Wait a minute aint LTE suppose to be backward compatible? I.E should do 3g and HSPA+ ?? I mean I dont have to buy 4G sim just to use with SGP321...
I think you should also clarify which GSM and HSPA+ bands each device supports
SO-03E supports:
GSM: 850, 900. 1800, 1900
UMTS: 1, 5, 6, 19
LTE: 1, 19 ,21
this is from the service menu.

The SIM is the same. The enduser can turn the capability on and off depending which contract he has.
So from this case it is backward compatible.
But seen from the technical side it is not backward compatible, a handover is done between 3G and 4G.
3G/HSPA+ is WCDMA also known as UMTS
LTE is a OFDM modulation
So the technology is completely different

No what I meant was the simslot in the z should accept both 3g and 4g simcards. which you mentioned in the first line.
It's there a Wi-Fi only version? I wanna get one of these but I only need Wi-Fi.

They may have understandably missed that because the first post confusingly says "WLAN only" instead of "Wi-Fi only". UserX10 should consider correcting that.
I can confirm that my SO-03E (32 GB) DoCoMo branded works in Australia using Telstra 3G but no 4G due to the band differences.

I can confirm that it is possible to flash the SO-03E with an unbranded SGP321 firmware image BUT the LTE working bands remain the same as those that come enabled with the SO-03E: LTE_BC1, LTE_BC19, LTE_BC21. The flashing maintains a locked Boot Loader and hence the bravia 2 engine is retained. I also have an SGP321 which is now running the same firmware as the SO-03E (which is now an SGP321 with 16gig internal flash) but they both have different LTE working bands! The modem/radio software is identical on both tablets but the working bands are different as viewed via the system menu.
Does anyone know where the bands are configured/set as the Qualcomm modem chipset supports all LTE bands..... or is it flashed with the working bands on the chip when produced cannot be reprogrammed/enabled via the Android OS?

Expansys Korea (I cant post the link) has the 16Gb LTE white you want. They have sites for other countries too, but stock varies.
Wish I would of seen this a known the DoCoMo verison I have only supports one of the two LTE bands for my carrier. Signal is weak .... for now.
US 4g Xperia Tablet Z
A T-Mobile USA compatible Xperia Tablet Z (SGP351) is now available directly from the Sony website.
Kind of curious...
The GN3 appears to support the frequencies of the various carriers included. Perhaps making the device portable from Carrier to Carrier.
Looking at the images on Verizon, it doesn't appear to have any Verizon markings.
Anyone have any idea if the carriers are going to bother with hacks like for example like Verizon did on the GN2 (removed a bunch of functions and hardware modifications).
I'm on Verizon now but leaning on moving to another carrier if the Verizon "version" has been crippled again. I'm also leaning on a non-contract purchase since I think the various plans are going to be in flux over the next year.

As for changes, VZW really did a hack job on the N2 s/w wise. I haven't followed their SGS4 to see if it followed in the N2's footsteps. I'm getting the AT&T N3 which will be my first carrier phone in over two years. If I can find an international LTE version that supports their bands (EU and Latin America don't so far) my AT&T N3 will be on eBay. I don't care what the carriers add, it can be disabled and with 32GB of RAM it's not that big a deal. I'm just afraid of them screwing around with some of the international functionality for no good reason. That and potentially waiting a lifetime between updates. You CDMA guys (Sprint and VZW) don't really have much choice other than to take what's doled out. So far the same applies to getting LTE on T-Mobile and AT&T.
will they get that ugly tramp stamp on the home button too?

Those are just covers. Replace the cover and the marking is gone. Unlike many phones, the covers don't have antennas in them.
Specs from the phone:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
UMTS: 850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz

Showing radio coverage of all the carriers.. which is why I am asking.

Here's AT&T
Here's the UK, LTE bands aren't identified on Samsung, Clove, or Handtec's sites
Here's the EU and LTA from Negri
So AT&T dropped 900MHz UMTS for some reason and is only using 4 LTE bands when the N3's radio supports 6. The EU versions of the S-800 N3 would work fine in the U.S. on 2/3G but not LTE and only VZW branded phones work on their CDMA network. I don't know what question you're really asking as VZW's radio is going to be different from those identified so far because it's CDMA/GSM (for LTE) and will have VZW's LTE bands making it "non-standard" to anything else out there. Same thing for AT&T's. There's some 900MHz frequency in Europe, LATAM, Asia, and Australia so I have no idea why AT&T would omit 900MHz and limit their customer’s roaming options (or the ability to use their N3 unlocked with another carrier's SIM) in those markets. With Sprint being CDMA/LTE like VZW and on their own LTE frequencies and T-Mobile still depending on 1700MHz in most markets no U.S. N3 will be “pure” from a radio perspective; at least not compared to what Samsung ships "stock" everywhere else in the world.
Info from VZW Phone they are selling...
CDMA Data – 1x and EVDO Rev0/RevA
LTE: B13 (700MHz)
Global Ready (GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900; HSPA/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz)

Do you want to use this phone Internationally?

