Hey,
1. What version of Windows are you using?
2. Did you try connecting to different devices?
3. Did you try changing the USB Cable? Are you using the one provided with the phone?
4. Did you install the correct drivers?
5. In your dialer, type in *#*#2846579#*#* then select in Background>USB HiSuite, to see if anything happens.
1. Windows 7
2. Yes, on the same thing.
3. Yes, I tried 2 others
4. Previously everything was working properly
5. Nothing.. :c

Also, are you using a stock or custom ROM? What version?
Try let Windows install the generic drivers and then see if it helps you to fix the issue.
a) Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, then Device Manager in the search box.*
b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
c) Look for the device under USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller, right click on it and select Uninstall.
d) Reboot the computer.
e) On reboot, Windows 7 should re-install the drivers automatically.
Stock B610
Still nothing..
Same thing happened to me once, but on custom ROM
You may try my solution and report if it works
For me the solution was an option in "developer options" called "select USB configuration" I had to manually select MTP..
IDK if the this option present in the stock ROM.
There is an option, but it also does not help ..
The other roms also do not work.

Bump.
Could it be that you dropped your phone and the port got some damage? Does you phone charge properly?
Also, if you install de ADB drivers and HiSuite, does the PC recognize the phone?
It puzzles me that you tried different cables, different PCs and different ROMs and the issue still persists so perhaps you have some hardware issues or incorrect drivers.
yes, it fell to me. yes, it loads properly.
does not recognize anymore.

Hey all,
Of late, whenever I try connecting my GALAXY 3 to the PC using USB, nothing happens. USB-Debugging is off. And it's supposed to ask me everytime I connect. But lately, nothing happens when I connect it. It does charge though however. And I do get the "Device Connected" sound. But that's about it.
Anybody faced a similar problem? Anybody know the solution to it? Will a reflash of the ROM do the trick? I currently use Kyrillos' ROM

I checked with another PC as well, it's not getting detected. I'm on Windows 7 Professional.
i had also faced a similar problem.
SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME-go to settings -> privacy and do factory reset.
also go in recovery and there also select the third option wipe data factory reset...
after this the pc detected me...
hope this works for you..
dont forget to press the thanks button if it worked...
if you are using some 3rd party laucher........switch back to twlauncer (android launcher) and try.......
check whether you have phone drivers installed or not.....
if not install kies once...

How will I get my data back then?
Try this:
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected from phone to PC.
On the mobile, dial *#7284#
An app called 'PhoneUtil' will open up.
Under USB section, make sure that 'PDA' is selected. If its already selected, then select 'modem' and then again select 'PDA'.
Once done, press 'back' to exit the app
Now Plug the USB cable again. It should work now.
Seems a common enough problem, happened to me as well. The only way I fixed it was a factory reset (tried the phone util thing and it didn't work for me). To save your data I recommend you use a backup app such as my backup root. To do this you will need to root your phone which you can do easily with z4root which you can get here: tiny.cc/z4Root. It will only soft root your phone (temporary root only lasts till you turn your phone off) so it is easily reversable and no chance of brick.

My pleasure!!!!
I've flashed my i9505 many times. I can't remember exactly what I've done, but now the situation is very weird.
1. I can go into Download mode. But Odin doesn't recognise it. Kies doesn't recognise it either. The error message on the bottom right corner of the screen says "USB device not recognized. Your usb device has malfunctioned." I've tried re-install the USB driver, use the original USB cable, even tried it on another PC with no luck. I suspect the very low level USB driver in the phone has corrupted because possibly I flash something wrong in the past.
2. I can go into Recovery mode and flash new ROMs in zip format from there.
3. I can use my phone normally, e.g. make phone call, SMS, WiFi......My computer can recognize my phone as usual when I am in Android.
Any thoughts? Helps are appreciated.
Hello,
Uninstall any previous installed of Samsung USB drivers, clean your Windows registry through CCleaner (not needed but highly suggested) then download and install latest Samsung USB drivers
Now download mode will be recognized on PC
Inviato dal mio GT-I9505
There is an easier way. If you are using windows, go into control panel-> Devices-> Right Click on your phone-> there should be a Driver Details-> Go details I think it is-> Uninstall driver-> Have the box ticked-> Uninstall-> Unplug then replug the cable in and it should work.

I've tried to re-install the driver. I even tried to connect the phone to another PC where the driver had never been installed before. Nope.... it doesn't work. Actually, I've searched around in Google for long time. The most likely reason is the usb piece of Android code is corrupted. Well, maybe not android, it should be the lower layer of Linux. I previously installed dual boot system follow this link and I screw it up when I tried to upgrade the primary OS:

You said that in Android USB connection works.
The download mode depends on bootloader, that can't be touched in any way by Android, even you can't touch the bootloader.
It's also write-protected, you can only upgrade it through Odin or through an official OTA update, when flashed you can't downgrade and can't write on its partition if not through JTAG

Tap on the "Charging mode" notification when your USB is connected and you'll get a pop-up that let's you select MTP mode.
Alternatively you can go to Device Manager and look for any error icons (think they're yellow triangles - been a while since I used a PC). Right click and uninstall all the offending ones, the disconnect and reconnect your device via USB.

In a lot of MM roms, you have to go in to developer options and select MTP under 'MTP configuration' in there. Even if it's selected already, tap it again and it should pop up asking what to do when device is connected on the pc. $5 says that does the trick. Easy but surprisingly tough one. One other problem I'm running into lately with the new windows 10 is that it has driver signing enabled by default and often rejects the driver you install or just doesn't use it even if it's installed. So if the driver is the problem (or more accurately windows 10 is refusing to acknowledge the installed driver), you might need to disable driver signing enforcement. Here's a link how to do that: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

There is no problem with MTP, only changing the mode may help to detect some devices. If you are on Windows I strongly suggest you to download latest USB drivers. Eventually check your setup with another android phone.

What about drivers? Trying new cable? If you flashed some ROM, kernel could be bugged - not allowing connection with PC. In your case I would reflash stock newest ROM. In my case the newest ROM (8.1) is good for me. Everything works good and connecting to PC too.
