I'm having huge issues with push notifications. It's not my phone, I'm just the one that *HAS* to fix the problem.
At some point the phone stopped getting the push notifications and only displayed hem once you open the app. So I found the "Apps not optimized" fix, and it worked, tested it and the phone was getting notifications almost instantly. It worked great for a couple of days.
Now, all of a sudden, push doesn't work again. I checked the Apps not optimized settings and nothing was changed. It's driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

I'm experiencing some problems after getting the Froyo update and then the latest OTA update. Not sure how to correct these, and would appreciate some feedback..
After Froyo update:
When using alarm clock, it will go off and not display the Dismiss/Snooze buttons to turn off the alarm. Even if I navigate into alarm options and uncheck it, still keeps going. Only way I can get this to turn off is by removing the battery. Not fun to try doing at 4am in the dark after I just had the crap scared out of me by the alarm. This doesn't happen every day, only a couple days a week, very randomly.
After latest OTA update:
When I am typing in text messages, the haptic feedback suddenly stops working. Doesn't happen when i type letters, press menu buttons, or touch anything else on the screen. Sometimes it will randomly start working again, other times it doesn't work until i put the phone in sleep and pick it up a few minutes later.
anyone else having the market force close occasionally when try to update apps?
Yep, I do.
I'm seeing a fairly consistent problem where I click to install an App, and it gets hung in "Waiting to install". Eventually it just stops trying.
Everything else on the pad works great. I've had no slowness issues, nothing at all wrong with the pad -- just randomly applications don't install. I've installed installing things from the web market because they always work there.
Yeah, that happens to me too. Its annoying to say the least.
Clearing the Market cache usually fixes it for me, at least for a while.
it does happen sometimes, just try a few times and it will eventually install..
Same here, sux yo
Yeah happens to me all the time. Super lame. I just try multiple times.
Ditto. Very annoying. I had hoped 3.1 would have fixed this, but it didn't.
same here .. sometimes i would get connection failure and to 'retry' or 'cancel'
i would turn off wifi and back on and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. rebooting will make it work again but then the issue would occur at times. not all the time though.
or i would disconnct from my wifi and turn on wifi tethering on my phone and have it connect to their and market would load fine again. =/
happens to me too. I usually just back out to the previous screen and try to install it again.
I'm having the same problem. And sometimes pressing a button causes a switch to the recent app (like alt+tab on windows).
Make sure that Google Talk is running in the background and you are logged in. For some reason the Market and Talk are related and killing Talk will cause the Market to hang.
Happens to me too, and trying to install multiple times (while it usually works eventually) will also frequently result in the app not showing in Market's "My Apps" section once installed, or showing but not being able to be uninstalled from Market.
The workaround I've found that so far works 100% of the time is to power the tablet off completely when an app hangs up installing, then restart the tablet and enter market again. The app will then immediately and quickly install without issues.

yea that usually works for me too but kinda annoying to have to keep rebooting just to get the market working. seems like the market will lose connection if the tablet is idle for a certain amount of time even though i have the wifi disconnect policy set to never. and even though market will have connection issue, i can browse the internet and everything perfectly fine when leaving hte tablet idle. hope this gets fix in 3.2!
I bought my Nexus 7 (16GB) just a week ago. It's been working fine up until today. I have installed a couple of apps so far. Today I heard about a new app I wanted to search for so I clicked on the shopping bag icon to go to Google Play. A message popped up asking if it was ok to do an update so I clicked on "install now". It took just a couple minutes then the nexus shut off and restarted itself.
I returned to Google Play and after searching for the particular app (without success) I returned to the main screen and tapped on the one game I had installed - and am now addicted to - Flow Free. I got a pop up message that said, "Unfortunately, Flow Free has stopped" and it gives me the option to click on "report" or "ok". It had been working perfectly every day for the last week so I couldn't imagine why it wasn't working now.
The first couple of tries to open it I clicked on "ok" thinking that it might just be slow to respond but the app never opened. I tried turning off the nexus, waiting a few minutes then turning it back on hoping that a re-boot would fix the issue. It didn't. I still got the same message. I tried uninstalling the app then re-installing it. Same issue. I tried uninstalling it, turning off the nexus then turning it back on and re-installing. Same issue.
Since "report" was one of the options I clicked on that and sent a report. But I have no idea how that works. Does someone actually read these and respond or does it just go on a list of complaints people have that go ignored?
All the other apps I had previously installed still worked ok. I installed a couple more just to make sure they work and they do.
So my questions are: Was it the update that caused this particular app to stop working or was that just a coincidence? Is there anything else I can do to get this app to work again?
Starting today I at times get some melody that sounds a bit like that Samsung bootup sound, but longer, maybe 10 seconds - and it keeps getting repeated, killing my nerves.
Went into application manager, but wasn't able to identify the culprit, and to my annoyance I wasn't even able to stop it at all (except for by reboot)! Battery stats showed a lot of drain by media server, but it wasn't in the process list. A friend suspected Timely to be the cause of it, but uninstalling that alarm and clock app didn't stop the melody. After another reboot the tablet remained silent - until a minute ago, when I plugged the power plug into its jack. [emoji35]
Anybody here having a hint for me? I'd really appreciate!

Your tab is haunted. ......lel
Just kidding not sure what could be making that. Do you have any sort system sounds enabled? Try leaving System Sounds off and media and notifications on, and so on so at least you get an idea of where its coming from
Sent from my Nokia Lumia 1520
Hm. Muting notifications makes the sound go away, muting system sounds doesn't.
Is there some tool like lsof for Android?
Silly question, of course it's available.
But - the output doesn't show ogg/wav/mp3
Any hints what to look for?
sounds like an app is trying to push through a notification that might not be coming through. I would try (i know its a pain) deleting and re installing some of the apps that you may have installed around the time the noise started occurring. I had turned off notifications for an app that still managed to do a pop up notification for a game i play (settings still showed notifications off). I had to force stop and wipe the cache and it never did it again.
Hm. Do you think wiping the whole system cache will do as well?

It's worth a shot. You could also just do factory reset
I had a similar problem and it was the Yahoo! mail app, which was configured to play a notification sound when messages were received, but not to show anything in the status bar, which was making me crazy because I did not know why the device was playing a sound without nothing visibly happening. Hope it'll help. Cheers!
I've been using the OK Google hotword detection since I've installed the rooted 4.4.2 leaked rom and everything has been fine for a month or so. Just recently it completely stopped working, voice search now only works if I hit the microphone button. Even if I uninstall Google Search and reinstall it and try to run the setup again it won't work. When it asks me to train my voice and say "OK google" three times it won't pick up anything.
So this all started when I woke up one morning and my alarm clock Sleep Genius had an error and stopped working, and when I forced closed it and hit the home button I had to pick the launcher again (I've been using Apex) . So I picked Apex again and noticed my background was different than what I had before. Don't know if that has to do with anything but that's when I noticed hotword detection stopped working. I uninstalled both apps to see if that would work and still nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.
Silly question: have you restarted the phone? You didn't state that in your post.
Also, have you tried clearing cache/dalvik?
Okay so I tried wiping the caches and that didn't do anything. I started digging a bit more into this (searched Google and about 15 pages in found this) - disabling apps that are turned on under the Accessibility menu. Turned off Music Boss, Pebble watch and Lightflow. Sure enough started working again!
Will this effect how any of these apps work? I tested out my pebble and it still got a notification so everything seems fine so far.
Thanks for the help though!