If you check the box when ordering you will be given a choice of which international plan you want to subscribe to. This can be added later, if you don't want to incur the cost upon activation.
Are the Specs for the note 3 On Sprints network released yet?
I plan to get a note 3 with umts 900 from any carrier that supports it.
I hate that At&T always remove that.
Seems like the verizon version will be unlocked.
I might get that and replace the back.
LTE and HSPA Frequencies for the AT&T and T-Mobile Variant
http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/11/samsung-galaxy-note-3-reaches-the-fcc-in-att-and-sprint-forms/
Provides links to the FCC site for GN3 versions for AT&T/T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. This post is regarding supported frequencies. I focus only on the AT&T/T-Mobile model.
The hyperlink SM-N900T goes to the shared model for AT&T and T-Mobile at the FCC. The relevant document is the one called Test Report. Page 6 is where the supported frequencies are listed. For HSPA (WCDMA), it's 850, 1700/2100 and 1900 MHz. For LTE, it's 700 (the AT&T type 700, not Verizon's band), 850, 1700/2100 and 1900.
Apparently, the N900T is used by both carriers despite AT&T and T-Mobile websites giving conflicting specs. For example, T-Mobile's site http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phones/samsung-galaxy-note-3.html doesn't even specify the LTE frequency (scroll down to Specifications/International). But you can see from the Test Report to the FCC what they are. AT&T website doesn't even list AWS 1700/2100 presumably for business reasons but it is technically supported.
The hyperlink SM-N900W8 on that Engadget page is for Bluetooth. Ignore it.
There you go...the AT&T and T-Mobile models are interchangeable.
A cursory look at the Test Reports for the Sprint and Version models demonstrate exactly what is already known or expected.

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to try and help me out! I am possibly going to spend about 4 months in Hong Kong, starting with this upcoming January. I am really having trouble figuring out if this phone can be used there. It seems like it has the bands for most of the 3G networks there, but can anyone possibly help me confirm this? I would also love LTE, but I don't think this phone has the proper LTE bands for Hong Kong. I tried contacting T-Mobile (I currently have Verizon but may get T-Mobile there), and they told me to contact a Hong Kong carrier. I found the number 2 carrier there, and sent them emails and Facebook messages, and have not heard back. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Basically, I just want to know if the MXPE supports 3G and/or LTE bands in Hong Kong. If it does, I won't have to buy a phone to use while I am there. Thanks!
P.S. The Hong Kong carrier I am looking at is Hong Kong China Mobile.
Well here are the bands that the US MXPE supports:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS),1900, 2100 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE† (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41)
According to the LTE wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Asia
HKCM uses LTE bands 3, 7, and 40
Looks like bands 3 and 7 are pretty prevalent in HK, so chances are that you'll get LTE (but obviously not 100% guaranteed).
3G wise it looks like they use: UMTS 850, UMTS 900, UMTS 2100 - so you should at least get 3G.

Well here are the bands that the US MXPE supports:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS),1900, 2100 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE† (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41)
According to the LTE wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Asia

Awesome! It seemed like I was gonna get 3G but I was having trouble making sure that I would get LTE. Mainly because I looked at a Xiaomi Hong Kong phone and it mentioned FDD and I think TDP LTE and I was really confused!
My wife's Nexus 6 got LTE on the local PCCW carrier (now called csl) in Hong Kong earlier this year. So if the Moto X has the same bands for LTE you should be good to go.
As a side note my Nexus 5 did not get LTE but I was still very impressed with the 3G speeds. Wish the US has speeds like that for 3G.

Really appreciate the feedback. I will most likely do either csl or China Mobile Hong Kong, depending on pricing and reception.

Smartone might be worth taking a look at also.
FYI not all prepaid plans have 4G or LTE. csl just started offering it on prepaid within the last year. I don't know what other carriers have LTE on prepaid so you will need to do some research.
I am a local HKer, using CSL and my Moto X Style from the UK can access all the LTE band in HK. We mostly on 1800/2600 Mhz that is Band 3/7. I remember the Pure from the US do support the HK bands. I almost bought the US version to use in HK, but given up because Moto Maker doesn't allow me to proceed without a US credit card.

Hello! I'm using an unlocked Verizon Motorola G4 Play XT1609 in Argentina. It gets 4G coverage and I can surf the web and send and receive messeges but I can't make or receive calls. It just ends the call when I try.
I have no idea what's wrong with it. I think I bought the wrong version because it has CDMA and LTE and my provider is GSM/WCDMA/LTE
So I'm not sure if it is there any way to solve this.
Thanks in advance!
Are you sure your mobile subscription has calls included?

You're correct. You bought the wrong version. There is no GSM or WCDMA support for this phone and no way to enable it. The only reason it gets data is because this phone and your carrier support LTE band 4.
You have the XT1609 and need the XT1607 or another model that's sold in/for Argentina. If you were to get the XT1607, you would get 2G and 3G GSM support, but you still wouldn't get LTE band 28. Looks like you need the XT1601 for full band support. See: http://willmyphonework.net/
Moto G Play - XT1607
CDMA (850, 1900 MHz) GSM / GPRS / EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS / HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 41)
Moto G Play - XT1609
CDMA (850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE (B2, 4, 5, 13)
Hi I have an international version of Moto G5 Plus and sadly, there is no LTE on T-Mobile. The only network it connects to automatically is Edge (E). Is there a way to get LTE/4G on this device?
It alll depends on the bands. Tmobile has some unique LTE Bands
Carrier 4G LTE Bands Frequencies
AT&T 2, 4, 5, 17 1900, 1700 abcde, 700 bc
Verizon 2, 4, 13 1900, 1700 f, 700 c
T-Mobile 2, 4, 12 1900, 1700 def, 700 a
Sprint 25, 26, 41 1900 g, 850, 2500
Per http://www.phonearena.com/news/Chea...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933
So am I correct in assuming that a missing/unsupported band is more of a hardware issue than a software one and that there basically isn't anything that can be done (like flashing a different radio) to try and get the T-Mo LTE up and running on an international device?
